Our converted barn is in a peaceful location and beautiful setting. In close proximity to a stunning local nature reserve and a short drive from historic Bury St Edmunds and Lavenham. The station in the local village of Thurston offers regular services to Cambridge and Norwich. The area has plenty of country walks, great pubs and restaurants, and the Suffolk coast is within an hours drive.
“We utterly loved staying Hedgerow Barn for a week. It is a gorgeously cosy and stylish space and Nicky and Denzil couldn't have been more welcoming as hosts. Our 11 year old particularly enjoyed getting to know the 5 friendly chickens and the horse and pony. Inside, the barn is spotlessly clean, deliciously comfortable and a pleasure to relax in! So great that essentials such as oil, balsamic, tea, milk etc are provided and that Nicky lets you know beforehand. The table and chairs just outside the front door are perfectly placed for both breakfast in the sun and a glass of wine in the evening as the sun sets. Nicky's folder of info and recommendations were really helpful and we used this as the basis for a chilled out week in Suffolk. We ate at some local pubs and a local winery, visited the zoo, Framlingham Castle, pottered around Bury St Edmunds, went to Aldeburgh for the day and my daughter got to ride twice at two stables Nicky gave us the details of. Holidaying in "Covid-times" takes a little extra planning (eg booking a table at local pub rather than just turning up) but still possible to have a pretty laid-back time, even for non-planners like us! It was hard to drag ourselves away from Suffolk and most especially from Hedgerow Barn.”
Gorgeous room with ensuite and parking! 2 minute walk from the historical and medieval town. Tucked away in a peaceful mews. Elegant home... with a beautiful open plan kitchen dinner. The perfect stay in the heart of Bury St Edmunds.
“Kathryn's place is charming and perfectly positioned for walking into town to a plethora of wonderful restaurants, while having easy access to getting out of town. And when you're done exploring, you can while away the day watching TV from a well-stocked library of wonderful DVDs. Kathryn's personal and comfortable touches are evident throughout, and her vibrant and positive energy is welcoming. Her breakfast choices are abundant and with advance notice, she'll stock you what you personally enjoy. Thanks, again, Kathryn for offering me my home away from home, in Bury. I shall return!”
An artists retreat in an 18th century windmill base on the edge of Sudbury, Suffolk, a small bustling market town in the heart of Gainsborough country. If seeking a cosy, spacious, 'off grid' bolt hole a stone's throw from London we are for you.
“This is a lovely building, a historic old mill, with simple and beautiful decoration. Theo is a wonderful host, full of thoughtful touches (great homemade cherry jam!) but also hangs back when you want your own space. We felt better after our stay there. Would very much recommend for a break from the hustle and bustle.”
