Holiday rentals with a kayak in Door County

We had a great time at Porch Time over Memorial Day weekend! The place is right on the lake, which made for a wonderful view. Four of us stayed with our two dogs. The cabin was clean and cozy, and it had everything we needed. The backyard is even better than the pictures—perfect for hanging out, and we loved using the kayaks to get out on the water. Mornings on the porch with coffee and evenings around the fire pit were the perfect way to relax. We ate across the street at sunset grill which was recommended by Scott and was delicious. If you’re looking for a laid-back spot to hang out on the lake, Porch Time is a great pick. We’d love to come back!

Dan & Beth said they wanted us to feel at home and we certainly did! We had 7 adults in our group & we talked about the house & cost to stay there. We all agreed it was absolutely worth every cent. Dan couldn’t have been more helpful whenever we reached out with a question. Being right on the beach was magical. Fires at night with a plentiful supply of dry wood was a nice surprise! Anything you could possibly think of was at our disposal! Even the refrigerator was pristine, which in my experience, doesn’t always happen in a rental. We will miss Sandvik house!

We had a wonderful stay! The chalet was so charming and I’d definitely stay there again. It was super accessible to all the local towns, nothing took more than 20 minutes. Great local beaches and restaurants. The area was very quiet and the views were breathtaking!

6 adults shared the house, it was just as advertised, clean, private, comfortable, plenty of room for all of us. The location was perfect, right on the lake, plenty of food, drink and outdoor activities just a short drive away. We had a very enjoyable family reunion here and would recommend staying here to anyone. Communication with the hosts was excellent, responses were made quickly and accurately. Erin is a fantastic host and made our visit to Door County memorable. We were a large group of 14 and Erin made everything seamless and stress free. The property is beautiful and is a short walk away from the lake and local shops. Lots of good restaurants in nearby Sister Bay within a 10 min drive. I highly recommend The Ephraim House for any group traveling to Door County. We can't wait to be back.

Great location right on the lake and a 20ish min drive to the door county towns for activities. We used the kayaks every day and had a fire on the water which was my favorite part. It was a quiet and peaceful street for walks. The host was very present and messaged throughout the stay to ensure we were alright - although we never ran into issues. I wish there had been beach towels in addition to the white towels we used in the bathroom - however they do provide a washer & dryer so we washed the towels after using from the hot tub/lake. Also the hot tub is only for 2 adults - we tried to squeeze 4 in and it was tight.

The cottage was clean and well maintained. The backyard was perfect for yard games and relaxing. Lots of extra supplies were available which was a nice surprise.

From the moment we arrived at this stunning property, we knew we were in for a treat. The attention to detail was truly remarkable. The hosts clearly have an eye for design, and it created an atmosphere that was both inviting and relaxing. What really stood out to us was the flexibility that our hosts provided. They were incredibly accommodating with our check-in and check-out times, which made our stay all the more enjoyable. They even reached out before our arrival to ensure we had everything we needed. The property itself was immaculate and equipped with all the amenities we could have possibly needed. We particularly loved the outdoor space, which was perfect for morning coffee and evening relaxation under the stars.

We really enjoyed our stay! The house was clean and well-equipped with everything we needed for the weekend. There were lots of fun games, cool music gear, and a great view. The step to the front door is a bit of a hazard, so just something to be aware of. The photos make the space look a little larger than it actually is, but it was still comfortable. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate so we couldn’t fully enjoy the deck and water, but we’d definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful long weekend in this super cozy, extremely clean home where we had everything we needed. The view and sunsets were amazing, and we enjoyed the backyard even though the weather was a little chilly. Check in was easy and Natasha was very responsive. We would definitely recommend staying here and would love to come back again!

We enjoyed our stay! The sandy beach and view of Lake Michigan was amazing. The cabin is in a wonderfully peaceful area. There was plenty of games and activities for kids and we enjoyed a bike ride! Loved the cozy three season porch. It was a great place to stay and could see us there again in the future.

First off -- this place already goes beyond expectations on the things you would expect from your airbnb stay: it's clean, it's easy to get inside, host communicates well, comfortable beds, etc. etc. But for the unexpected... it's the charm of this little cottage that had us totally smitten. It was the first time in a really long time that I stayed in an airbnb that didn't feel like some cold-sterile-side-hustle from some rando. This place is the real deal... the pictures are too understated. It looks like an old place, but you know that Pam has put in the work to make this place feel comfortable for her guests. Wifi is spotty, but man, it got us off our phones and connected with nature, and each other. If you're looking to connect with your friends and/or fam and have an outstanding green bay view to wake up to every morning and sunsets to mesmerize you every evening, you can't go wrong wit this place. Thanks Pam -- you're a star!!

