Cottage holiday rentals in Athens County

This place taught me a lot about myself that I needed to know. Nothing like a private place to unwind, relax and be yourself. Really close to hiking trails too, and with a hot tub. Plenty enough for me.

It has a good location and comfortable beds. Very Clean and well-organized, and Everything is functional. It was a pleasant stay for us, and I would recommend it.

We wanted to find a place that wasn’t too far from home but would still be a little escape to take our boys to every year. This was our second year staying at this house. We could probably go later in the summer when it’s warmer and have more to do, but we like to go in the spring time. It’s secluded but not far from town or stores. Very private. Loved the paddle boat! We look forward to staying again next year!

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested. Everything was as pictured or better. Ty and Megan were very helpful, polite, and accommodating. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Definitely want to come back and stay again!

Love this cabin! Our second stay here. Comfortable and roomy in a beautiful setting. We especially enjoy the electric fireplace, very cozy! 1st Choice Cabin Rentals hosts are helpful and quick to respond. Will definitely try to book this Airbnb next time.

I hate to give a such a glowing review because I don’t want to generate more competition to rent it in the future, but this venue was wonderful. We stayed this location for OU Mom’s Weekend & it was a fantastic choice! It was the perfect place to relax, connect and unwind when we weren’t in Athens. It had absolutely everything we could have wanted. It was a convenient Uber ride away & perfect for a group of moms. If you want a sweet place tucked away from the hustle with some cool country amenities, then this is the rental for you. It looks like they’re in the process of making improvements, but honestly the imperfections were part of its charm. Highly recommended!

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time at this lovely little cottage!! It had a little bit of everything, and a lot of ways away from the loudness of any cities. We didn't get to use the hot tub unfortunately, but we could've prepared better. the hot tub wouldn't heat above 91, even when making sure it was on the right setting. We discovered this on our second night there, when we went to get in around 6pm. We waited an hour to see if it would heat up at all, but it wasn't budging. We did contact Trisha then, and she contacted maintenance, but we decided to just forego the experience because it would've taken awhile for the water to heat up and we don't stay up late. We do plan on coming back, this was a gem of a place! The only thing I would add is some lamps or some accent lighting in the house for us neurodivergents that dont use "the big light" because it hurts our eyes and is overstimulating. That's a personal preference, which is why I'm giving our experience 5 stars well earned!

I am most grateful for this little hideaway. From the front gate, the place is unassuming and tucked away... but just past a few curves, hills, and bends a peaceful and welcoming cottage emerges. My wife and I loved the peaceful cottage, just perfect for a couple (or small family) and their dog, with nothing but open air and horses grazing in the pasture. It was beautiful and everything it was billed to be. Thanks for a great experience... we will definitely be back! :) N. Davis

I absolutely plan on coming back to Sugar Maple cottage in the future. I would recommend for a Girls, Couples, or Family get away. The property is amazing and the cottage felt like home (but nicer LOL). LOVED the hot tub and fireplace after a day of hiking the property. So much to do we probably could have spent a week just exploring, never leaving the property.

Great stay. Exactly as listed. Quiet & restful rental. Owner is responsive, helpful & friendly. Cabin was even decorated for Valentine's Day.

Homey. Felt like staying at a friends house with all of the extras. Lots of spices and leftover condiments, a few extra groceries in the fridge and freezer ( used some and left some), house just felt like you we welcome, not like a visitor, but like family. Close proximity to Dock #1 made it great to come and go as needed during a few days of great fishing.

We absolutely loved this cottage! We were looking for something quiet and relaxing and this hit the spot!

My husband and I stayed the weekend for our anniversary. Even though it was a last minute reservation everything was perfect. I definitely did my research of the area and this stay was BY FAR the absolute best bang for the buck. Close enough to everything in any direction but just far enough off the main highways to still feel like you are way out in the country. The little cabin was perfect! Claw foot tub for soaking after a long hike, check. Outdoor shower for long lazy showering, check. Full kitchen for not spending an arm and a leg on every drink or snack or meal while away from home, check. Close enough to drive to any restaurant when you don't want to have to cook, check. All in all - perfect!
