Beach house holiday rentals in Middle River

This is an easy 5 star place - from quality of the house, to the cleanliness, to the responsiveness of the host. House location is a little far from attractions but provides the serenity and beauty of kangaroo island. We had a little misfortune of losing electricity and water 2 nights in a row. It was painful but Ella was very responsive and solved the issue for us quickly. I trust that she is doing everything she can to fix it so i highly recommend this place.

Perfect spot. Beautiful beach. Fig Tree restaurant right next door. Lovely and peaceful. Hosts had sent very detailed instructions on how to get there. Great to communicate with. House had everything that one would need. Will definitely be back.

Ellen’s place is a retro 60’s beach vibe. Loved it!! In walking distance to the cafes, pubs, supermarket & ferry terminal. Also right next door to the fabulous ‘KI Sculpture Trail’ AND across the road from Penneshaw Beach. We also met Mick (Ellen’s husband) lovely guy! It was a Perfect Location!!

Janette and Herb run a fantastic Airbnb. We stayed for 5 nights and found the place extremely comfortable and well provisioned with everything you could possibly need. Herb is a great host and gave us some local tips, and helped us out when we needed something. I strongly recommend this if you’re looking for accommodation in the area.

The most wonderful home! After 6 months of travel, this was the nicest place to stay and relax. Gorgeous view of emu bay. Within minutes we were driving on the beach. The outdoor shower came in handy! So relaxed and luxurious. Great kitchen including kids cutlery and plates which we much appreciated traveling with a 1yo and 3yo. The host was very helpful in providing a high chair. Also the laundry room was well equipped. All felt new and clean. Very nice outdoor area with good bbq. Watching the sunrise and sunset from this property was a treat.

We absolutely loved our stay! It was incredibly peaceful and relaxing. Great sunrises and sunsets with a very short walk to the beach. Thank you for having us!

Kirsty and Chris couldn’t be more hospitable. As more mature guests we appreciated Kirsty showing us the best way to access the path and steps down to the private beach. It was worth it to experience the sun setting and watch the resident pelican fishing in the surf. A highlight was the Kangaroos coming up to the terrace every evening to take the food left out. The property is first class. The pool area and the al fresco dining area are welcoming even though it was a little too cool to swim. The property is remote from shops etc but we stocked up beforehand and thus had no issues. We would certainly recommend Hawks Nest.

Absolutely beautiful location and home! We saw so much wildlife from the back porch. Tim was a great host, very communicative and accommodating. We would have stayed longer if we could!

Great place to stay in Vivonne Bay. Very near the little general store for good coffee, bites to eat, and very basic groceries. Also, very nicely located to many of the interesting areas to visit (ie, Flinders Chase Park and its wonders, the Raptor domain that we, somewhat unexpectedly, truly enjoyed, stokes bay on the north side, etc). Ian’s house was very clean, very comfortable and with all we could wish for to cook. It is a couple of streets away from the beach. All kind of bird life around to enjoy and, of course, our newly made wallaby friends! Would stay there again anytime.

Our 3 kids loved playing in the magnificent tree so much that they wish we could come back every vacation. Us parents had so much joy looking at the beautiful lagoon and trees surrounded by kangaroos living in peace. The atmosphere is very special and serene.

A wonderful 6 nights at Emu Bay in Marine Cottage. For us the location was very handy to get round by car to all the main attractions to be seen on Kangaroo Island. Whilst the cottage is not new or modern, it was very clean and functional. Peter's communication and offering of assistance was first class. The closeness to local wildlife, ie, Penguins (a colony is just over the road), we also had a koala walk through the front yard, and dolphins in the bay, all contributed to a great stay. The outlook is extraordinary, with the verandah facing the bay. All in all wonderful.

This house was such a lovely part of our holiday. We had a baby with us so spent quite a lot of time at the house and it was well equipped with everything we needed. The spa and pool table provided constant entertainment and the kitchen equipment was well stocked with everything we needed to make meals from home. Marnie was lovely to communicate with and was very accommodating for us and the baby. The beach was a close walk and was absolutely pristine! We would definitely come back here for a holiday!

Great place to stay, clean, voluminous and fully equiped. Perfect area in front of the beach. An extra bonus for the mattresses and the electric heated toppers.

We stayed as two couples and a child and had a fantastic time. The house is cosy, beautifully laid out, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We especially appreciated the thoughtful touches throughout and the quality of the amenities. The beds were very comfortable, and we all slept well. The location is perfect – just at the entrance to Innes National Park and a short walk to the beach. We also walked to the local pub one evening (about 30 minutes), which was a really nice experience. One of the highlights was the view from the balcony – absolutely stunning and such a peaceful spot to unwind. Highly recommend this place if you’re heading to Marion Bay!

Bretts Rest was a good location, close enough to go shopping & have dinner at Kingscote & easy to get to main roads for sightseeing. Pictures are exactly as shown .. place is so peaceful & quiet. Loved the Bluetooth for music & combustion heater kept the chill out the air

We had an amazing time. the place is perfect for get aways from city and crowded places.

Fantastic communication. Wildlife visitors each night. Nice and secluded surrounded by just enough bush land but at the same time short walk to the beach to enjoy the sunset. We will be back Thanks Christine

My Island Home is a wonderful hideaway for large friend or family groups. Plenty of space for the kids to stretch their legs after a long drive, wonderful amenities for the whole family, the house is very clean and tidy, homely fashion and we would definitely stay here again. Whilst the house is accurately described in the ad, it is hard to grasp the actual spaciousness on offer, with 11 people holidaying, not once did we feel cramped. The back verandah with BBQ and large dining space was a hit and an easy way to eat in such a large group. And let’s not forget the local visitors, lovely family of Roos to greet you each morning on the front lawn. Thank you Tamara for your kindness, communication and allowing us to enjoy the wonders of your home.

Consider us officially in love with Kangaroo Island, truly a beautiful and unspoiled part of Australia, that was a privilege to see. Kingscote was the perfect base, and Little Koboda had everything you could want and more. Jess communicated well, and her advice was spot on.... absolutely no regrets about this booking, can recommend KI and Little Koboda with confidence. 😊😊😺

Plenty of space in this house - large bedrooms and tv in main room. Missed not having electric blankets or a dishwasher but the house stay warm enough with the heater in the ceiling of the main room. Interesting how both the main bathroom and ensuite were at the same end of the house. A secure backyard if we had taken our dogs with us. No beach view but lovely to see/hear a variety of birds.

It was really a beautiful and peacefull place to stay. Place was clean and as described. Highly recommend it. Will surely come back. I forgot my airpods but host was really nice and friendly they posted back my airpods. So nice of them. Rooms very big and kitchen is beauty. You can cook your fav dish as well. 😄 Will come back for sure 🥰

Sue $ Alex place Catcus in Emu Bay. Was absolutely perfect for our stay. My mum has mobility issues but the place was perfect for her. It’s spacious, big beautifully Presented. We cooked in every night and it was perfect. Loved the extra treats also
