Places to stay in California Hot Springs
This darling cabin in the Sequoia National Forest ( not the park) is the perfect place to get away from it all. It features mineral hot springs water pumped directly into the cabin. There's a seasonal creek running under the cabin as well. The cabin is a very short walk from the lodge that has a pool, hot tub, deli, and ice cream shop. Climbers will enjoy The Needles a short drive away. So much beauty and natural wonder surrounds you here.
This cabin sits in the Sequoia National Forrest ( not park). The Sierra Nevada Mountains are breathtaking in all seasons. We have wildlife such as deer and lots of squirrels. Raccoons visit at times too. A small stream runs under the cabin most of the year. It provides soothing sounds at night when all is quiet. There is a year round creek across the road and the Ca Hot Springs Lodge about 200 yards down the road. The lodge has a fee use warm water swimming pool and hot tub as well as a great deli and ice cream shop. The town of Pine Flat is 5 minutes up the road with a fabulous cafe and a small grocery store. Rock climbers will enjoy several great crags a short drive from home. There is an oversized bathtub to soak in the hot mineral water. It's also safe and great to drink. There is no sulfur like with some hot springs. The entire cabin has a very eclectic good vibe to it. The cabin was built in the 1930’s and has been updated along the way. It still has that old school feel to it though. * please note: this is a mountain community and things run differently then in the city. During inclement weather I am not responsible for your travel. In winter, bring chains and warm clothes. Our wonderful hot springs water is delivered by a small private water company. Rarely the water is interrupted by weather or mechanical issues. The owners live in CHS and will fix it as soon as possible. I will not refund money unless the water is off for an extended amount of time. This has only happened 3 times in the 4 years I’ve owned the cabin. *
It's a beautiful mountain area with very friendly people in all the stores and shops.
  • My return trip was even better than my 1st time at Dianes. Perfect location to play around the mountains and relax at California Hot Springs resort. I'll be back again. :)

  • Diane's place was the perfect nest for me to feel inspired and focused as I worked on a writing project for 2 weeks!! If you need quiet and comfort in a stylish place look no further!

  • This place was very nice, and had nice decoration. The area is far from major stores but the local store owner is nice, and gave us a good hike recommendation even on a rainy day. Would recommend this place to those who want to enjoy a hike, a private space, and the hot springs.

    Joshua2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay! The house is super cute and very close to a couple of nice trails. Diane is an excellent host and was great at communication.

    Roy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Dianes is a great place for a quiet get away! Everything from the communication to the comfy bed was perfect. Enjoy a long soak and afterwards star gaze from the front patio. I'll definitely be back.

    Patrick2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy place and a beautiful drive leading to it. The shower/bath was a treat with the natural spring water. Not much to do in the area other than the sequoia national park 2 hours away but our stay was peaceful and lovely :)

  • Amazing cabin at great location with unbeatable hot spring water bath amenity. Love this place!

    Patty2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second time at this lovely little cabin. It is so comfortable and sweet. The deep bath tub with the hot springs water is incredible and the fact that the place is so close to the resort (which is basically like a beautiful old community center/dance hall with pool and hot tubs) is so cool. I hope to come back again soon. Thanks Diane!

90 minutes from Bakersfield (and a world away!) Quiet secluded getaway at the end of a very low traffic cul de sac. Many side trips and places to see for outdoors types and nature lovers. We have created an orientation binder that offers details and directions for day trips and activities you may want to consider.
  • The Pine flat getaway was absolutely gorgeous from the get-go, and i mean the drive up! Winding country and mountain roads up to a tiny neighborhood tucked in the middle of nothing. It was secluded but not isolated. The house was surrounded by big beautiful trees and rolling hills and a couple of neighboring houses that were mostly empty. We enjoyed quite a bit of privacy, which was exactly what we were looking for! the lack of phone service was minorly inconvenient, but was actually a blessing in disguise because it got us to really pay attention to eachother. There's a big ol tub that i took full advantage of and loved and the candles were an especially nice touch. Mark was incredibly helpful with directions (listen to his! not the gps) and with tips on the town and stuff to do. We hiked down to the nearby waterfall, twice! It was the romantic, get-away-from-it-all, mini-vacay we needed. We'll defintely be back in the summer when all the other beautiful trails open up!

  • Cozy home , everything you can for & more. Great place to get away and enjoy the beautiful nature and scenery surrounding the home. Multiple trails nearby, people in the community very nice & welcoming. Definitely a hidden gem and will be back

  • Lovely home & host!

    Mayzie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was worth the drive! It is such a secluded and peaceful place to enjoy nature without having to rough it out by camping with a tent. The home itself is super cozy and inviting. Nostalgic in style, but modern given the access to WiFi and satellite TV. This is a really well kept place, not to mention the hammock and bbq grill were nice amenities. I would highly suggest to plan your travels earlier in the day for the best visibility to get there as there are many narrow and windy roads. The address to where your navigation takes you is not necessarily where the actual property is. It is important to read carefully the directions, but I found it most helpful to use the 7 Oaks Market as destination on my smartphone and then took it from there. One of the great Airbnb properties in SoCal!

    Janine2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is very cozy. Great location to see sequoia national forest. There were lots of snow when we drove up to the mountain for 30 mnts. heater and hot water work very well. But this place has no cell phone reception in this village. Navigation is also not dependable at all. We had to carefully follow owners instruction to find the house. Because of the road condition, mark was very concerned about us. Other than that we had great time doing snow play with my kids.

    Sunghye2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Really great place. Take into consideration that it takes 45 min to get to the house from the main road. Beautiful mountain drive that winds-up all the way to the place. Great amenities and recommendations for the area. Bring groceries or plan to stop and see Ziggy at Seven Oaks restaurant for all your cooking needs. Overall great stay for seeing some sequoias in the area.

    James2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Mark was an excellent host, so kind and understanding! I got snowed in at his place and he kept me safe, warm, and tended. He worked with lots of locals to tow me out after one of the biggest storms of the year. Mark goes above and beyond.

    Allie2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Mark's place is fabulous, exactly as described. the interior is really amazing, just the highest class, so much better than any normal 'rustic cabin' type experience, with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, sunken tub, new carpets, huge kitchen. Everything you could possibly want. And his 'local tips' in the property's manual were all THE BEST I've ever had. We used all of them, went to the places he described, exactly as described. Helped us a ton. Would TOTALLY go back and visit again!!!

Get away from the buzz to the peace and beauty of California Hot Springs in the Sequoia National Forest. This cozy, charming cabin is on a creek amongst oak, fur and cedar trees. Just 3 hours from Los Angeles.
This 700 square foot cabin is cozy and charming, with a woodsy, rustic feel. It is peaceful with a lovely view. The wood stove is central to the downstairs living area. The furnishings include a queen size sofa bed, comfy overstuffed swivel chair, cabinet with a wide variety of games, TV with VCR and DVD player, and a desk. There is a heater/AC unit on the wall that adequately conditions the whole cabin. The upstairs loft has a queen size bed and a dressing/closet area. The kitchen is pleasant and fully stocked with a stove, fridge, toaster-over, coffee maker (with a permanent filter), blender, pots/pans/dishes/etc. Outside, a deck looks out onto the creek that borders the property, and a ½ acre of fur, cedar and oak trees. For those who are electronically sensitive, you will love my cabin! No cell reception, Wi-Fi, cordless phones, smart meters or other equipment with RF. For all others, enjoy being unplugged. Take a vacation from all those gadgets and find out how wonderfully peaceful it is.
In the Sequoia National Forest (not the Park), my place is at the end of a private road which is lined with lovely cabins and houses. Most are vacation homes, but there are just enough permanent residents to create safety in the wilderness. Everyone is very friendly, and it is quiet and peaceful here. The cabin is 3 miles from the California Hot Springs Resort where you can soak in the two Jacuzzis and swim in the Olympic-size pool, all fed by the hot springs. This resort is open all year (closed Thursdays) and also has a store, deli serving breakfast and lunch, and ice cream parlor. Pine Flat, where my cabin is, has an elevation of 3,750 ft. It is cooler in the summer than California Hot Springs proper and we do get some snow in the winter. Seven Oaks Market in Pine Flat is a few minutes away; they serve breakfast and lunch. Both markets sell groceries and other supplies but with a very limited selection, so it is best to bring your own groceries with you. Deercreek Lodge Restaurant/Bar, a bit down the road from the Hot Springs Resort, serves lunch and dinner. Deer Creek Redwood Grove is a small local sequoia grove about 4 miles from my cabin. Although I am not close to the Sequoia National Park, I’m only about 30 minutes from the "Trail of 100 Giants" which is a large grove with a well-marked nature trail where you can hike amongst the giant sequoias. I am less than an hour drive to Dome Rock, Sliding Rock, Needles Lookout, the Kern River, Kernville and Lake Isabella. (Note: Parker Pass, the road to most of these attractions, gets shut at first snow and is closed for most of the winter.) Hikespeak is a very good website for the Sequoia National Monument area in the Sierra Nevada Mountains to look up information about the various attractions.
  • This was a birthday gift and the location of this place was accurate and very peaceful especially right next to creek was like a sound bath at night. Also the prices are very reasonable and will definitely consider to stay again and hopefully able to use burning stove next time.

