This is a single-story guest house located at the foot of the historic site "Kegatake". In a warm space made of pure wood, you can relax and enjoy the feeling of living in the countryside. The basic accommodation is room only, but meals can also be prepared for a separate fee. (Depending on the timing, it may be difficult to provide. Please understand.) Please consult with us in advance if you need it. From the summit of the "Shigadake Lift", a 2-minute walk from the inn, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the two lakes, Lake Biwa and Lake Yogo. 5 minutes by car from JR Kinomoto Station and Kinomoto Interchange. You can also enjoy a stroll along the Hokoku Kaido, where you can find Tomita Brewery, famous for "Nanayari", Sanji Brewery, famous for "Kuwa Sake", and Tsuruya Pan, famous for "Salad Pan". The surrounding area is dotted with historic sites such as the village of Kuroda Kanbei, the cave where Ishida Mitsunari hid, and the Kotani Castle Ruins, the castle of Asai Nagamasa. The Kannon pilgrimage is also popular, starting with the national treasure of the Eleven-faced Kannon at Wanganji Temple, and visiting the Kannon enshrined in each village. We renovated a 150-year-old thatched-roof house in the Higashikousono area of Yonehara City, reusing the pillars and beams as they were, and focusing on the underfloor, heating and cooling, and water circulation. It is equipped to suit modern lifestyles while feeling the good old traditional construction methods. The room has 2 single beds and futons for 6 people, so it can be used by groups such as families and friends. Enjoy it as a base for experiences such as hiking, playing in the river, and skiing, and as a relaxing place surrounded by lots of nature.

Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts.
