Part of the renovated Coach House. An idyllic spot, surrounded by fields and woodland. Located off the Castle driveway, it is not far from the beach, Village, Castle, Seafood Cabin or Smokehouse. The properties are newly furnished with modern interiors and double-glazing. Very convenient for the Claonaig ferry to Arran (7min drive) and Kennacraig ferry terminal (20min drive).
The Old Pumphouse is a ground floor apartment and comprises two bedrooms; king with en-suite bathroom, and twin opposite second bathroom. It has a large kitchen, sitting room and separate dining room. Both dining room and sitting room have patio doors, which open up the property, bringing the outside in when the weather permits.
Skipness is a small village on the eastern shore of the Kintyre peninsula, looking across the Kilbrannan Sound towards Arran. There are also magnificent views to Cowalside, Bute and the Ayrshire coast. It is a quiet haven, where the main activities are farming, forestry, tourism, fishing and conservation. The Village Hall holds regular Ceilidhs and dances during the year for locals and holiday-makers alike. Skipness Point marks the beginning of Loch Fyne and evidence can still be seen of the moorings where ships of long ago were once fastened. The very word Skipness, which in the ancient Nordic tongue means “Point of the Ships”, conjures up pictures of the Vikings who dominated the Highlands and Islands for so long. To secure the peace, the building of the first Skipness Castle began in the 13th century and the ruined walls and massive tower house still guard the shore. It ts one of the earliest standing castle buildings in Scotland. The ruins of the medieval Kilbrannan Chapel lie just a little further, towards The Point.

Set in the heart of the Lochranza country side on the stunning Isle of Arran, we have a tranquil retreat, with stags and golden eagles in close proximity. Relax, unwind and take in the stunning views of the sleeping warrior mountains. There is a stunning sea view from the top of the track the sunset is quite spectacular. We are nestled within the hill side of Lochranza up a private track. there are many walks from Laggan walk further up the track or fairy dell on the sea coast.
The access track to the house is not suitable for vehicles with low ground clearance however vehicles can be left at at the bottom of the track and we offer transport on arrival and departure if necessary. On arrival guests will find a welcome pack of necessities with teas, coffee, sugar, milk, cereals and other goodies. Check in is 3pm and check out is 10am
Lochranza is famous for its whisky distillery which is a 10 min walk across the campsite opposite if its a tour you want or food the distillery can offer it with a beautiful gift shop. • Lovely comfortable, clean cabin. Very peaceful and relaxing place to stay. Lovey location and views. Road to the cabin a bit difficult to drive down, so need to be cautious tackling it. Would recommend this accommodation, we had a very pleasant stay here.

  • Great place to stay if you want peace and quiet. Scenery amazing no matter what the weather.

  • Great wee place to stay in Lochranza, ideal location for visiting the distillery

    Sarah2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Joanna's place was just the off-the-beaten-path stay we were looking for. The building is close to their home but we had plenty of privacy. Lochranza is lovely and you can walk to local distillery! We had a delicious lunch there on our first day. The kitchen was well equipped, the bathroom was clean and the bed was comfortable. We would certainly stay here again.

    Sarah2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were amazing. During our stay there was a storm which disrupted all of the ferries, meaning we were stuck here for several extra days. Joanna and Andy were really helpful in keeping us updated with the weather and ferry journeys, and making us feel as at home and comfortable as they could. The cabin itself is very warm and cosy and would definitely recommend to others. Thoughtful additions were also in the cabin upon our arrival such as milk, cereal, a small loaf of bread, butter as well as a few other ingredients which I assume have been left behind by other guests. The cabin has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay on Arran. One thing to be aware of is the severity of the driveway. We attempted it in a Corsa and it was painful. Don’t attempt to drive up unless you have a 4x4 or other high clearance car. However, they offer a very helpful service and will pick you up and drop you off at the bottom of the lane, just message them ahead of arrival to give them a chance to get down☺️ 5⭐️ Accommodation Would definitely come back again!