  • Bibi’s cabin was very quaint, quiet, and clean. She was a great host, very communicative in ensuring we were fully prepared for what to expect. She has detailed directions on how to get there and instructions for everything else to ensure your trip goes smoothly (since you don’t have cell service). I would definitely recommend staying here!

    Taylor2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a little magical mountain getaway spot. If you are looking for a cozy place to enjoy some time disconnected, this is your spot. Bibi is a great host and her cabin is nestled at the end of a road next to a creek. It’s quiet, peaceful and a perfect t place to slow down. The town itself is super small with not much to offer, but we were just looking to slow down at the end of a busy year so it was just what we were looking for!

    Sadie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and amazing host. Thanks Bibi!

    Gerardo2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Bibi’s cabin was amazing! Quiet and small. If you’re looking for a unplugged getaway this is definitely the cabin for you. I loved the oven-fireplace! It kept us nice and toasty throughout our stay! Thanks Bibi!

  • The perfect getaway! My wife and I loved this place, and look forward to coming back. It was very nice, peaceful, relaxing and the creek running in the back was the icing on the cake. Great place to disconnect, I would highly recommend!

    Brandon2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We were extrememly lucky and spent two days in the snow at Bibi's cabin; beautiful scenery from the deck, snowmen, babbling brook, and peace -everything you could ask for for a mountain get away.

Fall is here, come on up to the Mountains and Relax. We’re listed on Airbnb again in 2019 after several years of doing improvements to our home and traveling. We are excited about another great season to meet and greet arrivals from Europe and all over the US to celebrate Life, special occasions or just relax by the fire, drive up for a beautiful stay! Guests will be be shown around our home and will be greeted with a glass of CA wine to start off their adventure. A nosh is included to start your day, several other options are available close by for breakfast. We offer a nice clean home and most of the amenities you have in your own home with personality and style in our 1400 sq ft home on this historic little street. Our home is very unique, situated in California Hot Springs, CA. in the Sequoia National Monument area in the Sequoia National forest, with huge Granite Boulders and a beautiful year round Stream in the backyard. Natural Hot Springs Water is piped into our home at 125 degrees, it's rare, and we believe it's the best drinking water you have ever had, soaked or bathed in, inside or outside. Your guest suite is on a private side of our home with a beautiful bedroom with a queen size bed, a private bathroom and a room for your luggage leading out to our fabulous deck. The back deck of this wooded escape is equipped with nice patio furniture and a beautiful fire table, a great place to barbecue, relax, soak and have a cocktail while watching the wildlife, and the year round stream below. I've done some updating this year; the deck overlooking Deer Creek now has a very comfortable outdoor patio feel with new furniture, lights, a beautiful glass fire table and best of all, 2 Claw Foot Slipper tubs that are beautiful, comfortable and ready to use anytime with our Natural Hot Springs Water. One home close by but privacy for our soaking tubs. Another addition to this house are new Leather Sofa's and a beautiful wooden curved Bar in the house that makes you feel like you're sitting in the Treetops, while the sights and sounds of the stream flow in from the grand windows. We have central air and heat when needed for a comfortable stay and a wood burning stove in the bar/family room and offer a cozy fire in the Living Room Fireplace for enjoyment, depending on the weather. There is a door from our living room that closes off your Suite, so we all have our own privacy when desired. We provide fresh towels and linens for our guests. Our Parlor Grand Piano is available to guests that already know how to play. It is so nice to hear the sound from the waterfalls in our home all year round, giving a relaxing tree house feel. Please note; due to a recent Airbnb policy my recent reviews are not seen by date, instead they are listed by Country, please review. The county now requires me to add a 10% OCCUPANCY TAX that needs to be paid upon arrival to me, Airbnb does not take out this tax in this County. In the winter months make sure you check to make sure Parker Pass/Western Divide Highway is open to get to the Giants, Dome Rock and Ponderosa. All wheel drive vehicles or chains may be necessary in that higher elevation due to Snow. Hot springs Resort is open all year long except on their personal vacations, you can call them for that information or go to their website.
Our home is situated in a very quiet street 4 minutes walking distance to the newly remodeled "California Hot Springs Resort" open all year, which has a Olympic size pool and 2 big Jacuzzi's full of Natural Hot Springs Water, directly out of the Mountain. The Resort is closed on Thursdays. Sites and Hiking is nearby; Dome Rock for a once in a lifetime view of sunsets and sunrises, Sliding Rock is a natural water slide, Needles Lookout, and the Trail of 100 Giants are some of the tallest Trees in the world, a grove of Giant Sequoia Trees, a must see, all approx 30-45 minutes away. The Ponderosa area is known for it's beautiful Meadows, trails and world class rock climbing as well. We are 1 hour away from a small town on the other side of the mountain with great white water rafting, tubing and fishing, its an adorable town built on the Kern River with a variety of antique and specialty shops. Restaurants include a brewery, pizza parlor and great steak houses. Mountain Biking is allowed on all the trails in the Sequoia National Monument area as are off road vehicles, haul them up, unload and your off for a full day of adventure. I have a Guide book at the house with maps and local information and attractions available to my guests. There is an original Stagecoach Stop on your way up in Fountain Springs. This is going to be a Steak House very soon, you will pass it on your way to our home, it’s being renovated as a great Old Saloon Steak House! The Restaurant named the "Deer Creek Lodge" is going to open again for dining including home cooked meals all day, please check on the date. There is another adorable Mountain Store for necessities about 4 miles up the hill in Pine Flat "Seven Oaks Market and Grill" serves a great breakfast and Lunch inside or outside on their deck and usually has a very good selection of the little extra touches you need to carry out your meal plans including Beer and Wine. I recommend bringing your favorite food to BBQ or cook in the kitchen, so you always have food in case you get hungry during non-business hours, or just in case you want to sit back and relax with nature on the back deck and watch the wildlife, which I recommend in this very romantic setting. Mountain Biking is allowed on all the trails in the Sequoia National Monument area as are off road vehicles, haul them up, unload and your off for a full day of adventure. I have a Guide book at the house with maps and local information and attractions available to my guests.
  • Mindy’s place is a hidden paradise and winter getaway. You can soak in the hot mineral water or sit by the fire with the sound of the stream rushing by. The view of the stars from the tubs was also quite lovely. Mindy and her partner Mark were gracious hosts - doesn’t hurt that Mark is a professional jazz guitarist and serenaded us while we ate our breakfast on the deck. Mindy was very helpful in clue-ing us in about where to go, what to see, and where to eat. Otherwise, lounging by stream or on the deck was our favorite part. Also shout out to Kisha, the sweet pup!

  • This place is very nice and a great treat to me. And Melinda was so kind and caring like family... I expect to see you again soon!!!

  • WOW, what else can I say. The most amazing place to spend some get away time. MIndy was the best of the best. Took care of us like we had known her forever. Lovely home and the furnishing made it so comfortable. From the moment we met till when we departed Mindy made sure that we had everything we needed. She anticipated and provided top notch hospitality. Can't wait to get back and stay again. You won't find a better place to stay. The natural hot water and having tubs on the private deck available day or night is way beyond any 5 star hotel.

