We absolutely love this rental. The stunning view out the windows is breath-taking for us land-locked Iowans. Watching the eagles, barges, blue herons, fishing boats, fish jumping never grew old. The sturdy, safe dock is a wonderful place to spend time. Our daughter fished, I sat on the bench and read. So peaceful. We had an issue with the coffee maker. In fewer than 30 minutes, Jane brought another one for our use. She is great to respond to messages quickly, no waiting forever to hear from her. Such a considerate host. We were able to park our car in the garage which was a huge plus for me. The train track is pretty much in the front yard which is obvious from the pictures. The trains didn't bother us. Yes, they are somewhat loud, blow the whistle at Lansing, but we enjoyed watching them. The location was perfect for us to enjoy the surrounding towns and attractions. I would highly recommend Jane and her rental. I have nothing to complain about. Jane, thanks for your rental.

This was our second time at the River Shack and it didn’t disappoint. Theresa is very friendly and responsive! I will recommend her place to anyone staying in the area. The river views and the garage are perfect!

I loved our stay with Ashley at Paint Creek Place! It was quiet, peaceful and clean! The place was very cozy and allowed us to watch tv, cook, enjoy nature and disconnect! We also brought along our dog who very much enjoyed the creek and the smells along the way. Thank you Ashley! I would stay again :)

Wow! What an absolutely PERFECT space for our relaxing family get away. Clean, bright, and so peaceful! My wife loved cooking in the fully stocked kitchen, the teens enjoyed the gaming center, and the fire pit was a great space for us all to catch up. Even made a new friend- a friendly tabby cat we named “Meow”. Wouldn’t change a thing and we can’t wait for our next stay!

After a long day of biking it was awesome to pull up to this charming home. This welcoming home has ample space, was very clean and full of character. The beds were super comfy! Enjoyed our summer evening on the back porch, taking in the peace and quiet. Although we were only there for one night, we could easily have stayed several in this comfortable home.

Great spot. Not far out of town and plenty of room. We had 4 adults, a baby and a dog and didn’t feel cramped at all! Elise was quick to respond with any questions we had. Would stay again.

We had a wonderful stay! The home was clean and comfortable and they thought of all the extras we might need.

The host, Chris, was AMAZING. He was very responsive to all messages and he responded very fast to any and all messages. The town and surrounding area was beautiful and I ended up falling in love with the area and the people in the area. The people at the grocery store were very nice and they made us feel very welcomed and it was easy for us to build a relationship with those in the town. The property was nice and fit the pictures. The only downside was that there isn't really a yard, but you really don't need one for all the other amenities provided.

Great place for a quiet retreat with the whole family

We loved our week at Lori’s place. The pool, the hot tub and the massage chair made it easy for us to fully relax and wind down for the week. The kitchen was also well equipped, but we also enjoyed some of the local restaurants as well and they were fabulous as well. The touch of local menus on the welcome pack helped us choose fun local spots. Would absolutely book this location again.

We loved our trip, but he only small issue we had that we couldn’t figure out was on the very last night we lost wifi, but it made us truly disconnect so it was a blessing in disguise! We had such a great time in the hot tub, and the land is so beautiful and peaceful. We had such an amazing time there is nothing i would change!

Absolutely loved the stay!! We had a big summer birthday bash with all of our friends! The house and location worked perfectly for all of us. The view in Lansing is stunning and there’s plenty of great fishing spots for all you fisherman out there! Thank you again for the stay!!

This place had more the enough space for my small family and is in a beautiful and quiet area !

This place is incredibly convenient. Unlike others, it smells wonderful. It's like arriving at a spa. There's plenty of filtered mineral water, everything for cooking, condiments, etc., and even a couple of chocolates. I don't think I'll forget that. There's only one small, temporary inconvenience: they're repairing the street in front, but it's not a problem. There's still good parking and easy access. I highly recommend it!

Looking for a relaxing weekend with the family with a ton of potential for memories that last a lifetime? Look no further than this hidden gem in De Soto. I've frequently traveled south craving "southern hospitality", little did I know, just a couple hours north had "Midwestern hospitality"! Justin was very responsive initially when asking about his property, very knowledgeable about surrounding activities as well as great watering holes if you catch my drift. The cabin is decorated perfectly and it immediately makes you take a deep breath and smile knowing that you are home. There is plenty of room for you and your family to stretch out, play games, go fishing off of your own private dock, walk to the Rivers Edge and grab a bite to eat (less than a 5 minute walk), etc. If you've got a boat, bring it!! Don't miss out on the local wineries at your stay either! rate 10/5! Can't wait to return!

We just finished up a stay at Jans cabin, for 5 days of duck hunting. the place was as described, very comfortable, and the beds slept well after long days on the water. We will definitely be booking again for the next duck hunting trip.

Perfect location and scenery if you are looking to get off of the grid but still want access to restaurants and small-town amenities nearby. Host is very responsive and answered all of our questions prior to booking. Everything was as it is described in the listing so we felt our experience was exactly as we expected for privacy, accomodations, etc. We will definitely be booking another stay here in the near future!

We had a fantastic stay. The instructions for everything were clear and we had no issues. The cabin is cozy and was perfect for our trip. We had kids (4, 6 and 7) who loved the trains going by and would glue themselves to the window each time. We’d absolutely stay again.

7 girls on their 1st ever girls trip to a remote cabin in the woods.... 10/10 recommend! The drive there was beautiful, lots of wildlife to see, even on the property. The cabin is just like the pictures. There are the bare essentials as far as kitchen/bathroom supplies, but this isn't the ritz, its a cabin. There is quite the eclectic taste of knick knacks everywhere throughout the cabin. It was fun fiding different treasures througout the weekend and even sometimes comical. We unfortunately were not able to use the hot tub because it was being replaced but the hosts worked with us on ways to compensate us to make up for it. I've never met Charity but after having one conversation with her on the phone, she felt like my best friend after! We enjoyed reading, walks, plenty of games, Bob Ross paintings on the patio and laughing until we were crying. We only had one close encounter with a rabbit upon our arrival but we all fared well in the end! We will definitely be trying to come back!
