Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

Welcome to our bright new studio space. Come and enjoy this unique and tranquil getaway looking over the ocean to a stunning view of Mount Baker. The suite is self -contained with a private entrance and deck. This is a wonderful location for discovering the many things the island has to offer including markets, vineyards, brewery, galleries, studio tour, dining, hiking and kayaking. An amazing place to stay. The space provided includes access to a full kitchen, full bathroom, one bedroom, and two living areas. If access to any other amenities please do not be afraid to ask. Great access to walking trails, hiking, kayaking, swimming and beach combing. A 5 min drive or a 20 min walk will bring you to the arts and crafts studios, local grocery shops, gas station, realestate offices, insurance, bakery, pizza truck, restaurants, liquor store and the local pub.

Lynn and Brad have created something rare; a stay that feels both beautifully designed and instantly familiar. The mid-century architecture is spot on, the interiors quietly elegant, and even the fridge feels curated. Books and publications worth reading, bespoke ice that belongs in a cocktail bar, and every detail perfectly placed. Effortless, calm, and just the right amount of indulgent. I shall be back, and with my family to enjoy this gem authentically the NW Pacific.

We had a fabulous stay with Gary and his wife Annamarie. They are very hospitable, and made every effort to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. Their accomodation is on the waters edge. We ate breakfast whilst watching the seabirds dropping clams on the rocks so that they could eat theirs. They have a gazebo, hot tub, sauna, and ice bath all overlooking the ocean, and all available for use by the guests. Plus they allowed us to us their kayaks so that we could paddle over to Chocolate Beach on Third Sister Island. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

My friend and I spent 3 nights at Lance and Laura’s cottage. Everything was perfect. Laura was easy to communicate with. The cottage was cozy. The property is beyond beautiful. Sitting around the fire in the evenings was a highlight. The Mayne Island Brewery and the Bennet Bay Bistro were favourites. Thank you Laura, Lance and Robyn for a wonderful weekend. We’ll see you soon😊
