Cosy Yorkshire Dales cottage in idyllic setting

SimonRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
A charming cottage in an idyllic location. I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a quiet comfortable retreat in the Yorkshire Dales. There is superb hiking straight from the front door and I can recommend the short adventurous walk across the fields to the Bolton Arms pub at Downholme. The cottage was comfortable and cosy. It has some quirky features you would expect of a very old stone built home, so don't have unreasonable expectations of a hotel-style accommodation, enjoy the individual charm of this place, which is furnished and equipped to a high standard. We cooked in most evenings and found the kitchen to be very well equipped, even for baking. If you prefer to go out, Richmond is a short drive away with many restaurants and shops. We loved our stay at this cottage and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Phil's Cottage. Sleeps 2 maximum 1 dog

JoannaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Myself, my husband and our 5 month old little boy had a lovely stay at Phil’s Cottage. It’s easy to see why Phil’s Cottage has so many excellent reviews! It’s a gorgeous cottage, very clean and in a lovely setting. Hosts were friendly and very responsive. Definitely the most equipped kitchen in a cottage we have stayed in - we had everything we needed! We really appreciated the fresh eggs and welcome pack too, a lovely surprise. Excellent for staying with a baby - plenty of room for a travel cot, a bath (with a baby bath provided) and even a small table in the bedroom for setting up night feeds, it was perfect. We had a great stay and will definitely be back, thanks so much!

What can I say? what an incredible place to stay. Bill was a supreme host, always helpful to make sure that you are comfortable whilst also giving advice on activities to try and places to go. the location is stunning! right next to the water, makes you feel safe and relaxed. inside is roomy, comfortable, I love the layout. many walks around, if you're looking for a relaxing weekend away I do highly recommend, I already want to go back.

Luxe Chapel Apartment with Roll-Top Bath

ToraRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Had a lovely stay in Barnard Castle. The apartment was amazing, fab quirky decor, great facilities such as mini dishwasher and a washing machine. Dishwasher tablets and cleaning supplies provided which was as great as you don’t always get this. Easy to park on the roads outside with no issues but was also a car park a few minutes walk away if needed. Barnard Castle itself is a quiet little town, has the castle ruins to visit, Bowes museum, Egglestone Abbey and Raby castle close by. Not much to offer in terms of restaurants/bars but we did highly rate Babul’s for curry and they also do insanely good cocktails! The meanacolada 👌🏻 We also liked a little bar called Crobar. A cute little staycation for a couple of nights away with our puppy. Only thing to note was the pigeons! There were crazy amounts of them on the roof/windowsills and surrounding roofs and they stopped us sleeping! Obviously nothing the owners can control but just worth noting. Maybe bring earplugs.

Grade II listed house with river and castle views

OdetteRating, 5 stars3 days ago
Lovely and clean house and beautiful views of Barnard Castle. Kate was brilliant with recommendations and quick to answer if I had a question. Lovely walks from the house. Would definitely stay again if we end up in Barnard Castle. My only point I wish I knew was that there is no black out curtains in the rooms so if you use to black out perhaps take an eye mask.

Charming 18th Century cottage

HayleyRating, 5 stars4 days ago
We had a lovely break at Emmanuelle's place. There was everything we needed & more for the perfect stay, the bottle of wine was a nice touch too. It is situated in a lovely peaceful area, with lots of beautiful scenic walks & plenty of things to see & do nearby. We were warmly greeted by a squirrel on the bird feeding station on arrival & took great pleasure in watching the varied species of birds feeding each day in the lovely private back garden. The pizza oven looked fab but we didn't get chance to use it on this occasion. Parking was easy enough, located opposite the property at The Fox & Hounds, a nice dog friendly pub. We would highly recommend this place & will definitely visit again in the future
