Holiday rentals with lake access in County Roscommon

We were a group 12 people and had a wonderful time over the weekend...the place is so beautiful and peaceful...i would definitely recommend this house..!! The host (Andrew) was very helpful and responsive...he allowed a little late checkout for us as we had some elderly people in our group. If anyone visits Mayo, you can definitely stay here and enjoy the beautiful nature here...!!!!

Desde o inicio procuravamos uma casa para acomodar a minha familia de 6 pessoas que iria viajar de Portugal para visitar a minha filha e namorado. Encontrámos uma casa com as condições que pareciam ser perfeitas e num local lindissimo. O David mostrou-se sempre muito simpáitico, acessivel e disponível Quase na data de ir para a Irlanda perguntei ao David se poderia alterar a nossa reserva de 6 para 8 possoas e a resposta foi de imediato afirmativa. Ao chegar à casa não houve surpresas. Era exactamente de acordo com as fotos e como descrito nos comentários. Encontrámos uma casa com sabor a casa. Muito aconchegante, confortável, com o essencial para viver. Bem decorada e quentinha. Como planeamos viajar para a Irlanda com alguma frequencia, certamente a casa do David será a nossa primeira escolha. Muito obrigada por tanto David.

Excellent hosts therefore we had a wonderful stay at Driney House and hope to return. 😀 All the kids were so happy they could all bunk in together in the room with all the beds, like a proper sleepover, telling ghost stories with a torch. 👻 We stayed for three days and happily never left the grounds. It was so relaxing to take in the view while the kids had plenty of activities to keep them entertained, out in the fresh air getting plenty of exercise. They would have even slept on the trampoline!😀 The pool was a great hit, there is no deep end as such so it was great for the kids, and great to play volleyball. There were life vests available for use in a range of sizes for those that couldn’t swim. From the first contact the hosts were amazing, they were so helpful with a great generosity of spirit. A lovely family with a very special guest house. It’s like an activity centre with the most amazing views on the lake…..but the bonus is you have it all to yourself! 😀

This bungalow was a great place to stay. We had two weeks with family. Ideal situation. So quiet and peaceful. Loads of space in and around the property. Athlone was just a short drive away. Had awesome pizza! And great shops. SuperValue supermarket was fantastic for food shopping. And all cooked in the comfort of Ruth’s home. The oven was amazing!! Shame we didn’t have the dishwasher but we were on holiday so plenty of time to wash dishes. Well stocked with everything you would need. Washing machine was a great addition - especially for longer stays like ours. Ruth was so responsive and a pleasure to deal with. Thank you so much for having us stay in your wonderful home. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a quiet, yet close to town holiday. But you need a car!!

LOVED BEECH COTTAGE. John and Rose were very welcoming nothing was a bother. The cottage is in the most peaceful and beautiful location right on the banks of the Shannon. Everything has been thought of and catered for. Comfortable beds cosy home and 2 bathrooms. The children loved it here feeding the pony and donkey and just able to run round outside. Lucky John and Rose's dog is very friendly and very cute so is Tom the cat. Watching the fox in the field coming to be fed is amazing. Carrick needed but close drive to all amenities. We cannot wait to go back. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Fabulous stay. House was beautiful and had everything we wanted for our trip. Hot tub was a definite highlight. Very comfortable with spectacular views. House is down a narrow country lane so just be aware of that. Would recommend highly for a lovely relaxing stay.

Conor's house is just awesome. Loved staying there from the cosy sitting/TV room, to the bright open kitchen/dining areas and the wonderful bedrooms. The beds we used were super comfortable and the linen was high quality and felt so nice. Conor is an amazing host who is very kind. Not only did he meet, he also left some food for us - sausages, bacon, eggs, milk, bread etc. Just wonderful. His mum is also super nice. You need a car. There is only one place to eat - O'Dowds pub (100 metres approx. away) however only open for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday from lunchtime to 6 pm. Ballaghadareen is about 15 mins away with more options.

This is a gem of an apartment up a few stairs inside. It was extremely clean, well laid out and everything looked brand new. Very comfortable bed and loads of hanging space. Gerry met us and showed us around the apartment and how things worked and he was extremely considerate. There is a large balcony with outdoor chairs and a table which we appreciated. We really recommend a stay here especially as it is a few minutes walk to the river with lovely walks alongside..

We enjoyed our stay in the spacious and well equipped house that our host Philip arranged for us (due to the power loss cause by a storm in the original house, Philip suggested a Carrick self catering house in Carrick-on-Shannon). Located right in the center, we had a private parking, pubs and restaurants at our doorstep and a view on the beautiful Carrick marina. Philip was very friendly and helped us feel super welcome. All in all, a nice cosy house in a perfect central location.

Immaculate place to stay in the countryside! Beautifully kept rooms and all the modern conveniences provided. Nicola and Michael are very warm and welcoming! They had great tips for dinners out, provided us with wellies for walking about their land, and made sure we were comfortable. The setting is serene and relaxing!! It was a great “home base” for doing genealogy work in neighboring counties, and is well situated for great day trips. The kitchen had everything we needed for making meals. Thanks!!

We had a wonderful stay and rented the full space—perfect for our family. Michael and Nicola are everything Airbnb was meant to be: warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. Unlike many hosts these days who are remote owners, they live on-site and truly care about their guests. They greeted us with enthusiasm and gave great tips on local sights. Our 6-year-old daughter had an amazing time playing with their daughter (also 6). The property is very family-friendly with a zip line, tennis court, playhouse, trampoline, and two friendly dogs who acted as our guides on peaceful walks. The private suite was quiet and comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. This was a personal, memorable experience—highly recommended!

This place exceeded our expectations, it’s was a lovely apartment! We all slept comfortably. Great view of the Shannon River. We hope to come back again!

Lovely apartments, quiet area but only 2 minutes walk from town. Looking forward to staying there again.

Its a great spot and located just perfect. Quiet and comfortable and great for walks in the area. Coming up the driveway to the house shows how much the premises are looked after. The pond, the garden, the grass... Just perfect and so nice. We pay great respect that this house is pet friendly as we had our dog with which was no problem at all. The town itself is just 5 minutes drive away and offers everything you need. We would recommend this house any time.

The property is on a wonderful lakeside location. Peaceful and private with easy access to the lake. A great spot.

We stayed at Jim's cottage on the 2nd leg of our tour of Ireland, the peace & quiet of this area as well as the local history was much appreciated. We were able to visit two of the O'Rourke castle sites as well as O'Rourke's Table which was a pretty streneous hike but well worth the effort, I only regret not having more time to explore & fish the many canals & lakes in the area. Overall the cottage was nearly perfect for our stay & would definately recommend! Thanks, Jim & Erin Paul Roark

it was fantastic holiday for us family trip, the house was copyright beside the Shannon, my husband loves fishing, it was the dream, location is easy to get around, 10 mins to tesco, McDonald's, carrick on shannon Town has lost nice good restaurants, lovely staying

Grande maison au calme en pleine campagne. Lac sympathique à proximité mais il faut chercher un peu pour y accéder.

My family and I had a wonderful visit! We were close to the sites we wanted to see and also loved walking the path along the canal where we saw cute little ducklings. We felt very warmly welcomed by Kelli and were impressed with how spacious but cozy this space was.
