Follow me into one of LA’s most iconic flea markets, Melrose Trading Post, where I’ll lean on my experience as a fashion industry set designer to help you score one-of-a-kind finds. Melrose Trading Post is my go-to spot to scour for items to use on set — each antique, artwork, and memorabilia here tells a unique story about LA’s history and identity. • We’ll make our way over to the market. After giving you the lay of the land, you’ll be sent on an unconventional scavenger hunt where you might look for anything from a creepy doll to the “ugliest” item. Cheesy prizes included. • You’ll be introduced to some of the vendors I personally frequent. I know how to find the perfect items at the best prices and will give you pointers. At the end of the tour, you’ll leave with a novel find to keep forever. I’ll also give you local recommendations so you can explore beyond the flea market.

Take a two-mile walk with me, a writer on Los Angeles, through Echo Park on an art and writing pilgrimage through one of Los Angeles’ most culturally rich neighborhoods. As we walk, I’ll invite you to respond creatively to what you’re experiencing primarily through photography. • At the boathouse, we'll go over the inspiration for the route we’ll take. You’ll receive an photographic map that includes an article on Echo Park I wrote for the Los Angeles Times. • We’ll walk along Echo Park Lake, a scenic spot with views of downtown LA and the surrounding hills. • As we continue into nearby historic districts, I’ll weave together stories from the area’s past. We’ll also explore the contrast between dense housing and hidden green spaces, and the urban jungle as a source of both chaos and peace. • Heading back toward the heart of Echo Park, we’ll stop at murals, galleries, and independent art spaces. We’ll close at Echo Park Lake by sharing what we’ve created during our adventure. This creative & beginner-friendly workshop will take place in our backyard greenhouse patio, surrounded by fresh air and plants. Each participant will receive a unique & portable terracotta pot to paint & customize using a natural & locally-harvested Cochinilla Dye made from scratch by the shop's owner and founder, Andi Xoch, as well as a small plant to take home! We’ll begin with a fun introductory exercise & a brief history on our business & Cochinilla dye, which has ancient origins in the Americas. We’ll explain how to use the provided materials & show you some finished samples; as we guide you through the design & painting process, everyone will get an opportunity for one-on-one tips as you sketch your ideas & dive into painting. While our pots dry, we’ll answer any questions & share our favorite local spots around Boyle Heights, most within walking distance! You can also browse our shop's selection of plants, florals, & original artwork. All guests will receive a 20% discount. Once our pots are dry, each participant will get to choose a small beginner-friendly succulent to plant inside their pot to take home; these plants are the perfect travel companions, & shouldn't cause any stress on the way home! SoCal Temecula Wine Country Morning Balloon Ride

You'll meet me early in the morning in Temecula wine country. We will transport you from our meeting site with free parking, restrooms, and access to coffee to our takeoff site. We complete a preflight safety briefing while our staff sets up the balloon equipment. Once standing, we'll open our basket doors and you'll board our hot air balloon. My staff will take pictures and then we will lift off for our flight. We will fly over Temecula's gorgeous estates, vineyards, resorts, and orchards. We will see an abundance of wildlife surrounded by local lakes and mountains with distant ocean views. Our pilot will provide an entertaining and educational tour of the Temecula Valley, winemaking, and hot air ballooning. When we land, we'll provide you with champagne, juice, or mimosa toast along with individually wrapped breakfast items to enjoy. After we transport you back to our meeting site, we'll send you on your way with a commemorative flight certificate and two for one wine tasting vouchers to six local Temecula wineries. Cheers!
