House holiday rentals in McDowell County

The house had everything we needed in the kitchen and living areas. The boat dock was very well equipped with kayaks and easy to dock a rental boat. We had easy access to the lake. It has a wonderful, large dining table. We enjoyed the screened porch! The pool pavilion next store was lovely and very convenient. Jake was a very responsive host through the whole process. The information about things to do was very complete and helpful.

Overall, the stay at Blind place was great! House was clean, location was great, and Blin was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The hike down to the water is challenging and accurately portrayed in the listing. Be prepared for a steep ascent when you’re done on the water.

Had the pleasure to rent this property for a family extended weekend. The house could not have been more perfect. Great layout, well equipped kitchen, very clean and well appointed. There was easy access to the lake with a wonderful two story dock which provided cover for extended stays down at the water. Very peaceful and quiet location on the lake. A gem.

We had a wonderful ladies weekend here. The house was beautiful and the the surroundings were so peaceful. We enjoyed sitting at the dock and kayaking. The house was spotless and had everything we needed for the weekend. We would love to come back again in the future.

This was our first time to Lake James and we are definitely coming back! The house was absolutely beautiful and perfect for our needs. It was very clean and had everything in great supply. Like others have written, the house is bigger than the pics let on. Susan was proactive with making sure we had the address, codes, etc before we arrived and very responsive if we had a question. All in all, it was a great time with the family!

Nice, last minute weekend getaway for us! The house is very spacious and clean. The pool was very relaxing and the scenic view was amazing. Great find … We loved it! The place was very comfortable and cozy. It’s literally right across from the pool which we loved! There were a few things that were missing but Kristina and her husband were immediately responsive and showed up within an hour to provide us with the missing things! We would definitely go back in a heartbeat!! Recommend highly!

We had a great weekend stay at the cottage. It is an adorable little old house nestled in the mountains. The house was very clean and looked just like the pictures. There were a lot of little thoughtful touches. We all loved the kitchen, especially.

Great country location, at the end of a road. Beautiful mountain views. There were 5 of us, and the place had six beds. The kitchen was fully stocked. We had several campfires. There is a second outdoor kitchen area, under a large outdoor cover. Beautiful front porch with two rocking chairs. We had our morning coffees there every day of our five night stay!! Five stars all the way!!

We traveled from Wisconsin for a music festival that was going on the 4th of July weekend. After a long drive, Gigi's place was just what we needed. It's very relaxing and peaceful and we enjoyed every minute of it. If you're looking for privacy and being surrounded by the mountains, this is the place for you. There's plenty to do within a 15-20min drive. The house itself has everything you could possibly need. We definitely recommend Gigi's if you're planning to go to Black Mountain!

This home is beautifully designed. From the floor plan to the decor- it's such a clean relaxing place. The location is peaceful and private with a view of the small vineyard which reminded us of Italy. The beds were comfortable and the linens are great quality! The closets had plenty of towels with extra pillows and blankets. The kitchen was stocked with anything needed to cook along with some items to use in the pantry. Courtney and Reese are amazing hosts. They provided us all information we needed to access and enjoy the home. Any questions we had were answered with a quick replies. Truly a pleasant experience and would love to stay here again.

We had a really nice stay here! The deck is awesome for taking in some great mountain air, kitchen was great and had everything we needed. The price point was perfect, too!

Serenity Summit is a mountain gem! The 4 bedrooms are spaced out across the house and there are three living spaces to relax in. Open kitchen with everything we needed. Hosts were so kind and responsive to our questions and needs. There was plenty of parking space for our family coming together for our daughter’s wedding. The home is located in a gorgeous gated community with incredible views of the mountains. But…..If your husband’s dress shirt, as Father of the Bride, wasn’t packed and you realize the night before at 9:40pm…..FYI the closest Walmart is 37 minutes away and thankfully doesn’t close until 11:00. We definitely plan to come back in warmer weather to enjoy the incredible outdoor living areas at the house and the lake in the neighborhood. Thank you for your hospitality Victoria!

Beautiful, private, and peaceful location. The home was creatively decorated and stocked with everything you could possibly need. The fire pit and supplies worked very well and made for many peaceful moments. The home and site were as shown and described and the house did feel like home. Would definitely recommend to all and stay again. Kira was amazing; always responded in a timely manner, provided many local spots to eat and play, and more importantly always friendly.

I don’t generally leave a property without any constructive criticism, but this stay was perfect. Beautiful accommodation. Perfectly peaceful cove. Clear, professional level communication. Highly, high recommended!!

What a delightful retreat! There were several times coming up the road, however, I thought I had missed a turn. Directions should say, keep going, then go some more, and then go even further. But once found and inside, it was heavenly. Comfortable furnishings. And the book explaining how the cabin was renovated was entertaining and educational. It was a terrific way to introduce Hallie & Mark. I got so much done on my book when I wasn’t staring at hummingbirds, listening to owls, or looking for shooting stars. And if there had been a chaise lounge on that balcony, I doubt I’d have gotten anything done! (Hint, hint.) thank you so much for a delightful stay!

I absolutely loved this place! There was a race in old Fort which is what brought me here and I’m so glad I found the spot! I definitely hope to return and will definitely stay at this beautiful place again.

Stayed during Helene - hosts were gracious and patient. This place was an excellent place to hunker down in a hurricane! Beautifully decorated and had everything we needed!

The house was beautiful and very well appointed. I especially liked the kitchen and every gadget I needed was there. It was a short stay and definitely will consider going back there if in that area again.

Host was very responsive. Not anything that is their fault and they gave good directions but it’s a little confusing just due to the hurricane destroying access to get to the property. Otherwise it was a quiet neighborhood a great location. And they gave awesome recommendations for local things to do. We came for the hiking but did so many things locally. I would book again for sure!

Such a great house! We loved it. The place was extremely clean upon arrival. It was well stocked with everything we needed for the weekend and not at all cluttered. Great location. We hiked Grandfather mountain, Shortoff mountain, and Hawksbill. All great hikes and easy to get to. We also spent an afternoon kayaking on Lake James. It was very peaceful with large, calm coves. Great place to stay and I hope to be back.
