The best Airbnb I’ve stayed in—hands down. Tucked in the serene hills of Shimoda, this cozy home is a peaceful retreat just minutes from the beach by bike. From the gentle breeze that rolls through the trees to the tranquil stillness of the evenings, everything about this place invites calm. The home itself is warm, welcoming, and impeccably cared for—perfectly blending comfort with charm. The area is breathtaking: quiet roads, lush green surroundings, and a sense of timeless beauty that’s hard to put into words. The room was renovated, the whole thing was great, and the host was very welcoming.The surrounding area is very convenient for transportation, access to the station and bubble hot spring bicycle.The lack of the United States is that spiders, large and small spiders were always found during their stay, and the geckos were randomly refreshed outside the window. The combination of the two was terrifying, fearing the caution of insects.

I had a lovely stay in at Noriko’s place. The views are stunning from end to end. The house is so well designed, decorated, and organized. Everything is perfectly placed for when you need it. I was so relaxed here spending a lot of time on the porch and slept so well in the comfortable bed. Noriko is so kind and sweet. She always made sure I was comfortable and helped me with anything I needed. She made a reservation for me at Food Chant which I highly recommend you do if you want a beautifully prepared and special meal. She also drove me to the train station on my way out which was a nice way to relieve travel day stress. The beautiful beach is about 15 minutes walking, full disclosure there is a steep hill back home but worth it to stay here even if you are relying on walking. The bus stop is also right after the hill and the bus is easy to use to go into Shimoda. I adore Noriko and would absolutely love to come back and relax in this fantastic home.
