This creative & beginner-friendly workshop will take place in our backyard greenhouse patio, surrounded by fresh air and plants. Each participant will receive a unique & portable terracotta pot to paint & customize using a natural & locally-harvested Cochinilla Dye made from scratch by the shop's owner and founder, Andi Xoch, as well as a small plant to take home! We’ll begin with a fun introductory exercise & a brief history on our business & Cochinilla dye, which has ancient origins in the Americas. We’ll explain how to use the provided materials & show you some finished samples; as we guide you through the design & painting process, everyone will get an opportunity for one-on-one tips as you sketch your ideas & dive into painting. While our pots dry, we’ll answer any questions & share our favorite local spots around Boyle Heights, most within walking distance! You can also browse our shop's selection of plants, florals, & original artwork. All guests will receive a 20% discount. We’ll begin by honoring the ancestral homelands of the Cahuilla, Chemehuevi, Mohave, and Serrano peoples, then head into stunning desert landscapes—from Joshua Tree woodlands and Pinyon-Juniper forests to Creosote Bush scrublands and Desert Riparian zones. As we walk, you'll be guided through desert ecology, light botany, and native plant identification using key morphological features. We'll discuss both traditional and modern uses of native plants and the impacts of climate change on these desert ecosystems. A special part of this experience is our desert tea tasting, where we’ll explore herbal energetics through teas made with cultivated native plants, including some of the flora we’ll meet on the trail. Using organoleptic tasting—engaging our senses of taste, smell, and touch—we’ll delve into thermal energetics and explore how understanding plant energetics can support wellness in our lives. La Jolla Bay is a Marine Protected Area that is home to a thriving ecosystem that boasts a high concentration of sea life, has a natural boat launch, which allows safe ocean entry year-round, and is famous for its Sea Caves and Marine Reserve. No experience is required. Great for all skill levels. Your guide will kick things off with a paddle tutorial on the beach. If surf exists, we will help push your kayak through any breakers. As we paddle through La Jolla’s Marine Reserve keep an eye out for Seals, Sea Lions, Sea Turtles, Pelicans, Dolphin and Gray whales in the fall/winter. Note: We cannot guarantee sea life. If conditions are safe, we will help guide your kayak into Emerald Cave. If it's not safe to enter Emerald Cave, we will still paddle out & explore La Jolla's World-Famous Marine Reserve. Note: if not safe we WILL NOT enter the Emerald Cave, we don't cancel if the cave isn't safe and spend about a minute inside. La Jolla Bay is an Uncontrollable Environment. Mornings at the Farm

You’ll visit our little farm and experience the morning routine with the animals. After being welcomed joyfully by our two dogs, Casper the Husky and Lola the Great Pyrenees, we'll meet at the outdoor kitchen. You’ll arrive just in time for the animals' breakfast, they will be waiting for you to feed and pet them! Starting with Tagada the horse and Carambar the donkey. (They will need to be brushed as well!) Next, we will walk over to the enclosure of the exotic birds. With prepared food and fresh vegetables from the garden, you’ll feed Charles and Diana the amazing peacocks, Popeye the astonishing turkey, and the two dozen rare chickens (Pompadour, Dubarry, Mary, Scarlet, Frida…) You will personally hand-feed them and gather their eggs, find out about the different breeds and learn fun facts about their origins. Then you’ll enter the barn to discover the world of our 26 sweet and gentle goats! You may scratch the heads of the adults and hold the babies (depending on the season). A perfect time for photographs! All the while I’ll explain how the Farm came to be, the sustainability of our practices, and how each species was found and rescued. Your visit will end with light refreshments and tastings of our goods.

Hot Springs Hike With Photographer

Winter time hike! I will keep hosting as long as I can but it's almost too hot now. This hike is difficult. It requires hiking boots and good stamina. 6 miles (round trip) and 1,300 feet elevation change. There is a hill that is almost a sandy slide in steepness that is 1/4 of a mile long and it's very challenging. We will spend about 2 hours hiking down and another 2 hours hiking back up. The hot springs are an amazing reward for the tough hike! 7 different hot pools range in temperature from 75 to 118 degrees. They are located right along the creek so you can swim in the cold water too. It's a great spot for some contrast bath therapy! This is very good for stress, soreness, blood circulation, your metabolism, and your immune system! The whole area is beautiful and a perfect place to relax. We will relax and swim for about 2 hours. The coldest days are the best days for this but as long as is 70 degrees or cooler in Lake Arrowhead then we can enjoy this hike. I like it best when it's around 40 degrees out. As we hike I'll teach you about the local plants and animals :) I'll take pictures, candid and posed, to capture the memories of your day and send them to you after the hike. For more pictures look up my Insta @echo_adventure_photography. Please note, there will be nudists. For a less crowded day pick a week day. Best suited for ages 15 to 50.

Let’s Goat Hike

Take in stunning views of the High Desert of the Mojave, accompanied by goats. We’ll meet our 15 friendly Nubian goats in their pens. They’ll wait for us to open their gate, and then these loving animals will show us the way. We’ll follow the herd at an easy pace into desert washes and onto boulders, where we’ll find beautiful spots to sit and chat—or simply gaze into the silence of the landscape, the gaping sky, and the goats enjoying themselves. We’ll hike about three miles and return with the goats after the sunset. Other things to note: No phone connection the last 4.7 miles of dirt roads ( easy access :) Long pants & suitable shoes for hiking are essential. Sun protection and hat. Plenty of water. Dress warm from October to April. Suitable for all physical fitness levels. Not recommended for people with poor cardiovascular health . Hike at your own risk.

Sunset Hike with Goats

We will meet at La Orilla trail head next to the San Elijo Lagoon. The guests will meet Buttercup and Cotton Candy, our angora goats, feed them treats and then take turns holding the leashes as we walk along the ecological reserve's trails. This is a scenic hike through the California Sage Brush, with wild flowers (seasonal), pine and eucalyptus trees and reed grass. While we're walking you can learn about angora goats and goat keeping in general, native plants and foraging, ask questions or simply enjoy their sweet personalities as we walk (or run) along the trail. Contrary to goat yoga this activity is suitable for all ages and does not require special athletic skills. We will end the walk with a mohair spinning and knitting demonstration and enjoy a cold sparkling water. Please note: Goat walking is slightly different from dog walking. Goats like to browse, meaning they regularly stop to nibble on vegetation. This makes the walk fun for them and mimics their natural behavior. Also, just like us humans, there are days when they feel energized and move at a fast pace (usually during cooler weather) and other days when they feel more lazy and want to stop for snacks more often. I do not want or expect my animals to perform like circus animals, instead I adapt to their energy level. For that reason the hiking times and distances do vary.
