  • We booked Clare’s place as a very last minute escape following the cancellation of our trip to Berlin because of the ongoing Coronavirus situation. We wanted somewhere rural and private as a kind of ‘escape’ from the current situation... and what an escape it was... The location was amazing.... lovely views of the countryside and wildlife... to wake up to chickens and ducks playing in the pond opposite the mill was very cute......you can stay in the mill and see no one if you like, or drive 5 minutes into a lovely quaint town...perfect. The mill is simply stunning....no other words; beautifully finished and furnished... an absolute testament to Clare who project managed the mill’s restoration.. It was spotlessly & professionally cleaned before our arrival, the bath was amazing and the bed ridiculously comfortable. Clare was very generous & kind. The ‘perfect host’. Communication was excellent and all the extra touches on arrival ( I won’t ruin the surprise) made us feel special & welcome. If you don’t stay here, you really are missing out!! In this current climate of uncertainty and anxiety, this is really the perfect escape. We’d love to stay again in the future. Thank you Clare

  • Absolutely stunning accommodation, we will be back!

    Andrew2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really amazing stay at the windmill. It’s such a unique building and really nicely done inside. We really enjoyed sitting out on the staging to watch the sunrise, despite the single figure temperatures. Claire is an excellent host! She was really helpful - lending us some bits to clean up our walking boots after encountering a huge bog on our afternoon walk. Highly recommend a visit and we’d definitely be keen to stay again.

    Suzy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A really special, well designed space. We couldn’t be happier that it rained the whole time as it meant we got to spend the whole stay in the windmill! Thanks

    Steve2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing Windmill and what an amazing location! Clare was also so kind - and even gave us some fresh rhubarb from her garden. She was incredibly helpful and gave us lots of tips for the area. Would recommend this place 150 percent!

  • The most perfect place for a relaxing break away! So unique & quaint, with the most heavenly bedding! Clare is a great host.... we can’t wait to come and visit again! X

    Georgina2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • One of the most extraordinary spaces we've stayed in. Peaceful, and immaculately kept. It's every bit as good as it looks in the listing. Clare's insights on the area were invaluable too - and she couldn't have been more accommodating (eg for a dietary requirement). Thank you so much again.

    Justin2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • The mill was absolutely amazing, and Clare and her husband were lovely. Would highly recommend.

The barn, in the grounds of our 15th century house but nicely private, is decorated in comfortable, modern rustic style, with underfloor heating and a wood burner. Outside is a fire pit for toasting marshmallows and stargazing before climbing into the king-size bed, dressed with soft Egyptian cotton. There's a large walk-in rain shower and robes. There are books to read, DVDs to watch, board games to play. Tear yourself away to explore the stunning local countryside, gardens, vineyards and castles or to eat in great pubs and restaurants.
Our holiday let is set in the grounds of our 15th century house, yet it is not overlooked. It has recently been refurbished (March 2017) and we have tried to make it the kind of place we like to stay in ourselves. The large, light-filled, open plan living/kitchen/dining area has floor to ceiling bi-fold doors opening out onto its own garden. Sit outside - choose from the table and chairs or the big double sun lounger - and listen to the birdsong or go for a stroll in the meadow. By night you can enjoy a starry sky by the light of the fire pit, which also has a grill for BBQ - or marshmallow toasting! The decor inside is 'country cool' - luxuriously comfortable and with nods to the area's heritage as 'The Garden of England', including vintage apple crates used as kitchen shelves and a framed photo of workers in a local hop field in the 1940s. In fact our house next door was, until recently, the farmhouse for the surrounding hop farm which still operates in the traditional way - one of the last remaining in Kent! There's a bedroom with king sized bed and garden views. The bed linen is 600 thread count finest Egyptian cotton, the duvets and pillows goose down. There's a Moroccan style shower room. Things are kept cosy with underfloor heating and fluffy rugs, a woodburner, soft bathrobes and slippers. Board games, books and DVDs will keep you busy plus there's free WiFi and a large flatscreen TV with freeview. The kitchen has all the essential equipment - whether you want to cook up a feast or simply prepare snacks to sustain you in between visiting the many excellent restaurants in the area. We provide a welcome hamper including milk, bread, butter and eggs plus a bottle of local wine to kick off your stay. You will find olive oil, salt, pepper, dried herbs and spices, tea, coffee and sugar. There's washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, cloths and cleaning products and, in the bathroom, heavenly Aromatherapy Associates body wash, shampoo and conditioner. We also provide logs for the woodburner and for the firepit. End of stay cleaning is included. John is a rehabilitation specialist and also teaches Nordic Walking and Pilates. So let us know when you are booking if you are interested in knowing more. We can offer private 'Learn to Nordic Walk' stays - a lovely safe way to exercise, to discover the local countryside and learn a skill that you can use when you return home - visit www.nordicwalkingkent.co.uk if you'd like to read about this increasingly popular activity. Likewise, if you have a niggling problem with your back, knee, shoulder...whatever!...speak to us about having private rehabilitation or remedial massage in the studio, which is right next to the holiday let. One-to-one and two-to-one Pilates can also be taught here. Alternatively, book a whole weekend or week long 'overhaul', with several hours of mixed exercise and advice on diet and lifestyle. It's all possible...Let us know what you want and we can tailor something to fit. ...