  • Communication with Joanna was great. I loved every bit of my stay in the cabin and Lochranza thanks to Joanna's and local people's hospitality. The view from the cabin is stunning. Will definitely recommend this place!

  • Ilse of Arran is a lovely place to visit, and the accommodation is an ideal location for exploring the island. Jo can recommend some great walks and places to visit. We did a walk round the coast line starting from the accommodation, which we would definitely recommend. Rupert my dog was made to feel as welcome as we did. Overall felt like a home from home.

    Viki2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Just back from a lovely weekend in Arran, Jo's place is cosy, warm and kitted out with everything you would need. Fantastic hospitality and a great location (on the route of some great walks). Great value too. Recommended.

A cosy, quaint character cottage in a very quiet small village. Beautiful beaches and lovely walks. An escape from the rat race. A peaceful place to unwind and relax. There is a private garden at the back with a stream/river running along the bottom. Good location for access to ferries for Islay, Gigha and Arran. Please note breakfast provided is cereals, toast, etc. not a cooked breakfast, but kitchen facilities allow for you to cook breakfast if you wish.
We are pet friendly - two dogs maximum. No extra charge.
Beautiful location on the Kintyre peninsula.
  • Great wee cottage, has everything you need and the bed is super comfy! The stream and the bottom of the garden makes it really special. It's a great base for exploring kintyre or the islands. We would definitely return, and can't wait to explore more. Ian and Linda were lovely welcoming hosts, and we would recommend the cottage to anyone visiting the area. Will definitely be back!

    Pierre2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage, great location for exploring Kintyre, so much lovely landscape & scenery; we intended making it to at least one island, but never made it in the end- no need, too much to do! Recommend the Argyll beaver & wildlife trust- very friendly, & great guided walks. What was especially nice about staying here was the great hospitality from Linda & Ian, we (including our two dogs) couldn't have felt more welcome & relaxed. Highly recommended (although hope to come back, so don;t all book at once :-) )

    Rat2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This little cottage is a really lovely place to escape to. Nice garden and log fire too. Great walk down to a wild beach looking out to the islands. Convenient for ferries to Islay, Jura and Gigha (Gigha is a good day trip), and the local petrol station has a decent shop too.

    Bob2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is interesting!! Linda is a great host and the cottage is roomy and full of character. It also has a beautiful babbling stream less than 10 metres from the back door. Clachan is very small, you need a car, if not to get there, then to get around. There is no cafe/restaurant for miles though some groceries are available at the service station nearby and the kitchen is adequately equipped. The beach is nice but it is a 20 minute walk through farmland and some rough paths to get there. But Clachan is handy to the entire Kintyre peninsula and so there is some beautiful beaches and scenery in the vicinity.

    Richard2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • A great wee retreat to come back to and a central location to explore Kintyre and the islands.

    Helen2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy cottage with spacious bedroom. In the garden you can enjoy the evening sun. In the living room you can light the wood stove, this adds extra atmosphere to the cottage.

