  • Jackie was the perfect host. From the time I checked in until the time I checked out. She answered every question and sent me a list of things to do. Very responsive to any and every question. The grounds are emaculate and living area was beautiful. Seeing the farm animals and pets were a major plus. The convenience of the winery locations were great. I definitely will be back in the spring/summer to enjoy the other amenities such as the pool and hot tub. Actually there were people in the hot tub this time around...lol. Pretty much a no brainier when choosing a location. It was pretty awesome. Thank you Jackie.

  • A cozy studio apartment with tasteful designs and numerous amenities tucked away on a gorgeous farm housing horses, cats, small dogs, and one noble Duke.

  • We could not have chosen a more comfortable, clean, and beautiful place to stay. The apartment was spotless, the farm was gorgeous, and the location was perfect for visiting family in Scottsville.

  • Jackie was very thoughtful, kind, and welcoming. Duke was also as friendly as advertised. I hope I get to return and see more of the farm!

A private apartment in the hills of Nelson County is located in an addition to the owner's rustic home. The property is surrounded by forest and stream with a mountain view. The Blue Ridge Mountains, the James River, Wintergreen, Infinity Downs , and Charlottesville are all within easy driving distance. A great rural location, perfect for nature lovers and birdwatchers. The owners are a resource for information on the area and can provide recommendations on attractions and activities.
Woodland Hideaway is part of an owner-built home which has expanded over the years, the apartment was converted from an one occupied by the owners' book business. The complete kitchen and bathroom with shower with tile floors are all new. The bedroom has a queen-sized bed and a small sitting area. Both the bedroom and kitchen/ dining area are climate controlled individually. The apartment is accessible by a private entrance with your own parking area. A small deck with a soapstone bench and table are at the entrance to the apartment. The owners' office and library is adjacent to the apartment.
Surrounded by thousands of acres of forest, the house sits on a hillside with a view of Willoughby Mountain. A trail leads to to acres of bottomland on Dutch Creek. Deer, turkey, bear,, and beaver are resident in the area. Dozens of birds nest on the property: hawks, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, flycatchers,, vireos, warblers.
  • My time at Woodland Hideaway was absolutely wonderful! Allen & his wife were such gracious hosts. Lots of special touches - breakfast items, fruit, coffee & teas. A warm and welcoming cozy getaway! The hiking trails available on the property were great! A beautiful creek not too far from the house w/ a bench to sit on and meditate. The quiet and stillness were just what my soul needed as I escaped the noise of the city!! I would definitely recommend this getaway spot to others and can't wait to return!

  • Modern and clean with a very comfortable mattress. The bathroom is very spacious and clean. The kitchen is nicer than my own with a large side by side fridge, gas stove and new oven and microwave. Lots of natural light and well placed artwork made this place warm and inviting. Quiet and surrounded by trees with a nearby creek. Our 18 month old was never bored! Would visit again.

  • Such a treat! Woodland Hideaway is nestled into a lovely wood full of birdsong. The hosts are gracious, responsive and concerned about their guests comfort. The space is clean and comfortable. We had a full weekend so we did not get to enjoy the space as much as we would have liked; I would have loved one more day to sit out side with my morning cup of coffee (there was coffee provided and even multiple options for brewing!) and listen to the birds. I also loved hearing a distant train at night before bed-- it was so neat! We had no problem picking up groceries on our way and finding a place for an early dinner one day. We highly recommend and wish Allen and his wife all the best!

  • Allen and Barbara are wonderful hosts! When we arrived in the dark and got lost, Allen drove out to meet us and kindly directed us to their woodland paradise. This truly is a getaway from the high energy of the city! The safety was refreshing and for the first time in a while we felt safe to keep doors unlocked and windows curtains open. Lots of wildlife to watch: deer, possums, and squirrels. Their downstairs apartment was a bookstore before an airbnb and there was plenty of informational books to read on the wildlife and birds you may spot in the woods. If you have children, you will love the educational pictures provided! We are adults and we still enjoyed the adorable descriptions of these animal's lives and how they interact with people. Also, Allen and Barbara kindly laid out some brochures on interesting attractions near their home along with their guest manual. From waterfall hikes to local vineyards, they had plenty of outdoorsy fun stuff to do while in the area! Allen's home was built by him, so while there were some groans from the wood at night, the craftsmanship blew us away! Large spacious floorplan with a lovely skylight in the bedroom made us feel right at home and very comfortable. Along with a fully functional kitchen equipped with all you need to prepare your own meals and dishes/cookware to cut down on single use plastics. Recycling was also offered, cluing us in on how environmentally friendly our hosts are and how they live as one with their beautiful forest. You can tell by a quick glance around the apartment that Allen and Barbara have a deep appreciation for art and understanding of their environment and critters they share it with. Overall, kind and gracious hosts with plenty pleasant surprises. Truly a woodland gem and perfect vacation from the city. Would book again definitely! 🦌🐿❤🌲🍂

  • we celebrated our seven year anniversary this past weekend and had the BEST time! a quick drive to restaurants/bars, and a beautiful tap house (mount idas). the cabin was PERFECT and the hot tub was so relaxing. the best part of the trip was Duke. he is jackie’s dog, and he greeted us immediately, and stayed close to the cabin all weekend. such a good boy! we will definitely be back. thank you, jackie!!!

