The large and friendly living area can be enjoyed by all the guests for a cheerful communal meal or to share travel stories and experiences around the splendid fireplace. Everything else is comfortable and spacious too. Thanks to its two bedrooms and two bathrooms, Giglio Viola is ideal for hosting families or groups of up to six people. The apartment's character stems mainly from the discreet authenticity of its furnishings that feature both lovingly restored, traditional, local furniture and more contemporary fittings. The floors are tiled with original Tuscan terracotta and the furnishings and fittings, including suspended chandeliers, have been specifically made-to-measure by expert Florentine craftsmen. The Canto degli Scali complex is located on the first and second floor of the building. Unfortunately, there are no lifts or mobility aids for the disabled. The stairs are the only access. Guests will also be given the keys to the complex so they are free to come and go as they like. The complex has no reception area, but there are nearly always staff around. If there aren't - especially after 07.00pm - we can always be reached by phone. Set in the medieval heart of Florence, the apartment is located on Via delle Terme, a stone’s throw from the river. Popular museums and historic sites permeate the immediate area. A variety of restaurants and shopping is steps away. How to reach us By plane Florence's national and international airport (Amerigo Vespucci) is about 6 kilometres away, so the best way to reach us is by taxi (fixed rate of 20 euro). If you would rather use public transport, there is also a shuttle service (Vola in Bus) that will take you to the main railway station (Santa Maria Novella) from where you can either walk (about 15 min) or take a taxi (max. 5 min). For anyone arriving from the other airport in Tuscany (Pisa - Galileo Galilei) there are both coach and train services to Santa Maria Novella station. By car The most convenient place to park is in the Garage delle Terme, which is just a few metres from Canto degli Scali. If you let us know in advance we can also arrange a special rate here of 25 euro a day. There aren't really any other viable options as it is very easy for visitors to pick up fines for either parking in spaces reserved for residents or entering restricted traffic areas in the town centre. By train Having reached Florence's main railway station (Santa Maria Novella) you can either walk here (about 15 min) or take a taxi (max. 5 min).