Gorgeous two bedroomed cottage in a peaceful hamlet by a sandy beach on the Long and Winding Road (made famous by Beatles, who also sang about the Mull of Kintyre)
Grogport is an excellent all year round base for exploring the surrounding sites and beautiful landscapes of Argyll and the Kintyre peninsula which boasts hidden coves, deserted beaches, medieval castles, tiny fishing communities and gentle hills. There are ferries to Arran, Gigha, Islay and Jura all within easy touring distance. There is also a ferry service from Tarbert to the Kyles of Bute (Portavadie) and a new service between Ardrossan and Campbeltown. Tarbert is a busy little village with some superb art galleries, crafts, cafés and bars. The harbour is a safe haven for the local fishing boats and a very popular destination for yachts. In May the Scottish Yacht Series is held on Loch Fyne. Seafood Festival, (bi-annual) Viking Festival, Traditional Boat Festival in July. And Tarbert Music Festival in September are very popular. The walks in around the village are a delight and a short climb to the ivy-strewn ruins of Robert the Bruce’s 14th century castle is definitely worth it for the views Tarbert is the gateway to the Kintyre Peninsula with its stunning white sandy beaches, there is easy access to no fewer than four ferry terminals. From the village you can sail to Portavadie (spa/outdoor pool and restaurants and the Cowal Peninsula. Or head south to Claonaig for the ferry to Arran where you can climb Goatfell. Islay, famous for its whisky, can be reached by ferries leaving Kennacraig, as can Jura, and the magical island of Gigha is a short ferry crossing from Tayinloan. Kilmartin is rich in archaeology with the remains of Neolithic and early Bronze Age monuments, burial cairns and standing stones. Inveraray Jail, Kilmory Castle and a choice of beautiful gardens are also well worth a visit. Lochgilphead and Oban, the seafood capital, are a short drive north. Eating out Tarbert has a variety of local eateries on the doorstep. Restaurants offering a taste of local fish and shellfish landed daily on Tarbert quay, alongside venison from Argyll. We always make the very best of what is on our doorstep here in Argyll. With some of the best meats, seafood, whiskey and now gins available on our doorstep, it would be difficult not to sample one or more of what Argyll has to offer! If your looking for something a little more simple Tarbert also has a Fish Bar, or head to the Indian restaurant, or the excellent Cadora Cafe where both allow you to byob

  • We had a wonderful time at Jane's place. Once up the stairs and into the apartment we were rewarded with the beautiful views over the water. Jane had also provided some lovely snacks which were well received. The little extras really make this place feel like home. A great example is the 'forgotten yours' box in the bathroom. While we didn't need this, we imagine this would be very handy for many travellers. The beds were extremely comfortable. We hope we can stay again one day.

  • We spent the month of October at Jane's apartment and can't say enough good about it. The apartment is as described and very well equipped for cooking at home. The views were a constant pleasure, the location in the village couldn't have been better. Jane was an excellent host, left a little treat, explained everything thoroughly and even picked us up from the bus stop. And we loved Tarbert! Walked every afternoon, bought fish straight off the boat from Dougle for dinner, when we didn't get excellent meat from Richie the butcher. People were so friendly, everything we needed in Tarbert for a month without a car. I highly recommend Jane's apartment and the village of Tarbert.

Only wish it was a longer trip and me, brother and nephew had a fabulous stay and will certainly recommend it to any future traveller. Al

A seaside cottage in the famous row of cottages known as The Twelve Apostles. The cottage provides all modern comforts yet still retains its charm and character. The cottage is ideal for walkers, golfers and wildlife enthusiasts. There are 3 double bedrooms upstairs and lounge with coal and log burning fire downstairs. The fully enclosed garden overlooks the Mull of Kintyre, with beautiful sunsets.
This is a unique location, very peaceful and quiet, the row of cottages were built in 1860, Deer live in the hills behind the cottage, and the seals and sheep are easy to spot, and eagle spotting is popular .....but sitting in the garden with a glass of wine in the evening and watching the spectacular sunset is incredible.
  • Cottage has 3 big bedrooms, great sized kitchen/dining room. Lovely wood burner for those colder nights, a lovely little garden with cracking views and is close to many walks, trails and historical sites. Amazing cottage, anyone staying here will feel relaxed and invigorated.

  • The photos of house do not say enough.....The house is very roomy, clean and well equipped. The beds were very comfy too!! The setting is simply magnificent! The front of the house gets the sun all day and the view from the garden over the Bay is simply breathtaking. My kids spent hours on the Peebled Bay throwing stones into the water....watching seals and we even saw dolphins. There was a wee red squirrel in the garden and red deer can along to the Bay one morning. Thank you Jack and Evelyn

  • We stopped here in-between Christmas and New Year and had an excellent time! The accommodation was - immaculate; a good location for visiting places and going for walks; use of a log burner that made every night cosy; and felt very much like a home away from home. Many thanks Jenni!

