Places to stay in Clachan
A former hay loft attached to The Old Smithy B&B in Clachan a quiet rural village, 15 minutes walk from the sea. Beautifully converted into a cosy holiday cottage.
Stables Cottage has a charming atmosphere and has been carefully equipped to a high standard. Enjoy the sunshine on your own patio area overlooking our atmospheric garden. A luxury stay in this peaceful setting is not to be missed!
Clachan is a quiet, rural village set in a valley 11 miles south from Tarbert fishing village. The sea is a short 15 minute walk from Stables Cottage where lots of wildlife can be seen, including otters, seals and even the odd eagle! Close to ferries for Islay, Jura, Gigha, Colonsay & Arran. Clachan is also a stop on the Kintyre Way walk if you are feeling energetic.
  • Wonderful cottage in a nice location, comes with a beautiful garden just next to a river - refreshing. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, gave tips of some activities to do nearby and even tried to help us recover a lost phone on the bus ride over.

  • Lovely stay at Stables this week. Moreen and Kelvin were excellent hosts and the cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Thank you for having us :)

  • The stables cottage was a beautiful place to stay in a great location. The garden is fantastic, with a babbling brook and beautiful flowers. The location allowed for so many possibilities of things to do and places to see. The hosts were very helpful and attentive and we enjoyed our chats with them! We had an amazing time and would happily visit again!

    Florian2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • The place was idyllic, facilities and location were fantastic. Moreen and Kelvin were lovely and so helpful with any needs. Definitely would go back!

  • Fantastic cozy space! We took many design tips for our future home, such as the gorgeous wooden stairs, built-in shelving, sky lights, and of course the magnificent classic Scottish garden. So convenient, we made two trips to Islay on the wonderful ferry (only 15 min from the Airbnb)! Absolute perfect home-base from which to explore the picturesque Kintyre peninsula.

    Roy2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable cottage and very hospitable hosts. Ideally located to discover the Kintyre Peninsula. Maureen and her husband are very good advice and lend cards for walks in the area.

    Christophe2019-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay, lovely property and garden and good base for exploring the peninsula

A cosy, quaint character cottage in a very quiet small village. Beautiful beaches and lovely walks. An escape from the rat race. A peaceful place to unwind and relax. There is a private garden at the back with a stream/river running along the bottom. Good location for access to ferries for Islay, Gigha and Arran. Please note breakfast provided is cereals, toast, etc. not a cooked breakfast, but kitchen facilities allow for you to cook breakfast if you wish.
We are pet friendly - two dogs maximum. No extra charge.
Beautiful location on the Kintyre peninsula.
  • Great wee cottage, has everything you need and the bed is super comfy! The stream and the bottom of the garden makes it really special. It's a great base for exploring kintyre or the islands. We would definitely return, and can't wait to explore more. Ian and Linda were lovely welcoming hosts, and we would recommend the cottage to anyone visiting the area. Will definitely be back!

    Pierre2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage, great location for exploring Kintyre, so much lovely landscape & scenery; we intended making it to at least one island, but never made it in the end- no need, too much to do! Recommend the Argyll beaver & wildlife trust- very friendly, & great guided walks. What was especially nice about staying here was the great hospitality from Linda & Ian, we (including our two dogs) couldn't have felt more welcome & relaxed. Highly recommended (although hope to come back, so don;t all book at once :-) )

    Rat2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This little cottage is a really lovely place to escape to. Nice garden and log fire too. Great walk down to a wild beach looking out to the islands. Convenient for ferries to Islay, Jura and Gigha (Gigha is a good day trip), and the local petrol station has a decent shop too.

    Bob2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is interesting!! Linda is a great host and the cottage is roomy and full of character. It also has a beautiful babbling stream less than 10 metres from the back door. Clachan is very small, you need a car, if not to get there, then to get around. There is no cafe/restaurant for miles though some groceries are available at the service station nearby and the kitchen is adequately equipped. The beach is nice but it is a 20 minute walk through farmland and some rough paths to get there. But Clachan is handy to the entire Kintyre peninsula and so there is some beautiful beaches and scenery in the vicinity.

    Richard2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • A great wee retreat to come back to and a central location to explore Kintyre and the islands.

    Helen2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy cottage with spacious bedroom. In the garden you can enjoy the evening sun. In the living room you can light the wood stove, this adds extra atmosphere to the cottage.

