The beach is located in a place that was formerly used as a pier by the rabelo boats that transported the wine barrels between the farms and the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia. It is 40 km from Porto. More recently, a mural was painted by the artist @mrdheu of the well-known CARMEN MIRANDA, born in Várzea de Ovelha e Aliviada, Marco de Canaveses, Maria do Carmo Miranda da Cunha.