    Christi2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is wonderful!!! The cabin is close to wineries, hikes, historic places. My husband and I very much enjoyed the hot tub! The cats and dogs are friendly and interactive which is great for us as we love animals! We plan on going back soon!!

    Catherine2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a great location! It’s a perfect getaway with lovely surroundings! Definitely will be back!

  • This is the perfect quiet country getaway! Definitely recommend stopping in for a stay at this wonderful farm cabin.

    Kelly2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic Solitude! The cabin is very clean and well maintained with some history buried within. Take some time to read the guest book, Jackie has done a terrific job of providing background on the cabin, the farm, and surrounding area. The animals are VERY friendly and Duke will quickly become your private protector. Downstairs is warmer and than upstairs. In my opinion, this is a good thing for sleeping conditions. I prefer to sleep cold but for those that don't there was a space heater provided. The hotel was absolutely amazing! It was perfect for relaxing on a nightly basis. Food: we had dinner at Amici's ( tasty Chicken Parmigiana) lunch at Tavern on the James, then dinner again in Charlottesville at Zen and Now ( Sushi spot near downtown, approx. 25 minute drive). Want a coffee? Check out Baine's Coffee. Looking forward to coming back.

    Brian2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is such a lovely little getaway spot, especially for couples. All of the animals around make it so fun and help you feel even more connected to nature. The location is close to a handful of great wineries and to town, while being nestled away. The ladder to the second level is a fun challenge that you get used to quickly!

  • Beautiful cabin, tiny but enough room for a couple and a dog. Beautiful lot. Excellent hosts, addressed a minor issue very quickly. Would definitely go again

    Andrew2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our time at the cabin. It was secluded but close to everything. Our dog loved hiking around the property. We cooked a full dinner in the space with no problem. Trew and Tony thought of every little thing to make the place so homey and the coffee, sparkling water, and cookies upon arrival were quite the treat. Would recommend to anyone and we plan to stay there again next time we head to the mountains.

Our peaceful studio has what you're looking for. The guesthouse has 2 beds, full bath, coffee station, microwave and fridge. The super cozy studio & outdoors has a humbly rustic feel. Hiking and river opportunities are 10 mins from our house. Our main house is adjacent to the guesthouse sleeps an additional 9 guests located on the same property. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/35741403?location=Schuyler%2C%20VA%2C%20United%20States&source_impression_id=p3_1564010166_CLenoW9yiNjbYP47
Our place is 100% family-friendly with attractive activities; such as kayaking and hiking, close by. The house has access to sunrise & set views, with a e.g. goats, kitties and dogs. Bring your ear plugs if farm animals bother you in the morning there are chickens just next store and the rooster enjoys talking to his hens in the mornings. This is a restful place, but nature is alive here! Our main house, The Abundant Seed Home Site; sleeps an additional 9 guests located on the same property. Our wifi is the only downfall to rural living. There is no wifi but cell services work on the premises.
There really isn't a neighborhood. We live in a rural part of the county so the amazing stars are your neighbors at night and the trees during the day. Use the local activities for your adventures and our house for restful quiet and connection!
  • Great location if you are looking to get away from it all and the host was very responsive to any questions. Although ours was a brief stay there is good hiking and wineries in the area. Would definitely visit again.

  • Cute little place in a private setting.

    Stephanie2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The guest house was amazing. Very creative setup. Makes you feel like you were in a luxury treehouse. Kim was an amazing host. I did my proposal here at a small lake they had on the property. She was very helpful with trying to make sure it was a success. Which it was thanks to her. Definitely worth every penny. You won't be disappointed. Also you're in the mountains so don't expect grocery stores and restaurants to be close. Will be returning.

    Megan2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Kim's place was so cute and amazing! It was so nice to be able to be away from it all out in the beautiful mountains. Not only was the indoor space great, the farm was so fun to walk around. I definitely recommend this place for anyone just trying to take a step back from the usual hustle and bustle of city life

    Rachel2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful stay at Kim's place. If you want to get away from a busy life this is the place to go! I could have walked around your property for days! I loved the guest house. The decorations and the loft bed made the visit very unique! The sunrise and sunset were amazing to view!

