Parks & Nature
Lake Kournas is the only fresh water lake in Crete and lies about 20m above sea level. It has tavernas which offer traditional Cretan dishes and cafes on one side, with a parade of shops leading down to the waters edge. Rent a pedalo and venture to a secluded part of the lake for a swim or use a sun lounger provided by the local bars. A great day out with the kids, or a lovely late afternoon romantic destination.
We can easily spend 3 hours here, with an hour on the water/swimming, a snack in a taverna and browsing the local shops.

Have a snack, a beer or a full dinner. Surrounded by trees giving plenty of shade it is just the perfect location to sit and watch life go by.