We spent four nights in the cabin and truly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was pristine and offers a lovely, wide view of the bay. Don and Pam have made an effort to offer not only that built-in view, but also front and back yards with pretty flowers and plants. They have also clearly made an effort to offer up a pretty home with many special touches. We appreciated that the cabin was stocked with many helpful items, such as Saran, baggies, coffee, seasonings - all the things you don't want to have buy and then toss at the end of a trip barely used. Plus, we found this area to be a good jumping off point for the entire peninsula and handy to the necessities, such as a grocery store in Sturgeon Bay. We also enjoyed many walks around the neighborhood, which is woodsy and beautiful.

This is the second time we’ve stayed at Winding River Cottages and we absolutely love it. Located just outside of town, it is a private space on the water that is teeming with wildlife and beautiful sunrises and sunsets. It’s perfect for fishing, relaxing by the campfire and exploring surroundings from the kayak. It is clear that the owners take pride in their cottages, as they have made significant updates since we last stayed - new pergolas, charming outdoor lighting and a beach! We hope this space is available the next time we return!

Space feels very private. Big kitchen. Lovely fire pit, outdoor patio area. Everything was great at Amber’s place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gwen’s place. We were just steps away from the beautiful, peaceful lake, a brand new pier, and the pretty fire pit. The house is full of games, books, and puzzles. The shared shed is full of life vests, kayaks, etc. We brought our dog and there was a very thoughtful welcome basket for him! He also loved his stay. The lake is shallow in front of the cabin so it was not good for fishing off the pier, but our boys still loved trying. Ellison bay is a short, 7 min drive away. We went to the Mink River Basin for dinner. The kids loved the arcade games. Newport State Park Beach is also very close and gorgeous! Lots of trails to hike. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice area, a little out of the way with a fire pit by the river. It was very peaceful and not too much a drive from local attractions like the farm, cave point and sturgeon bay

Such a beautiful cabin on a protected bay of Lake Michigan but still see enough to feel the big water and hear the waves crashing. Awesome fire place great place to sit and read and relax by the fire. Lots to do nearby, if you want to leave. The hosts are excellent and welcoming. Would love to go back! Pet friendly is a plus.

This cabin is very nice! Location is peaceful with no one around. It was great to bring our dog and have a big space he could run around outside. It was great having the hot tub to relax in! Had tons of amenities/kitchen items and anything you may need for the stay. We will definitely be back!

Our 1st Annual Family Vacation to Door County was the most enjoyable time away for our grown family!! Our Airbnb host Gail provided an amazing cottage on the bay! The cottage was the perfect place and size for our family of 8! We felt right at home the entire visit!! Despite the cooler/wet weather during our stay, this didn't affect anything about our stay! We were still able to utilize the paddle boat, the kayaks, play games outside and inside, have bonfires and enjoy each others company!! This Airbnb is a gem and we look forward to booking next years family vacation there again! Hearing my kids say, "lets do this again next year Mom and Dad and book this same place" made it all worth it!! The memories made last weekend will last a lifetime!! Thanks again Gail for sharing your piece of heaven to us!!

Our stay at the Dockside Retreat was absolutely fantastic! The home offered a peaceful stay, with plenty of options for adults and children. We loved the quiet canal and kayaks, neighborhood family walks and cannot say enough about the pool, hot tub and fire pit areas! There was plenty of room for our family to spread out, while enjoying time together in the open floor plan of the main living spaces. Beautifully decorated and clean throughout, with many thoughtful touches. Jenny and Jeff were quick to respond with questions we had, and went above and beyond for all of our time—thank you again!!

Pictures don't tell how beautiful it actually is. It is very quiet. No noise from the neighbors. A lot of space and things to do. The cabin was very clean and had a ton of things ready for us, like bottled water, snacks and coffee. Everything was new or in perfect condition. Fishing was awesome. We caught variety of decent sized fish - from bluegills to catfish and sturgeon. We watched bald eagles and turtles while kayaking. We enjoyed every moment of our stay - best cabin we have ever rented! Thank you, Kayla!

Absolutely loved this trip. A wonderful welcome basket with wine and snacks was waiting for us upon arrival. We made full use of the fireplace to stay nice and warm during the cold, snowy weekend. Being right along the river was amazing and made for a beautiful view. We utilized the snow shoes to walk along the frozen river and creek which was extremely fun. This was the best cabin we’ve stayed in and we will be sure to recommend to anyone looking for a great place to spend the weekend.

My family and I had a wonderful time at time at this place! Property that’s right by the shores of Lake Michigan is a dream. We enjoyed the kayaks and fire pit by the beach. The house itself is cozy and has very interesting decor with lots of charm. It is clean, organized and well stocked. We hope to be back!
