Star Barn is a great place to stay to explore the Heptonstall area. There are several really nice walks from the door, including over the moor to Hardcastle Crags. The village has a post office, two pubs, a shop, a cafe also selling ice creams/gelato - so pretty much ideal. The barn itself is comfortable, with everything you need. The owners live nearby and were both very helpful and a pleasure to meet.

This was my second time staying at Ben and Kate's place. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking to stay somewhere peaceful but within a few minutes walking distance into the town centre. They have the comfiest bed and leave delicious chocolates too.

Stag Cottage is not only a rare and exceptional stay, it is a living history experience. Beautifully renovated, we marveled at the original beams and other features of Elizabethan home construction, and we thoroughly enjoyed reading all the provided material about Heptonstall and the cottage. Completely captivated! It was nice, of course, to have a thoroughly modern kitchen and bath. Will was the perfect host in every way, and the village of Heptonstall is beautiful and fascinating. Our highest recommendation for this splendid stay!
