Me and my friends loved this BNB!! The hot tub was amazing and the pool was an awesome addition. Instructions were clear and even called to walk me through everything. Plenty of places to sleep and loads of places to go!

The house was perfect for us. Very clean and organized. Great host always responded in a timely manner. Was only about a 30 to 40 minute drive to Acadia National Park & Bar harbor, depending on traffic it could take longer. If we ever make it back to Maine I would definitely stay at the Higgins Retreat again. Thanks again Richard & Tina.

this was the 3rd time our family has stayed,again we had a fantastic time! We chose to return due to the great space, a fabulous indoor pool, great kitchen and an amazing view. Great attention to details, comfortable for large families or groups and peaceful for just 2.

We felt like at home. The house is located in a private property with swimming pool and tennis courts. It’s very clean and very peaceful. Just a clarification about the description : there’s no bathroom in the basement. Then if you come with elderly people or very young kids, it could be annoying. If you like cooking, the kitchen is very well equipped. We´ll keep a very good memory of our stay in Ducktrap Retreat during the colorful foliage season.

Booked this place for our anniversary to get away from the city for a weekend.. we found exactly what we were looking for! The hot tub was wonderful, the house was clean and cute, and we had everything we could have needed! Estelle was very responsive and gave clear instructions for everything. Would recommend this place for a quiet getaway or a small group trip in the summer!

My return visit to the Boathouse was even lovelier than I hoped it would be. The location can't be matched by anything else I've seen. I enjoyed a September visit with my dog and was lucky to have pristine weather. I lived a very simple and healthy outdoors life and came home the better for it. The Boathouse is true to its description: it is simple and rustic and uncomplicated but well-equipped, and is perfect for one-and-dog, or for two people. A little coming-and-going from the neighboring houses meant that I didn't feel isolated. Margaret is truly an exceptional and friendly host who communicates promptly and clearly. I almost hesitate to share "my" Boathouse location with too many of my back-home friends because it feels so intimate and special. I already want to be back there. I offer my deep thanks to Margaret and to the place that I could - briefly - call home.

I recently stayed with my family at this incredible Airbnb that exceeded all my expectations. This property offered a hot tub, a pool table, and a level of privacy and tranquility that made for a truly relaxing getaway. One of the highlights of our stay was being able to watch the northern lights from the hot tub – it was absolutely magical. We spent a week in Acadia, and the location was perfect, just 15-20 minutes from Bar Harbor or the nearest town. The hosts were very responsive, and the place was fantastic for families, being both kid and pet friendly. It was a week filled with unforgettable moments, and I can't recommend this place enough!

The minute we walked in we felt at home! Sonya was super responsive and friendly, we got right in with no problem. The location was easy to find, and despite having houses nearby it felt very private. Sonya has everything you can think of. The cabin was clean and warm. Thank you so much, Sonya. We would absolutely stay again !

This place surpassed our expectations. Waking up every morning to enjoy a coffee on the dock was so peaceful. Everything was very clean and the living room was such a comfy atmosphere. Our German shepherd loved the place too! Thank you so much Steve for making your place dog friendly! It felt like we were coming "home" after every long hiking day at Acadia. We'll definitely return!

The place is beautiful, relaxing and peaceful. We were able to bring our Gracey Girl who had an amazing time with all of the smells in the secluded location. We were able to explore areas in town and Bar Harbor. Yes, it was a 45 minute ride to Bar Harbor but it didn't feel like it and to be able to come back to the beautiful home in the peace and quite was amazing. I was paranoid about the electricity, being off the grid, but there were no issues even though we had a couple of cloudy days. The wifi worked well too, both streaming TV and for the little bit of work I did while there.

Such a unique place to stay! Lots of charm and beautiful views. Would love to stay here again on our next trip to Maine.

What a beautiful hidden gem this lake house is! Nestled into the Maine forest on the edge of the peaceful lake, it was a perfect spot for a relaxed reunion for two families. As we have small children, I appreciated that the water isn't too close to the house but still accessible via stairs. Travis and Laura were excellent hosts and had the house stocked with everything we could need for a wonderful stay!