    Baxter2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Mindy’s place was a magical place. It was so beautiful, serene and peaceful. We loved staying at her place, disconnected from the busy world. We enjoyed the hot tub on her patio, the BBQ and the nature surrounding her house. Mindy was so sweet and kind. We enjoyed her company and loved chatting with her by the fire. I would recommend this place to anyone! We will be back:)

    Erika2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend to stay with Melinda! It's a beautiful place at the creek. She's the best host you can imagine. Lovely, helpful, fun and honest. You have your own space, you can hang in the hot spring water bathtub or put your feet into the creek water. It's super clean and cosy. I slept like a baby. The place is perfect to discover the Giant Trees, Water Falls and other hikes. Melinda gives you great directions. You can't get lost. She has your back. I was traveling alone and felt very comforted - it felt like family. Don't miss this magical experience! I will come back for sure!

    Kirsten2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Melinda was the most heart warming, welcoming, amazing, thoughtful and fun host ever. We had a great time at her beautiful and cozy home and backyard - the view/ the hot tub was magical. I would not spent this long weekend any where else. We will be back to visit!

    Natalie2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, this place is nothing short of amazing. From the moment we set foot in Melinda’s home it was pure hospitality and the most peaceful experience I’ve had in a long time. Melinda greeted us with a glass of wine and showed us her gorgeous home which had the most beautiful creek and waterfall right in her backyard. I just couldn’t get enough of how serene it was staying here and I honestly didn’t want to leave. We spent two days here and enjoyed the beautiful setting while relaxing in her clawfoot tubs, sipping wine and listening to the sound of the creek, it was truly magical. The next day we woke up and made delicious lattes with her espresso machine and sat by the creek, taking in the view and planning out our day. Melinda offered great advice on what sights to see which were all a close enough distance from her home. We did so much in just one day, visiting 100 Giants, Dome Rock, The Stag Tree and an incredible swimming hole. I haven’t had this much fun in so long, and for a weekend getaway it can’t be beat. Melinda was truly wonderful and I feel like I made a new friend on this stay. She is very accommodating and her home is so inviting and unique!! I recommend staying here 110% and I just can’t wait to return for another visit. You will not be disappointed with your stay. Thank you Mindy for a memorable weekend! ♥️

    Jason2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at Melinda's for two nights at Melinda's . Shes very friendly and will make you feel very welcome into her beautiful home. There's the hot springs running threw her backyard. It's nice going to sleep hearing the river and waking up to it. Melinda will give you the information you need to get around places near the hot springs which help us alot. I'd recommend melindas to anyone going to the hotsprings or Sequoias.

We are proud to share our beautiful cabin located near the world famous Sequoia National Forest with all amenities included. With excellent hotspring’s therapeutic water coming straight into your bathtubs, a creek that’s right down the steps, and 3 beautiful decks surrounded by trees, perfect for relaxing and entertaining, this is a cabin you’ll want to come back again. 100 Giant Trees Park is only 20 miles and Sequoia National Park is 78 miles away. Long term stays are discounted, let us know.
It is well known historically for it's therapeutic hotsprings water (120 F) that comes right into this house. Why spend extra to go to a hotsprings resort when you can relax in the comfort and privacy of your cabin. This hotspring water has excellent properties for therapeutic treatment of arthritis and other maladies, and is also great for drinking (pH 9.3).
The cabin is relatively isolated, so its quiet and peaceful, and you won't meet many people on the property.
  • Really great cabin stocked with everything you could need!

  • Peter’s cabin was AMAZING! I planned a special weekend for my girlfriend and everything was perfect. The setting was so beautiful and the space was really fun. Everything you need for a relaxing weekend is there. We will definitely be back!

  • This cabin has really good insulation, no draft on my head at night. Kitchen is very well stocked with all the condiments and spices, there are coffee and hot coco, oatmeal and teas. Lots of plates and cups! His house has a good and homey energy to it, the hot spring water in the bath tub is super cool and convenient. Thank you Peter!!

  • Beautiful place, relaxing environment! We had an amazing time!

    Ingie2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • You won't be disappointed. Property has everything you need! Fully stocked kitchen! Fully stocked restrooms! Entertainment? Got it. Satellite tv. Wifi access. Gas grill. Relaxing scenes. Sweet sounds of running water and nature. Peter was quick to respond with any issues or concerns. Check in and check out was easy. We actually forgot a bag there and Peter allowed us back in to grab it! So awesome! Most caring and awesome person! We definitely want to return to property. Neighbors were nice, Mindy. Store/pool down the street were so sweet to us especially 10 lost doods. Haha

    Steev2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • We've spent a really good time at Peter's house. It will be a great choice for a large group. The beds are comfortable and we loved the family room to play games. Although Peter has provided ants trap in many places, there are still some ants spotted in the house.. Overall, it's a great experience.

    Xintong2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful stay-cation cabin along a creek! Peter had plenty of kitchen appliances, utensils, and tools to make a large dinner. There were plenty of towels, paper towels, and toilet paper there; along with some soap (some from other renters I believe). The master bedroom had a creekside view and you can wake up to the sound of the water trickling. Peter gave us directions ahead of time, and you let yourself in with the keys from the lockbox. The front doors were a bit difficult to get into but with a bit of jiggling, we got inside. Peter called us when we arrived to make sure there weren't any issues.

  • This a very special place. This smallll town of 150 ppl are Incredibly nice. I didn’t pass one person who didn’t wave or wish me a great day. The thing that was most special for me was the pine forest less than a mile away that you can explore. I went everyday to explore and sit with nature. The property itself was clean and had all the basics, we even Watched 2 dvds that were left for us. Mark was fast to answer questions too.

    Amanda2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Mark was very attentive and cared for our needs. His place was cool and we enjoyed our stay. It is great if you’re looking for somewhere private, however it is a bit far from towns. Overall we would definitely come back again!

  • Mark’s place was Awesome!! What you see is what you get! Nice big remodeled space. The host is very attentive to any questions or concerns. We took our dogs and had a blast! The space is big and open for all your forest getaway needs.