Our place is close to Scottsville, the James River, and Yogaville. You’ll love it's peacefulness, beautiful forest, and access to the Slate River. It is good for couples, solo adventurers, artists, yogis, hunters, families, groups, and furry friends (pets). Trails run through the property for wandering. Enjoy the stars, wildlife, or paddle up or down the Slate (4-5 miles to the James River at New Canton)
This little getaway is a simple and humble hide away perfect for someone looking to get away from it all in a very rural part of Virginia. The house sits on 4.5 acres of forest with access to the Slate River. House sleeps 6, but more could stay if they wanted to camp. Please note there is only 1 full size bed in the master bedroom and the other 2 bedrooms have 1 queen size foam floor mattress and 1 twin size bed. We have an air mattress and extra linens if you need to sleep more than 5. This is a no frills home where we spend weekends away to enjoy nature and the outdoors. The house is at the top of the hill with river access at the bottom. There is no cable, but there is a TV that gets a few local channels and has a Roku for Netflix watching. Please note, there is no cell service here, but we do have WiFi and a landline. However, you'll probably be outside playing in the river or viewing the stars at night while gathered around the fire.
The property lies within a beautiful rural area in Virginia. The closest town, about 20 minutes away, is Scottsville, a unique river town with a ton of character. Visit the James River Brewery for a tasty beverage or some local music, Baine's for a cozy cup of coffee, or Van Clief Nature Area for some easy hiking. Yogaville is about 30 minutes away and has great daily, weekend, and weekly programs, or just a unique place to wander around. The James River is about 4-5 miles down the Slate River and there are several access points and River Outfitters (James River Reeling and Rafting or James River Runners) if you're interested in paddling the larger James River.

Stay in downtown Scottsville. This little river town is very friendly. The house is neat and clean with all new appliances and air conditioning on a quiet side street. Come for the fun on the river tubing, kayaking and relaxing. Walk to the lake, hiking trails, the river, museum, brewery, the tavern and the restaurants. It's about 20 miles from Yogaville in Buckingham and UVA in Charlottesville and only a short drive to several wineries in the area.
It's freshly renovated with all new appliances including microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer. There's cold AC and warm gas heat with ceiling fans in all the rooms. There is a large tiled walk-in shower with dual shower heads and a bench that has endless hot water with an energy efficient Rinnai gas water heater. There's also a t.v. with local channels and other channels and movies through the Internet with Roku and a DVD player in the living room.

  • We've stayed at Brenda's house before when working in the area. It's much more comfortable than a hotel and it is SPOTLESS and so close to the lovely little town. It's a great location for afternoon walks, or evening walks for dinner at the local places. Brenda is awesome in communicating and making sure every detail is perfect for your stay! We highly recommend staying here!

    Michael2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda dis everything possible to make the stay enjoyable & memorable. Excellent property & intimate knowledge of the community & its amenities. Highly recommend!

  • Just a wonderful location and above all clean and inviting home. Little touches along the way make it very welcoming... thank you Brenda

    Laurence2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda’s place was great! It had so many great touches everything from water bottles in the fridge to fluffy white towels. It was a great location to stay while visiting our son in the seminary at Dillwyn! We would definitely stay there again. Brenda was so easy to work with and great communication with easy check in and out! If there was anything negative at all it was some of the surrounding houses on the street are pretty delapitated and look abandoned but it was a quiet neighborhood. Overall a great experience.

    Kerri2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, spotlessly clean house. Tastefully decorated with all the amenities you could ask for. Very quiet and welcoming town. Brenda goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable and gives you information about everything locally you should and need to know!

    Michael2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • My husband was working in a nearby government facility for a month. I came with him the 2nd week. I can tell you that Brenda's house is the most comfortable place we've stayed! It's spotlessly clean, very nicely decorated, and has every single amenity you could ask for and more! Brenda takes time to ensure your stay is comfortable, gives you information about the local area, and goes out of her way to make her house feel like home! It's so quiet and comfy here and I've been able to do my college online totally without interruption of any local noise. I also love that you may walk through the local town and enjoy some amazing little places to eat and learn about the history of Scottsville! You cannot go wrong staying in this AirBnB! Thank you Brenda-we loved it here! Betty Sanborn

  • I was very pleased with Brenda's bungalow! It's spotlessly clean, very nicely decorated, all the amenities you could want and it's quiet! A great location for sightseeing the area, getting to Charlottesville and just relaxing! I highly recommend Brenda's bungalow for anyone looking for a very comfortable and clean place to stay in the area! You will not be disappointed! And Brenda is easily accessible for any questions you may have!

This ca 1850 house, listed on the National Register of Historic Place as part of the Scottsville Historic District, has been completely renovated. It is located in historic Downtown Scottsville. Within walking distance are four restaurants and a brewery. A grocery store and other restaurants also a short drive away. A nature area with trails is also nearby. It has a kitchen, dining and living area. WiFi.
The house is one of the oldest in Scottsville. It was located at the eastern terminus of the Staunton and James River Turnpike and served as home to a blacksmith who catered to that traffic. Long abandoned the current owner had to fight to save it from demolition
  • We had a wonderful stay at Steven's charming home. The location was great, and we were very pleased with our stay overall. I would highly recommend.

    Kristen2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to spend the weekend! Wonderful small town with tons of amenities.

    Patrick2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, well restored little home. Perfect for 1-2 people. Everything I needed to prepare a meal was in the kitchen. I just had to bring the food! Sweet little town when what you are looking for is a little R&R.

    Christine2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot to base a weekend in Charlottesville and the surrounding area. The historic home was cozy, clean, and had all the essentials (including wifi). My favorite part was seeing the antique furniture and how the house had been renovated! Do note that the parking spot is very close to the road, with some cars going by quite fast. It was not bothersome once in the house however and the road is not super busy so it's not challenging to pull out, just pay attention. Definitely recommended as a great value for the area for an authentic local experience!

