Holiday houses in Daroeiras

Marten’s place was by far our favourite air bnb stay to date! The location was almost too good to be true. The tent is set in the middle of a nature reserve and you really feel like you are the only people for miles. It was beautiful, peaceful and very romantic. Watching the sun set over the dunes on an evening was perfect. Then just a short walk through dunes and you’re on a fantastic beach!! Marten left extra special touches that we really appreciated- a bottle of wine on arrival and some candles to light by the tent as the sun went down. There is a toilet, hot shower and kitchen located towards the main house which were great. We cooked here a couple of nights and found we had all the amenities - pots, pans, plates, burner etc. Marten was a fantastic host. The place was clean comfy and we even got extra blankets incase we got cold (we didn’t!). He was great at offering expert advice on which beaches were best for surfing etc. We will be back!

We spent a month in André's house and had a blast. The house is in a great location for those who seek tranquility and nature, but also close enough to shops, restaurants and beaches. It was spot-on clean and has a fireplace for those colder days. Comfortable and huge bed. André was super-responsive, friendly, and helpful. It was a great stay overall!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pedro's place. The house had everything we needed and more. From pool towels to two coffee machines, one of which was a Smeg same as the one I have at home - a joy to see - the coffee drinkers on Airbnb will fully appreciate that. The host was great - quick to respond to any questions we had, gave great recommendations and was generally very helpful and friendly. We visited one of the restaurants upon recommendation and loved the food and the ocean view. The bottle of Muscatel upon arrival was a nice touch, too. The villa was in a rural location, which we were well aware of, and it was a conscious choice. Thankfully, the instructions we received to get there were so detailed that we found it very easily. Thanks for being a great host, Pedro! We would love to visit again!

A artisanal house immersed in nature, surrounded by beautiful mounds where you often see sheep grazing in the pastures. In the immediate surroundings you will find a variety of flora and a thriving ecosystem in which multiple species of beetles, bumblebees, spiders and butterflies are common sight (good indicator of a healthy environment). At sundown - as I am writing in late May with 27°C - you hear the frogs croaking in the nearby puddle which is within the property, and throughout the night, the nightsky is clear of artificial lights, so you can see plenty of stars. There are also, naturally, a lot of bugs in the night, but we didn't have many problems keeping them out of the house, being careful with opening and closing the door. The house kept a perfect temperature during the night, without the need for any heating. Its design is clever and aesthetically very interesting. We had a wonderful time and fully recommend this place.

The villa is exactly as shown in the pictures - beautiful and very well maintained. We were particularly impressed by the fantastic view of the mountains and the wonderful pool, ideal for cooling off. The beach can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes, by car it takes a few minutes. Communication was always fast and helpful, check-in even worked smoothly at 2 a.m. We felt completely comfortable and would be happy to come back!

We stayed 6 nights at Bas’ place and expected to use it as a base to explore the Alentejo region. Instead we found the home and the town to be so lovely, we only went out one day to the seashore (which was amazing even in mid April). Bas has created a space with everything you need, including a beautiful view, and we appreciated the artistic designs of the space and the furniture. The hilly quaint town of Odemira was beginning its April celebrations of justice and liberty and we were lucky enough to catch a concert of many local choral groups singing the Cante Alentejano style. As for delicious Portuguese food, try the cataplana de tamboril at O Tarros (we ate there 3 times) and the bola de berlim at cafe Rita. And of course, the Alentejano wines. What a treat to experience what Bas has discovered. And he made it so easy with great instructions and communication. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful time! The hospitality was amazing! We will come back in this beautiful place.

We had requested Filipe's cottage as a stop on the Fischerweg at very short notice (on the same day). And although there was so little time, Filipe reacted immediately and welcomed us. Since there is a washing machine in the house, it was perfect to freshen up the clothes from the backpack. On the beautiful roof terrace, we could put our feet up and enjoy the evening. In the immediate vicinity, there is a small supermarket where you can stock up on everything you need. Unfortunately, it was only one night but we would come back anytime
