The Oude Smederij is located in an agricultural area on the outskirts of the village of Arum (on the Elfsteden route) and is centrally located between Harlingen (on the Wadden Sea with ferry services to Vlieland and Terschelling), Franeker (Planetarium and Frisian Museum), Bolsward (Broerekerk) and Makkum, located on the IJsselmeer with boulevard and beach.

Sleeping here will be peaceful. The cottage is beautifully decorated with all sorts of wooden elements and fully equipped. You'll truly unwind here and fully enjoy the island. There's a bakery around the corner for delicious rolls, and the supermarket is about a 5-minute bike ride away.

For those who enjoy being surrounded by nature, this peaceful chalet is the ideal place to relax. The chalet is very private and set in an orchard of just over a third of a hectare. (A pûnsmiet is an old Friesian word for a third of a hectare). It is a perfect place for those who want to indulge their creativity in writing or drawing. The beautiful views towards the dyke and into the orchard are unique in this Friesian landscape, where the sunsets are spectacular and ever changing.

Whether spending time in the sun or watching the numerous surfers, sailing boats or water birds. Everyone really gets their money's worth here. Rural location on the Elfsteden route, on the edge of the Leeuwarder forest we rent out our "6 person coach house". The former coach house we have converted into a beautiful apartment and is next to our farm with private terrace on the south.
