I recommend it to those looking to be at peace and quiet with an excellent landscape. Good place to be with friends and family. Avoid bringing sports cars, hard access.

Beautiful view. Bring groceries so you can stay at house and enjoy the view and pool. Take your time driving the roads. All roads have amazing views and lush surroundings.

The house is ideal for nature lovers! It is very cool inside and has all the necessary equipment for a comfortable stay. The river below is perfect for cooling off and other spots are within walking or driving distance by the road that passes in front of the house (little traffic, mainly farmers and locals who are very warm). We would have stayed much longer!

A really lovely house in a really lovely location. The house is beautifully designed and spacious. The views from the terrace over the vineyards and over the valley are stunning.

Sandra and Bia welcomed us into their lovely home, filled with antique furniture and beautifully embroiderered/ crocheted decor. We enjoyed a spectacular view of Lindoso castle, mountains and valleys, swifts, finches and the odd golden eagle circling above. At night we saw starry starry skies. If you like to cook there is everything you need in the indoor and outdoor BBQ area. We liked the pool and the outside dining area being close together meaning the family could share the space together. This does not mean the outdoor space is small, just well thought out. The house is cool, particularly the downstairs bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. Bread is delivered daily, bread eggs, homemade jam, cheese and a bottle of Vinho Verde await you on arrival. More eggs and jam will be provided - you just have to ask. Sandra and Bia kindly laundered our clothes (same day service). This is our favourite AirBnB for cleanliness, attention to detail and setting.

Enjoyed our stay in Vila Real. We used it as a hub for day trips in the area. The house was beautiful and well cared for and met our expectations.

I can't say enough about how incredible this Airbnb was, Carla and her property were so beyond expectations. My family and I felt extremely comfortable there, it is remote but absolutely beautiful. We were not able to use the pool, because the weather was a little bit cold. I jumped in for like 20 minutes and even though it was cold it was very nice. Carla was so communicative the entire time we were there, she made lots of helpful suggestions and helped us to book a tour around the Douro Valley and surrounding areas. She and a friend also cooked us breakfast every morning, which was delicious and helped us to start our day. 10 out of 10, I would absolutely return.

What an EXTRAORDINARY accommodation Casa Marmelo was for our group of 8 adults when visiting the Douro valley !!! Host Kate was super to work -- right from our initial contact for information through our date of departure. What an excellent WELCOME GUIDE she provided before our arrival - with valuable tips and suggestions for activities and dining throughout the area. Housekeeper Helene too could not have been more kind, charming, and helpful. What delicious breakfasts she made for us each morning. The entire property was kept so clean and tidy. What a memorable time we all had -- we all hope to be back!

The house was even more beautiful than expected and cleaned to a wonderful standard. The place felt homely and spacious with enough amenities provided ie towels, kitchen utensils, food items etc. Pool and grounds were well kept by Fernando who helped us out with some queries during the week. The ruins on the property have the place an authentic and rustic feel. This is the perfect spot to get away from it all for some peace and quiet in the beautiful countryside.

Beautiful location stunning house. Great host. Do the vineyard tour it is great lots of information and gorgeous wine! Hard to leave the house for day trips as it is so tempting to stay in! Local people are friendly and helpful. Thank you for an amazing week we will be back for sure!!!!

We really enjoyed our time here. The house is wide, warm and with a lot of stuff to do. We felt comfortable and entertained during our entire stay.

Perfect space. Really a super complete vacation home. Our congratulations for the space. The only "problem" we had was locomotion outside the house. We have a the family with limited mobility and the number of stairs and own house being situated on a slope did not help much. But obviously this is not a defect. We just wanted to highlight this part because as we have a lot of people in this situation and it makes it difficult a little bit. Outside if the stairs had handrails would be ideal . But everything was perfect thank you

We really enjoyed staying at the river house. It is a very nice space with lots of green space, shade and sun areas, a forest to explore by the river and everything very well cared for and decorated. The apartments are well equipped and the hosts have been very available, namely in accommodating all the needs of a baby. We recommend.

Our stay at this place was UNREAL! The views was like something taken from a movie with its hills and scenery. Jose, the host we were in contact with, made the whole stay even better! The wine tour was incredible and informative and having access to the pool during these hot days was incredible. The comments said the pool was private but in the booking it says shared pool. But I imagine the pool is restricted to the ones in the houses, not the camping. Overall, an incredible stay!! Will definitely come back some day!

I don't think you could ever tire of the views from Quinta do Fraguil. They're breathtaking - we kept taking just one more photo! It's so special to be able to see so far into the distance and right down to the bottom of the valley. Even the local viewing point didn't match it! From start to finish, Rui was a friendly and really responsive host. He made us feel confident as soon as we had booked that we were going to be staying somewhere special. He turned up to meet us when we arrived and was in really good contact any time we needed to ask him anything before or during our stay. The pool is a total highlight - a good size and really clean. The house itself was also really clean and tastefully furnished. The outside eating area was perfect and made you feel happy to stay 'at home' and cook! We had sunshine every day and warm evenings sitting outside. This is the sort of place that you feel really sad to leave at the end of your holiday and one that you're very likely to visit again.

We just spent 15 days in the house, we were hosted very well. The house was very clean. We had room to put our vehicles. Mrs. Iris was impeccable and always did everything to ensure that our stay went smoothly. We thank her very much for this stay and would recommend this home to anyone looking for Quiet

Accommodation as described! Perfect for a few days of rest

Beautiful accommodation, clean, well arranged, great pool, quiet in the middle of the countryside and in the Portuguese tradition. Joao is a pleasant, helpful and attentive person despite the language barrier. We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful region. This is an address to remember in the directory. 😊😊

Carla's place is a small peaceful oasis, the garden with the view is splendid! The house is perfect, tastefully decorated, clean, tidy. The bedding is extremely comfortable. Upon arrival we were treated to small touches: chocolates, jam, champagne. We even had a Christmas tree as a decoration. There are small games for children available in the house in addition to swings and slide outside. Communication with the host was great, we were able to arrive earlier in our accommodation and we could have left later. Carla heard from us during the stay, asking us if everything was okay, we really appreciated that. The only small downside is the wifi network which does not work very well. We highly recommend this place for a family vacation!
