Monthly Rentals in Ōkārito

Kevin and Heather's place was homely, spacious, well equipped and very clean, with lovely bedding. It was perfect for all our needs. Heather was very welcoming , warm and accomodating. Situated in the mountains it was a very good position to access Franz Josef, Okarito and the West coast. We highly recommend this airbnb and would love to stay again.

Kōtuku Cottage was a gorgeous little place to stay. Ōkārito is a beautiful peaceful little hamlet, only 25mins from Franz Josef, it is like stepping back into holidays I had decades ago in simple seaside locations, except with really good wifi 😅 No shops so get that done before you get here. Full kitchen & washing machine ✔️ Judith’s house has a great style and is really comfortable, the heater is effective and upstairs is warm, the mattress and pillows really comfortable. A short stroll to the beach for sunset, a house up the street sells a repellant for sand flies if needed. We would love to spend longer here doing nothing. Highly recommended, thanks Judith!

Gibbs’ guesthouse is absolute perfection. From the incredible vistas, to the outdoor bath (!!), fireplace, and sumptuous linens, it is a gem and one we will long remember. We had the pleasure of staying here for three nights in mid-June. We were lucky for incredible weather for the most (morning frosts, crisp, sunny days, and cosy, clear nights against a backdrop of incredible stars); using that to our advantage, we flew up to the glacier for a morning on the ice, and used the guesthouse as a fabulous base for other hikes around the area. For one of the days, we were cosy inside with the fire burning and playing many of the games in the cupboards. Perfect relaxation! The guesthouse is appointed beautifully, and Sarah (our host) very responsive and warm in her communication. It’s very easy to find, and just far enough out of town to be very quiet and relaxing. Do yourselves a favour, and book a stay here. You’ll not regret it!

Lovely stay in a secluded farm setting close to Franz Josef Glacier. The house had plenty of thoughtful personal touches and was surrounded by beautiful scenery — very peaceful and enjoyable. It did feel a bit isolated at times, and the power outage around 11pm for about an hour was a bit unsettling. But overall, it was a unique and memorable experience, and we really enjoyed our time there.