First of all the Wonky Donkey is a hilarious name The host was extremely helpful right away by giving good detail on how to find the place, allowing early checkin (saved us as we were able to nap after redeyes, before my brother's graduation), and giving clear info on how to enter We loved seeing the animals outside, and my family absolutely loved how spacious and clean the inside of the home was. The heaters came in clutch for this cold weather we're not used to, and we appreciated getting to use the kitchen and relax in the big living room area Finally, not having to follow a list of demands by the host is awesome in this day and age of Airbnb. We got to leave without worrying about how to do the laundry, where to throw trash away, washing dishes, etc We highly recommend this place if you need to stay in the area!

Sadie's home was picture perfect!! What a beautiful location on Toddy Pond....so peaceful and pretty. Sadie was great to work with...very responsive and flexible. She really made us feel right at home. Everything worked out great and as expected. We would absolutely reach out to Sadie again should we visit Maine in the future....which we sure hope we will!!

Really cool little house in a great location for exploring Acadia NP/Blue Hill/Deer Isle region. The house is small, but it’s set up to really use the space wisely. It’s really nicely decorated also. Had everything we needed. Union River Bay is just down the road where you can watch the seals frolicking. Had a great stay! Ice cream store is only a 2 minute walk. Bonus!!

Beautiful house with everything that you need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was large, with top appliances and had everything you would need to cook. The host was proactive with his communication and gave us all the instructions that we needed ahead of time. There wasn't a single thing that we needed that was not provided at the house. We had an incredible stay at the Blue Hill Bay house! Nestled in a peaceful wooded setting, the home feels wonderfully secluded, yet inviting. The expansive windows, especially from the top floor loft, make you feel like you’re living in a treehouse. We loved spending evenings around the fire pit, which is surrounded by thoughtfully curated plants, creating a truly magical atmosphere. The grill was easy to use, making outdoor meals a breeze. Inside, the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms spotless. We also appreciated how thoughtfully designed the space was, especially since it's hard to find a cute place that also warmly welcomes dogs. If you’re considering a stay here, don’t hesitate, this place is a gem! We can’t wait to return.

Nikki‘s place is amazing. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a place local to Bucksport or surrounding areas. The house is so well equipped, like walking into my own home. The knives are sharp and the pans are top-notch; house honestly has everything you can imagine from art supplies and coloring books to a pile of board games. The beds are memory foam and some are more firm than others meeting a variety of preferences. Lots of towels and household supplies are provided! Spices, oils, vinegars, and some condiments made it easy to pick up a load of groceries and be good to go for our week long stay. Nikki had bug spray, sunblock, grocery bags… honestly, she has everything! She was also incredibly responsive to every message I sent and helped troubleshoot a minor wifi outage super quick. Everyone we had over complimented how cute the decor was and was so impressed with the house overall. I feel like this place is exactly what Airbnb started as! No wonder why reviews are 5*!

Simply magical! Cozy and fun space. We enjoyed watching eagles and ospreys fish, seals pop their heads up, and even an adorable family of foxes from the comfort of the living room! Kitchen had all necessities for cooking most meals at home. A nice trail for walking down the road and an awesome beach where the kids threw stones and searched for seaglass each afternoon. We were all sad to leave!

Do not hesitate to book here! This is a perfect little Airbnb with everything you need! The king size bed is amazing and the cows across the street are so cute but best off all is the hot tub just steps from the back door off the bedroom. This makes it so peaceful to watch the stars from the hot tub then walk a few steps back inside and straight into the shower. We also used this airbnb as a home base and drove to Acadia to spend a day in bar harbor and that worked great. Would happily come back here!

Thomas is an awesome host with an amazing cabin. He was super responsive and helpful throughout. The place is exactly as described. It is a wonderful getaway to relax and unwind surrounded by nature. The cabin is very well equipped for everything one would need. Absolutely would love to come back!

We had a wonderful stay! One of the highlights was kayaking on the pond with our kids—it was such a special way to explore the water and enjoy the calm, quiet surroundings. The dock and yard were incredibly peaceful, perfect for morning coffee or just watching the kids play and paddle. The entire property felt like a true escape. The hosts were also fantastic—friendly, welcoming, and super responsive whenever we had a question. We’d absolutely come back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing family getaway.

This lake house. There is something about the state of Maine that we love. And now....there is something about this lake house that we love too. The location is great. You feel secluded & away from things, but you are not far from anything. This was our 2nd time staying, & we can not wait to stay again. Hoping to return in October. As the Maine quote goes, The way life should be, is exactly how we feel about the state & the lake house.