UNFORTUNATELY DUE TO THE CURRENT CRISIS, WE ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCEPT ANY GUESTS. Delightful one bedroom cottage located in beautiful Kintyre. Spectacular scenery and perfect for tranquil walks.
  • Warm, friendly welcome, comfortable bed, quiet location,

    Colin2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • A nice spacious cottage very close to the shore. The bedroom is very cosy and has it’s own semi-fireplace. I enjoyed it staying there and would recommend that place. Note: at the moment there is no WIFI and the connection on this peninsula very bad. Nice for an internet detox or, especially for foreign guests, a black hole for the data volume.

    Patricia2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable with stunning views , ideally situated for a trip over to Isle of Gigha .

    Pat2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location. Stunning views. Clean and very comfortable. Everything we needed. A very enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.

    Daniel2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy cottage with a beautiful view on the sea and if you are lucky, some sheep :) We particularly liked the fireplace, the garden and the silence. We would come back anytime.

  • Excellent value for money and perfect base to explore the area.

    Helen2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • David’s place is spotless clean and bigger than it looks like in pictures. Kitchen is very well equiped, we had everything what we needed. Multiple heaters make it warm within minutes. Views are just amazing! It was great to wake up to the view of sea, hills and sheep, really lovely! Perfect location for visiting Islay, Gigha or Arran, close to ferries. We had great time and wished to stay longer

    Mariola2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • David is a perfect host; he even speaks a little French! The cottage is cozy and very well equipped and offers a beautiful sea-land view: grazing where sheep graze and sea in the distance. Perfect change of scenery for us Parisians! Thank you David!

The gables is a self contained holiday cottage in the village of Kilberry, Argyll.  It is in a convenient spot for exploring the surrounding area which is rich in wildlife and breathtaking scenery.  It is situated approximately 14 miles from Tarbert and 16 miles from Lochgilphead on the scenic single track B8024.  It is also conveniently situated (2 miles) for events and celebrations being held at Crear.  The Gables boasts access to it's own private beach which guests are welcome to use (this is dependant on the location of livestock. Please ask for details) Kilberry Inn is a short 10 minute walk away and the historic and interesting Kilberry Stones are a hop, skip and jump away. At The Gables you can enjoy comfortable accommodation with the added convenience of SkyQ TV, free WiFi and wireless phone charging to keep you connected (should you wish to).  This makes it an ideal base no matter the weather.  You can also enjoy your own outside patio area and free parking area with space for two cars. The double bed is comfortable with feather and down duvet and pillows to help give you a restful sleep. A double fold up bed and travel cot are available on request for extra guests (please note that the bathroom is en-suite) As The Gables is situated on a working farm we regret that pets will not usually be permitted especially around lambing and calving time.  Please get in touch if you have a specific request to bring your 4 legged friend. (Cleaning charge applies) This also means that you may hear the daily trappings of our daily work which includes the sound of tractors, quad bikes and sheepdogs which all adds to your country experience. *Due to the layout of the building unfortunately The Gables is not suitable for  wheelchair users. **Please note that due to our geographical situation we can only offer 4g mobile wifi which has a monthly limit and may not be as fast or reliable as you are used to.  This is good for surfing the net and catching up with social media but isn't suitable for streaming your favourite film or TV shows. This is a free service to our guests. Discount available for stays of 4 nights or more More information can be found at www.thegablesargyll.com
  • Super stay at The Gables. Carol was a great host with great communication. The little basket of treats and basics was a lovely surprise. The private beach is amazing with some of the best views I have experienced. If you are looking for a peaceful break I would recommend The Gables!

  • Lovely place to stay, we had a great time keeping cosy indoors, even though the storm came through! Would definitely come again!

    Jasmine2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Carol was really friendly and kind. The views are stunning and it's a very quiet and peaceful place would highly recommend ass place to get away and relax.

    Ross2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • An idyllic setting - the cottage is just next to a farmhouse and near to a private beach (wow!). The Gables is super cosy and spotlessly clean and we loved the little welcome treats. Carol was very thoughtful in regularly communicating with us to check we were ok and it was much appreciated. We spent time exploring the local beaches, Tarbet for seafood and walking in woodlands. Wonderful hosts and a wonderful house. Thank you!

    Abbie2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at The Gables for a couple of nights during a reccy of the area. We found Carol to be a delightful host, who responded quickly to any communications and was very helpful with our enquires. The Gables is a charming place to stay & very cosy. We enjoyed our chats with the local sheep and cows. The area is beautiful, with everything you could possibly imagine, mountains, beaches & woods. We would definitely recommend!

