Holiday rentals with a kayak in McGaheysville

What a wonderful house, host, and location! We went with another family, with three “kids” ranging from 8 to 18. It was a relaxing, and also vibrant weekend. The house was very comfortable, and there was lots to do for the younger group, who spent time in the game room and walked to the nearby pool. We found the house to be so relaxing; we enjoyed the sauna and fire pit. The neighborhood, while it doesn’t have sidewalks, is very quiet and easy to explore. There were many restaurants nearby, and we hope to come back to see the other sites like the caverns and garden maze, etc. The Shenandoah Valley is stunning. We all highly recommend Flower on the Mountain, and look forward to hopefully visiting for a longer time next year.

If you’re looking to replenish your soul, enjoy Mother Nature and for a kid friendly place, this cabin is for you! My large family stayed two nights and were so impressed by its views, size and generous amount of canoes/tubing/games/cookware/towels. Neat as a pin too. My fav place in the house? The peaceful covered front porch with scenic views. Loved the fire pit as well. The host, Hap, provided ample wood to burn. We would come here again in a heartbeat!

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home. This house had every amenity you could imagine. Very clean, private, easy access, comfortable with luxurious bedding, great showers, arcade games, and a great hot tub!

Wonderful weekend stay right on the river. Easy access to the hazel river, Shenandoah national park, as well as some short trails right on the property. Spectacular views from every window and multiple decks. It’s easy to sit and read a book while listening to the peaceful sounds. This property is beautiful with everything you need to feel right at home. It felt more like a home than a rental property. It was well decorated and somewhere you actually want to spend time vs drop your stuff and head out. We enjoyed our stay, and plan to return.

Great riverfront cabin! Waterfront was absolutely what I was looking for, with a good hot tub view. Great host and the house has all the amenities you need. Close to town and easy road access. Only down side was not having full privacy due to the house next door being occupied. Other than that it was amazing! 10/10 spot!

This place was perfect ! Everything you could possibly need was available to us . The hot tub and the fire pits were amazing. The view was incredible. There was so much to do very close to the house! Potato chip tasting , wineries , cave tour, and a really cool parade float museum! We also truly enjoyed the space , lots of room to relax and read a book, play ball outside , fish in the river… great place , highly recommend!

Beautiful and charming home! The setting is peaceful and bucolic, from the creek in the back to the cows & horses across the road. My family was very comfortable there and had a great time. It was easy to get to JMU for graduation!

We enjoyed a relaxing weekend on the water at Gary's home. Excellent spot for kayaking, and the provided kayaks were in great shape for it. The fire pit was a big hit as well. Would absolutely rent this place again.

The holly cottage was exactly as the listing described. It was easy to find and close to crozet. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

This place was amazing and had fantastic views! We had such a great stay, the set up is perfect to have fun as well as relax!

We had an amazing time at Keith's place. The deck and docks are awesome spaces to hang out, and we really enjoyed spending time on the water with the paddle boards and canoe. The cottage has everything you need with plenty of spaces to gather, and is even nicer than the pictures. Keith is a great host and we hope to stay again later this summer.

Wow I don’t know where to start. We first chose this beautiful place for two weeks and couldn’t help but extend another weeks stay. This home is positioned perfectly away from others with the river easily accessible behind the property. My partner and I found so many nearby trails to explore including an abundance of nearby farms to see the local animals. The Mountain View’s surrounding the area were breathe taking! About a mile from the property were some very tasty restaurants. We are from Jersey and Sal’s Italian made us feel right at home. There were stores under 15 minutes away allowing hassle free shopping while escaping back to the secluded cabin. Kinga was beyond helpful during our stay. She responds within a reasonable time and was very attentive. We will absolutely return to this getaway cabin again. You will get the best of every world at this beautiful home.🩷

Great getaway for our family of 4! Our 5 and 2 year old enjoyed making s'mores by the fire pit, canoeing for the first time and walking the trails. It was amazing to wake up and have coffee on the deck and the mountain view from the top of the hill was gorgeous! I wish we would've had more time to explore the town but we had a great trip and would love to come back again!