    Jennifer2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosting A+. Wonderful renovated house. As well as, Steven has been doing a magnificent restoration work on properties around the area.

  • This is a good place for us to stay. It is conveniently located for us to visit relatives. When we needed kitchen facilities, they were right there.

    Edward2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a highly convenient place for us to stay when we have things happening in our extended families in the Scottsville area. The bed is comfortable, and the bathroom is recent and clean. We appreciate the kitchen, especially the refrigerator, when we are preparing food to take to reunions, birthday parties, etc.

"Into the forest I go... to lose my mind and find my soul." -John Muir Incredible cabin nestled in the center of 70 very private acres. Relax and unwind under bright stars and listen to the night sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and coyotes. Close proximity to James River and tubing, UVA, and many wineries. You will see millions of stars and gain the serenity that can only come from unplugging from the world for a few days. Only 20 minutes away from all that Charlottesville has to offer!
Cabin is conveniently located in the heart of the Virginia wine, beer and cider trail. While many popular attractions await you, most guests decide that returning to the cabin is the highlight of each day. You begin to feel it from the moment you turn down into the driveway and meander by the grazing sheep entering the valley where a spring-fed creek gently gurgles as you pass through the canopy of trees shot through with shafts of sunlight. Subconsciously at first, you inhale a little deeper and then exhale just a little slower than usual. The bustle of life begins to fade as nature envelopes you. Crossing over the creek and heading upwards to Serenity Hill, you are greeted by big sky and open fields. As the driveway makes its final bend, H’Owl at the Moon Cabin unfolds. The corners of your mouth tip upward. Your shoulders rise an inch. Do they seem lighter already? Can’t be…. But then you get out of the car and step into the magic of Serenity Hill and the warm, inviting cabin. You’re on vacation and yet, somehow, you’ve come home. You were meant to be here. Before you know it, you are under her spell. It’s the place to inspire dreams and make memories; the place to appreciate family and love; the place to restore your balance as a part OF nature, not apart FROM nature. H’Owl at the Moon is an optimal place to clear the mind, restore the soul, and inspire the heart. Find your strength and your center again. Regroup and recharge. Everywhere you look, regardless of the season, you have company in the form of natural beauty – from the active peep frog colony in Spring to the hummingbirds and butterflies of Summer, from the newly arrived fawns signaling Spring through the flowering fields and firefly soaked evenings of Summer, from the night sounds of owls and coyotes in Fall to the ground nesting birds of Winter, H’Owl at the Moon beckons -- its cabin offering a central respite from which to allow your mind to quiet and your soul to open. The cabin at H’Owl at the Moon is an authentic log home on nearly 70 acres in beautiful Albemarle County, Virginia. A year-round creek borders the entire eastern side of the property with many small pools and waterfalls. Mowed footpaths cross the fields and provide easy access to walking trails in the forest and a world of exploration.
See the Guidebook. Tour UVA, enjoy local wineries, breweries, and cideries. Only 6 miles to Scottsville and the James River.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at H'Owl, especially the remoteness of it. If you want to get off the grid and soak up some true peace and quiet in an idyllic setting, this is it! There are no other homes within sight of the cabin, and it's situated on a beautiful piece of land that is hikable. The easy walk to the waterfall was a lot of fun, though there are more challenging trails around the property that we would have tackled if we'd had more time. The cabin itself is large, lovely, well appointed, and so cozy, particularly with a crackling fire going in the wood stove. It was handy to have a washer and dryer on the premises, as well as wi-fi (even though we tried not to use it...much). It's also located in a convenient spot for hitting up wineries and/or cideries and only about 35 min. from downtown Charlottesville. We did all of the above! Bill was an excellent host and extremely kind/ responsive. We also had great fun reading his humorously written guidebook. :) H'Owl was a great experience and we were sad to leave. Highly recommend, especially for those seeking a dog-friendly space!

  • Bill’s cabin is quickly becoming one of our very favorite places! He is great to communicate with and has always been so accommodating. We will be back again very soon!

    Tricia2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Bill's cabin is in an expansive (over 60 acres) setting of great natural beauty, with easily accessed trails going out into exciting and interesting areas. The cabin is unique in design and furnishings...quite comfortable and thoughtfully put together. Our stay there was like the best summer camp ever, without the busyness and hubbub. And oh, the vineyards and wineries! Best vacation trip we've had in ages.

  • This little cabin is perfect for a relaxing getaway. It’s super private and the views are breathtaking. We loved every minute we were there. Bill was a fantastic host and the cottage was so warm and welcoming. We’re already planning our next trip!

  • Outstanding property to unplug and unwind. Comfortable and relaxing cabin in proximity to local attractions, perfect for a getaway.

  • This is a beautiful cabin nestled in the woods. It is so peaceful and relaxing. Our family loved the quiet and tranquil atmosphere. We could not have ask for a better extended weekend. Thank you Bill for being great and thank you Carol for all the information and for being there to greet us.