  • Super few days that we wish was longer, so quiet and peaceful, but with everything you need for a home from home. A cosy and unique place hosted by a delightful couple in Carol and Donald, (not forgetting wee Finlay) with a quality restaurant a 10 minute walk away, and beautiful countryside and views, Great as a base for exploring Kintyre, and Gigha, and the Arran ferry is only about 45 minutes away. The private beach is stunning with ciews across to Jura. Lots of lovely touches in the cottage, great bed, lovely hot shower, great cooking facilities, and satellite tv, we just loved it. Highly recommend

    Jim2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Gables. The pictures of the cottage do not quite do it justice! Carol was a very thoughtful host. Couldn’t recommend it higher!

    Edith2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for two nights and the unit is well equipped and nicely decorated inside. It's very warm, with attention to detail that makes the difference. Thank you for the welcome basket and the milk / butter and eggs, very appreciated. This is the opportunity to discover the mull of Kintyre and close to Claonaig for a crossing to Arran. The walk of a few kilometers to access the beach across fields is very pleasant.

    Laura2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Carapod was super clean and had all the amenities we needed for our stay. The view from the pod was stunning in the evening, great for sitting out having dinner. The hot tub was a real bonus and something quite unique to the stay. My partner and I loved our stay and would highly recommend to anyone wanting somewhere special.

    Michael2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca was the most inviting host and had the hot tub ready for my dip also the bed ready and made up. The CaraPod was fully equipped with everything to hand and it was my little bit of heaven for 2 nights. Even with the wild weather blowing in it did not stop my enjoyment of a beach walk meeting the friendly neighbours and dogs in this lovely part of Scotland. I would sincerely recommend this property for couples or single person as a great place to escape to.

    Fiona2019-09-12T00:00:00Z

A seaside cottage in the famous row of cottages known as The Twelve Apostles. The cottage provides all modern comforts yet still retains its charm and character. The cottage is ideal for walkers, golfers and wildlife enthusiasts. There are 3 double bedrooms upstairs and lounge with coal and log burning fire downstairs. The fully enclosed garden overlooks the Mull of Kintyre, with beautiful sunsets.
This is a unique location, very peaceful and quiet, the row of cottages were built in 1860, Deer live in the hills behind the cottage, and the seals and sheep are easy to spot, and eagle spotting is popular .....but sitting in the garden with a glass of wine in the evening and watching the spectacular sunset is incredible.
  • Cottage has 3 big bedrooms, great sized kitchen/dining room. Lovely wood burner for those colder nights, a lovely little garden with cracking views and is close to many walks, trails and historical sites. Amazing cottage, anyone staying here will feel relaxed and invigorated.

    Andrew2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • The photos of house do not say enough.....The house is very roomy, clean and well equipped. The beds were very comfy too!! The setting is simply magnificent! The front of the house gets the sun all day and the view from the garden over the Bay is simply breathtaking. My kids spent hours on the Peebled Bay throwing stones into the water....watching seals and we even saw dolphins. There was a wee red squirrel in the garden and red deer can along to the Bay one morning. Thank you Jack and Evelyn

  • Probably the best BnB I have ever stayed in, the attention to detail and hospitality are fantastic

    Liz2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Ronnie was so incredibly hospitable, we felt right at home as soon as she welcomed us into her cozy house. She had everything we could possibly need and more (snacks, toiletries, etc). She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and I highly recommend her place. She is also extremely close to the ferry, which we were able to catch very easily from her house. Highly recommend staying here!

  • Very welcoming hosts and a very nice place to stay. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Had to call a couple of times before arrival and phone answered straight away. Had no luggage as was staying due to missing ferry so toothbrush and toothpaste plus some other toiletries provided. Would definitely stay again.

  • Had a short but very nice stay. Bea was absolutely lovely, very welcoming and even gave me a lift to the bus in the morning and then reappeared with my wallet just as I got on! As for the space itself I felt very comfortable and had everything I could need. Would certainly recommend if you are in the area.