This is not Sequoia National Park, it is in Sequoia National Forest. Sequoia National Park is about a 2-hour drive north to the Ash Mt. Entrance near Three Rivers, Ca. Unlike most rentals, you are not in a subdivision surrounded by other cabins and people. The rental house was our second home on our 62-acre private horse ranch. This was our parents home and is about a ¼ mile apart from our home. Our ranch and the surrounding Sequoia National Forest is a relaxed place to get away from crowds and in tune with nature on the trails on the ranch and the surrounding National Forest. Or just relax and enjoy the great views, watching wildlife and the horses or stargaze from the from the large front porch or the back deck without being surrounded by other homes and visitors. If you have not seen the night sky away from the city, you will be amazed. Then again you may just want to cozy up to the fire with a book or picture puzzle. We do have basic Satellite Direct TV, Satellite Internet and phone with some VCR’s & DVD’s, cards, games and puzzles. Be aware Satellite TV, Internet and phone service often go down during snow storms due to the dish being covered with snow. There may be ranch, forestry and property maintenance activities and noise occurring during the day in the forest or on the property. You are allowed access to the ranch property but once you leave the yard surrounding the rental house you are on an active ranch in the forest were there are inherent hazards of barbwire fences, new and used materials, implements, equipment, livestock, wildlife and all the normal forest hazards that can hurt you if utilized or handled incorrectly. These really attract kids to play with. This is no problem if you leave stuff alone, use common sense and always keep close watch on your children. While it is a wonderful place for chilldren, do not come here and plan to turn kids lose on the property without constant mindful supervision. There is a small mountain cabin subdivision called Poso Park and 2 church camps about ½- ¾ mile away. Sequoia National Forest: The National Forest land surrounding the ranch is public land with no entrance station or fee and all areas open to exploring, hunting, fishing (in season designated by CDFW), hiking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing with vehicles, green sticker dirt bikes and Mt. Bikes allowed on its many designated routes. Discover the vegetation and wildlife of the forest and meeting our horses. Poso Ck runs by the property and it is great to explore and for kids to wade in. You may enjoy the challenge of fishing for native trout. We have unique and fun sights with incredible views. There are 2 historic Forest Service Lookout Towers, Tobias & Baker Pt. Other unique sites that take some exploring to find are; Tobias creek Indian camp site with several very large grinding holes carved in the rocks and Deep Ck. Cave. Be advised many forest roads are gated and closed to vehicle traffic in winter to protect the roads. Sequoia Forest information and maps can be found at there website or Offices in Porterville, Kernville or Springville. Giant Sequoias: Our area of the Sequoia National Monument, which is within Sequoia National Forest and again this is not the National Park. does have some widely scattered Ancient Giant Sequoia groves. We do have young Sequoias growing on our property, and in the area. The four closest groves of Ancient Giant Sequoias near us are, and in order of distance, Deer Ck. Grove, Starvation Grove, Packsaddle Grove, and “Trail of Hundred Giants”. These Giant Sequoias are only 4-5 airmiles away but do take 1 to 1 ¾-hours to drive to and all but the “Trail of 100 Giants” then require hiking about a mile. The "Trail of Hundred Giants" is where President Bush came to declare our area within the Sequoia Forest as the Sequoia Monument. The “Trail of 100 Giants” is easily accessible in the summer and fall on paved roads with a paved nature trail guiding you through the grove. There are 5 routes to Trail of 100 Giants from the ranch, ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 hours. These allow for scenic loops of travel, with many sights and small communities along the way. Deer Ck. Grove, Packsaddle Grove, & Starvation Grove are the closest, 4-5 air miles away. These Groves are secluded and require hiking to access. The only grove accessible in winter is Deer Ck grove which requires a 4-mile hike in the winter past the winter road closure gate on Deer Creek Mill road. Sequoia National Park, north of Three Rivers or Mt. Home State Forest, north of Springville, do have a greater concentration of Giant Sequoias. Sequoia National Park and its groves are very crowded and teeming with tourists. The opposite is true of our area, at “Trail of 100 Giants” you may see a few tourists while at our other Groves you will probably see no one. Beware, Fuel is far between. Depending on travel routes, the closest fuel is at Bakersfield, Ducor, Kern Valley, and Porterville. Do not go past any of these on your way back up here without topping off. Trails and Roads: You may roam the short hiking or horseback trails on the ranch and enjoy wildflowers, wildlife and visit with the horses. Poso Ck. is about .5 mile away. You can hike or drive to it from the ranch and explore for miles the small wading/fishing pools and several small water falls. USFS designated trails can be accessed by driving or hiking from the ranch. The closest ones are the Bull Run Trail & the Marshall Mdw Trail. Bull Run Trail travels from Poso Ck. up to Bull Run Pass near Tobias and on over the top to Tyler Mdw total of about 5 miles with some fairly steep grades. At Tyler Mdw it intersects roads and other trails. The Marshall Mdw Trail starts where Von Helm Ck. crosses Sandy Ck. Fire Road and continues to Portuguese Pass, then Intersects roads and trails there, again for a total of about 5 miles. The Marshall Mdw trail has some fairly long steep pitches. There are some popular rock-climbing rocks on the Marshall Mdw Trail shortly after the beginning of the trail near Sandy Ck. Fire Road and Von Helm Ck. You can make a one-way trip by parking cars at several different trail road intersects along either trail or you can make loops of varying length by using connector roads and trails. For safety and better enjoyment while hiking these trails, bring & wear good Hiking boots to guard against injuries, burrs, snakes and rocks. If hiking more than an hour from the ranch a back pack, butt pack or web gear with water, map, granola bar, knife, first aid, bug spray and pepper spray is a great idea. The Sandy Ck. Fire road and several other USFS logging roads and fire roads in the area make great ways to explore the forest in high clearance vehicles or approved dirt bikes. All are great hiking/Mt. Biking and equestrian trails and none will be crowded. Consult the current USFS Sequoia National Forest Map for designated routes and use restrictions before planning trips with vehicles, motorcycles or bikes. Due to livestock on our ranch, we restrict trail use on our ranch to hiking or horseback only! You may bring and ride motorcycles or bikes on the ranch driveway to travel in and out. We can set up panels for a private corral for your horses. You must let us know in advance if you wish to bring horses so we can set up the corral. Make sure your horses are experienced on mountain trails, horses who have never been ridden in the forest, on rugged, rocky and steep trails with wildlife and creek crossings can easily spook or bolt being dangerous to you and others around. Most of these forest roads are closed to vehicle use in the winter. The Sequoia Forest posts information on sites and regulated use on its web site. Maps for the area and designated use may be obtained at Forest Service Offices or at the Sequoia National Forest web site. River Rafting, The Kern River offers outstanding white water rafting in spring and early summer. The length of the rafting season varies each year. Rafting CO. in Kernville are about 1 hour away, reservations recommended. Closest stores, Cafés and Bars: (2 ea.) are small with limited inventory and 10.5 miles away. With NO GAS. Top off before leaving last town. Wildlife: There is lots of wildlife in the area many birds, squirrels, quail, deer, racoons, bob cats, racoon, foxes and coyotes in that order. But we do occasionally see wildlife that can be dangerous such as Black Bears, Mt. Lions, Rattlesnakes and Wild Pigs. While these could be dangerous, here they are very reclusive and seldom seen. In our area this wildlife does not see humans very often and most have not lost their inherent fear of man. But you should always be vigilant while hiking in the forests, pepper spray can be a good deterrent for all predictors. The most common wildlife issue is mosquitoes, yellow jackets and ticks. These are not very bad but always wear DEET insect repellant while in the woods. Citronella candles and repellant for outside eating protection is a good idea. If you have an allergy to insects be sure to bring your EpiPen. Fishing: Fish can be caught in Poso Ck., Peel Mill Ck. and Tobias Ck. from the last weekend in April to Nov.15. These are small stealthy natives; we use a light wt. fly or ultralight spinning rod with barbless hook, so we can through back the ones too small to eat. It’s fun, but do not count on a major fish fry unless you travel and hour or so to some of the larger water ways or lakes. The Kern River and Lake Isabella is about an hour or so away. These both year around fishing and planted trout. The Kern River also has a special regulation area for barbless fly fishing for the Kern River Rainbow, a fish related to the Golden Trout and only found there. Hunting: The National Forest land around the ranch is open for hunting. This area is Deer Hunting Zone D-8, there are also seasons for Gray Squirrels, Valley Quail, Mtn. Quail, and Bear. Hunting is difficult due to the amount of cover provided by the thick forest. Guest are not allowed to hunt on our ranch, but we do hunt year around on the ranch for pests and game in season. Target shooting: You must contact us before renting for advanced permission and further rules from Pat or Carrie. We have a short-range target shooting area and limit hours to 9am-4pm. Equestrian activities: Horses can be brought to the property for an extra fee. They can be free ranged in 5-acre area or panel pens can be set. You must contact us before renting for advanced permission. Horse back riding in the area is unlimited with miles of trails or off trail riding. You should only bring horses used to mountain trail riding that are familiar with creek crossings and wildlife. The area hosts rodeos at the Greenhorn Mountain Veterans Assn. community rodeo grounds and hall. A PRCA rodeo in June and others occasionally such as Ranch Rodeos and Junior Rodeos. The GMVA also hosts other activities such as dinners and concerts through the year. Check their web site for activities glennvillerodeo.org. Winter sports: include X/Country skiing, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, downhill skiing (Shirley Mdw) and sledding. To X/Country Ski and snowmobile you normally have to drive to higher elevations to have enough snow. The USFS has a snow park a few miles away and some roads designated for skiing or snowmobiling with a Yurt warming hut in the high country above us. When snow levels are forecasted to 4000 ft or below, we get enough snow to ski and sled on the property and Sandy Ck. Fire Road. Downhill Skiing is at Shirley Mdw, when it’s open, is about 40 minutes away. Always check for conditions as they change rapidly there. Alta Sierra Ski & Snow Play area web site altasierra.com. Climate: We get all 4 beautiful seasons but no extremes. Temperatures; lows at night in winter are often down into the 20's, but on occasion in December and January has gone down to 10 degrees F. Summers and fall nights are cool and usually in the 40’s to low 60's. Daytime temperatures in winter are usually 30's - 60's with 70-80's in summer with an occasional 90. In summer thunderstorms with rain and lightning happen occasionally but can develop quickly so come prepared year around for cool wet weather. As with all the forests of the California, the area has very high wildfire danger in the summer so extreme caution must be used with any activity that could produce heat or sparks. Do not park or drive a vehicle wear exhaust pipes could contact dry grass. Firework of any kind are illegal to possess or use in the area. Any time you are in the forests always pay attention to any reported fire activity and follow any directives for fire safety. Weather forecast: Always check the National Weather Service Weather, this is the forecast for our ranch At weather.gov. TV weather best for our area is the local news on Channel 23 or 29 out of Bakersfield Ca. Winter: Snow in the Southern Sierra Nevada Mountains where we are does not happen as frequently as it does north of Sequoia. We are almost 5000 foot in elevation and we may get snows anytime from Oct-May. While very infrequent, we have had snow on Memorial Day more than once. Some years during the winter we only get a few storms of 6 inches while others may drop 2+ feet in a day. Average years snows occur off and on Nov-April with snow fall of 6"-1'. Always carry chains from Oct-May. The county only plows the county roads once a day and it takes them until about noon or latter to get here. The driveway to the house goes down a hill and it requires chains or 4x if snow covered. Snow of 6"+ require 2X vehicles to park on hill above the house, due to high centering and the steep slope, and 4X often needs chains. Snows of a foot or more often require 4X to chain up all 4 tires or to park on the hill above house. Snows or 2 foot plus require all vehicles to park above the house due to high centering and steep slope. You are also going to have to wait for the snow plow to plow the county road before leaving the area. Forest roads are not plowed and usually gated. Spring: The spring generally starts in April and usually continues into June. The green up with wild flowers are especially beautiful on the drive up, in the area and on the property. Expect most forest roads and access to Groves to be closed until Memorial Day and possibly some into June. You may still have wet and muddy conditions on roads and trails on the ranch and surrounding area. Use extra caution around all waters, Creeks and the Kern River will be running high, cold and may be murky. Pat was raised here and Pat and Carrie have lived in their house on the ranch for over 30 years. Both Pat and Carrie started our careers with the USFS and retired from Kern County Fire Department. Carrie also is the Coldwell Banker realtor for the area. If you have any questions about the area, we can help you.
Very rural and low key area in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and forests of California. Scattered Ranch homes, and clusters of subdivisions of Mountain Cabins surrounded by Sequoia National Forest. The closest homes to the rental are 1/4 mile away. There are two church camps for youth, one is on Camp Drive and about 1/2 mile from us and the other is 2 miles away. No commercial operations in the community of Posey. The closest actual town is Glennville, 11 miles mountain road or 15-20 minutes one way. Glennville has two small stores, Hwy 155 Market and Mountain Market, to buy a limited basic supplies, a church, a grade school, a fire station and a rodeo grounds, NO GAS. It also has two eateries consisting of; Saddle Sore Saloon a small bar/café with juke box, pool table in Glennville. The other is a Cedar Creek Pizza restaurant & small bar on Hwy 155 at Granite Rd intersection just outside of Glennville heading towards Bakersfield.
  • Carrie and Patrick were wonderful hosts. The location was exactly what we were hoping for, beautiful landscapes and relatively secluded. Already thinking about our next visit. Thanks again guys!

