Bed and breakfast holiday rentals in Central America

We were greeted by David and Penelope upon arrival with a warm welcome. We stayed on the ground level in the 2 bedroom suite with our own kitchenette however we received two wonderful meals per day with request. Our hosts were wonderful, informative, and accommodating arranging for a monkey tour through the Mangroves by boat and informed us of the tortuga release just down the beach from where we were staying so we could take the easy 5 minute walk to watch the release. Oh, speaking of the beach, it was amazing to have such an amazing expanse to walk wash day. We couldn't be more happy with our decision to stay with David and Penelope. Looking forward to our next stay with them.

Esteban’s place was so clean and he was very welcoming. The grounds are beautiful. You can tell he and his wife take much pride and care of the entire property, which seems to include 3 separate apartments. He is available at a reception area from 6:30am-9:30pm, very long hours but reflective of his dedication. We asked about laundry service and he suggested several options, but they offer it for $10/load, which was well worth it to us since we arrived with wet clothes from our prior stop. There were plenty of warm blankets on the bed for the cooler nights. Overall it was a great stay.

Cozy little apartment in a beautiful compound run by friendly and helpful onsite staff. It's a little removed from all the tourism sights and activities, but the garden and pool are lovely to enjoy if you don't mind traveling 15 minutes back and forth by taxi to visit the city. (Actually, a bonus if you're looking to avoid all tourist activities.) The kitchen has only the bare minimum basics, so those who enjoy cooking may find it challenging to prepare meals. No cutting boards, no butter knives, no grater, and other commonly used kitchen items. But if all you need is a microwave and a fork, then you're good to go. Food delivery is available via phone apps, so that might be enough for some people.

This place was beautiful! And the staff there were very friendly and helpful, and not to mention they went above and beyond to make sure we were accommodated to the max! Will definitely come back and stay at this place again!!

Rainbow Valley Lodge was a great place to stay in Monteverde. It was in a quiet location just outside the center of town. Check-in and check-out were simple and the girl at the front was very friendly. They provided a map with local recommendations which was helpful. The room was clean with a beautiful view. Our only request for the future would be to add an A/C unit or fan in the bedroom for warmer nights. Overall, we highly recommend staying here for a Monteverde trip.

Excellent location, a few minutes from downtown Tamarindo and attractions, ideal for a group of friends or family. A whole complex for private enjoyment with your friends or family

A lovely stay not too far from the main part of town. It’s a great deal. I stayed at the hostel and a private here . Both were well worth. I recommend this place to anyone who is staying in monteverde.

Palacio de Dona Beatriz is in a secure gated community. It is very safe and quiet. The facility is more beautful than the photos. The staff was wonderful, kind, helpful and responsive to all our requests. The breakfasts were outstanding and generous. We booked out the whole place for my family to stay while attending my son's wedding. We were busy, with odd hours and stressed at times. The staff was flexible and smoothed the way for us. Everyday! If you think Palacio de Dona Beatriz will meet your needs I would look no further. They have my highest recommendation!

Surrounded by lush jungle greenery and just minutes from the beach, it feels like a hidden gem where nature and comfort coexist perfectly. The container-based architecture is not only unique and stylish, but it also blends beautifully with the environment—modern, minimal, and eco-conscious. Waking up to the sounds of the jungle, sipping coffee on the deck, and walking to the waves in the morning made this stay unforgettable. The entire vibe is peaceful, grounding, and inspiring. Every corner feels thoughtfully designed and deeply connected to nature. Can’t wait to come back—thank you for creating this slice of paradise!

This is a fantastic place. Silvana and Patrick go out of their way to be helpful. They were kind in so many ways and helped me in a ton of ways. The place itself is serene and beautiful. Their dogs are very sweet but if you don’t want to interact, they are well behaved and can stay away. It was a very nice stay at a very nice place. Thank you very much!

If you find yourself in Puntarenas and have a taste for history and true hospitality, Casa Fait is the place to go. The house itself is beautifully and carefully restored to it’s early 20th century splendour, which is completely surreal given today’s reality of the fisherman town. The hosts are beyond welcoming and shared a lot of stories, recommendations, anecdotes and wisdom. It has been a great experience on our journey through Costa Rica.

