Family-friendly holiday rentals in Borneo

Cyril's place is amazing. We stayed for several days in July. Cyril is very helpful with local hints and advice. He goes above and beyond the role of host we went for dinner to a local smokehouse one evening so that I could try lots of local food. The location is a bit out of town but that's really not a problem it's 11-12RM in a grab to the centre and we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for a car. The pool is great to come back to on a hot afternoon and the shower was great. It is an unusual place, if you have an open heart and want to engage beyond a bland hotel room in a faceless block then Cyril's place is a gem.

Mark's three-bedroom flat is neat and clean, with great sea views on the ninth floor. It is conveniently located near convenience stores, restaurants and shops, all within walking distance, in a clean neighbourhood. The kitchen is well equipped and the drinking water dispenser is extremely handy. Transport is easily available and if you rent a car there is a parking space that goes with the flat. The daily cleaning service and 24-hour water supply (unlike in some other blocks in complex) are added advantages. Mark responded promptly to our questions, making it so much easier to plan and make the most of our short stay. I would not hesitate in recommending Mark's flat. We first met Mark as a kind and gracious host, and we now think of him as a friend. Thank you Mark for making our visit to KK so special.

A spot of paradise. If you're looking for a quiet place with lovely warm beaches and a pool.. this is the place to unplug. It's a spacious 2 bedroom place with all the amenities and daily housekeeping. Go to the supermarket en route... and you'll never need a thing. There's some rubbish on the beaches... but otherwise..no complaints. Gorgeous sunsets!

A very special place on a remote beach that you're taken to by quick boat ride, this really is a family affair. Martini, her friends and family do a great job of welcoming you in and catering to every need. The two chalets are light, breezy and comfortable, and the deck where meals are served is beautiful. The food is international, good quality and plentiful. The sea is very shallow so if you are a swimmer you will need to head some distance off the beach, and you may encounter jellyfish so take a long sleeve manmade fibre top to swim in. There is a really beautiful deserted beach just round the corner. A great place to unwind.

Really enjoyed our stay here! The house is spacious and fits our big family comfortably. Self check-in was easy and smooth. The host was super friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The place had all the basic things we needed, and the big parking space was a plus. We also loved the pretty garden at the back — such a nice spot to relax. Definitely would come back again!

Ms Tan was very communicative throughout our stay. I am a Miri resident, but relocated to Singapore for work purpose. As it was my wedding, I had to look for an affordable accommodation for my relatives from overseas. The stay was very comfortable and Ms Tan was very helpful whenever things are not in perfect shape. She personally came over to fix the water heater problem and also replaced the kettle as the handle was broken. The door knob to one of the bedrooms was also fixed promptly. Overall, it was a good experience and would definitely recommend this unit to anyone.

My stay at Brahminy Kite in Kota Kinabalu was fantastic. The host was incredibly supportive and made sure everything was perfect. The view is breathtaking, and the privacy of the place made it a peaceful retreat. One thing I loved was how clean the whole area was no mosquitoes or flies, even outside. It was such a pleasure to relax without any disturbances. I highly recommend this homestay for anyone looking for a serene and comfortable getaway.

Wellin put in lot of effort & love in caring her little space. She is very warm & hospitality. Wellin's place is a good choice in KM giving very limited options here. Recommended.

Sahlan's house is huge and great! Lots of space to relax and a nice pool. Full kitchen to cook in too. The staff was very helpful, even picking up some groceries for us. Sahlan even arranged for a blender for us on short notice and made sure we had everything we needed. He was a great host and the house staff was great too, especially since we booked on short notice. Recommended!

What a beautiful place to stay near an amazing waterfall, right on the banks of 2 adjoining little rivers. John was a fantastic and interesting host. Very welcoming and hospitable. We highly recommend this beautiful rainforest oasis.

This is such a gem. Northern Borneo is a challenging place to create this kind of beautiful space and Kudat Riviera ticked all of our boxes. If you love wildlife and birds, this is a treat. Thank you for making is feel so welcome and helping to celebrate by birthday. The food was also wonderful.

We had a great stay. Clean & spacious place. Very convenient as there is direct access to the mall from condo lift. Just first time it's confusing to locate the mall entrance. Host is very responsive and able to guide us very fast. We enjoy our stay very much.

The location is good. Not far from the city, the view is nice. The apartment is new with nice design. The best thing is the washing machine, you can dry your clothes after playing water activities. Not many people live in the building, so you can have a private swimming pool to yourselves. There is an orange shop in the lobby and it opens 24 hours. Great

its my second time here..same spot. Strategic for a quick visit in KK..it will be easier if u take grab to go around but if u hv car it will be quite a hassle since the area is popular with traffic jam. Easy to find place to eat downstairs , tapau and eat in. Howsver, i hope the owner can provide house slippers since the floor can be very cold at night.

Our second time staying here. Nice spacious apartment near the sea in Miri. Everything is good here. Only issue is loud motorcycles at night can make it difficult to sleep. That’s not the host’s fault though. Overall, great place to stay when in Miri!