  • Little Bugglesden was lovely, perfect for a weekend away in the country. The surrounding countryside is perfect for walks and lots of lovely cafes, restaurants and pubs nearby. Emma and John were also lovely, very helpful and accommodating. The log burner fire was an added bonus.

  • We stayed for 4 nights and could easily have stayed on longer. Peaceful little cottage and a welcome change from the city. The place is styled beautifully and the wood burner was wonderful. Emma couldn’t have been more helpful. We hope to return again in future.

  • Amazing weekend getaway in this lovely cottage! It’s very cosy different things to do around the area. We couldn’t get over the living room and how it made us feel at home! Bed and pillows are extremely comfy as well! Really happy with our stay! Would recommend!

  • A lovely place to get away for a break. Quiet, peaceful and just right for two people to enjoy some down time. Plenty to do nearby and very helpful host 👌

    David2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Little Bugglesden is a beautiful place for a cosy getaway. It's off the main road and outside of Tenterden so is gloriously peaceful, and after being warmly greeted by John on our first night we had a lovely weekend of going for walks, enjoying local food (The Three Chimneys was our favourite) and curling up on the sofa in front of the fire. The place is spotlessly clean and had everything we needed, and we would love to go back one day!

It has been recently renovated to a high standard and offers large double bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms with breathtaking views of the idyllic Kentish countryside. The Coach House sleeps a maximum of 18 people in eight double rooms and two guest beds in a separate room off Bedroom 6. Nearby, the Bewl reservoir offers boat trips and bicycle hire, Scotney Castle is open to the public everyday (at the end of the private drive) and Bedgebury Pinetum, with fascinating walks and children's play areas, is within a 5 mins drive.
  • The Coach House is beautifully done up, Harriet's responsiveness is unparalleled, and her chef recommendation of Mark made all the difference. Thank you

    Will2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at this property for a friends get together in February. The property exceeded our expectations, it was beautifully laid out, stunning surroundings and a great space. There were 16 of us, every room having it’s own bathroom was a great bonus. The communal spaces are perfect for large gatherings. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you would need. Natalia was really friendly and helpful at check in and Harriet super speedy at replying to any questions prior to arrival. We had the best weekend there! We also went and did a tour at Anno Distillery only 20 mins which was amazing and fun thing to do as a group.

    Maria2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Coach house is absolutely beautiful. We hired it for a weekend for my husbands 40th and it was so great to have each room en-suite - gave everyone their space while still being a great house for a group. The photos do t do justice to the communal spaces which are just as great as the bedrooms. We took Harriets advice and booked Mark to cater our Saturday night dinner and the food and service was brilliant. Book you won’t be disappointed!

    Rebecca2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly hosts and great communication. Both the inside & outside of the property look great too.

    Leon2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Faultless. This house is perfect. We were a party of 16 and it was so nice that each couple had their own double room with en-suite. It is immaculate. The country walks directly from the house (especially to the castle) are stunning and the local pubs are great. We were greeted by the amazing Natalia on arrival and nothing was too much trouble. Do book - you won’t be disappointed.

    Harriet2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The photos don’t do it justice! Every room is beautiful and so stylish, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen is fully equipped and the walk to Scotney Castle / pubs is literally on the doorstep. The perfect country getaway. Thoroughly recommend.

    Danielle2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in the Coach House. Would love to go back. Beautiful setting and very high standard all over - including the bathrooms that are not pictured in the listing. Easily accommodated all 12 of us.