Jan and Ted were warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. Their place was impeccably clean and they thought of literally everything - even things we might not have thought to ask for - such as motion-sensing nightlights in the bedrooms and binoculars for birdwatching. Breakfast each morning was a treat with lots of local ingredients and thought put into what kinds of things we enjoyed eating. They also gave us several delightful restaurant recommendations. The Cliff House is beautiful, the patio and gardens are beautiful, the view of the valley and volcano is beautiful. It was a great place to relax and unwind after each day's adventures - watching the hummingbirds feed, admiring the view with drinks in hand, and playing pool on the billiards table or board games on the patio. We hope to stay with Jan and Ted again next time we go to Bouquete. They went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional, and we will consider them friends for life.

It’s probably hard to go wrong with Airbnb rentals on Lake Atitlan. That being said, Candis + Cameron + Isa’s retreat space was a heavenly departure from the rest of the world. If you’re looking for off the grid jungle life, you’ll love it! Breakfasts were delightful mixtures of eggs, blue corn tortillas, veggies and cheese. The coffee and most ingredients were locally sourced, with herbs from their garden. We opted for to “take a Tuj” which was their ultra hot sauna. 10/10 recommend, especially since you get to learn about the cultural significance of it. They also recommended various restaurants and activities, and seemed to have a healthy sense of what we were seeking. Overall, I highly recommend Candis’ home for people who are very comfortable in nature.

Guillermo is a very friendly and welcoming host. We felt right at home in a comfortable room. The area is quiet and a relatively short walk to some great restaurants. Short cab ride to downtown and the water taxi to Cayes. Would recommend!

What a wonderful place to stay! Very comfortable, well maintained and lovely amenities. This was the nicest AirB&B property we have stayed at. Nita and Marty were on a vacation of their own, but they were very engaged in our stay, communicating with us daily and their manager Michael attended to our every need. We highly recommend this property!

It's an excellent place. We chose the Villa that includes breakfast, and it was the best decision. They have approximately eight breakfast options to choose from, all delicious and filling. There are options for vegetarians and vegans. To get to the beach, you only have to walk 100 meters to find a sign that says RIP Currents. Be careful, this applies to all Pacific beaches, not just Guasacate. You can swim to the left where there are more people. At night, you can have pizza at Viento Este, which is delicious.They only have pizza on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, if I'm not mistaken. There are other restaurants to the south. Popoyo is also nearby, where you can find restaurants like Oasis, The Salty Koala, and 99 Surf and Lodge. Mahalo also has dining options, and that's where I would recommend they improve by adding more vegetarian options. The staff is incredible; they help you with everything. The indoor parking lot is for three cars, but there's also space outside.

During our staying Costa Rica, we stayed at five different places. This was my absolute favorite! It was private, clean, very peaceful. Elmer and Kyna were available for anything we needed, or suggestions on things to do in the area. Avellanas was also one of my favorite beaches, beautiful waves, and perfect for surf! There was just the right amount to do in the town. Nothing too hectic, but choices of restaurants and places to shop within walking distance of our place. I would stay there again in a heartbeat, and recommend it to anyone!

Such a nice stay in a relaxing environment. Best view into the green mountains, we saw so many birds. Ruth & Andreas were lovely hosts. We can highly recommend.

Excellent! The Airbnb is close, close to all the tourist attractions, a few blocks away is everything; and isolated enough to sleep comfortably, 100% recommended, in addition, Mirna is an excellent Host, friendly, flexible, charismatic.

Incredible AirBNB with the best views in all of SJDS. The house staff made delicious breakfast every morning and were also extremely helpful. Would love to come back and stay here again.

Yes, yes, and yes. Mr. Clifford is a great host, along with Dianna (I think that’s her name). They made us feel like family. The house was clean, the beds comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. I definitely will recommend and most likely with stay there again if I have a group of people traveling with.
