Appledore - Cabin in the Valley

This unique place has a style all its own. With expansive views across the valley Appledore is a picture of the Huon. A luxurious cabin handmade by local craftsman from the ground up. The property is on 25 acres of land with a mixture of lush Huon Valley pasture and meandering forest through which a small creek flows into the Huon River. Appledore is a working farm you can explore at your leisure. Pull an apple from the tree and feed the cows if you wish or cuddle a lamb (if you can catch one)

Recently built, our self-contained house in Fitzgerald is modern and family-friendly. It is 5 minutes from the Tyenna river and a magic spot for fishing and watching Platypus. We are also less than 5 minutes from the Maydena Mountain Bike Park. Also MT Field and National Park are a 10 minute drive. You can stay in and prepare meals or have the option of meals at the Mountain Bike Park or the National Park Hotel. As well, the visitors center at MT Field has a stylish and comprehensive cafe.

It’s private but central to everything the Valley has to offer, and an easy drive to Hobart and other Southern Tasmania destinations. It’s the perfect luxurious base to explore the south-west.

Markets every week in the valley, including the Cygnet market 1st & 3rd Sunday of the mth, Willie Smith's Artisan & Farmers Market every Saturday, 10-1.

The garden features English trees planted in colonial settlement days circa 1807 to 1850. Excellent shopping opportunities within 5 kilometres; 45 minutes to Hobart: 1hour to airport; 20 minutes to Mount Field National Park. Post House Cottage - 10 Minutes to Mount Field

Accommodation located within 10 minutes drive to the spectacular MOUNT FIELD NATIONAL PARK. Cottage was built in the early 1900's in the picturesque Derwent Valley. The cottage is set on 13 acres and is private with your own fully fenced yard. We give you your privacy but if you need us, we are close by to assist. The cottage makes a welcoming break between Hobart and Strahan. Cottage caters to children over 12 years of age only.