    Charlotte2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here with another couple (and our two babies). This beautifully cozy cabin feels like home-away-from-home. We pushed the twin beds together to create 2 MBR's. Very spacious and cool setup with plenty of lounging areas to rest and enjoy rainy days together or privately. There's not a bad view in the house. William is an excellent host; very informative and great humor. Make sure you read AND save his info prior to getting close as cell service is hit or miss when we got 20 minutes out. Check-in was easy with the lockbox and the info he sent in advance. Read the check-in book when you arrive for other very helpful info (and laughs) as you settle in. It rained 2 out of 4 days, but we enjoyed the chance to explore and rest. Thankfully we brought dry firewood for the fire pit and enjoyed a fire all afternoon. It was easy exploring the property and we LOVED that there was no need for bug spray (just a flyswatter!). We planned a stellar menu (burritos & taco salads, bratwurst and s'mores over the fire, grilled steak and potatoes, soup and grilled cheese for lunches...). The stocked kitchen made it so easy to do all of that without hauling extra. We ventured out one afternoon to visit Blue Mountain Brewery and view the skyline which was beautiful. All in all, excellent stay. We were all very pleased and relaxed during our time. Highly recommended :)

    Rachel2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at H’owl at the Moon. It’s a great space to get away from the city but still be close enough to several wineries and breweries. Bill was very accommodating and provided everything we could have needed for a great stay. We’ll definitely be back! We would definitely recommend renting this cabin for your next trip!

  • We had a great stay! Stu was a great host. The space was nice and cozy and the views were wonderful. We went primarily for skiing, so it was perfect that Stu’s place was an easy 20 minute drive from the slopes. We also checked out a local brewing company (Wild wolf brewing company)for dinner and drinks after a long day, and it was delicious. Stu had little touches throughout that made our stay enjoyable, especially the heated blanket on the bed—it was perfect after a long, cold day of skiing. I highly recommend this place, and we will definitely be back!

  • This spot was amazing! The house was perfect for our group of four and our dogs. It had all of the amenities and was very clean. They offered up so many helpful tips, maps, and guides for local spots to visit. We loved taking our dogs on the walking paths and playing ball and frisbee with them on the huge property! It was secluded but not a long drive from local hot spots and had the most beautiful landscaping. We would definitely go back!

    Lauren2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, central location. Pristine and unique owner-designed cabin full of just the right amenities to make your stay as relaxing as possible. Our favorite spot was the comfortable porch with the great view of the mountains and property.

    Genevieve2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say. This place is simply magical. The house is warm, cozy and sparkling clean and the grounds and gardens are beautiful. You can spend all day on the porch watching the clouds go by but if you want to leave it's only 30 minutes to Charlottesville or to fantastic hiking. By far our favorite AirBnB!

    Karl2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot say enough good things about Anthony and Trew’s place. The view is stunning and the home was crystal clean. We had so much fun cooking lunch and reading on the back porch. It was comfortable and very clean - and communication was perfect as they accommodated our early arrival and many questions about the area. I’d love to come back in the winter and see the beautiful view with all of the snow covering the mountains.

  • Cute and cozy place right next to Scottsville and wineries. It is a tiny house-I think another reviewer was confused about that. So it’s a bed a kitchen and a bathroom pretty much. It’s also rustic so stove heat and basic amenities. From the outside it doesn’t look like much but inside it is very cozy with a nice big comfy bed and a tv right there. Also a full kitchen. Outside we enjoyed the fire pit and screened in porch. For us it was just right! We’ll definitely book again; thanks Elaine!

A great selection of coffee and snacks! I also loved the private patio. I would definitely return if in the area again.

    Ella2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The HomePlace was so much more than we expected. It was a beautiful mountain home with close proximity to scenic areas, restaurants, and several breweries and vineyards as well as wintergreen resort where we went snowboarding! There was plenty of space and sweet extra touches like snacks and tips on the area and things to do. The fireplace was on of our favorite amenities. When I was first looking at the pictures online it looked like it could be an inn with multiple guests, but we were pleasantly surprised to find out we had the whole space to ourselves and we could barely hear the host upstairs at all. It was perfect for my husband and I to enjoy the beautiful area. Stephanie was an amazing host, we would definitely recommend this place and we would stay there again if we come back!

  • Apartment is adorable and was just what we needed for my college graduation/ anniversary getaway. Out in the middle of nowhere but easy to get to. I REALLY loved the birds outside the sliding doors. The TV was there but the birds were better. The bed is huge and comfy. Amenities were much nicer than any condo up on the mountain.

    Carrie2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our days in Stephanie’s place. It was very cozy and with a lot of details. totally recommend!

    Jose2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Stephanie’s place is incredible! It’s perfectly cute and cozy, a wonderful hideout from the cold. The location is everything you could want-secluded enough that you get the beautiful mountain views but only a short drive from town. The thoughtful touches such as snacks, light breakfast items, and a printout of events in the area were much appreciated. We will certainly visit again!

    Lottie2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodations were spacious, comfortable, clean and welcoming. Just enough breakfast supplies and snacks. Very convenient location. You should stay there!

    Joni2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Can't say enough good things about The Homeplace, it's absolutely wonderful. From the beautiful views to the wonderfully furnished and cozy home, it blew us away. Can't wait to return to this hidden gem.