  • Bea was such a welcoming host and went out of her way to make us comfortable, especially with thoughtful touches for my five year old son. He was instantly relaxed and chatty which was great for me and testament to Bea’s warmth. The room was great, more than I had expected. Thanks Bea and all the best! Nicki

  • Super comfy beds, soft sheets and the fluffiest bathrobes! Plus a very warm welcome (along with a cuppa) from a lovely host. The house is a 5min walk from the village centre and harbour and there are lovely walks around the castle with an amazing viewpoint above Loch Fyne. Would highly recommend!

Part of the renovated Coach House. An idyllic spot, surrounded by fields and woodland. Located off the Castle driveway, it is not far from the beach, Village, Castle, Seafood Cabin or Smokehouse. The properties are newly furnished with modern interiors and double-glazing. Very convenient for the Claonaig ferry to Arran (7min drive) and Kennacraig ferry terminal (20min drive).
The Old Pumphouse is a ground floor apartment and comprises two bedrooms; king with en-suite bathroom, and twin opposite second bathroom. It has a large kitchen, sitting room and separate dining room. Both dining room and sitting room have patio doors, which open up the property, bringing the outside in when the weather permits.
Skipness is a small village on the eastern shore of the Kintyre peninsula, looking across the Kilbrannan Sound towards Arran. There are also magnificent views to Cowalside, Bute and the Ayrshire coast. It is a quiet haven, where the main activities are farming, forestry, tourism, fishing and conservation. The Village Hall holds regular Ceilidhs and dances during the year for locals and holiday-makers alike. Skipness Point marks the beginning of Loch Fyne and evidence can still be seen of the moorings where ships of long ago were once fastened. The very word Skipness, which in the ancient Nordic tongue means “Point of the Ships”, conjures up pictures of the Vikings who dominated the Highlands and Islands for so long. To secure the peace, the building of the first Skipness Castle began in the 13th century and the ruined walls and massive tower house still guard the shore. It ts one of the earliest standing castle buildings in Scotland. The ruins of the medieval Kilbrannan Chapel lie just a little further, towards The Point.

Studio is well located just few minutes from the lovely town of Tarbert. Spectacular views, even got to see deers practically below the window. Nice starter pack with milk cereal and tea and coffee, oh and cant forgot the tunnocks tea cakes! Studio is lovely laid out, cosy, has a log fire , nice sized bathroom. Would definitely recommend this place.

Quiet, peaceful location in an unspoiled area full of wildflowers, where otters, seals, basking sharks, deer, eagles and a huge variety of other birds can be seen. Great views across the Kilbrannan Sound to Arran, starry nights and beautiful sunrises make this a very special place. Handy for ferries to Islay, Arran and Cowal. A great place to get away from it all and just chill. Please note the last few miles (max 10, min 4 depends where you start) are on single track road with passing places.
The room has its own access from the garden so you have total privacy. There are no stairs but the path to the door slopes up to first floor level .
Beautiful, unspoilt and peaceful but please note: Our home is on a single track road on the east side of the Kintyre Peninsula, overlooking the Kilbrannan Sound and the Isle of Arran. There are three other houses at Crossaig and no shops, restaurants or public transport. The nearest village is Skipness which is 7 miles north of us and has a very small shop and the Seafood Cabin restaurant. Carradale which is 9 miles south of our place has a shop, hotel, restaurants and golf course. Tarbert is the largest nearby village and has a variety of shops and eateries. It is approximately 15 miles north west of us.

  • We had a wonderful stay; the location is stunning, quiet and peaceful, with a lovely view from the house and the front garden. Susan and Angus were really welcoming and helpful. The room has a private entrance (with a bathroom inside), is clean and tidy and provided with board games and books. Breakfast is good, provisions were stored in a fridge and in a cupboard inside the room, so we could have breakfast on our own. The ferry to the island of Array is 10 minutes drive away.

    Andrea2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Susan & Angus are kind approachable hosts. Their rural spot on the hillside overlooking the Isle of Arran is beautiful and quiet and restful after all the travelling we'd done. Don't limit yourself to one night here. 2. The well maintained Skipness Castle and church ruins and Smoke house are only 12km (19 min drive) away. All free and surrounded by lovely lawns and fields. Nearby is the Sea cabin restaurant which is worth a refreshment stop. The Isle of Arran ferry is 8km (11min drive) from the lodge. Campbeltown is 46min drive away with the Springbank/Longrow Distillery amongst others worth a visit. The room was clean, warm and inviting and Restfully Rural. The little fridge held all we needed for a nice continental breakfast.

