Cairn Garth Cottage

Cairngarth is near Heads Nook village in the upper Eden Valley. The cottage is suitable for families or friends looking to explore the Scottish Borders, Hadrian’s Wall, the Eden Valley, the foothills of the Pennines and the North Lakes and beyond. Heads Nook is 8 miles from Carlisle city centre and 5 miles from the M6. The peaceful country lanes are perfect for cycling or walking. Nearby, Brampton market town has shops and restaurants and there are other country pubs and restaurants in the area.

Herdy Lodge is a contemporary take on a country cottage (Insta =HerdyLodge) It is within our family smallholding on the Northern slopes of the Eden Valley where we farm our happy flock of herdwick sheep. It has a modern, crisp interior and good ecological credentials inc a wood pellet boiler and "passive" building design. It has a private drive and garden with a terrace looking directly onto the lakeland fells. Plenty to do nearby: Takin Tarn, Hadrian's Wall, Lakes and Dales, Rhegged Centre.

An ‘Amazing Spaces’ inspired shipping container conversion, set in a peaceful secluded wildlife friendly garden, at the foot of the Pennine hills. The container is a 5 minute walk from the picturesque Talkin village which has a friendly pub serving food. A woodburning stove (logs supplied) ensures the container stays cosy in all weathers. It makes an excellent base to explore Hadrian's Wall, the North Lakes and the Eden Valley.. or a perfect stop off point on your way to or from Scotland.

We offer a warm welcome to our house in which to feel at home and enjoy a break. A tall window allows light to flood into 2A. The lounge with dining area and sunny kitchen occupy one floor. Upstairs there is a king-size en-suite bedroom, a twin-bedded bedroom and a family shower room. On the upper floor is a beamed, double bedroom. We provide towels and cotton bed linen to give a luxury stay. The kitchen is well equipped. At the back is a patio, small garden and parking for one vehicle.

Talkin village is a lovely location with a great pub. Our cottage is the perfect base to explore Hadrian's wall, the Lake District, Carlisle and the Pennines. We are lucky enough to have the Beautiful Talkin tarn just on our doorstep. The cottage was formerly the village postoffice, it has been fully renovated to high standard and is the perfect place to relax in front of the log burner after a day exploring the local area.
