“totally perfect if you want to get away from it all”
A little piece of Heaven where tranquillity is more than just a word. Situated in the foothills of the Drakensberg, with gorgeous valley views and abundant birdlife. The perfect place to relax and unwind, or explore the well known Midlands Meander (An arts, crafts and food route) A large modern home, with the most beautiful views from every angle. Around 30km from the town of Howick, Kwa-Zulu Natal.
“The best accommodation I have stayed in, period. The views , the facilities, the quality of the furnishings, are all there. Just outside of Howick too, so literally in the Centre of the happenings of the Midlands Meander. So enjoyed coming home from a busy touristy day to peace and quiet and the most magnificent gardens overlooking the valley and its farmlands. Generously equipped too, with 3 en-suite bedrooms and a stand alone fourth. The main bedroom is of a size that will literally take your breath away. Unbelievably good value too.”
Ideal for a weekend getaway, the farm and cabins of Dargle Forest Lodge are set overlooking the Dargle Valley, Inhlosane Mountain and natural forest. Great for hiking, cycling, mountain biking, bird watching and star gazing, while also having all that the Midlands Meander has to offer just a short, scenic drive away.
“Remote, romantic, and rustic! Dargle Farm is the place to head in the Midlands if you are looking to truly get away from it all. The self-catering cabin (#1) was very clean with some nice design touches, adequately stocked kitchen, and good hot showers. We were there in winter and the cabin was a bit drafty, but with heating panels and extra blankets we had no problem staying warm. Cozy but large enough to comfortably house 2 parents and 2 teens for 3 nights (note there are 2 bedrooms but not much acoustical privacy). Our kids loved the honor system spaza (24-hour store with some snacks and basics, but stop at a grocery store for food because you might not want to leave once you arrive-we didn’t). We loved the views, the stars, the quiet. Bridgette and her family have transformed the land into a beautiful, rustic farm that feels like a family summer camp-there are amenities for kids (zip line, playground, foos ball table), but couples and solo travelers will enjoy the tranquility and feel at home. Our Toyota Corolla made it on the dirt roads leading in, but a higher clearance vehicle would have made it faster. Clear communications with the host, and we really appreciated the offer to use their personal computer when we were having device issues. Thank you for a lovely stay!”