The Lodge, once again, was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we needed for a weekend of total rest and relaxation, including prosecco and chocolates! Many thanks to David and Julie - swift responses to emails, flexibility with the check in and out times and for the little touches that made for such a warm welcome at The Lodge, we had a great time!

We would be happy to welcome you to our recently converted timber framed building (once a pig shed!) with modern furnishing, wooden floors and high ceilings. 1 double and 1 twin bedroom. Fully equipped kitchen, WiFi, Freeview TV, walk-in shower. Peaceful Kentish countryside location, set in half an acre of garden, 1 mile from Tenterden. Suitable for weekend getaways, family holidays and also an ideal venue for small business meetings.
Pickle Cottage was once the "Pig Shed" for the farm and we have now renovated it to provide modern and spacious accommodation to suit 4 people. An additional bed can be provided on request for small additional fee. The living/dining area is open plan and therefore large enough for small business meetings for 6-8 people during the day.
In the heart of the Weald of Kent, often called the "Garden of England". Tenterden itself is an historic small, Cinque Ports town with lots of shops, cafes and restaurants. The Kent and East Sussex railway line runs through Tenterden, taking visitors to nearby Bodiam Castle. Also close by are Sissinghurst, Leeds Castle and Great Dixter. Great English Wine is produced at Chapel Down Vineyard in Tenterden and several other Vineyards in the local area. The ancient town of Rye is 8 miles away and the sandy beach of Camber Sands is also within a few miles. A Rare Breeds farm is located in Woodchurch, 5 miles away, where small children can interact with the farm animals. If you like shopping, in Ashford, approximately 20 minutes away there is the well-known McArthur Glen outlet centre where lots of famous brands are sold. Trains go to London from Headcorn (8 miles away) and also to Calais from Folkestone (25 miles away).
  • Pickle Cottage was a great place to stay. Hosts, cottage and location were all fantastic for a nice relaxing break. Very well equipped, even providing kitchen basics and kids tableware. Best Air B&B we've stayed in.

  • An amazing location and venue. So quiet and peaceful a real feeling you could leave the world at the front door

    Hannah2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at Pickle Cottage. Our 3-year old loved playing with the dog and seeing the hens wandering about. Dimmable lighting and a log fire made the evenings a real treat. The local farm shop sells COOK ready meals in addition to all the usual things you’d expect and Tenterden itself has a Tesco and Waitrose. Sissinghurst Castle & Gardens great to visit. Highly recommend :)

  • We had a fabulous weekend, the house was spacious, clean and beautiful..couldn’t have asked for more.

    Frances2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • I’m agreeing with previous comments on here. There were 10 of us and the place didn’t seem crowded at all. Some interesting furniture pieces. We walked to Sissinghurst castle which is worth a visit. My group all said how relaxed they all felt afterwards.

    Reece2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We were a group of 10 friends who were having a weekend away in the countryside and Tollgate Farm suited our requirements nicely. Tim was always prompt with his replies to any queries and the house was clean and as described. It was also spacious and didn't feel cramped even with the size of our group. We had a very enjoyable stay here.

  • A wonderful, peaceful, spacious home from home, we really had a great time, loved the house and all it had to offer, also enjoyed our time in Cranbrook and surrounding areas. We had a little trouble with the WiFi whilst we were there, so recommended you print off the information pack before you go, everything is on there you need to know, just in case you can't download it off your phone or my phone is out of the dark ages, really not very techo or the service provider was down at the time?????? I would fully recommend staying at Tim's, we had the best time ever. Thanks TIM

