Kikori Guest House is a renovated 270-year-old private house in the mountains of Chizu-cho, Tottori Prefecture. The village where the inn is located has been selected as a preservation area for traditional buildings in Tottori Prefecture, and it is a sightseeing spot in Chizu-cho where you can enjoy the original scenery of a mountain village in the early Showa period. The main house of the inn is estimated to have been built about 270 years ago (mid-Edo period), and the atmosphere of an old private house from the Showa 30 (1960) era, such as the dirt floor, mud walls, sliding doors, and tin roof, has been preserved. The fresh greenery is beautiful in early summer, it is a cool summer resort even in midsummer, and it is also a famous spot for autumn leaves in autumn for those who know it. Please come to this hidden village where you can feel like you've traveled back in time to the world of old tales. There are 3 rooms in the guest house, but this room is a private room for 1-2 people (1 semi-double bed, no extra beds). From December onwards, it is the season when it starts to snow, and studded tires are required for cars. The living room has a firewood stove and a kotatsu, but the only heating appliance in the bedroom is an electric stove. Please take precautions against the cold in advance when going to a snowy country.

It is a 3-minute drive from Nishi-Awagura IC on the Chugoku-Odan Expressway (Himeji-Tottori Line) and a 1-minute drive from Chizu Express Awakura Onsen Station, making it an excellent location for sightseeing in the surrounding area. The building, a fully renovated traditional house built about 100 years ago, has been reborn with a modern interior that is beyond what you would imagine from its somewhat nostalgic exterior.With a concept of a retro atmosphere from the Taisho and Showa eras, the owner's attention to detail is evident in every piece of furniture, including the sofas and stained glass. Opened in spring 2023, this 300-year-old guest house is both old and new. It is conveniently located 5 minutes by car from Nishi Awakura Interchange and 10 minutes on foot from Awakura Onsen Station. You can stay in the main house [Osaji no Yado Doyashiki] at the end of the large gate. In winter, there is a possibility of snow, so we look forward to reservations from people who are well equipped for the cold and have tires on their cars, and who can enjoy the experience of shoveling snow during sudden heavy snowfalls. (Please refer to the photos of snowfall. We rent snow shovels, but it takes a while to get the car out.) No meals are provided. There is a large kitchen, so please use it. BBQs and campfires are also available near the parking lot facing the river. You can try cooking rice in a kettle if you wish. Please contact us. The bedroom is a Japanese-style room, so it is not a bed but a futon. We will prepare for the number of guests, so please lay them out yourself when you need them. In the flat lawn garden connected to the room, you can watch the fire and the starry sky while listening to the sound of the waterway. The sound of the Wakasa Railway in the distance gives a sense of nostalgia.
