We designed it as an inn to get away from the bustle of the city and just soak up the "tranquility". The bathroom features "WABURO," a harmonious blend of cypress fragrance and beautiful tiles. Enjoy a luxurious bath time, surrendering to the free-flowing waters from the source spring. The interior has a Japanese modern interior that feels the warmth of natural materials. Welcome to Richard Flavin's Washi House! Richard Flavin (1943–2020) was a Japanese paper artist originally from the US. He studied design in Boston and came to Japan in 1970. He later studied woodblock printing and developed a deep interest in the production of washi. He also cultivated the raw material for washi paper, paper mulberry. We invite those interested in washi paper and art to stay overnight and enjoy this space, reminiscent of a washi paper museum, including these unfinished areas.