    Brittany2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay and absolutely recommend it and hope to come back. Full kitchen and full bath worked great for us. Caught several bass in the pond. Our dog loved meeting the family dogs as much as we did. Loved sitting on the deck listening to nature and seeing the stars with a cold Bold Rock in hand. So many positives. There is a train crossing nearby but with ear plugs I didn’t hear the train going by at night. Plan to stay here when we visit Edible Landscaping and Bold Rock brewery and take a side trip to Charlottesville again for the City Market on Saturdays. This was a fantastic trip! Thank you Gavin and Lisa and doggies!

    Vikki2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very gracious hosts! Gavin and Lisa were wonderful and they have the friendliest fur babies! Quiet and comfortable accommodations in the gorgeous mountain countryside of Northern Virginia.

  • My boyfriend and I had a great experience at Gavin and Lisa's place. Gavin was very responsive to our needs and super friendly! The place was also very cleanly and cozy. Nice secluded location for a little getaway. Definitely plan on returning in the future :)

  • Beautifully kept bed and bath with lovely large sunroom and kitchen. If you're lucky enough to be there on a clear night, the stars are amazing!

  • Gavin and Lisa’s place was nestled at the end of a gravel road in a quiet area. It is a perfect location for tranquility. The space was clean and they were very hospitable. I plan to return to do some hiking with the family.

    Christina2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this trip for my boyfriend's birthday weekend. We wanted a good location, great scenery, and a clean space to come back to after exploring the mountains all day. Gavin's place was everything we could have asked for. The views on the drive up were just beautiful, as well as their property. The price was more than fair and their dogs are just adorable. We are planning to come back in the Fall or Winter to explore the mountains further.

    Christina2019-07-22T00:00:00Z

  • This B&B is a great place to stay when visiting in Nelson county in Virginia. Very relaxing.

    Linda Sue2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • We visited because my wife is an avid Walton's fan. The house has a feel of the period, so adding to the visit. Linda is an excellent host - great breakfast and everything else. Also recommended a good place to eat.

  • Such a wonderful Home to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet! I loved being so close to The Walton’s-Hamner House!

    Linda Sue2019-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Magical perfect stay in this fabulous home with period furnishings! We wished we could have stayed a week! We felt so sad to leave! Adorable pets, meaningful conversation, comfortable bed with very clean linens, whimsically decorated, stellar homemade breakfast; frittata, blueberry pancakes, sweet muffins, fruit cup! Little magical touches abound! We didn’t mind sharing the clean bathroom one bit! It was very peaceful! My daughter loved the innkeeper, chocolate candy cups, fireflies, attic room, and the friendly furry friends! See both the Waltons museums if you stay here! We honestly enjoyed better than Monticello!

    Tamy2019-05-18T00:00:00Z

Woodhaven Farm is a beautiful 250-acre working farm in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, 26 miles south of Charlottesville near Scottsville, VA. Woodhaven Farm is a working farm producing 100% grass-fed beef. Surrounded by rolling meadows and woodlands, the farm is quiet and wonderfully isolated yet close to many of the attractions that make Virginia a desirable place to visit.
The Barn is a light-filled, two-bedroom apartment above the barn. There's a large great room and kitchen for gathering with great views in all directions. Lie in the master bed and watch the sun rise over the pond. Enjoy a glass of wine on the back deck watching the sun set. There's also a game room with pool table, arcade and ping pong table in a room below.
Stay on the farm and enjoy hiking, canoeing/kayaking on the James River; use the farm as base to explore historic Scottsville, the Appalachian Trail, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia wine country or delve into America's history at Revolutionary and Civil War battle sites. The homes of three early American presidents, Jefferson, Monroe and Madison, are within an easy hour's drive.
  • This beautiful space is so unique and gorgeous! I thought my pup was never going to want to come home. There is plenty of space to explore right on the property but also so much nearby. We found Scottsville itself to be a great town and enjoyed the local brewery and restaurants. Will definitely be back!

    Anna2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very unique place to stay. Quiet and secluded while not being too far away from good restaurants, breweries, wineries, etc. Other than a few minor cleanliness issues our stay was great. Added bonuses were access to the game room on the bottom floor and a nearby pond with Adirondack chairs. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a private and peaceful trip. If traveling with a child that has trouble sleeping/napping in a bright room you may need to improvise (our daughter napped in a travel crib in the bathroom). Would definitely stay again.

    Michael2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot say enough about Diana and the beautiful oasis she has created there in Virginia. It could not have been more idyllic and has provided our family with lasting memories that we will always look back on!

    Melissa2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • The barn is a wonderful escape for the family and a quick trip from the Richmond area. The hospitality was amazing and I would recommend this to anyone (the dozen fresh eggs given to us upon arrival was great). There is a small pond with a canoe next to the barn, which we enjoyed a few times with the kids. Although not common, there was an orphaned cow that the farm was nursing back into shape, and the host offered our daughter to help feed it - which was perfect, given her love of animals. We will definitely be back...