    Richard2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Jenni was super helpful with tips on enjoying the local area and where to eat. The flat has plenty of room for 4 adults and was lovely and warm especially with the wood burner on in the evening. We were visiting my sister who has just taken over the Anchorage restaurant and we'll definitely be recommending the flat to our friends and family when the come to stay. Thanks Jenni!

    Ellie2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Centrally located a stones throw from the harbour of which their is a nice view from the living room and the Coop through which all the world passes and you can people watch to your hearts content. The house is on three levels, an entrance to store shoes , an open staircase to the first level where there is a galley kitchen, bathroom, living room with a lovely view of the harbour and the dining room where there is a surprise guest. Top floor has two bedrooms, a double iron bedstead in one room and two single beds in the other. The house is very good value and central to the small village of Tarbert. Except the small village is stuffed with services to make a trip their area. There is not one but three fish providers; several restaurants from good to first class. The Anchorage is under new owners from September 2019 and was excellent value. Try the leek and crab tart as a starter if its still on-remarkable.

Scottish hospitality at its best!

  • Margaret and Iain were amazing hosts! They were very welcoming towards us and did everything to make us feel at home on their farm. The room was really cozy with a small wood-stove and a comfortable bed. Their house is rather remote, but with Margarets directions it was easy to find and the place is definitely worth the journey (by the way, the water-pressure of the shower was a delight compared to British standards :D)! We spent two nights with them and had a wonderful time talking, discussing and laughing together. As they described in their profile, they do have pets at home, which are all kind, sweet and friendly (we met a lovely dog and cat). We would definitely book a stay with them again. Highly recommended!

  • Chris and Stuart were both incredible - following New Year’s celebrations, we, a family of nine adults and two children (one newborn), found ourselves stranded on Arran due to bad weather. Not only were we able to book at incredibly short notice, but Chris and Stuart also provided us with bread, milk and snacks, along with great hospitality and lots of advice on which ferry to take the next morning.

  • You don't rent a room in someone's private house. It's more like a youth hostel or an original Bed&Breakfast. The staff is warm and courteous and the breakfast is varied and you can make some sandwiches for lunch.

