Prep a meal within the funky-modern confines of the kitchen or wander the colorful interiors until you find a sunny spot on the couch. If you prefer to sleep in while on vacation, feel free to close all the wooden shutters to form a comfortable, dark cocoon in the bedroom and pretend like the rest of the world has stopped while you relax. When you are ready to get out and about, venture outside to explore the unique architecture of the Bywater and visit local dives and hangouts! This guest house is a creole-style cottage adjacent to a traditional shotgun (occupied by the host) on a shady corner lot in the Bywater Historic District. Originally built in the 1800s, renovated in 2007, and completely refreshed in 2017, guests will enjoy full, private access to this 600+ square foot, 1 bedroom, 1 bath cottage with a fully appointed kitchen. There is a queen bed in the bedroom plus a West Elm modular couch in the living room that comfortably sleeps one adult. Extra linens and pillows are provided. Flat-screen TV with DirecTV and DVD player. Washer/dryer in unit with supplies. Freshly-squeezed grapefruit and satsuma juice from trees in the courtyard, when in season (October - February)! Guests may feel welcome to sit in the courtyard, with a private patio just outside the living room door. We live on-site, and the door to our home is just across the courtyard from the living room or at the deck by your entry door. Should you need anything, we’re happy to be at your service. Otherwise, we'll leave you to the quiet enjoyment of the space and to enjoy your travels. The guest house is situated in the Bywater Historic District, a Creole neighborhood mostly known for its brightly colored architecture and creative community members. The neighborhood boasts easy access to dining and entertainment, and a number of hotspots are nearby including one of the city’s best brunches, a nano-brewery, and a wine bar with live courtyard jazz multiple times a day! The Crescent Park trail along the river is two blocks away and is a nice gateway to the French Quarter. The Crescent Park trail along the Mississippi Riverfront is two blocks from the house and offers easy bike/pedestrian/wheelchair access to the French Market (about 1.5 miles) along with the rest of the French Quarter beyond (Jackson Square is about 2 miles from the house). Multiple bus routes are within 2-4 blocks of the house, including Bus Route 5 two blocks away that takes you to the Quarter. The Rampart-St. Claude Streetcar Route is approximately 1.6 miles away at the intersection of St. Claude and Elysian Fields. Several local businesses offer scooter and bike rentals within a couple miles of the house, and a bike share station (Blue Bikes NOLA) is located around the corner. Uber/Lyft/rideshares are readily available, typically in 5 minutes or less at most times of day, and cost around $7-$12 to the French Quarter/CBD (or Central Business District as we in New Orleans call our downtown), depending upon traffic, time of day, exact dropoff location, etc. If you are driving your own vehicle, apps like "Spothero" will help you find and compare options for private or paid parking lots and spaces at your destination. On-street parking is typically pretty easy to find and no permit is required/no time restrictions exist. J&J's Sports Bar is across the street. While it can be great for watching a game close-by or for a night cap before you hit the sack, depending upon the day, it can also create conversation noise into the wee hours. One of the highlights of our trip to New Orleans was selecting Angela’s house. It was a joy to stay in a neighborhood that gave me the feeling that I lived in New Orleans. It was the small treats of sitting on the front porch, watching locals walking their dogs and riding their bikes plus exchanging greetings with all that passed by. If you didn’t want to stray far from “home” there were a multitude of excellent restaurants in very close proximity. Above all, was Angela’s house. It was comfortable, furnished tastefully, fully equipped kitchen and quiet. Add to that winning combo was Angela. The perfect host, attentive to helping with anything you needed. Highly recommend staying here.

The Art House was the best Airbnb we have stayed. It was better than the pictures and had absolutely everything you need. Location was perfect. Safe area, close to everything. If you want a true, authentic NOLA experience, it is 100% worth staying here. We were 2 couples and each had our own bedroom with individual AC. Lovely to stay in eat a few nights, listening to music and chilling. Amazing, responsive host, would 100% book next time in NOLA. The art is amazing, true experience!

This is a little gem in Bywater area, which was such a lovely neighborhood to stay in. The studio’s size is perfect for 2 people. There’s no photo of it in the listing but there’s also a tiny living room area with a couch, a coffee table & tv that was perfect for relaxing after our long walks in the city. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a fresh bag of ground coffee, which was much appreciated. The neighborhood is very charming and full of colorful historic houses. There are a bunch of great places to eat & drink nearby (Alma, Frady’s, Suis Generis were some of our faves). All in all this was a great place to stay during our time in NOLA!

This was a clean and comfortable place in the middle of a great neighborhood. It was perfect for our last minute trip to New Orleans. The neighborhood is full of beautiful street art and great people. The room is tastefully decorated with gorgeous and comfortable linens. We had a minor issue with getting back into the room after a night out, but that was user error. Just make sure the door is completely closed when you try the lock code.