A quiet and so cozy rustic farm feel tucked away amongst an oak forest. There are 4+ beds, 3 full baths, and a stocked kitchen. The Rockfish River is perfect for a guided tour, splashing around or good ole river sittin' as a bonus! If an additional space is needed look for our guesthouse located on the property. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/16657642?location=Schuyler%2C%20VA%2C%20United%20States&source_impression_id=p3_1564009851_HlTQ01A1fX6pGruk
Our place is 100% family-friendly with attractive activities; such as kayaking and hiking, close by. The house has access to sunrise & set views, goats, kitties and dogs. This is a restful place, and nature is alive here!
  • The Abundant Seed House was the perfect setting for a weekend away from the city with some friends. The pictures don't do this place justice so be prepared for a warm and cozy stay in the woods. The amenities were outstanding, Kim really did a great job providing all the basics and more. The beds were comfy, decor was beautiful, the farm animals were perfect neighbors and Bilbo the cat was the best surprise we didn't know we needed. Be prepared that cell service is spotty, so download check-in instructions prior (which was clearly noted) but the lack of wifi and cell service was fine and allowed for more quality time without distractions. Local wineries and breweries aren't to far from the house but plan accordingly because getting there involves lots of windy back roads - stay safe. My only advice before booking with Kim would be to plan for a longer stay because you won't want to leave the beauty that is the abundant seed house!

    Melanie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Absolute amazing place. It was much better than advertised I only wish we had more time to explore even more!

    Abdullah2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Kims place was amazing. I wanted to take the family to the mountains for the weekend. We were so lucky to find this place. Very country “like home” feel. Close to places to fish, hike (we went to Crabtree falls) and just “be”. The kids had a ball playing with the Goats and the dog that were there on the farm. We got to go exploring in the woods.(the treehouse was a hit with the kids). Just a relaxing place to go and take a load off. And thank you to Kim for the hospitality. Your place is awesome and we WILL be back.

  • A very comfortable home in a beautiful setting!

    Stephanie2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Abundant Seed! Very cozy! Tons of blankets, a wood stove (bring your own wood), a water boiler, and lots of spices and cooking equipment! We went in January for a friend’s birthday, and we had such a great time. Open areas so you can all be together whether you are cooking, hanging in the dining room, or in the living room. Beds were comfy and there were ample towels and supplies. Thanks Kim!

  • If you ever find yourself in or near Faber, VA, by all means see if Acorn BnB has a room. The hosts are informative, helpful, interesting people who ensure you have a comfortable room, and have a nutritious breakfast with coffee, juice and a variety of breads. In the evening and early morning, you might also be lucky enough to see the local bear browsing in the field nearby! The walls are hung with lively artwork by Kathy, and paintings by her great grandfather, also an artist. Monticello is only about 40 minutes away, and the small town of Nellysford is not too far, where there are a couple of restaurants. All in all, I had a wonderful stay at Acorn BnB.

  • The Acorn Inn reminds me of pensions in Europe. Simple and rustic with a common area (and common bathrooms). Coffee and muffins for breakfast. Lovely views - out in beautiful Nelson County. Thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Martin in the mornings and evenings... such an interesting life. Kathy's art is prominently displayed throughout the Inn. I had a great stay. Also had the place to myself. Probably isn't for everyone, but I enjoyed settling in there in the evenings. Pretty long way from Charlottesville, but close to the breweries and wineries in Nelson.

We had no problems using the private WiFi on our phones or with the Apple TV. Our dog had a great time too and got to meet Robert’s dogs when we arrived! We were only around 20 minutes from several vineyards so it was very convenient for wine tastings. Overall would recommend for a great weekend getaway!

  • Fantastic escape! Great hosts.

  • The grain shed is lovely; small and cozy, and good for 1 or 2 people. It was perfect for my weekend workshop at Yogaville, about 20 minutes away. I will say, make sure you have provisions (coffee/tea, food, snacks, etcetera) because the closest store is not around the corner! ;-) Tom and Alicia are great hosts and went out of their way to help me get into my car when it devilishly locked with the keys inside! They even offered me their own vehicle to get to my workshops. Wow! Now, that's service - and genuine kindness. (We did manage to get into my car! Yay!) And getting loved up (sweetly, not obnoxiously lol) by their 3 precious pups was an extra treat!! If you're looking for a place to stay in that area, go there. You will love it. I sure did.

  • Tom and Allicia were a delight to stay with. Thoughtful and accomodating hosts that provided us space and time to decompress and opened their property to us. We had a wonderful time walking the dogs on the country driveway through the fields, enjoying a cool evening swing in the backyard and a friendly chat over a morning cup of coffee. My wife and I couldn't recommend them more. Wonderful time, wonderful property and wonderful people.

  • Tim’s cabin is a great find. Close to downtown Scottsville and close enough for day trips to Charlottesville and Goochland. The space is plenty big for two.

  • This house truly feels like a home, cozy and comfortable. Hostess attends to the details, providing toiletries, coffee and basic condiments as well as a very clean space. The kitchen is well equipped. The space works well for 2 families. We’d stay again!

  • Great place, awesome communication it is what is advertised

  • Jacqui is very responsive to your requests. The home is tastefully decorated with many special homey touches. The home was much larger and laid out better than we expected. It has an open concept that allows easy traffic flow between the kitchen, living room and bedrooms. Although the home does not have central air, the wall unit did a great job keeping the entire home cool. We really enjoyed out stay there.

