Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Island Bay

Our son daughter-in-law and grandson loved the home from home experience. Great for location being near our daughter and shops in Newtown. We are keeping our fingers crossed that it will be available for our next NZ visit probably 2027. We will use it for ourselves as it was so much better than the place we stayed in. All the facilities we needed. Big enough for the family to get together and enjoy a family meal. The garden was a bonus. Just keep doing what you are doing.

This is a beautiful home, and was very warm on a cold weekend, with heaters in every room. ! It has all the charm of an older home, with all the appeal of a completely re-done, modern space. The only negative is the parking spot was a bit tricky to get into with a large SUV, but it definitely wasn’t impossible. We would stay there again for sure! Thank you for a lovely stay.

We had a great stay at Summers place, it was in a great location and fit our needs perfectly. We would definitely book again!

The flat was very cosy and homely. I must say the bed was so comfortable it was amazing I slept well. It accommodated all my needs staying there as a single traveller. The highlight was the view, as on top of the hill overlooking Owhiro Bay Beach, Red Rocks, Devil's Gate, The Mountains and towards the South Island. It was breath taking and so nice to look at every day and watch the birds fly over to and from the sea catching the wind gusts. On the 13th May 2025 Wellington put on an awesome sunset which was incredible I got some top pics as I had a bird's eye view at the house watching it. I grew up in Owhiro Bay so it brought back a lot of fond memories that I will cherish. Helen was an excellent host, kind, caring, easy to contact and she even dropped off a wheat bag for me as I had a sore back which was a fantastic help. Dealing with Helen was an ease and she is a lovely lady and I would recommended staying there for any traveller. Thanks heaps Helen I will be back again soon :)

Great location away from the CBD. Very nice, private, and comfortable place to spend a few days in Wellington. Perfect, if you're planning on spending some time at Zealandia. It was peaceful to wake up to a great view of the sunrise covering the hills and native birds flying about. We spotted Wood Pigeons, Tui, and Kaka birds from the property. Spacious place. Wish we had stayed longer.

A large house that suited the 5 of us. It was in a great location which helped with our weekends adventure. definitely would recommend this to others.

Beautiful apartment in a wonderful city. It is in a fabulous location for foodies and just in general easy to access all the sights of W. Art lovers will really appreciate the interior. Instructions to access were terrific and our host was wonderful and very responsive. Car spot is a bit tight so you will need a small car if you are renting. Definitely would stay again. Staying at Jenny's was a real treat! It's so cozy, tasteful and has everything you need 🤩 The views on the city and sea are so great and if you're lucky enough to be there on a sunny day you'll get to see the sunrise with some lovely birdsongs in the background 😍 It's private and peaceful while also just a 15 minutes walk to Cuba Street, the best of both worlds! Wonderful apartment. If you aren't from the area, the parking is really hard to navigate. Since it's street parking, there isn't always a spot nearby, so be prepared to walk uphill with your suitcase. We decided to taxi around most of the time so we could keep our spot. This was the only downside, everything else was great!

Arriving for a very cold Wellington weekend, we found our lodging to be warm and cosy. Fiona had left freshly baked Anzac biscuits to welcome us, and a still warm, home baked loaf of bread arrived later in the afternoon. With the fresh fruit, meusli, yogurt and home made jams and preserves, also provided we enjoyed a feast each morning for breakfast. The bed was super comfy made up with high quality linens and pillows. The shower was hot and had strong water pressure. Fiona was a wonderful host, we appreciated her kind gestures and easy communication. We loved the proximity to family in Aro valley and the very short walk or Uber trip to reach Wellington City. We will certainly stay here again and will highly recommend this airbnb to friends and family.

Absolutely loved staying at Janice’s place. She greeted us and we felt at home straight away! The place was so spacious with all the ammenities plus some fruit and bread for breakfast. The suburb is also very quiet and full with walks. Will definitely recommend this place.

Didn’t take any photos of the place, however the view was stunning! The house was very clean, the beds were super comfy and so were the pillows. It was a great big space! On Rainy days I did wish there was roof cover for the balcony… also for those who can’t do stairs. There was a few flights to climb! But well worth the trip. Amazing host, milk, coffee and a wine on arrival! Greta cafe right under the apartment was fair priced, delicious and great customer service! Thank you Giles & Zoe

Had a lovely stay! Such a cute wee unit for a weekend away in Wellington. The instructions sent were super clear. The roads are quite narrow and the location does confuse Uber drivers. I just ended up popping the pick up location at the bottom of the hill but on the way home mentioned there's room to turn around at the top and it worked out fine. Only two minor things worth noting. If you like a firm pillow, bring one with you. Everyone has their own preferences on pillows - they were personally too soft for me but I made it work. Just keep in mind if you're fussy like me with pillows! The wifi does get a bit spotty. Certain areas drop out but you can move around and it comes right back - just keep in mind if working from the Airbnb. Otherwise thank you so much for letting me use your space for the weekend. Would absolutely stay again!

Perfect apartment to stay at in Wellington. Everything was as per the booking description etc.

Grace’s apartment is extremely well located for a short visit to Wellington, minutes to Lambton Quay and all the transport options and shopping available there. Considering it is located in the CBD the traffic and city noise is not intrusive , even with the bedroom window open. Lovely selection of tea and coffee available, good cooking facilities should you want to self cater.

Myself and two mates stayed at this Airbnb for two nights. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This Airbnb is very cozy and relaxing. We felt we were staying in a lovely cottage. Toast, coffee, tea, and more was provided was well. Can't recommend this Airbnb enough.

Great place to stay! Would definitely recommend and use again! Clean, tidy, definitely felt like home had everything we needed! Nice quality linen, comfortable furnishings. Love that there was a full bottle of milk to make delicious coffees (supplied) in the morning. Great views and fantastic location especially if you’re wanting to hit town! Cool to be able to use the pool facilities while staying. Love the touch of kids books for bedtime. All round great stay!