Quaint cabin house in California Hot Springs. Hiking, biking or relax in the mountains away from busy life. The cabin offers 2 bedrooms, pull out bed in the couch, living room with TV, kitchen and large deck area overlooking a beautiful fresh water creek. If you are looking for an off the grid getaway this is the place for you. Short minute drive to the California Hot Springs pool. The trail of 100 Giants is open in the summer months. There is a grocery store and will cook food to order.
The cabin is surrounded by pine trees and some redwoods. It is a small mountain community with a creek that runs next to the property. There are water falls a couple of miles up the creek if you are into hiking. Remember you are in the woods and there are wild animals in the area.
  • This is a small rustic but very cozy and comfortable cabin in a nice and very friendly community. The property is nice with large trees and a pretty creek and we spent time around a small fire outside and a small fire inside. We took a 3-mile one way walk up a closed road from the cabin that was beautiful and very peaceful since the main roads into the mountains were closed in February. Bedrooms are small but beds were great. Be prepared to fix your own meals as dining options and grocery shopping options are limited. Very enjoyable getaway.

Mary is a wonderful host who went out of her way to help us when we had some car trouble. We spent quite a bit of time at the local market and every person we met in the area was kind a caring. I highly recommend renting from Mary and I will definitely be back in the future!

Visit our charming cottage in the Sequoia National Forest. The cottage is close to a sprawling meadow with access to gentle country roads. Enjoy easy hiking and evening walks. Please remember your swimming suit and enjoy the olympic sized pool located at the California Hot Springs Resort. Get away from the constant obligations of todays’ demanding world of technology. We are 3 hours from Los Angeles, 1.5 hours from Bakersfield and 4 hours from the Bay area.
Pamela and I have decided to offer our lightly used cottage to guests as of the spring of 2020. Our home is a refuge from everyday distractions, a place to unwind and a 'green' place to be: emotionally, physically and spiritually. Cottage of Green was built from a Canadian cottage blueprint. It is 1200 square feet and was built in 2007 by a talented local contractor to ensure a sunlit space with a radiant and peaceful atmosphere. Our home has clean lines, an airy feel with high ceilings, two bedrooms, two baths, a queen bedroom loft, and young Sequoias, Coastal Redwoods, Cedar and Oak trees on the property, and of course it’s green! Our cottage has ample room, but sits on a small footprint in the Sequoia National Forest. The cottage is on a country road that is peaceful, perfect for morning runs, and quiet mountain walks in the evening. We have a pellet stove which is more environmentally friendly than a fireplace or wood stove (we will provide instruction). There are board games including Chess, Monopoly and a full sized old school Nok - Hockey board ! The California Hot Springs resort is 4 miles from our cottage, offering a swim in an olympic sized pool filled with natural hot springs water, a restaurant, ice cream parlor, darts, pool table and a small general store. If you are so inclined, and in a reflective piece of mind please visit the Vedanta Spiritual and Holistic Retreat for yoga, healing practices, and meditation instruction. Our upstairs bedroom has an excellent sounding electric piano for you piano players ! Treat the instrument with care and respect as it is of professional quality. No food or drink near the keys, just your fingers ! To complete the feel of tranquility, there is no cell reception, internet or Wi-Fi at our cottage. We do have a land line for local calls. This tranquility allows you time for walks and hikes in nature, swims and exploring. In addition, there is a general store in the community, Seven Oaks Market. They serve breakfast and lunch. If you are looking for organics, stop at Lassen’s Natural Foods in Bakersfield before coming up the mountain.
Quiet, mountain community with much natural beauty, very friendly people and a much needed calmer pace. You will enjoy your time and leave reinvigorated and refreshed ! In the immediate area there is a general store/restaurant, real estate office, California Hot Springs Resort, Vedanta Spiritual and Holistic Retreat, lots of trails and hikes, quiet walks, bicycle riding trails, horses, friendly mountain people. Native animals to view include; deer, raccoon, beavers, chipmunks, squirrels, coyotes, eagles, hawks, owls, wild native turkey, turtles, frogs, salamanders, lizards and many others.

  • Will definitely be back. Great for a secluded work weekend. Pretty far drive from Sequoias (1hr 45min to Trail of 100 Giants) and note that it’s closed in March. Very cozy and plenty of kitchen supplies to cook. Very clean as well.

  • We had a great stay. Very quiet and the fireplace was great.

    Kathryn2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to have a relaxing weekend, very clean and peaceful. Although I would recommend coming to the place when it’s daylight. I arrived round night time and did find it a little hard to find, also you have no service so definitely be aware of that.