Look out for locally produced food too - particularly good venison produced by a man with the unlikely name of Winston Churchill is available in local shops and at his place at Clachaig near Samdbank. Art Galleries dotted about. 9 hole golf course at Kames. Set of clubs available if you wish to use. Please let me know in advance and I’ll arrange get them down from loft. Shinty: this is hockey with added violence - similar to hurly in Ireland. Popular sport in the Highlands, local team, Kyles Athletic, play on pitch off road between Kames and Tighnabruaich. And then repair to the Shinty Bar. Sailing at sailing centre on the Kames road - you can hire dinghies. If you fancy a trip in the world’s last remaining, ocean-going paddle steamer, the “SS Waverley”, it calls in at Tighnabruaich Pier every Wednesday from late June to late August at around lunchtime and goes on a short cruise to Tarbert (see later) on Loch Fyne, passing the cottage as it nears Ardlamont Point, and back returning at about 5 o’clock. Well worth a trip. See pictures for current timetable. 2. Portavadie Extraordinary redevelopment of a former white elephant 1970s oil rig construction yard. Now home to chi chi apartments, a great restaurant, a swimming pool and spa (complete with outdoor infinity pool overlooking Loch Fyne - quite possibly the only one on Loch Fyne), a marina and boatyard. Well worth a visit - very good Sunday lunch menu. 3. Beaches Fantastic beach at Ostel Bay - it is about a mile's walk from Kilbride Farm on the Millhouse road. Nice wee pop-up café at the farm. Stonier beaches nearby at the end of the farm track within walking distance. 3. Further afield Oystercatcher pub and restaurant at Otter Ferry is very good - about 10 miles north overlooking beach. Fine restaurant at Inver Cottage further on from Otter Ferry - never been but gets rave reviews. People travel miles to visit it - has rooms if you’ve overdone it. Ferry from Portavadie takes you to Tarbert, a pretty fishing village on Kintyre peninsula. Great fishmonger on the jetty to take some seafood back to cook at the end of the day. One or two semi-decent pubs and nice restaurant called the Anchorage which was very good the last time I went, admittedly in 1995, and always a buzz around the place, in summer anyway. Skipness Castle - there is the Seafood Cabin here. It is at the end of the road over from Tarbert. Cabin is some kind of tinker’s wagon parked in a garden with lots of picnic tables. It is gloriously chaotic: you will need to get used to hens clucking about at your feet as you munch away on your crab sandwich or mussels but the food is always good. And the sun always seems to shine. You can explore the castle after lunch and climb up to the vertiginous ramparts and enjoy yet more views over to Arran. But don’t look down! Isle of Gigha - this would be a 4 ferry trip - Portavadie to Tarbert, then drive 20 miles to Tayinloan and get another ferry to lovely Gigha with its beaches (head for Twin Beaches to north of Island if you can), seafood café, hotel and gardens at Achamore. You can hire bikes there - it is very flat. V. fine views to islands of Islay, famous for its whisky, and Jura and the Paps (mountains). Note last ferry is at 4:30 pm so if you miss it you will be staying overnight! Ferry goes to Islay from Kennacraig near Tarbert - worth visiting the distilleries, particularly during the Malt Whisky Festival in May of each year. But perhaps too much for a day trip, particularly if you have been doing some in-depth sampling of the “twilight wine of Scotland”, to quote the late Alistair Cooke. Hope you enjoy some of these suggestions. If you find something else that you would like to recommend to other guests, please mention it in your review. Slainte!
  • Enjoyed our stay in the beautiful cottage, it was so lovely, peaceful and a very relaxing weekend. Cottage is so cosy and very homly, we loved the log burner made the place lovely and warm. We would definetly book to go back again.

  • We really enjoyed our short break at this lovely little cottage, set in a stunning, peaceful part of the country with plenty to do nearby. The walk to Ostel Bay is well worth doing (a bit boggy in winter so wellies a good option!); gorgeous views across to Arran and we had the whole beach to ourself. There are lovely drives, walks and views around Tighnabruaich and Portavadie, and it’s equally nice just to light the fire on a dreich day and coorie in. Lack of WiFi and limited phone signal around the area actually made a welcome change and helped us totally switch off. Cottage is very well-appointed, bed very comfortable, and as we were travelling with our 11 month-old we appreciated the travel cot and high chair. Hope to be back sometime!

    Marissa2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautiful, small but perfectly formed with a wonderful array of music and DVD’s to entertain yourselves on a rainy day. It’s cosy, spotless and Donald was a gracious and attentive host. We would definitely recommend it for a couple or small family looking to see a beautiful remote part of the west coast of Scotland - you will not be disappointed.

    Grace2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Cosy stove. Perfect for exploring the secret coast. Everything has been thought of in the cottage. Hope to be back.

    Calum2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cosy cottage in a quiet location with nice views of the countryside and Arran in the distance. We found it very clean and comfortable and enjoyed the woodburner. There's limited phone reception and no wifi so it's perfect if you want a break from busy lives! We enjoyed watching the DVDs in the evening by the fire. There are lots of nice walks in the area. We went to Ostel Bay which was completely deserted so we had the beach to ourselves. We highly recommend a trip to the pub at Otter Ferry, the food was amazing! This cottage is great for a relaxing winter break and I'm sure it's fabulous in the summer when you could hire bikes and enjoy the coastline even more.

