Comfortable home in beautiful surroundings. Really responsive and friendly host. En-suite bathrooms to each bedroom and the beds were super comfy. Great parking and charger for electric car - lovely walks nearby along the river and the horse in the field behind had just given birth to a foal so our daughter was mesmerised. Oh I forgot the hot tub - that was great too!

What a wonderful place for a peaceful break away. The house was so comfortable with all the amenities needed. The hot tub was a lovely addition too! My son, who loves wildlife photography, absolutely adored the river. He spent every possible moment down there photographing Kingfishers! I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves birds and wildlife.

Beautiful location for a lovely farm stay, great views from the hot tub! Loved being able to watch the cows and sheep. Claire was lovely and was ready to help at any moment despite us arriving so late at night! Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!

We arrived on the Friday for a 3 night stay. The Barn is in a beautiful place inside and out. The Hot Tub was lovely on an evening and the patio fire was great to sit around for drinks early evening watching the Sun go down. Casterton village is only a couple of miles from Kirkby Lonsdale. The village its self had a gorgeous pub 7 mins walk from the Barn which had a great range of food and served Sourdough pizza on Sunday evening after 1700hrs with a lovely warm atmosphere and open fires. There is a great taxi service and some fabulous restaurants near to the Barn. The Black Bull and the Highwayman were fabulous. (We did go to Number 9 also and it was not somewhere I could recommend, service and food really poor.) Patrick and Anika were great responsive hosts and this is a do not miss property, that offers every you need for a fabulous stay. Our little group loved it. Thank you Karen, Denise and Naomi

We have just returned from a few nights away staying at this little piece of paradise. If you’re after a tranquil, relaxing holiday then this is the place to stay. From the house itself, to the spectacular views , the amazing pool house and the lovely, friendly neighbours, this place ticks all the boxes and more. Highly recommend visiting The Queens Arms for a meal (or just a cheeky drink), the staff are so friendly and just made our time away extra special. Malham is only a 20 min (ish) drive away and is stunning (a must see). The only thing I would advise is to make sure you take plenty of supplies (or do an online shop for delivery as we did) as the local shop is a 20min drive away. Thankyou again David, we will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful stay at Silver Howe, the cottage was perfect for exploring the Lakes. It was a real home from home with a handy local shop and pub. The private fenced garden was great as we had our dog with us, it also kept out the local sheep! Would recommend Rebecca’s place for a visit, it was clean, has great amenities and lots of character and charm. The lovely walk along the river to Elterwater is recommended, as is a stop at the Britannia Inn, the food was very good. Overall a great stay, thank you.

Beautiful modern rustic cottage in the countryside, exactly what you want if you want peace, comfort and luxury. Emma & Gregor are amazing! Great communication and little extra treats to greet you when you arrive ! Absolutely recommend!

We had a fantastic stay at this lovely cottage on Wastwater. The setting is stunning — right on the lake and surrounded by beautiful walking routes, perfect for exploring with our 18-month-old and dog. The cottage is tucked away on a peaceful farm with a great outdoor seating area to enjoy the views. It’s quite remote, with the nearest proper shop about 30 minutes away, but the nearby campsite shop (just half a mile down the road) had the essentials we needed. Other than that, everything was perfect. A truly relaxing break in a beautiful location — we’d definitely recommend it!

Incredible location, easy parking, modern, clean and free of clutter. Comfy beds and a great shower. Made a 5 day stay really comfortable.

My husband and I (and our two dogs) had our mini-moon here and it was just the relaxing break we needed. The dogs settled straight away and it's the most sleep we've had in years. A real gem. It’s better than the photos show. Full of character yet modern standards and amenities. Quality furnishings and kitchen equipment. Excellent mattress, soft, comfortable sheets and towels. So lovely that it’s family owned from someone born and still living in the area. Everything has been thought through so well equipped. Can’t wait to come back. We loved every minute of our stay. Well located in the village with easy walking just a few minutes to the Farmers Arms pub ora 30 minute walk into Keswick. Set back from the road so quiet at night. Only downside is the lack of parking so car has to be some distance away on the road, however you can take the car to the front door for loading and unloading. Comfortable bed and nice and clean. Will definitely look to book again when next over in the Lakes.

Michael's place was a perfect base for our 5 days in the Lakes. The house was really well set up with a fully equipped kitchen, balcony with great views, wood burner and TV with netflix. The bed was super comfy although as others have noted there are low ceilings downstairs (where bedrooms and bathroom are) so not ideal if you're tall. I'm 6ft and I could just get away without ducking when walking around, however the shower was awkward to use and I had to contort myself to avoid bumping my head. That's a minor issue though as otherwise the place was great. The location is also very convenient for accessing lots of lovely parts of the Lakes - we didn't need to use the car for 2 of the days, spending one on Ullswater and Aire Force waterfalls, and another climbing Helvellyn, both walkable from the house.

A great Airbnb in the traditional fashion we enjoy: ie hosts live next door and greet you in person. The cottage itself is 5* and the garden a delight. Thoroughly recommend.

Lovely clean cottage, exactly As described, decorated lovely throughout with attention to detail. We loved the big map in the kitchen. Also loved the river greta running behind the property. It’s in a great location for Keswick just a 10min walk to the centre. The pub opposite was perfect and we also loved the milk shed across the road at the garage. Would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone stopping in the Keswick area

Our second stay in Ridgeway Cottage; we love the stunning views from the huge picture windows and the convenient location for exploring the Lakes. We may be back again!

Jem’s Conga’ was the perfect spot to explore Ambleside and the nearby towns of Bowness, Grasmere and Keswick. Jem was a brilliant host who shared ideas of walks and things to keep us occupied in the rain. A comfortable, homely, cosy cottage in a stunning and peaceful setting.

This was our third time staying here. The children (2 and 5) love it: the trampoline in the garden and the books, games and toys inside. It's so spacious and comfortable that staying inside if the weather is bad does not leave you feeling cooped up. The location is wonderful. You can walk straight out the door and up Blencathra plus lovely walks in every other direction too. Also great for cycling. With a half hourly bus service to Penrith and Keswick (with onward connections to much of the Lake District) it's easy to get around. Jonny is super helpful with any needs you might have and makes you feel so welcome.

I have no hesitation in recommending. The property is exactly as advertised and we loved the way the space has been designed and utilised. The bed was really comfortable. We had a long journey to Mosser and were delighted with the beautiful outside area where our dog could run around. Communication with Hazel and directions were all excellent. We had a great stay. This is our 3rd year at Mary Meadows and we wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else in the Lakes. Well equipped, clean, comfortable, extremely quiet, and so nice of Joanne to knock on the door and make sure everything was ok! Walking distance to the newly refurbished Royal Hotel that serves great beer and food, and to Gowbarrow Fell and the spectacular Aira Force waterfalls. Everything else in the Lakes just a short drive away. Avoid the hustle and bustle and chill out in Dockray! A very friendly neighbour too, who's a bit untidy, but lovely genuine welcoming chap and full of great stories about the area. A highly recommended place to stay!
