Just 6 km from Oxford, 18 mins from SH 73 and 50 mins from ChCh Airport, this cottage offers a serene retreat. Enjoy panoramic views of Mount Oxford and a brilliant night-time starscape.

Nestled on a large, private farm near the foothills, you can unwind in peace and enjoy the company of some adorable animal visitors. Relax on the verandah or by the cosy log burner, and take a stroll in the paddock to meet our friendly goats.

We look forward to welcoming you to this piece of paradise.

The space
The cottage features a cosy downstairs living and cooking area, a kitchenette complete with pots and pans, crockery and cutlery and other essential cooking implements, a small fridge and gas hobs. There is a full-size shower, and an odourless off-grid toilet.

Upstairs in the mezzanine, you'll find a super comfortable king-sized bed and plenty of storage space, accessible via a wide step ladder that is manageable for most guests.

Step through the ranch slider to a covered deck, where outdoor seating invites you to relax and take in the spectacular views while listening to the birdsong.

The off-grid cottage is equipped with solar-powered electricity for lighting and device charging, along with an additional generator for many other electrical needs.

As Oxford is a dark sky reserve, you'll be treated to incredible stargazing opportunities.

Within 10- 15 minutes drive you can reach the Oxford township and its cafes, restaurants, museum, library and supermarket.

A 5-10 minute drive brings you to the start of the Mount Oxford walking and biking trails including the Wharfedale track.

The Ashley and Waimakariri rivers are also easily accessible for fishing and water sports.

Earlier check-in may be possible by arrangement. Please get in touch to enquire for your dates.

Guest access
The whole cottage is for your exclusive use. The parking is onsite. You are welcome to explore the large farm paddock that the cottage is located in, or take a walk along the river nearby.

Other things to note
The cottage is privately positioned in a paddock, away from other buildings and has a lovely wilderness feeling. We are never far away in case you need anything!

There is very good or reasonable cellphone reception and 4G / 5G depending on which network you are with.

The off-grid cottage is equipped with solar-powered electricity for lighting and device charging, along with an additional generator for many other electrical needs.

It's accessed by some gravel roads and a farm track.

Oxford is in a dark sky reserve which means the stars are amazing but it is very dark at night!

There are no street lights in the area. It's recommended to arrive before darkness. Please be sure to follow the directions given and don't rely on Google Maps.

There is plenty of space for two adults in the cottage.
Up to 2 children from 2-10 years old can also be accommodated for no extra fee. Child sleeping arrangements are mattresses on the floor. (Let us know if you will need them).