  • Smithy cottage is the most relaxing comfortable place to get away from it all . I recently spent 3 nights in Donald’s place with my partner and 19 month old . We all had a fantastic time and enjoyed the cottage immensely. Donald thinks of everything in terms of practicalities and comfort . The cottage has fantastically comfortable beds , the living room with the log stove is so cosy and homely and the kitchen is very well equipped it really is a home away from home . Travel cot and high chair supplied for wee ones , lots of DVD’s board games and a great choice of books , I want to return to finish the one I started 😂 Donald supply’s a tonne of local info and maps that make navigating the area a little easier . The local area is beautiful I highly recommend packing welly’s and visiting Ostel Bay Beach . Portavadie spa is worth a visit too and a daily pass is so cheap . Will def return to this little slice of heaven .

    Kerry2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nice cosy cottage in a lovely scenic area. Local amenities only a couple of minutes away in a car. Donald was a good, communicative host.

    Allan2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a perfect place to escape the world, you won’t go wrong with Donald’s place. The cottage was a perfect haven from some wild Scottish weather & lovely to return to, light a fire & hunker down. It was very well equipped, clean, with everything you would need for a short (or long) stay. Donald’s communication was great & always super quick. His recommendations were extensive and welcomed. We used it as a base to hike from and explore the stunning coastline from the door. Plenty of places to eat and stock up locally. Kames store is great & everyone is super friendly. We’d also recommend the pub at otter ferry, the oystercatcher!! The cottage was easy to find with Donald’s directions. Can’t thank you enough for a perfect stay Donald & we’d certainly love to return one day. Highly recommended. Cheers

Quiet, peaceful location in an unspoiled area full of wildflowers, where otters, seals, basking sharks, deer, eagles and a huge variety of other birds can be seen. Great views across the Kilbrannan Sound to Arran, starry nights and beautiful sunrises make this a very special place. Handy for ferries to Islay, Arran and Cowal. A great place to get away from it all and just chill. Please note the last few miles (max 10, min 4 depends where you start) are on single track road with passing places.
The room has its own access from the garden so you have total privacy. There are no stairs but the path to the door slopes up to first floor level .
Beautiful, unspoilt and peaceful but please note: Our home is on a single track road on the east side of the Kintyre Peninsula, overlooking the Kilbrannan Sound and the Isle of Arran. There are three other houses at Crossaig and no shops, restaurants or public transport. The nearest village is Skipness which is 7 miles north of us and has a very small shop and the Seafood Cabin restaurant. Carradale which is 9 miles south of our place has a shop, hotel, restaurants and golf course. Tarbert is the largest nearby village and has a variety of shops and eateries. It is approximately 15 miles north west of us.
  • You can expect a warm welcome from a generous host.

  • Beautiful location. Lovely hosts.

  • We had a wonderful stay; the location is stunning, quiet and peaceful, with a lovely view from the house and the front garden. Susan and Angus were really welcoming and helpful. The room has a private entrance (with a bathroom inside), is clean and tidy and provided with board games and books. Breakfast is good, provisions were stored in a fridge and in a cupboard inside the room, so we could have breakfast on our own. The ferry to the island of Array is 10 minutes drive away.

    Andrea2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Susan & Angus are kind approachable hosts. Their rural spot on the hillside overlooking the Isle of Arran is beautiful and quiet and restful after all the travelling we'd done. Don't limit yourself to one night here. 2. The well maintained Skipness Castle and church ruins and Smoke house are only 12km (19 min drive) away. All free and surrounded by lovely lawns and fields. Nearby is the Sea cabin restaurant which is worth a refreshment stop. The Isle of Arran ferry is 8km (11min drive) from the lodge. Campbeltown is 46min drive away with the Springbank/Longrow Distillery amongst others worth a visit. The room was clean, warm and inviting and Restfully Rural. The little fridge held all we needed for a nice continental breakfast.

    Ken2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • The room at Crossaig Lodge is the dream. It is cosy, clean and has the most beautiful views. When we arrived late one night, there were deers at the front door, we couldn’t believe it. The house is in a remote place, far from any village or store, so the fact that breakfast is included is fantastic. The host is very nice, welcoming and willing to help. We couldn’t have had a better stay!