    Ken2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • The room at Crossaig Lodge is the dream. It is cosy, clean and has the most beautiful views. When we arrived late one night, there were deers at the front door, we couldn’t believe it. The house is in a remote place, far from any village or store, so the fact that breakfast is included is fantastic. The host is very nice, welcoming and willing to help. We couldn’t have had a better stay!

  • We stopped here in-between Christmas and New Year and had an excellent time! The accommodation was - immaculate; a good location for visiting places and going for walks; use of a log burner that made every night cosy; and felt very much like a home away from home. Many thanks Jenni!

  • Jenni was super helpful with tips on enjoying the local area and where to eat. The flat has plenty of room for 4 adults and was lovely and warm especially with the wood burner on in the evening. We were visiting my sister who has just taken over the Anchorage restaurant and we'll definitely be recommending the flat to our friends and family when the come to stay. Thanks Jenni!

  • Centrally located a stones throw from the harbour of which their is a nice view from the living room and the Coop through which all the world passes and you can people watch to your hearts content. The house is on three levels, an entrance to store shoes , an open staircase to the first level where there is a galley kitchen, bathroom, living room with a lovely view of the harbour and the dining room where there is a surprise guest. Top floor has two bedrooms, a double iron bedstead in one room and two single beds in the other. The house is very good value and central to the small village of Tarbert. Except the small village is stuffed with services to make a trip their area. There is not one but three fish providers; several restaurants from good to first class. The Anchorage is under new owners from September 2019 and was excellent value. Try the leek and crab tart as a starter if its still on-remarkable.

The house is fairly central on the island with the main amenities less than a ten minute walk away. • The house was lovely, spacious and comfortable, with a well-equiped kitchen, a large living room, and comfortable bedrooms, and we really enjoyed our stay. As with the entire island, the house was in a very peaceful and quiet area, with lots of birdsong and virtually no traffic, and it was only a five minute walk from the house to a beautiful beach. The house was also only a couple of minutes walk from the Gigha Hotel, and less than ten minutes from the Boathouse and the ferry, and as such it felt a great base for exploring the whole island. Joe was very helpful, and everything at the house was very well organized, with plenty of local information about things to do on the island.

  • The yurt is a wonderful place to stay! I visited along with members of a hiking group that I belong to, and we really enjoyed the yurt, and the isle of Gigha. The yurt is a beautiful structure, and very cosy, spacious and well equiped, and is located in an ideal spot for exploring the island. Joe was very friendly and helpful, and helped to make our stay as easy and comfortable as possible. Gigha itself is a beautiful island, with amazing beaches, lots of wild berries and birds, and lots of peace and quiet.

  • You will sleep soundly in the magical yurt on this stunningly beautiful island. The shower and toilet is a few steps away, and the setting can't be beat. There is much to see and do on Gigha. Joe and Hannah are friendly, down-to-earth hosts. This is a wonderful accommodation. We booked in March for a stay in July and even then, there were only a few spaces left. This is one of your best options on Gigha.

    Elizabeth2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was amazing. The yurt is just behind the general store which has an amazing selection of food and everything you will need for your weekend. Joe and Hannah will accommodate any request. 2minute walk to both restaurants and pub offering first class seafood. Gigha is a hidden gem. Cannot wait to return.

  • First time staying in a yurt was much enjoyed - cosy, well set out and in a great location... Joe and Hannah were friendly and helpful - great hosts, thanks!

