We enjoyed staying in this lovely, quiet, private apartment. It was equipped with everything we needed, including a clothes washer and drying rack. Our clothes dried hung overnight inside with no problem, but it was nice of Sigridur to offer her own dryer if we needed it, or to use her outdoor clothesline. Sigridur and Gunnar were great hosts, and we enjoyed meeting their dog Kria Sol, a very well-behaved and sweet yellow lab who enjoyed our belly rubs. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect location for the Worldloppet cross-country ski race, which was just a short drive up the road. All the other events associated with the race were right in town, and all within walking distance.

This property is THE prime property in town! Not only is the penthouse unit adorable and comfortable inside but it has two adjoining 'porches' overlooking the town center, one open air and one enclosed, to enjoy the action and activities...highly unusual. The town itself is very walkable and enjoyable. And Gunnar, the owner, is super pleasant and helpful. The property is a rare find! I believe you will be beyond thrilled to stay here. On a scale of 10, I rate it a 12! Enjoy Isafjordur!

The house had everything we needed in beautiful surroundings. Sheep were close enough to watch and enjoy their sounds. It was isolated from resources so make sure you have food and supplies you will need before getting there (there’s no grocery store in town at all).

Welcome to the Captain's House – one of the most elegant and historic houses in Þingeyr. The house has four warm bedrooms, a kitchen, a dining room and a living room where you can relax after a day's adventures. A bath with shower is in the downstairs toilet. But toilet on upper floor. It can be noted that there is a steep staircase to the upper floor where accommodation is. Whether you want to stay in a warm room or rent the entire house for a family, a group of friends, or a work trip – the Captain's House is a great option.
