The gardens at Tullynally, like the castle itself, dates back over 350 years. The Pakenhams (later Earls of Longford) settled here in the 17th century and three generations still live here as their family home. The layout of the gardens and magnificent parkland date mainly from the early 1800s, but the present owners, Thomas and Valerie Pakenham have added many new features. Check out the website for availability of tours of the castle. It is still a private home but there are at times tours available of parts of the castle. The tour is very interesting. There are tearooms here and you can walk the gardens.

This place has the most beautiful forest walk I have ever seen! It is not your typical forest walk, it is landscaped with tiny streams, an abundance of different species of trees, little log cabins and some really friendly ducks that love to come and say hi. There is also a lovely cafe in an impressive courtyard! They also offer tours of the castle on certain days, best to check in advance. i am yet to tour the castle, but it is next on my list!