Fraser Cottage is a fully renovated (completed December 2018) spacious cottage with a cosy living/kitchen area downstairs and two ensuite bedrooms upstairs. We are looking to create a 'luxury home away from home' environment. It is part of the Dunmore Castle and Cottages 120 acre estate which has stunning views over West Loch Tarbert and is just 7 miles from the picturesque fishing village of Tarbert on Loch Fyne.
Fraser Cottage is a two storey cottage and has views up towards the Castle and over the fields. The kitchen and dining area leads through to a cosy living room complete with wood burning stove, 4k curved screen TV and new furniture. The two tastefully decorated bedrooms have a kingsize bed (master bedroom) and two single beds (second bedroom). The ensuite bathrooms have walk-in showers, electric towel rails and underfloor warming.
Dunmore Cottages are a perfect vacation retreat either to relax or enjoy the many outdoor activities that are available. Guests can enjoy many hiking trails and abundant wildlife, sample excellent area restaurants including the award winning Kilberry Inn 7 miles away, visit the inner Hebridean Islands of Islay and Jura, visit the historic Kilmartin Glen, take a drive alongside the famous Crinan Canal, walk the beautiful gardens on the Isle of Gigha or Brodick Castle on Arran. Tarbert has a 9 hole golf course and horseback riding and fishing are available locally.
  • We stayed in lovely Fraser Cottage as we were attending a family wedding in Crear. Philippa’s cottage is beautiful, stylish and spotlessly clean. It had just been renovated and she has a great eye for design & detail. Lovely muted tartans, all the gadgets you’d hope to find in the kitchen and a beautiful large garden outside. Fraser Cottage has two bedrooms, one double and one twin, both with en suite shower rooms. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were warm & cosy and there was plenty of towels and Arran Aromatics toiletries. The Cottage joins on to a few other cottages, but we never heard any noise from the neighbours. This would be an ideal spot for a group that wanted to stay together but still have their own space. The cottage is close to Tarbert, where we enjoyed dinner at the Anchor Hotel, and we loved the Loch Fyne oysters on the drive to the cottage. It’s a beautiful part of Scotland and Philippa made us feel very welcome. We’d happily return again.

If there are any last minute needs for your trip, the town co-op is only 5 miles down the road and you can stock up on supplies, or grab a coffee at the coffee shop down there too! Graham was a very nice host and was thorough in explaining the room amenities! Thank you Graham!

  • The perfectly cushioned bed left me well refreshed in the morning. As we've traveled in Scotland we've found most beds a bit too hard--not this one. In fact, I loved it so much my husband took the other bed in the room so I could enjoy it all. We also left the windows open enough to hear the bubbling brook and birds singing in the morning. It was lovely.

A newly renovated and dog/pet friendly two-bedroom cottage dating back to 1896 set on the idyllic Argyll Coast. The Lodge has a wealth of character and charm and provides guests with a true secluded and relaxing experience. It is situated in a peaceful setting in Kilberry in the district of Knapdale which is classed as a National Scenic Area of Scotland, due to its exceptional scenery and to ensure its protection from inappropriate development.
The property is well equipped with everything you need for your stay (if there's anything you think we could do with adding please just let us know), and also has an iron and ironing board for your use, especially useful if attending a wedding at nearby Crear. Kilberry is very remote, and for us is largely the appeal of it. It's a perfect place to come and switch off from day to day life and enjoy the peace and tranquility of it, whilst only being under a three hour drive from Glasgow. We strongly suggest coming stocked up on supplies though, as the shops in Tarbert and Lochgilphead are around a 35 minute drive on single track road. Red Squirrels are frequent visitors to the garden, and we supply peanuts for them and the birds, constantly keeping the feeders topped up throughout the year. We have also been lucky to spot Pine Martens in the woods just next to The Lodge, elusive as they are, they are definitely around. We supply essentials for your arrival such as coffee pods, tea bags, milk, and firelighters, kindling, and a basket of logs for the woodburner (with more available to buy should you require them). It is hard to come to The Lodge, and Kilberry, without falling in love with the peacefulness of it. We purchased The Lodge at the start of 2018 and have done many works/renovations to bring it up to a good and more modern standard whilst striving to retain the original features and feeling of it. We stay ourselves whenever we can, but wanted to also give others the opportunity to enjoy it too, and hope you like it as much as we do. With two (badly behaved :D) Boxer Dogs ourselves, we know how hard it can be to find accommodation which is dog/pet friendly, and were also used to places specifying things such as 'one well behaved dog by prior arrangement - extra charge £15 etc. We are pleased to allow dogs in The Lodge, with no extra charges. The rear garden is enclosed and there are great walks in and around Kilberry.
The woodland surrounding the cabin is a wonderful natural habitat for an abundance of wildlife including red squirrel, owls, roe deer, sika deer, red deer as well as buzzards and beavers. The local beaver trail around a fifty-minute drive away. The lodge is fully double glazed and is well heated with a LPG/gas tank/combi boiler, as well as a wood burning stove and is suitable for year round use. It provides a balance of luxury and comfort while maintaining the character, charm & feel of a countryside lodge in a quiet location. Whether you want a base from which to explore Argyll and the islands, simply enjoy the local area or just relax and be at one with nature The Lodge provides the perfect location with incredible views.