We recently converted an outbuilding into a two bedroom house. The house is detached and purpose built. We aimed to create a space that was bright, airy and incorporated the gorgeous woodland and farmland around us. When you stay with us you can expect to be in a peaceful rural setting with stunning views which can be admired from either the patio or through the large bifold doors leading from the main living area.
The downstairs has a lovely open plan kitchen and sitting room with oak beams throughout. The upstairs has a large double and a twin room, with window seats, and a stunning apex window offering fabulous views across the Kentish countryside. The shower room is also located upstairs. Each bedroom has cotton linen, quality mattresses and Egyptian cotton towels. A travel cot and clip on highchair are available for smaller visitors. Downstairs the well equipped kitchen has everything you would need to cook up a feast. The cottage has Wi-Fi and Free View television and a washer dryer.
We are lucky to live on the fringes of the beautiful village of Benenden which is set in the heart of the Weald of Kent. We live a short walk away from Hemsted forest so you have country walks from the doorstep, a lively local village pub (2 minutes drive down the road) serving good pub grub, a little village shop and cafe as well as a butchers. Other attractions are a short drive away such as the gorgeous Sissinghurst castle with its stunning gardens (5 minutes by car), Bewl Water, Biddenden Vinyards and Chapel Down Vineyards (7 and 20 minutes respectively), Bodiam boating Station for canoeing (15 minutes max) and Bodiam castle (15 Minutes) to name a few. We are also located very near the coast so it would only take 30 minutes to get to Camber sands, Winchelsea beach and Rye Harbour.in
  • We stayed at Charlotte’s place for a long weekend in March. The cottage is the perfect little country retreat, family friendly and very well located for Rye and nearby attractions such as Sissinghurst Castle gardens. Fully equipped for kids with high chair, travel cot and boxes of toys. Set in idyllic Kent countryside. Would highly recommend!

    Tom2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • A very peaceful woodland retreat. Charlotte was very welcoming, quick to communicate. The cottage was spotless, stylish, cosy and very comfortable for the two of us. The views are what made me decide to book the cottage and they didn't disappoint. Would recommend.

  • A super clean, well equipped, lovely place to stay.

    Lucy2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Charlottes place is exactly as described with the addition of being more spacious than that suggests. Perhaps with a slight exception of the bathroom which if you’re 6 foot five like me was possibly a little challenging in the shower department! Having said that everything else was great, super comfy beds beautiful views local tips and suggestions in the folder which Charlotte left were absolutely spot-on and it’s a great part of England to enjoy exploring from a superclean,Cosy and stylish space. We were travelling with our two-year-old and five-year-old and they enjoyed the books and Lego that were in the van, and the views were tickly in the morning at the sunrise were beautiful and we would really recommend to eat the white dog and lots of attractions nearby. Would highly recommend!

    Julian2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Place is exceptionally clean and everything is there that you would need. Amazing find in a secluded spot. Host was very friendly and made the whole process easy and stress free.

    Michelle2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and a colleague were travelling for work for the week and had a great stay at Charlotte’s. Everything was nice and clean and the beds were comfy. The kitchen was perfectly equipped. The local Pub was in walking distance and served excellent food and drink. I’d definitely recommend staying at Charlotte’s 👍

This is a beautiful area with stunning countryside and picturesque Wealden villages. There are many wonderful footpaths which can be explored from our doorstep. In springtime the lambs and bluebells are magical! What could be better than a fabulous walk followed by a delicious meal in The Bull (a stone's throw from here). It's a great pub with log fires in winter and its very own Secret Garden to enjoy in warmer weather! Or sit by the village green and take in the cricket.

Less than a minute's walk is The Bull which serves excellent food (Sunday carvery recommended) and has a wonderful inglenook fire to warm the winter days! We are happy to reserve a table for you. • Perfect little cabin for a getaway in Kent. The cabin is spacious and has everything you need for a short stay. The bed was super comfy and the continental style breakfast that Sue and Alan provide was a really nice touch...the fresh local bread is delicious. The Bull pub next door is lovely, we only had a drink in there but the food is supposed to be good too and the local area has lots of sights to see, including some excellent Kent wineries. Thanks Sue and Alan for a lovely stay!

  • The Summer House is very private, clean and every detail has been thought out. Alan was a very friendly and helpful host. I didn’t meet Sue but she left a welcome note and was quick to communicate on Airbnb. It is in the centre of the village with the very popular local pub and community stores/cafe a short walk away. A very relaxing stay and I was even allowed a late check-out which was incredibly helpful.

    Nicky2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Such a gorgeous place. This little Summer house is just beautiful. A great place to go for time out away from everything. Really wonderful pub next door!! • A fantastic bolt hole for two people. There was a lot of attention to detail and wonderful local produce which made a delicious breakfast! The water pressure is a little weak but it was overall a great stay for us as we attended a wedding right next door at the village hall! Perfect location and very private. Definitely recommend.

    Chelsea2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Summer House is a lovely space - cosy and private, it had everything we needed for our weekend stay. Sue and Alan had left homemade bread and jam for our arrival which was delicious. Very clean and beautifully furnished. Great stay.

