“Small but lovely, perfectly adequate for a couple. Very comfortable, out of town, quiet with fantastic views, would certainly stay there again. Jason was very helpful and even with very short notice everything was very smooth”
Fully self contained 2 bdrm cottage on 125 acre lifestyle farm. (Tariff is for 2 people). We have a small herd of Scottish Highland cattle, with the bulk of the land in native bush, with bush walks. Less than 1 km from the Pou Herenga Tai cycle way, and about 30 mins drive from both Kaikohe & Kerikeri. With a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower over bath (great for kids), dining room/lounge - it is comfortable, warm and homely. We lived here till we built our new house (see photos).
“If you are looking for some peace & quite and a dose of “digital detox” - this is it. Lindy’s place is remote, beautiful, not wired or connected & it got me doing 2 things that I had not done in quite a while: read a book & look up at the night sky & do some star gazing. There are plenty of things to do around Lindy’s place, if R&R is not the only thing that one is looking for, but keep in mind that most activities are a 30 - 60 mins drive away. Also, the terrain is best handled by a 4WD SUV or a Ute (not that sedans wont be able to handle it, but...). Also, its best to stock up some basic groceries prior to arrival. My 13 year old daughter had a jolly good time playing with the farm dogs & rubbing down the the Scottish Highland cattle :-) Iian the “big fella” is an absolute gentle giant. Rick & Lindy were perfect hosts.... like an extended family. They were super hospitable, warm & genuinely friendly. All in all : a 5 star stay & experience....”

“Judith is a wonderful host! My friend and I stayed for four nights at the Old Packhouse B&B as part of a road trip of the Far Northland. The private upstairs accomodation was perfect for two friends with a bedroom each. The living area is comfortable and well equipped to make a meal when needed. Judith provided plenty of clean towels, took our dishes to the dishwasher downstairs and offered to wash clothes for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and appreciated Judith’s thoughtful hospitality. Each morning she prepared a very nice breakfast of our choice. Judith was very knowledgeable about the Northland and gave us excellent suggestions for restaurants and places we should see during our visit. We enjoyed the tour of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds on one day; and another day Judith recommended a lovely lunch with a beautiful view overlooking the Bay of Islands at Omata Estate near Okiato, then a visit to picturesque Russell. Judith’s home is in a very pleasant rural setting only a short drive into Kerikeri. Close by Judith’s are places of natural beauty and history. We visited the historic Stone Store and the Mission Station which is the oldest building in New Zealand. There is a nice cafe beside the Mission Station. We also had an excellent dinner at the beautiful Plough & Feather pub next to the Stone Store. Well worth a visit. I would recommend The Old Packhouse as a lovely place to stay.”