  • Unfortunately we did not stay with Graham for long. But the one night we liked it. The location is perfect for ferry connections. Graham is also very flexible with travel times. He talks about his guests. The house is quiet and in the countryside. At night, it is named blue illuminated. Therefore, super to find. The breakfast room is wonderful. There is a small breakfast buffet. The rooms are big and spacious. The bathroom is equipped with various extras such as cotton balls and ear buds.

    Katrin2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Super close to the Islay ferry. Less than five minutes. It's on the single track that takes you out to the Arran ferry. Graham was very friendly, offered us tips for Islay and served up a lovely breakfast. The house is sparkling clean and comfy. Rooms had a few lounge chairs so we could relax after we arrived. It was easy to find. Great food and views at the Seafood Cabin in Skipness about 15 minutes away.

The entrance goes straight into an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a microwave. There is a modern TV and wifi. Off the dining area are two bedrooms - a double and a twin - and a family bathroom. At the rear of the property is a second double room with ensuite wetroom. There is step-free access to this room via a back door.

  • Lovely location, great for dog walks and very peaceful. Owner was great at communicating- there was a water leak before we arrived but it was all sorted for when we arrived and she kept us informed. One even better if would be fix the kitchen cupboard which opens with gravity but other than that it was grand. It was a great space for 2 of us but would be cosy with 6.

  • Our stay with Karen was fantastic. A beautiful location, exquisitely decorated, with a fantastic host - we couldn't ask for much more! Breakfast was a delight, both the conversations and the food itself.

    Tom2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We found this extraordinary place because we needed a place to stay for a wedding a few miles down the road, but by the time we left we knew that we had found much more than a place to rest up from the wedding festivities. The arts and crafts house is full of charm and beauty, with fantastic views of the West Loch (especially from the double bedroom), and it has a very interesting history. But what sets this place apart is Karen's hospitality. She went above and beyond to make us feel at home and to make sure that we were comfortable throughout our stay. Our far-ranging conversations with Karen and her other guests over breakfast and late-night tea were a highlight of our vacation. Be sure to ask her about her fascinating career in the arts. Come for the breathtaking views and the perfect location; stay for the warm hospitality, interesting conversation, and fresh-baked bread. This is a special place.

  • Staying at Karen's was probably one, if not the best Airbnb experiences I have had. Her space is just gorgeous, the rooms are clean and spacious, the hospitality was welcoming and we even had the most wondrous breakfast prepared for us. The view is just stunning too. We would recommend staying at Karen's with 10/10 review. We will return!

  • A fascinating, spacious, artistic house with two beautifully furnished guest bedrooms. Karen is very personable and offered us lots of tips about the area. As a result, we found a very good local restaurant in Tarbert. Next morning we enjoyed Karen's company and conversation at the breakfast table, over homemade cereals, fruits, bread and freshly brewed coffee. Persephone, the Siamese cat, also gave us a warm welcome. It's very convenient for ferry departures to Arran, Islay etc, would definitely recommend as a unique place to stay.

  • A beautiful cottage on a stunning island. A real community feel. The Boathouse restaurant is unbelievably good, and the twin beaches are well worth the trip over a boggy field. We will be back!

  • Sarah's cottage is an ideal base to explore Gigha from. It has really comfy beds, spotless luxury towels and bed linen. Everyone in Gigha is really friendly and helpful to visitors. There are many unspoilt beaches to enjoy. The one nearest the cottage is down an easy to manage footpath, in a few minutes you are paddling in the water! The hotel is nearby & staff gave good instructions to where the cottage is. It's also near the shop for delicious Gigha milk and other supplies. Gigha has loads of brambles, book Sarah's cottage soon to enjoy! Will be back! Ruth

  • Fantastic house in an incredible location. 4 adults and 4 children had a great stay at Sarah’s house. Brilliant communication throughout with plenty of tips on how to enjoy the surroundings. Looking forward to our return!

  • We had a very comfortable stay in Sarah's Airbnb. The living room was so cosy with the stove burning, the beds are comfy and have lovely warm duvets, the kitchen was well equipped for cooking with a good hob/oven/microwave etc. The location is fantastic! Such a short walk down a little path to a beach, and of course on Gigha nothing is far away. We spent a whole day on a beautiful long beach with turquoise waters without seeing a soul! If you stay here, be sure to order some halibut and order scallops and oysters from the village shop. In general the village shop is worth a visit for the local milk/eggs/icecream and the friendly chat. Sarah was very quick to respond and always very helpful, replenishing logs for the fire. We would really recommend a stay here.
