We have recently updated this cottage ---- with a new kitchen with a proper hob and oven, and also replaced all the windows and even the front door ! The Forge cottage is set on our working sheep farm, on the Durham Northumberland border. Ideal for couples, or people traveling on their own, the cottage is a great location for local attractions such as Beamish Museum, Durham, Newcastle, Kilhope lead mining museum etc., but it's also great for those looking for peace and quiet and country walks !!

From the property, you can walk to the local shops, dog friendly bars, and restaurants and discover a network of pretty walking and cycling routes for all the family. The village is an ideal place to stay in County Durham with Durham City only a 15 minute drive and Newcastle a 30 minute drive where you will discover stunning architecture, shopping centres and restaurants galore. Only 20 minutes drive will take you to the world heritage site of Durham City and 30 minutes into Newcastle, with the most welcoming of Geordie hospitality. Both cities are noted for their stunning architecture along with superb restaurants and traditional pubs. There are many local attractions for all ages within a good walk or a short drive.

This little oasis of green is in a super handy location on the edge of the greenbelt, yet near the Team Valley, Metrocentre and Newcastle. There's a bus stop directly outside, with buses into central Newcastle every 30min in the day. Watergate Forest Park is right next door, with a fantastic cafe, lake, swans & lots of other wildlife. We're only a couple of miles from the C2C cycle route, with easy access to lots of other cycle routes & walks.

Ivy Cottage is a lovely two bedroom cottage on a rural farm 20 minutes drive from historic Durham. This pretty little cottage comfortably sleeps four guests and has been converted from the farm’s old tractor barn.