  • A wonderful stay at the Oak Barn for a long weekend with family. If you're looking for somewhere quiet, cosy and picturesque, look no further. Jill made a great host, providing tea and homemake cake on our arrival. The bedrooms are spacious, beds are huge and comfy. The lounge and kitchen areas are perfect for unwinding with friends & family with everything needed to look after yourselves during your stay. The grounds however are the ultimate plus for your stay, surrounded by acres of fields, trees and lakes to explore - a perfect backdrop. I loved the indoor log burner and outdoor fire pit, perfect for relaxing in the evening or on cold days. Thank you once again, Jill - Certainly looking forward to coming back in the future.

  • Tranquil, magical and cosy! This cottage is tucked away in the peaceful countryside - Lucy was such a good host always on hand if we needed anything! The property was immaculate and very well kept. Lucy had some lovely festive touches put out for us and had welcoming amenities too. We loved the fireplace and the peaceful nature of the area. My partner loved the wood detailing and quality. Would personally recommend the Woodcock Inn for anyone booking this - as a lovely local pub! My partner and I found it by chance and it was amazing. Thanks again Lucy for making Christmas even more magical! ✨

Located in the High Weald area of Kent which is an AONB, The Cabin at Valley View Farm is set in its own space amongst 16 acres of wood and grazing. It used to be an old hop pickers mobile home but has been lovingly restored to a modern, well presented “mini” haven. A fully self-contained cabin with open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area, king size bed in bedroom and a shower room and toilet. Ideal for a couple or two singles as a Z-bed can be provided. Private outside veranda with a fire pit.
Located in the High Weald area of Kent which is an Area Of Outstanding Beauty, The Cabin at Valley View Farm is set in its own space amongst 16 acres of wood and grazing. It used to be an old hop pickers mobile home but has been lovingly restored to a modern, well presented “mini” haven. Peaceful, quiet and isolated. Private veranda with a fire-pit and a small garden where you can watch the birdlife including woodpeckers. Catch the odd glimpse of the deer in the woods. All totally isolated. It is a perfect place for couples and singles to come and get away from busy lives and there is so much to do within easy reach there is not room to attempt to list them all here. Alternatively snuggle in and watch some DVD's and have some much needed down time. Some of the attractions are the harbour town of Rye, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Hastings, Battle, Headcorn for the aerodrome and Maidstone. Too many NT and Heritage sites to list but you can easily get to Batemans, Scotney, Bodiam, Leeds and Sissinghurst Castles and Hole Park in Rolvenden which is privately owned and Great Dixter Manor and Gardens just down the road. Bedgebury Pinetum and Hempstead Woods offer fantastic walking opportunities and also cycling is a very popular hobby in the area, you can bring your own or hire one locally. There is the Bodiam Boating Centre a couple of miles away where you can take leisurely craft up to the Castle or hire a kayak and go up and down the river at a more leisurely pace. The East Sussex Vintage Steam Railway is to be found in another Cinque Port town of Tenterden which is only a 15 mins drive. The railway can take you on a 10 mile trip through the countryside and up to Bodiam. If the weather is on side Camber Sands is 30/40 minutes drive offering miles of golden coastline and Winchelsea not too far away. The village of Sandhurst is set amongst acres and acres of vineyards and hop fields. Luckily the end products can be tried and tested at nearly Chapel Down, Biddenden and Hush Heath Vineyards in Staplehurst. You also do not have to go far at all for plenty of great places to eat and drink including cafes, restaurants and old traditional country pubs. If the weather is inclement then nearby Hawkhurst (and Rye) offers a lovely boutique cinema, the Kino, where you can sit in small theatres and enjoy the latest films with a glass of wine and some sweet treats !. A fully self-contained cabin with open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area, king size bed in bedroom and a shower room and toilet. Ideal for a couple or two singles as a Z-bed can be provided. The Cabin is set on one level but it has steps up to it. Lounge area has a large sofa and an electric wood burner, a flat screen TV able to play on-demand Netflix, Amazon Prime (guest own account), catch-up TV with a built-in DVD (some DVDs supplied) and a DAB radio. Dining area with two chairs and a table. Bathroom has a shower, toilet, basin and heated towel rail. Wifi included. Decked veranda with Adirondak chairs where you can sit and have breakfas.t, bird spot and see the odd deer in the woods and the ponies in the fields beyond. There is a fire pit where you can roast marshmallows and sit out under a canopy of star on a clear night. There is also a small garden area with a picnic table. The veranda looks out onto the 8 acre wood. Stunning when the bluebells are out.
Our neighbourhood is very peaceful but you do not have to go far for a multitude of sites to see and places to eat and drink. Recommendations can be given.