We absolutely loved our stay! We were here for our elopement in Shenandoah National Park and this location was perfect. The AirBnb was clean, it had beautiful surroundings, and all of the amenities were great!! Colton gave us awesome local recommendations as well. We will definitely be back!

Our stay was great. The cabin was very clean, comfortable and felt like home. Host was very responsive and checked to see if we needed anything and gave recommendations of things to do. Will definitely try to stay again.

We had a wonderful stay! The property is spacious, with lots to explore. It is quiet, private, and feels like a real getaway. The staff were attentive, generous and very communicative. We explored the property with our two dogs, who also had a great time. The cottage had plenty of space, was clean, had great hot water, comfy beds, solid heating, and everything else we could have wanted. We look forward to coming back!

We had a truly wonderful weekend getaway at this beautiful rustic cabin with our two children and our French bulldog. From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. The cabin was cozy, clean, and thoughtfully designed everything you’d want for a peaceful retreat in nature. The amenities were fantastic, and having access to a canoe added such a special touch to our stay. Our two young sons had an absolute blast so much so that they didn’t want to leave! Our 11-year-old even asked if we could return for his birthday because he had such a great time. The hosts were incredibly responsive and kind, which made everything seamless from check-in to check-out. We can’t thank them enough for such a memorable stay. We will absolutely be back and look forward to staying at one of their properties again soon!

This is a great lodge for families and large groups. The pictures are a perfect representation of the cabin, its amenities and surroundings. It was clean and well equipped with great WiFi, games for the kids, and working TVs/cable. The hot tub was functional and clean. Inside, the beds were comfortable, linens and towels were good quality and clean, and the kitchen was well stocked with supplies.

Stepping Stone was the perfect spot for a quiet getaway! The cabin was very clean and instructions to get in were easy. The kitchen was stocked with all the essentials for cooking, and the beds were comfy! The best part is waking up and enjoying a cup of coffee by the river and ending the evening with a fire. The hot tub was clean and felt great after our hike. I would definitely come back and/recommend Angela’s place to friends and family!

I’ve stayed in this place more than once and I’ll do it again every time i have a chance! This Cabin is really beautiful from top to bottom! I personally enjoy cooking and this kitchen was such a great choice! They have it all! Also, if you’re looking for a place to relax and be at peace, this is your go to Airbnb! I believe this is one of the best places to stay in the area! We ended up extending our stay by another week. The neighborhood is safe and peaceful, and the neighbors are welcoming. The cabin itself is very very clean, beds, towels, and every corner felt spotless. The surrounding nature is beautiful and calming, and spotting deer nearby added such a cheerful touch for us as nature lovers! Have to say the cabin is more lovely than photos! We work remotely, so we were initially concerned about the internet, but it was completely reliable throughout our stay. The cabin feels like a private, cozy retreat, super comfortable and beautifully designed. There was even a storm during our stay, and while there was a short power outage, the roads were cleared quickly and power was restored in no time! Mark’s a fantastic host, very responsive and helpful with any questions we had. His clear instructions made everything easy. We’d absolutely come back if we’re back in the area!

We stayed for a weekend at cabin and had a wonderful time. Very quiet and private setting at end of road and on top of a mountain. Felt right at home with amenities and everything you need not to cook and relax. One of our best home renting experiences.

Lovely cabin with all mod cons in a beautiful scenic setting in the Shenandoah valley, right on the river. We only needed the two double bedrooms so we didn’t make use of the twin loft room but we peeked and it was just as lovely as the rest of the cabin. We enjoyed and made use of the gas bbq & the fire pit every night but one, because being right on the river surrounded by the woods was just so peaceful and pretty. Highly recommend Shenandoah River Outfitters only a couple of miles up the road where we taken care of by Lisa & Nick for a 3-hr river kayaking trip - and we loved the Chop House in nearby Luray for a special dinner where Missy was our host. Great trip made possible by our lovely cabin stay. Thank you!

My wife and I decided to do a four day weekend trip without the kiddos and wanted to try a new place that was beautiful and peaceful. Joylynn's place was exactly what we wanted. We got to unwind and just enjoy each other's company, soak in the hot tub, go exploring in the area, and I even got some fishing in at Lake Laura. We'd definitely want to come back again.