It is a great place to stay if you want to explore the Islands. Arran, Gigha, Islay and Jura can all be visited in a day from Tarbert.
  • A really comfortable home from home with lots of personal touches from a freshly cut Xmas tree to extra baking tray for the Xmas dinner. Fabulous views over the harbour, cosy warm house. Perfect for holidays with a Great selection of books and games to read in front of a log burner. What a treat, loved my stay in Tarbert.

  • Amazing views from a very chilled out space. Log burner, comfy beds, great location, convenient local shop and restaurants if you do want to venture out. Lovely stroll up to castle and into the countryside beyond.

  • Really lovely place to stay. Very relaxed and easy, the perfect place to get away from everything. Make sure you walk around the bay (in both directions) and discover some of the beautiful beaches. Kathleen is a great host, very responsive and full of local tips. Make sure you visit the seafood shop by the ferry port, amazing quality and fantastic value for money.

  • Kathleen's place is amazing with a great view and great location.

    Nuri2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem of a flat which was quirky yet functional for our family of four. The entire flat was spotless and beds very comfortable. The views were absolutely stunning, and it's central locality was perfect. Very much a home from home in which we would definitely recommend to anyone looking to enjoy a relaxing stay in Tarbert.

    Nicola2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Kathleen's appartment. It is a cosy and very well decorated flat. The bed is extremely comfortable and when lying on it you have a beautiful view on the Harbour. For people wishing to sleep with the window open, it can be from time to time a bit noisy as the appartment is on the main road. We asked the question before renting the flat and Kathleen was very honest about it. And indeed, finally, it was Ok with us. Kathleen has been very nice and helpful. She explained where we could find excellent scallops, mussels, crabs and langoustines . Tarbert area is beautiful and there are many walks and visits to do. We will come back to Tarbert and will stay again at Kathleen's for sure .

Fraser Cottage is a fully renovated (completed December 2018) spacious cottage with a cosy living/kitchen area downstairs and two ensuite bedrooms upstairs. We are looking to create a 'luxury home away from home' environment. It is part of the Dunmore Castle and Cottages 120 acre estate which has stunning views over West Loch Tarbert and is just 7 miles from the picturesque fishing village of Tarbert on Loch Fyne.
Fraser Cottage is a two storey cottage and has views up towards the Castle and over the fields. The kitchen and dining area leads through to a cosy living room complete with wood burning stove, 4k curved screen TV and new furniture. The two tastefully decorated bedrooms have a kingsize bed (master bedroom) and two single beds (second bedroom). The ensuite bathrooms have walk-in showers, electric towel rails and underfloor warming.
Dunmore Cottages are a perfect vacation retreat either to relax or enjoy the many outdoor activities that are available. Guests can enjoy many hiking trails and abundant wildlife, sample excellent area restaurants including the award winning Kilberry Inn 7 miles away, visit the inner Hebridean Islands of Islay and Jura, visit the historic Kilmartin Glen, take a drive alongside the famous Crinan Canal, walk the beautiful gardens on the Isle of Gigha or Brodick Castle on Arran. Tarbert has a 9 hole golf course and horseback riding and fishing are available locally.
  • We stayed in lovely Fraser Cottage as we were attending a family wedding in Crear. Philippa’s cottage is beautiful, stylish and spotlessly clean. It had just been renovated and she has a great eye for design & detail. Lovely muted tartans, all the gadgets you’d hope to find in the kitchen and a beautiful large garden outside. Fraser Cottage has two bedrooms, one double and one twin, both with en suite shower rooms. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were warm & cosy and there was plenty of towels and Arran Aromatics toiletries. The Cottage joins on to a few other cottages, but we never heard any noise from the neighbours. This would be an ideal spot for a group that wanted to stay together but still have their own space. The cottage is close to Tarbert, where we enjoyed dinner at the Anchor Hotel, and we loved the Loch Fyne oysters on the drive to the cottage. It’s a beautiful part of Scotland and Philippa made us feel very welcome. We’d happily return again.

