We are surrounded by miles of off-road paths for quiet walks and easy bike rides, yet near enough to the Chupadera Mountains for the more adventurous hiker. Located on 20 acres in rural New Mexico, only 15 minutes from Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge. Resting on the banks of the Rio Grande River, the property abounds with its own wildlife---owls, turkeys, hawks, and deer as well as beautiful native plants. With no neighbors nearby, you can enjoy the beautiful night sky. We're not real fancy, but we're clean, comfortable and quiet! Come to relax and unwind in the beautiful pine woods or book a personal art retreat to focus on your work or learn something new. Beautifully refurbished two bedroom, one bath cabin contains two small-scale art making spaces and a writer’s corner. There are rough sawn wood floors throughout with one of a kind red cedar floors in the living room. Full kitchen with apartment size appliances.

La Casita de Rancho Querencia, early 1900s adobe house

Originally built in early 1900s, the Casita de Rancho Querencia, was acquired by the current owner in 1985, and has renovated it twice, most recently in 2018. The main part of house has 10-ft pressed tin ceilings. The casita boasts a modern kitchen stocked with cooking essentials, and a clean bathroom with a clawfoot tub. There are two bedrooms with queen size beds and flatscreen TVs, and a separate sitting room with sofa-bed. [NOTE: THE BACK BEDROOM MUST BE RENTED SEPARATELY]

Cozy cabin with Highlands

Relax, unwind, and unplug with a beautiful view of the Manzano Mountains in our cozy cabin. Mountainair was known as the “Pinto Bean Capital of the World” in its heyday and our land was used for dry-land bean farming. Remnants of homesteaders can still be found on the property. We now enjoy this beautiful location to raise Scottish Highland Cattle and can’t wait to share it with you! Our cabin will fit 2 adults plus a child comfortably with a queen bed and twin sofa bed.

Bathroom towels, hand towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Refrigerated air conditioning. Please inform host if you will have a pet.

Quiet and Beautiful Country Living. Wi-Fi throughout the Cabin. Smells & noises of country life. Doorway into the bedrooms is under 6'. Bedroom ceilings are under 7'. You have to walk through the smaller bedroom to get to the larger one. Accordion door between the 2 bedrooms for privacy. You can hear the coyotes and occasional dogs barking at night. You are welcome to wander the property. We also have ducks and chickens. We always have fresh eggs to share.
