It has it's own kitchen with fridge, dishwasher and oven/microwave. The stairs bring you to the upper floor where you find a kingsize double bed and a walk in shower. The sofa in the living room is suitable for 2 persons. The lodge is situated next to a beautiful river and within a 15 minute walk you can catch a train to Amsterdam.

Our romantic windmill (1874) is just a few miles from Amsterdam in wide green fields and along a meandering river: "Gein". Easy access to the A'dam. by car, train or by bike. You have the entire windmill to yourself. Three floors, 3 bedrooms with double beds: it easily sleeps 6, a kitchen, living, 2 toilets and a bathroom with bath/shower. Bikes available + kayak. Just leave some extra money if you did use them. No need to reserve ahead. Great swimming water and small landing just in front.

I stopped here for two nights as a part of a road trip, and for me it was the perfect basis for day trips to Amsterdam. I enjoyed the minimalistic and down-to-earth atmosphere of the pipowagen, which is so charmingly decorated, and I loved drinking my morning coffee looking at the fields and cows outside. There are flies, as it is a farm, but for me this wasn’t an issue; when I arrived it took me 15 minutes to catch the ones that were inside, and once they were out, it was simple keeping them there, because of the fly screens that Anja has put up at the door and windows. It was was to get into town, parking my car near the Gaasperplas metro station, and taking the metro from there. I loved this experience and hope to stay here again the next time I go to Amsterdam.

We absolutely loved our stay in Abcoude! It's a quiet, picturesque town with excellent grocery stores and a few charming restaurants and pubs. The location is ideal—just a short and easy transit ride into Amsterdam and the airport (AMS), with great connections to cities like Rotterdam, Delft, and Haarlem. We rented a car for part of our stay, which was very convenient, and the bonus of free parking made it even better. For our early morning flight, we used Uber (€60), and the drive to the airport took less than 20 minutes. The house was exactly as pictured—spacious and perfect for our group of five adults. We especially enjoyed the generous layout, the peaceful garden, and the private deck off the master bedroom. The home was very well equipped with everything we needed. Wendy was a fantastic host—friendly, responsive, and helpful throughout our stay. We highly recommend this home and its location to anyone planning a visit to the Netherlands!
