“Sara's house is just like the pictures, even nicer, it really is paradise. Its comfy, well equipped, clean and the beach and hot tub are amazing. Ken the manager looked after us and helped when we needed him. I'd say you could do a big shopping on arrival and stay in the house without renting a car as the house is incredible and has an incredible beach. That being said it would be a shame not to visit the island, and you can't do it without a car (we rented Sara's car) and Google will take you everywhere quite precisely, just download the map before you leave, this way you won't use data. There are potholes everywhere on the road, you'll have to learn to dodge them, feels a bit like Mario Kart :-) Remember they drive on the left side in the Bahamas. You can drive to North Eleuthera in about 1h30 and then grab a taxi boat to harbour island for 5$. On arrival you can rent a golf cart for 50$/day (try and negiciate the price if you use for less than 3 hours). The pink sand beach on harbour island is the most incredible thing you'll see in your life, we went in October and there was literally no one on that beach, made it look surreal. On your way to the North of the island you'll get to see all the major towns, and see the glass window bridge, you can stop on the side to take pictures, we even climbed up for a better view. There are shops and restaurants everywhere around the house within 15/20 minutes drive. Everything is expensive there, shops and especially restaurants which (like in America) don't include tax or gratuity in their prices that are already high, count easily 50$ minimum for a couple of drinks and a couple of dishes. So we ate at home a lot, the house is perfectly equipped with everything you need for cooking plus has a big fridge / freezer. Apart from that we still tried a few restaurants; the Fishbone in Savannah Sound, food OK and place quite nice; the Frigate in Rock Sound, our favourite, excellent food, lovely terrace; And the 1648 (French Leave Hotel) in Governors Harbor, extra expensive but excellent food and service, and amazing view. We bought fish and lobster from the Dock in Tarpum Bay one day. The fisherman fishes in the morning, go around 1 or 2pm. Its the best value for money and the fresh fish was a real treat we cooked it on the BBQ it was delicious. We enjoyed a dip in the sea most days, the water is so warm and transparent, paddle board and kayaks were a lot of fun, be careful when the sea is really quiet there are jelly fish, you see them on the beach, we avoided swimming those days. As for the bugs they definitely are everywhere on the island and you will get bitten, but it didn't ruin our holiday or stopped us from wanting to go back, just use bug spray, you'll be fine. The Bahamians are the nicest people, so polite friendly and helpful. I could talk for hours about the island and hope my experience will help some of you. Fair to say I recommend Sara's House warmly, and Sara herself was the nicest host, communication was perfect and she gave us a lot of helpful information. Thank you for everything!”
BEAUTIFULLY renovated historical property on 1.5 acres!! A hidden gem that was once part of The Rock Sound Club Estate. PRIVATE, convenient, as well as centrally located within minutes to both Tarpum Bay and Rock Sound settlements. Half Sound, Winding Bay and North Side beaches are just a short drive away. Some of the island's most secluded beaches that you will not find on a map are all right here in my backyard.
“Karen's Airbnb was one of the best airbnb's I've stayed at in my many years of traveling. Not only is her place so beautiful, comfortable, stylish and clean, she was absolutely the best host. Communication from the start, throughout my trip until after were fluid with super quick responses. She provides all the tips you need in Eleuthera, which beaches to go to, restaurants, bars, markets, etc. Location: Her airbnb is located within a 5 minute drive from Rock Sound Airport (south Eleuthera) so it is best to fly into there. Otherwise fly into Harbour Island which is about 40 minute drive. If flying in internationally, then you'll likely only be able to fly into North Eleuthera (ELH) which is about a 90 minute drive to the airbnb. A car rental is pretty much required during your stay and Karen can help arrange that. Karen's House: Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, though just a quick turn from the main road (Meridien Highway). Complete serenity, very quiet and safe. The house has 2 rooms which could be shared if other guests book the other room though we had the place to ourselves. The common area has comfortable couches, a table filled with a Coffee maker, Tea, Keurig and Utensils. Microwave and small fridge is included in each room as well as air conditioning. Very comfortable bed, clean spacious room/bathroom in room. The place is beautiful decorated as a beach-style home with quality furniture. There is a SiriusXM station where you can play music throughout the day and various lighting to set the mood. Karen has also thoughtfully included Beach Towels, Snorkels and Beach Tent for you to use during your stay. Outside patio area with complete furniture where you can lounge outside. Karen lives in a separate house on property so you have the privacy you need yet she's within reach if you need anything. Communication: Any question you have, Karen has an answer to as she's lived in Eleuthera for several years and is passionate about the island. I would very highly recommend her airbnb, not only because it's an incredibly clean and beautiful place, but because meeting Karen will certainly enhance your Eleuthera experience!”
Stay in this charming house and live like a true local in Rock Sound, Bahamas! We're within driving distance to restaurants, beautiful secluded beaches, and the world famous Ocean Hole. Our rental comes with 2 bedrooms, and a private bathroom, kitchen, and living room that you're free to use any time. When you're not enjoying all that Eleuthera has to offer outdoors we have a Roku Tv for you to watch your favorite shows or films. A washer/dryer is also included -- we've got everything you need.
“Patricia is a delightfully warm and kind host and made our stay in Rock Sound feel like home. When we arrived there was a jar of delicious homemade cookies -- all of which we finished! -- and a bowl of limes, papaya, and the most delicious fresh tomatoes in the kitchen. The house was clean and tidy, and the beds were comfortable. Patricia was available for anything we needed and went out of her way to make our stay extra special, one time even bringing us a slice of delicious homemade coconut cream pie. The location is in a quaint neighborhood a stone's throw from Hal's Grocery Store, Ocean Hole, and a few restaurants. Beach access is easy to either side of the island, and Rock Sound is a perfect location for day trips to Cape Eleuthera or Lighthouse Beach.”