The location is very picturesque - beautiful harbour views from the room, and the space itself had everything we could have needed. Paul had brought flowers for the room as it was our honeymoon which was just so thoughtful! We wouldn't hesitate to stay in this wonderful family home again.

The entrance goes straight into an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a microwave. There is a modern TV and wifi. Off the dining area are two bedrooms - a double and a twin - and a family bathroom. At the rear of the property is a second double room with ensuite wetroom. There is step-free access to this room via a back door.

Clean, tidy and very comfortable the stables provides a brilliant base to explore the surrounding area or as a stop off between ferries. Prompt and informative, her communications / recommendations made the stay that more enjoyable / stress free. 5⭐️

  • Lovely location, great for dog walks and very peaceful. Owner was great at communicating- there was a water leak before we arrived but it was all sorted for when we arrived and she kept us informed. One even better if would be fix the kitchen cupboard which opens with gravity but other than that it was grand. It was a great space for 2 of us but would be cosy with 6.

The cottage has a 'quirky' design with 2 double bedrooms leading off the entrance hall and a single bedroom, which is accessed through the front double bedroom. There are a further 3 single beds in the attic space (accessed by Ramsey ladder) and a fold down Z bed. The attic bedroom is basic but children love it. The sitting room leads through to a fully equipped kitchen/dining area There are large front and back gardens areas, with seating and stunning views.
The bungalow was built in the 1930's and was our parents home. The rooms are small but comfortable and the location is simply stunning. The kitchen is fully equipped with all you will need. PLEASE NOTE: While the cottage can sleep 8 comfortably, 6 around the dining table is Ok and 8 adults are do-able, but a bit of a squeeze. The sitting room is small and comfortable for 5 adults, again 8 would have a squeeze, bringing in chairs from bedrooms and dining. There is a surcharge for parties of more than 5 at £10per adult, per night. There are 2 shower rooms.
The Isle of Arran lies off the west coat of Scotland and is one of the most beautiful and accessible. It is often called 'Scotland in miniature' with its highlands and lowlands. Lochranza is at the North end, in the highlands. It is an old herring fishing village and now a safe harbour for yachts and a variety of leisure boats. Its an ideal location for wildlife lovers, outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking peace and relaxation. Overhead, golden eagles soar, whilst red deer and red squirrels can be seen regularly. The loch is home to otters and seals that can be seen basking along the newton shore. There is plenty to see and do from gentle walks to rugged mountains and coastal routes and a 9 hole golf course 5 min walk from the house. There is a distillery offering tours. For eating out there is a choice in the village, all within walking distance. The distillery has a café, which is open for lunches but not in the evening. There is an excellent restaurant at Stags Pavilion at the golf course, which is so popular you need to book ahead. It is open from breakfast to evening and provides evening meals. The Lochranza Hotel in the village across the loch is your local ‘pub’ and also provides good lunches and evening meals. There is a beer garden to sit out in at the front, with lovely views. Further information on the area will be given on booking and available at the house.
  • This is a wonderful family house in a spectacular location. You have everything you need in the house - and if there are any queries, Nanette is very quick to respond. I would highly recommend this beautiful house.

  • You will feel the warmth and kindness of Nanette's family and it's history when staying at the cottage. It's a place clearly special to the owner which she shared with her guests.

  • House with amazing views, that look out to Loch and castle. There are plenty of walks direct from the house. Chairs and beds were very comfortable and the house is very well equipped. A path with a slope takes you up to the house but outside at the front door it is flat and there are benches for sitting out. At the back there is a large garden, where we saw red squirrels although it is steep.

  • Nanettes place on Arran at Lochranza is a great place. Her communication is outstanding with clear information being offered throughout all the stages, from booking and attending through to leaving. We hope to visit again.
