Ever wanted to know what it felt like to live in a one room log cabin? Now you have the chance! This cabin from the 1840s was meticulously reassembled on a 500 acre farm. The cabin sits right on the James River. Come and enjoy the quiet, the river and the scenery and forget the hustle and bustle of the city. No electric or water but a great fireplace, bed and porch overlooking the river. Lots of hiking trails and a canoe provided. We have just added an outdoor Kichen and bath facility
“We had such a wonderful, quiet, and peaceful stay to celebrate our anniversary! While the water was a bit high to take out the kayaks, our dogs enjoyed going for a swim, and we had some much needed R&R at the cabin with s’mores, card games, and conversation. It was idyllic for getting away from everyday life. We loved the outdoor kitchen and taking a step back in time using the “stove” :) Dan and crew have really thought of everything you’ll need for your stay and the main house is just a short trip through the woods if anything is awry. We’ll definitely be back!”
Total privacy and solitude await you at this cabin on a 500 acre live working farm with animals. Mikes of private James River Frontage. Take a swim. Go on a adventurous hike. Hug the warm morning sun. Immerse yourself in the sounds of wilderness. This cozy secluded cabin offers a peaceful atmosphere, with complete beauty on 2 large decks! No running water but inside solar lighting and a Wood burning stove on the second floor and a propane heater on the first floor keep things warm and cozy!
“The cabin is such a gem. The view is out of this world amazing. The privacy is also great. My kids LOVED the farm and river. The cabin is so charming that you almost forget there is no electricity or running water. There is a shower and fridge you can use by the main farmhouse. Dan and his team really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The housekeeper mailed our items we forget at the cabin. Dan drove up to our spot to say hi and we chatted with the other families on the farm as well as a employee taking care of the fields. I booked this cabin for my kids but me and my husband loved it just as much. We will definitely be returning.”

“What a darling place! The apartment is clean and comfy as well as architecturally unique. Amy was a great hostess and answered questions quickly. We enjoyed the river and pipe plant view, walking the Blackwater Trail, and eating at the Depot Grill. My husband had to join a Zoom meeting for work while there and was able to do so with no problems or interruptions. I would recommend Amy and her River House Apartment any time!”