  • A beautiful rural cabin surrounded by countryside and even a beautiful little private area of forest! The perfect way to escape for a break of relaxation in the middle of nature. Karen and David were wonderful hosts, always on hand to give advice and recommendations for local walks, cafes, restaurants etc. We would 100% recommend a visit to Lime Wharf cafe by the boating station which has amazing breakfasts and the best brownies ever! Karen and David have some wonderful animals, ponies and dogs, who were beautiful and very friendly, and we were lucky to be able to spend some time with them, and hearing their stories. Thank you Karen and David for a wonderful weekend!

  • Peter & Lynne's place is lovely, very clean and stylish. Every aspect is very well curated and they live in a beautiful area. We unfortunately spent only one night there as we were there for a wedding. They were also very kind to let us check in earlier and Lynne left an ironing board as she knew we were there for a wedding! Thank you again :)

  • We had a lovely stay at the hay barn. Peter and Lynne were very accommodating, changing the time of check in for us to be able to get in earlier. They also offered guidance on where you can eat. A perfect place to stay, I would highly recommend

An ideal place if you are visiting Benenden, Tenterden, Ashford and Tunbridge well.

  • This place is very clean. The host tidies the room every day. We also enjoyed our privacy, as there was a separate entrance. I would have loved it even more if I had had a table, 2 chairs, a microwave, and a fridge. It was slightly awkward to close/open the gate. Nonetheless, we are grateful that Melody provided us with simple breakfast the night before. Would come back!

Melody was very thoughtful in her approach to accommodating me and helped me explore Sissinghurst Castle gardens by giving me a lift there as well as advising me on local trails/ walks. I had the pleasure of meeting her sons briefly too. Overall a very good hospitality experience.

  • What a place to stay!! Stylish place, very nice touches like fresh daffodills :) Enjoyed staying at Cabin a lot! Catherine is very nice host, gave us some breakfast essentials. When you lay in the double bed upstairs you can admire stars in the sky, also chest of drawers have decorative knobs :) Towels very very soft, enjoyed every moment of our stay. Would highly recommend!

  • Stayed over a long weekend for two nights and it was such a relief and stress free experience especially if you come from the city. Easily accessible though a car or taxi would be needed. We went for dinner st the Milk House pub which was terrific less than 10 minutes away driving. We also went to the Hush Heath Vineyard which was an amazing and tasteful experience less than 20 minutes driving. On a clear night you can see the stars laying from the bed due to the sky lights. We decided to cook one of the other nights and the kitchen has everything you could need for doing that! All in all a pleasant stay in the Kent countryside which may surprise you.

Coldharbour Barn Port is one of a pair of similar apartments . Both have their own totally separate accomodation and private patio areas. They are set in beautiful Kent countryside down a farm lane, but still within a short 0.5 mile walk of the historic town of Tenterden. Each unit has a fully equipped kitchen with an open plan sitting and eating area. The properties are both new conversions and are built to modern building safety regulations. Chapel Down vineyard is a 5-10 minute drive.
The property is entered via large patio doors which look out onto your private landscaped patio area. You firstly enter the open plan dining and living area, which has a fully equipped kitchen and a smart tv. Guests can log in to their own netflix or Amazon accounts. The bedroom has a king size double bed, ample cupboard space for all your belongings and its own separate smart TV. The fully tiled bathroom has a modern walk in shower, toilet and basin as you would expect from a recently converted property. This property is unsuitable for children as there are unfenced ponds.
We are set in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and yet only within a short walk of Tenterden High Street, with all its facilities. There is The Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway, where a train journey through beautiful countryside can take you to The National Trust property Bodiam Castle. Other nearby Trust properties include Sissinghurst Castle and Garden, Great Dixter, Scotney Castle and Ellen Terry's house and Barn Theatre. The historic and picturesque town of Rye, together with its quirky shops and magnificent Camber Sands Beach is about 10 miles distant. There are several local vineyards that can be visited including the renowned Chapel Down of royal wedding fame. The property is self catering, so if you need any supplies the local Tesco is a round trip of 10 minutes if you need only 1 item, more if you have a shopping list! There is also a Waitrose in Tenterden.