  • Matt’s house is cozy and sweet! I would definitely make sure you pack groceries beforehand. We enjoyed the hot springs (45 minute drive) and Sequoia National Park (1.5 hour drive). A very fun trip!

  • Great place to start the new year! Right next to a waterfall and a beautiful scenery of green pastures and cows on the drive up. The cabin is very cozy and we really enjoyed our stay.

  • Stacy is an extremely kind and generous host, and his place is amazing. Very well kept and quite a departure from my normal day to day in a big city

    Pedro2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Stacy's cabin, Sugarloaf it's a very small town not so far from the city (1 hour and a half from Bakersfield) and yet so secluded, peaceful and quiet. The landscapes that you can appreciate from the cabin are priceless, they just leaved us with no words to say. We went there in winter and even though the national parks were closed because of the snow, we were able to explore around and really enjoyed the adventure. If you want to scape from the city and spent some deep time with nature, definitely Stacy's place is the best decision to make.

    Guillermo2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We could not have asked for a more perfect snow trip!! Stacy was an amazing host and the cabin was more than perfect for our family! Stacy told us about an awesome sledding hill up the road and it did not disappoint! Our kids had the most amazing time and made great memories! We will definitely be back!

    Monica2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • When we decided to spend Christmas in the mountains my wife looked, looked and looked. Reading every review she could. Although Stacy only had 2 reviews they were above and beyond what we were looking for in a home and a host. Let me start by saying we were wrong! It was better than everything we expected. Stacey met us at check in and made sure we had everything we needed. The house was warm, even though it was snowing. Awaiting us was a beautiful clean home with our own Christmas tree, and a gift for our 11 year old daughter under the tree! Stacey was so thoughtful! The house had all the amenities we needed to bake, and cook a great Christmas breakfast and diner. The house was so welcoming cozy and super cute! Stacey also provided sleds and directions for us to go play in the snow. I can not recommend this place enough. If you want time to unwind get away from the “noise” and stay in a place that feels like home, this place is for you! Thank you Stacey and Jack for one of the best Christmas breaks we have ever had! The Cables!

    Daniel2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • I'll recommend this place 100% ! Stacy is the best host I've never met : we arrived in Posey during the snow storm and he came to pick us. He was every helpful all the time, and so nice. Also the house is amazing, in a peaceful small town, with beautiful views on the mountain. If you need disconnection in a cute place, you have to pick this one.

  • BEST HOST EVER! Him and his dog showed us around and really gave the best touches of advice and local suggestions for my whole family. Great location for just getting away from the hustle and bustle. Everything you could imagine for a quaint getting away with all the hominess and comforts provided. Pack well as closest store is quite a trek, but the seclusion in an immense benefit. Can't recommend enough!

  • We spent a weekend at this great rustic house nestled in nature, had a great time! The kids really enjoyed being under the same roof, hiking In Sequoia National Forest and soaking in the nearby hot springs. The house is perfect for a group of 8 with the futons fitting up to two kids. I used the little cottage which doesn’t have a bathroom, but it was not a problem at all. The cottage is cozy and bright, loved it! The kitchen is well equipped and we spent most of our evenings around the table there. We we’re all considering returning here in the future!

  • Great place for a big group. Easy access to Sequoia Giants trail.

  • located in a quiet area in the mountains. . the yard is huge but no fence if you're bringing your dogs. it seems there are a lot of dogs wandering around the neighborhood too. it's a nice home for a short trip with a lot of amenities including laundry, coffee maker, toaster, etc. it is relatively convenient to activities in the area such as trail of 100 Giants (40 mins) and lake Isabella (1.5 hr). There are only two bedrooms in the main house with two actual beds. we didn't use the guest house so I'm not sure how it feels there but there's no bathroom there. if you're visiting with several adults it may be weird to figure out sleeping arrangements. There are two full bathrooms, one connected to each bedroom in the main house. it was nice since we visited with 4 adults, but can imagine it being crammed if there are more. the kitchen is poorly insulated and very cold. the rooms and bathrooms are cold as well but space heaters provided although only 1 really worked well. there is a furnace running in the living room though. Overall very big property in a quiet area, nice for a weekend outdoors trip. Check in was easy and host is responsive. There are quite a bit of ticks outside in the yard though, beware.

Sky Mountain is a rustic mountain ranch house on 80 acres of rolling hills and meadow grassland. There are numerous oak trees and a few pine trees. On the southern boundary there is a quarter mile frontage on year round Capinero Creek. For over 35 years Sky Mountain has been a family retreat for 3 generations of my family. If you are looking for a change of pace and a quiet, private place to relax and unwind, welcome to Sky Mountain!
The house is divided into two wings. Between the two wings there is an indoor spa/hot pool and a larger cool pool. The pools are not completely automated and require some manual operation. The south wing or main part of the house has a master bedroom and a guest room, both with bathrooms. The master has a king size bed. The guest room has a queen size bed. The north wing of the house has a room with accommodations for four, a set of bunk beds, a twin bed and a pull out couch. There is an adjacent full bathroom and also a laundry room. If you want to use the pools you must be willing to check the water level and add water if necessary, add chlorine if needed, and turn on the pump motors and pool heater. It is all done with valves and switches so it is not difficult but does require following the instructions and remembering to do certain things. If you want to use the pools I will send you detailed instructions and am happy to answer questions by phone if you need guidance. Toward late fall with the approach of winter it is necessary to drain the house plumbing to prevent the freeze damage to the piping. When opening up the house there are two valves that turn on the water to the house. One is for the main south wing of the house and one for the north wing that includes the pool room, laundry room and bathroom 3. Adjacent to each main shut off valve is a drain valve that must be closed. The valves are tagged and numbered. I will send detailed instructions that include pictures on opening the main water valves and closing the drain valves. I mention the extra steps with the pools and house plumbing because for some guests that may not be something they are comfortable doing and would prefer to find other accommodations. I may be able to arrange for the housekeeper to stop by to prepare the plumbing for guests. I list the house with overnight accommodations for 8. In a pinch it could accommodate a couple of extra guests. The pull out couch in guest room three is a double so that room can accommodate 5. The master bedroom has a couch and the living room has a couch. However, You would need to bring sleeping bags or your own bedding for the couches. The house is older but well built and well insulated. The south or main wing is heated via thermostatically controlled forced air heating. It also has an air tight wood stove. The third bedroom in the north wing has a wall heater. It also has a wood stove. In the summer space heating is usually not necessary. The wood stove in the main wing of the house has a catalytic converter and thermostatically controlled blower. There are do's and don'ts for proper stove operation. I will provide instructions. The house is not air conditioned. Sky mountain is found at the end of a one lane road that meanders through the older original part of Pine Flat village. The last quarter mile is a dirt road that ends at the house. The house is secluded and private with no neighboring homes within sight. There is a telephone and internet service with Wi-Fi but no broadcast TV service or cell phone service. A flat panel HD TV with a DVD player is available if you want to watch movies that you bring with you. The internet service is a satellite based system. However bandwidth is limited. There is unlimited data at slower speeds (1-3Mbs). I have found it to be adequate for downloading webpages, email, Facebook, low resolution You Tube videos, etc. If you are used to a fiber optic cable or DSL line you may find it slow. If you want to stream HD movies on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, etc. you will encounter excessive buffering. The satellite service provider offers the option of higher speed service (25Mbs plus) but charges for it by the gigabyte. If that is of interest let me know and I will provide details. Note: The area is a wildfire high risk area. If you are staying at the house during fire season (summer and fall) campfires are not allowed. Sky Mountain is located on the western slope of the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains at an elevation of 3,750 feet. It is within the boundaries of Giant Sequoia National Monument. To the west and about 10 minutes away is the resort of California Hot Springs. A couple miles to the east by way the crow flies is the southernmost grove of Giant Sequoia redwood trees. About 30 minutes to the northeast is the Trail of 100 Giants and more giant redwood groves. Farther to the north are Mineral King, Sequoia National Park, and Kings Canyon National Park.
Pine Flat started life in the 1920's as a sawmill. When the wood business died off the lumber company sold off lots for recreational cabins. In the 30's, 40's, and 50's, before the advent of air conditioning, it was popular to head up to higher elevation in the mountains where the temperature was a little cooler than it was in the central valley. The nearby resort of California Hot Springs was a thriving destination during that time. The Hot Springs Resort is still open and provides a place where you can go for a swim in their swimming pool or soak in the spa pools fed by the hot springs. The resort is about 10 minutes from the house.
  • This place was THE COOLEST. Indoor spa and complete privacy. (Stock up on groceries) but that’s it. Can’t wait to return. The instructions are a little long but it’s just being thorough, nothing technical. You will be thankful.