  • I booked James apartment for the weekend as part of my husbands 30th birthday celebrations and I’m so pleased I did! Location was ideal as we were about a 10/15 minute walk from Tenderten High Street, perfect for exploring the local pubs in the day! In the evening we were able to get a taxi to dinner and back no problem, as long as you book in advance. We also used taxis to get to and from Chapel Down the next day, very friendly and reliable! This location is ideal if you’re planning to visit chapel down while your here. The apartment itself was exceptionally clean and fitted out to a very high standard. We felt very at home straight away as it had everything we needed. James as a host was very friendly and helpful. We would love to come back!

A cosy, light and spacious traditional oak-framed building with a minstrels' gallery and a full height living area. Standing in seven acres of private grounds, on the path of an ancient but now forgotten travellers' way, Whistlers is surrounded by meadows, orchards and woodland walks.
Help yourself to our gardens, our duckpond, our wishing well and our home-grown fruit and veg. The main house stands close by. It was built in 1470 and has some interesting architectural features which we're always happy to show.
We're a mile from world famous Sissinghurst Castle Gardens and a short drive from the pretty market towns of Cranbrook and Tenterden with its steam railway as well as both Bodiam and Scotney Castles. The beautiful seaside town of Rye is a half-hour drive - with the coastal attractions of Hastings and Camber Sands close by. Hempstead Forest is on our doorstep and Bewl Water with its cycle paths and water sports.
  • Fantastic place, stylish barn with lots of lovely features. Well equipped and set within beautiful grounds. Christopher was very charming and helpful. I'ts one of those little places you sort of don't want to tell people about as you may have trouble re-booking!

What made it even better was his cute dog which we got the chance to see. Definitely recommend this place!

  • Gorgeous place in tranquil setting. Host James was extremely helpful and hospitable. We stayed in Starboard; lovely, cosy and spotlessly clean. We loved the bathroom especially the rainforest shower - instant hot water! Thoughtful touches included fresh milk in the fridge upon arrival, tea, coffee, sugar and a supply of muesli which I think was homemade.. yum. 10-15 minute stroll into the centre of Tenterden. All in all I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending James’ lovely well kept accommodation.

    Julie2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • James was a great host, left us to our own devices but ensured we had everything we needed. Fantastic property easily within walking distance of the high street (10mins with a pushchair), supermarkets nearby and fantastic walks everywhere. The property was spotless almost as if it was brand new, couldn’t fault anything.

  • Enjoyed a 2 night stay at Coldharbour Barn. The apartment is finished to a high standard, it is comfortable and cosy and provides every amenity. The location is perfect for visiting Tenterden, we didn't use the car during the weekend and made the most of the short walk to the Christmas market that was held over 3 days. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Tenterden.

We went to Bateman's, walked to Smallhythe and explored Sissinghurst. The apartment is super clean with everything you could want. James is an excellent host and replies very quickly to any communication. Would highly recommend and would stay again. Thank you James

  • Place doesnt have sockets so make sure to carry enough powerbanks to charge your phones, there is one powerbank provided by the host but for us as we stayed for two nights, had to use our own too which thankfully lasted until end of trip. Laptops only lasted a day. Place doesnt have a fridge but has a cooler outside. It is very quiet place but we loved it.

    Rekha2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful spot, and what a small and perfectly formed gem the cabin was. There was a real 'wow' factor to the view, and it was just lovely to sit out on the deck and watch the sun set with the firepit on the go. It was a perfect de-stress for us as busy city dwellers with kids. Also handy to have a friendly pub just five minutes away.

  • A delightful property to go alongside a delightful host! Louise has clearly put so much thought into things and my friend and I had a really quiet and comfortable night’s sleep. The style is very Scandi/hygge so you immediately feel relaxed, and the area is incredibly tranquil. We were a short walk away (less than 10mins) from The Woodcock Inn, which serves delicious food at good prices, so we’d recommend there if you wanted to eat out locally. Louise was great at keeping in touch and gave us such a warm welcome. I’d definitely recommend this property for an escape into the Garden of England.

    Christopher2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Louise's. Right in the heart of the countryside and a beautifully decorated and equipped annex that felt very private. We had 2 long relaxing walks that Louise helped us to plan (thanks). The local pub in the evening was a 15 minute walk with tasty, good value food with a nice atmosphere (take a torch) . We'll definitely re-book in the future. Regards Patricia & Paul