You would be staying in a private cabin approx 1,000 sq ft with “three”rooms and one bathroom and living room , it has brand new flooring and a covered deck. The 2 rooms upstairs are in the loft and not private and separated by a wall for privacy. We have Atv’s & snowmobiles that can be used at an extra charge for a guided tour of things like the Indian baths or Crystal quartz mine (weather permitting)
You will have the entire cabin, plates, utensils, glasses, cooking stuff ect.
  • Jim and Karen -- and their cabin are absolute gems. The location is beautiful, the cabin is comfy and as described, but the hosts are the best part. Jim and Karen are certainly the most hospitable hosts I've had in the US. Lots of great laughs with them. The four-wheel experience is a blast as well. Planning to return :)

    Patrick2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Karen are generous and responsive hosts. The place would be very difficult to find without their help. When we had a very minor medical issue Jim gave us every thing we needed as soon as we asked. They also loaned my son some much appreciated snow pants. Be aware that this is near the top of a snowy mountain (in the winter obviously). The house is heated by a wood stove - we were fine but we are accustomed to winter camping. Also we never had functioning internet, which was kind of nice for a couple of days.

    Jared2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot, very friendly and helpful hosts. We used the cabin as a base camp for a dirt bike trip since there are so many great trails close by.

  • The cabin is very spacious and lost in the woods; exactly what you are looking for in the Sequoia Forrest. We’ve gotten great information to arrive. It was easy to communicate with Jim and Karen. Jim’s son came to welcome us and to provide us with recommandations on what to do around. I highly recommend Jim and Karen’s cabin!

  • We had an incredible experience up in Posey. It ended up snowing up there in late May so we had a bizarre and beautiful winter Memorial Day weekend. This is a great place to plan to unplug and just be in the forest. It is super secluded. The cabin was very cozy and the wood burning stove kept it nice and warm. Make sure to read the PDF directions Jim and Karen email you because your GPS and phone can’t help you past a certain point! We had the best time. Thank you both again!!!

  • We enjoyed our stay at James's cabin and would recommend it to others. It was clean and came with all the essentials. We cooked quite a bit at the cabin, and the kitchen was fully stocked with all the necessary items. The bed was very comfortable and the cabin cooled down nicely in the evening. There is a market across the street with just the basics, it has limited hours but friendly service and does have a small menu. The cabin is about a 30 minute drive to Trail of 100 Giants and a dozen other beautiful trails. We went to Dome Rock, which is about a 45/60 minute drive. The views are stunning and it's a five minute walk to the top of the rock. We also did Mule Peak Lookout. This was about a 20 minute drive from the cabin, a 90 minute round trip hike with really beautiful vistas at the top. Lastly, we drove to Freeman Grove. Its over an hour drive, but has lots of Sequoias and also beautiful views.

    Megan2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • James' cabin was the perfect getaway. It was clean, had a number of cool, classic appliances, and was fully stocked with anything we may have needed (soap, trash bags, towels, basic cooking supplies, etc.). The market across the street is home to some really kind and interesting locals who were especially helpful when we got a flat tire and needed to find out where to go on a Sunday to get it fixed. The cabin is in a remote location with no cell service, so we benefited from mapping out the trip before we got there (although it's really pretty easy to find). There are so many good spots to hike and swim within an hour of the cabin (check out the Johnsondale Bridge River Trail for the goods!), and this was the perfect place to cook and crash after a long day of tromping around. I would be more than happy to stay at James' cabin again!

    Dillon2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect getaway spot for us! The cabin was spacious and had everything we needed, and then some! It was extremely clean, the bed was very comfortable and we had fun playing some of the games that James had for guests. It was quiet and out of the way, yet there was a friendly market just across the street. We used it as a home base for The Sequoias and white water rafting in Kernville. Driving anywhere was beautiful and fun with a lot of wildlife! I hope to come back to visit again!

Recently purchased this property and started the remodel in September, Limited photo's currently but will add pictures of bedrooms soon. Cabin is spacious and has two bedrooms upstairs with a great room inbetween them that will have full and twin beds. we arejust up the road from this cabin if you need anything during your stay. Setup great for large groups
  • The cabin was great place to stay for a weekend retreat for my group of 13 friends. We were surrounded by nature and it was a really beautiful and scenic area. Our group ended up being able to find a nearby trail to hike through and had a great time exploring the surrounding areas. We were visiting in January so there was lots of snow! Would definitely recommend checking out this cabin if you have a decently sized group of people looking to do a cabin retreat!

    Davis2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very nice spot for a getaway. The cabin is basic in a good way, clean, roomy, and had all we needed. Lots of beds There are trails nearby for hiking and a terrific sledding hill a short walk from the cabin. Wood stove and outdoor fire pit were very cozy. Great for kids. Stairs to bedrooms are steep and wouldn't be good for anyone who has trouble with stairs. Hosts are super, couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating but also not intrusive. I would go back!

    Shelley2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Karen go above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect. We got lost finding the place and Jim and son looked/waited for us for over an hour in the snow! They showed us around the place and gave us tips on how to stay warm and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with what we needed to cook our food, the water was extra hot, and the beds were clean and warm. What more could you ask for? Karen is a great communicator and is there for you in a pinch. She checked in on us a few times (just the right amount) and was super flexible with our two dogs. The neighborhood is safe and friendly, mostly with other folks enjoying their cabins. One family helped us search for our dog who had gone too far out of calling distance. We came to Jim and Karen’s cabin to build a snowman, and build one (or two) we did! Our 7-year-old boy was never bored. Perfect place to enjoy a beer and the snow. 🤩

    Kristi2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is out of the way do not expect cell service or somewhere to put your garbage. Pack in Pack out. What you can expect great service. If your car stuck in 2 feet of snow people sometimes not even the host appear outbof nowhere to give you a hand. If you feel like BBQing in the middle of a blizzard. A tracked vehicle appears with a Weber and charcoal. I went out sledding with the kids and when I returned the host brought me a deliciousand fancy bottle of beer. Remember a thank you a good hand shake and can of beer are currency up there so come prepared. Cabin is heated by a wood stove and there are ample places to sleep in the attic. 5 star rating. Would go back this weekend if I could.

This is a very clean and nicely decorated property with 3 separate bedrooms and two full baths! It’s got some great views and easy to find. We are in a small development with very few neighbors so it’s very peaceful and relaxing. We also have two other properties we rent out so if you want to bring a large family we can usually make it work! Bedroom 1 has a queen bed, bedroom 2 has a full and three twins and the master has two fulls and two twins and a rollout bed
We are in the Sequoia National Forest and 20 miles or so to Trail of 100 Giants and an hour to a couple large lakes. Lots of trails to hike and we can rent ATVs if we are up the same weekend as you rent the property
Private community and the closest store is 14miles away so fill up your car with gas before heading up and grab groceries. We can point you to a couple eateries also

    Rogelio2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • SERENITY! My wife and I were seeking a much needed break from the city and wanted a place to spend quality time with our two toddlers. We got just that! The property is beautiful and somewhat secluded. Our kids loved playing all day in the snow and exploring the mountain. Jim and Karen are amazing!! Jim’s hospitality comes second to none! When we arrived he greeted us and provided essential information but that was just the beginning. They were very thoughtful, offering us snow gear for the kids and inviting us to activities but at the same time allowing us complete privacy. To top it off, Karen picked us up some groceries (NYE champagne 🍾 :)) that we forgot to bring, saving me from having to drive and wrestle with tire chains. Totally above and beyond my expectations from a host. I would definitely recommend staying at Jim and Karen’s beautiful place if you’re looking to disconnect and enjoy a peaceful getaway. We will be back in the summer to enjoy their ATV tour of the Trail of 100 Giants!

    Jayson2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Karen's place was just perfect for our stay. Only regret is not staying an extra day to enjoy it s bit longer. It was perfect for our friends although if you have couples expecting privacy there is only one room w a queen all others you'll have to share w/ others. They have bunk bed set ups where the bottom is a full and the top are twin sized. The porch was AMAZING & they offer a table in the back we just moved to set up breakfast and dinner. All necessary items to cook and eat were there. Running water worked just fine.

    Griselda2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Karen were great. We originally wanted another one of their cabins but when they found out we were a pretty big group, they suggested this place so we would have more room and we were even able to bring our old pup with us! Honestly the place is a tiny bit outdated but the important bit is that it is so comfortable. It’s so serene. We saw a few deer and a bunch of quail everywhere. The newly built deck was awesome for star gazing and watching the forest around us wake up in the morning. The kitchen and living room are moderately spacious with plenty of utensils and pots and pans to cook for 13. My only three complaints are that the driveway is a bit too steep, there's no a/c, and there also were no window screens on most windows. The driveway is so steep that it made me worry our trucks were going to slide downhill at some point and it made carrying all our stuff inside a little harder too, especially since we had my older parents with us. I understand a/c can't be available everywhere, that's honestly not too big of an issue. The problem was that since our trip was during the summer and there were 13 of us, things got very toasty and we weren't able to open windows without bugs coming in. We understand that we're in the middle of the forest and bugs are everywhere lol but maybe for future summer guests, add a few fans? We had a really great time here while disconnected from the world. We didn't have cell phone coverage but there was enough Wi-Fi for us to get directions to a little market down the road. It’s quite a trip down though so make sure you stock up on groceries and gasoline before you head up. Overall was a lovely trip and we absolutely recommend Jim and Karen, and this cabin in particular.

    Martha2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was a wonderful space for our weekend trip! Jim and Karen were incredibly accommodating. When one of our cars was low on gas, Jim provided us with gas cans, allowing us to safely make it to a gas station. The cabin is situated the mountains and is perfect for a group of friends who want to enjoy the outdoors.

We have a guest cabin in Sugarloaf above Posey Ca that sleeps 14+ people. 2 rooms have King beds and the 3rd room has 4 bunk beds with doubles on bottom and singles on top plus two futon type beds downstairs. Its at 6k ft in the Sequoia National Forrest. We have a tiny fire pit and wood is $5 bundle. please be honest in number of guest you will have. ATV's are available for rent with an added deposit and waivers signed for guided trips. Please leave cabin as found except for linens we will wash.
This was our family cabin until we purchased a bigger place across the street. It's close to places like Calif Hot Springs, trail of 100 Giants (Redwoods) White River, Tobias lookout and not to far from Kernville, Shirley Meadows Ski area, Alta Sierra, ect The cabin has a newer kitchen, new flooring and clean comfy beds, a nice deck with beautiful views of the mountains. Please don’t trust your gps in the mountains, ask for a map and driving directions from us! Please treat our place with respect and keep it clean, we don’t mind large groups but you do need to be respectful of our family cabin and neighbors who are up and full time residents
This is a very small community so please be respectful of the full timers as well as the weeekenders! Please don't party to late and keep the noise level at a respectable level. Treat others around the area how you'd want to be treated!! :)
  • Jim and Karen were very helpful and provided some of our people with extra clothing and snow accessories. The location was great as we we’re walking distance to an old ski trail where we all had fun. Getting to the actual cabin is a bit crazy when there’s snow so make sure you have a good snow car and wheels. I would definitely book again!

  • Jim, Karen, AND their entire family made our stay first and foremost, memorable, but also comfortable and relaxing. The kids had a wonderful time and didn’t complain one bit about missing out on their normal comforts of WiFi. Our stay included playing in the snow and an ATV experience we all will never forget. We cannot express enough our gratitude to Jim, Karen, AND their entire family for their hospitality and kindness. We definitely plan on coming back during the summer to visit the White River!

    Trisha2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was in an amazing location for the snow season!!! We were very warm inside with the heaters around the house but there isn’t a fireplace inside if that’s what you’re looking for. Jim was very kind and helpful and responded quickly. The WiFi was really slow and we had to frequently restart it so I wouldn’t recommend it if you have a lot of work to do that relies on WiFi connection (also no phone service). The only issue we really had was that the room with bunk beds had very squeaky beds that moved a lot and seemed a bit unstable (the squeaking anytime someone moved kept a lot of us awake at night). Would still recommend and stay again though!

  • Great place to get away from the busy-ness of life. Trail of 100 giants was very cool. Jim and Karen were great!

  • We had a great time It was beautiful!!! Perfect white Christmas. Jim worked with us on everything to meet our needs. The one thing I’d complain about is the hot tub we personally rented the cabin because it said hot tub to enjoy the cold nights and it didn’t heat up at all for 3 days. So I’d definitely either take it off saying that they have one or get it fixed and prepared for your guest way ahead of time. Other than that our stay was amazing and the host were amazing!!!

Our mountain bed-and-breakfast is adjacent to the Sequoia National Forest and your home-away-from home. What we offer: a place you can bring your children and your pets, with daycare offered for both, breakfast and dinner - all home cooked meals. There are nearby lazy rivers, rushing waterfalls, stunning views and unlimited hiking trails. For those competitive souls, we offer horseshoes and ping pong at the farm, as well as, slingshot making classes - one free slingshot per family.
    Plenty of free parking.
Most of the neighborhood is made up of vacation homes with those people coming up only occasionally. So the area is very quiet and secluded with the market about a half a mile away.

A 1960s cabin that sits at 3,560 ft (1,085 m) in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Enjoy solitude without sacrificing comfort. It takes around 70 min to the Trail of 100 Giants, but the beautiful drive is well worth it and you take a dip in the hot springs along the way. Comfortably sleeps 6 people 3 queen-sized bed). Kitchen w/ essentials, satellite WiFi & Sonos speakers for music streaming.
This cozy cabin sits at 3,560 ft (1,085 m) in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It's in a quaint little mountain town, so it's a perfect getaway for those who want to disconnect from city life. Here are some details on this gem: THE CABIN - 3 bedrooms - 1 bathroom - 1,221 square feet - 1 living room with a 32" flat screen - Audio-Technica record player w/ 2 Sonos speakers in the house (feel free to bring your own records) or you can just stream music from your phone - Internet-enabled TV w/ Amazon Fire - WiFi throughout house - I'm allergic to dogs and cats, so I don’t allow animals since I stay in the cabin quite frequently, however, I’m amenable to allowing certain hypoallergenic breeds. Feel free to message me if you have any questions - Plenty of hiking trails nearby - It occasionally sees snow, however, I keep pretty close tabs on the weather in the area (specifically at that elevation), so I'll let you know what the weather is like. It shouldn't affect your access as long as you've got chains and an all-wheel-drive vehicle THE KITCHEN - All you need to bring is your food (and drinks)! - Coconut oil/salt & pepper for cooking - Seasoning rack - 1 oven w/ a stove top - Completely stocked with cooking needs, including pots, pans, serving dishes, coffee mugs, glasses, cookie trays, colander, and more - Plenty of cooking knives - Enough forks/spoons/knives/plates for at least 4 people - Includes a french press and coffee grinder - Toaster (not a toaster oven) - Dish soap, cleaning pads, and a drying rack (no dishwasher) - Includes paper towels, oven mitts, measuring cups, and various other kitchen utensils THE BATHROOM - Soap & shampoo provided (I currently don’t have shampoo for all hair types, but I’m working on that) - Hairdryer provided...you never know - Turkish towels (I'm on the minimal end, so I don't stock washcloths). For now, I don't have a washer and dryer in the unit, so you'll have to use the drying rack. For guests staying long-term, I can arrange to have fresh towels delivered with an additional cost of $30 per delivery of towels (goes directly to my caretaker) - Toilet paper provided...just in case there were any concerns ;) - BBQ grill available upon request