  • I would (and already have) recommend this airbnb to anyone! Great secluded location but still close enough to Vineyards/Breweries. Would love to come back.

  • My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Andre and Marie’s place! The cottage was very clean and cozy with many thoughtful touches as well as lists with the local restaurants and events happening the weekend we stayed there. We would definitely love to stay here again!

  • Incredible! I’ve found my favorite vacation spot. This place was even better than I expected and I already had very high expectations. I really can’t say enough good about this place. I absolutely loved it here!!

    Kerri2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • I honestly had no idea what to expect. This was my first attempt at an airbnb. Everything exceeded our expectations. I would strongly recommend that others take advantage of this little piece of heaven. Outstanding views and exceptional hospitality. I can't say enough. Thank you so much. I'm so glad we decided on this spot.

    Rob2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • It was a very quaint little cottage with special touches that were unexpected, they also provided a list of things happening in the area and addresses for each location, I would stay there again.

  • The Cottage at Davis Creek is a beautiful home with lovely views and great amenities. Our hosts were wonderful!! We had a fabulous time.

    Ellen2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Though my trip was cut short by 1 day and I only spent a few hours at the cottage - I found it incredibly relaxing and full of amenities that aided in my stay. Andre and Marie were very understanding hosts and did a great job adjusting to my schedule.

    David2019-10-27T00:00:00Z

Fantastic views, magical location - it's what guests have been saying and I feel that way too. It's a spacious, modern, two level house (just 10 years old) with open floor plans, lots of windows and glass doors. 2 BR, 2 BA, full kitchen, two living rooms, dining room, laundry room, spectacular views from both the main floor and upstairs loft (the second living room). 30 minutes to Charlottesville, 20 minutes to Wintergreen. Many historic landmarks nearby.
The house sits on the ridge on Rainbow Ridge Road, with amazing views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from the front and side of the house. The backyard is about 500 feet wooded downhill, with a creek at the bottom. The house is a three-story comfortable family home built in 2008 on three acres of land. On the main floor you will find a well equipped eat-in kitchen, a dining, a living and a bedroom; also a full bath and a laundry room. All of the main floor is lovely bamboo floor. You can enjoy the amazing views while enjoying your meal in the dining room or hanging out in the living room. The top floor has the second bedroom, another full bath and a spacious loft, with TV (with basic dish channels), DVD player and children toys. A futon sofa in the loft opens up to a queens size mattress. Views are most spectacular from the loft. The basement apartment (the third floor and is not used by guests) has separate access, separate parking, and separate walkway and is where I might stay (if I am not away) when guests occupy the upper two floors.
You will be within half an hour from many beautiful "back to nature" opportunities, historic places, and various entertainment options. Access to the Appalachian trail is only 20 minutes from the house, as is the Blue Ridge Parkway offering many access points to scenic lookouts and hiking trails. Biking on the Blue Ridge Parkway is also a great experience. In the living room table you can find a great Blue Ridge Parkway hiking book which you can use to get ready for next day's hike. Wintergreen, a nearby mountain resort, with its spectacular golf course and ski resort, is also just 20 minutes from the house. I have been skiing at Wintergreen ever since I built the house in 2008, getting there is a lovely, enjoyable drive. Charlottesville and the University of Virginia are 30 minutes away (I work there and my travel time is 28 minutes) as is Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. The region offers a great variety of winery, brewery and distillery choices. You can find a grocery store, basic services, and a few small restaurants about four miles away in Nellysford. On Saturday mornings from May - October there is a farmers' market, with live country music, where you can buy fresh local produce, baked goods, various food items and local art. The house is secluded, but not totally isolated. It is is part of a 500 acre mountain community with about 50 houses nestled in the woods on hill sides, most of them far away from Rainbow Ridge Road (so you can hardly see any houses). Walking along the gravel roads, enjoying the spectacular views you might occasionally see a friendly walker saying hi as we all do there.
  • Was a great place to stay with a busy body toddler! Ilona had MANY toys available to keep him busy!

    Brittney2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy and quiet mountain getaway! Close enough for all the sightseeing that Nellysford has to offer; but far enough away from all the chaos.

    Mark2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Ilona's house was lovely in a nice secluded setting. She was very prompt in responding to questions.

    Mary2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • House is very well-equipped and quite comfortable. It has good TV service and good wifi connection. The views are nice and we love the quiet. It is a drive on winding mountain roads to get anywhere from this remote location. We enjoyed the deer that came by every evening to sample fallen fruit from the pear tree. We looked forward to them each day.

    Patricia2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful communication, great location and views - we really could not ask for more from an AirB&B. Comfy mattresses, too!

    Greg2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This house is in a perfect location for visiting various tourist locations including those in Charlottesville, Staunton, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Walton's museum! And you'll love the nightly visitations from the deer!

    Kimberly2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Ilona’s home is located in a very scenic area. It is a short drive from numerous wineries and breweries and all that Nellysford and Wintergreen have to offer. Ilona is accessible and responsive to guests’ needs.

    Carol2019-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ilona’s house is beautiful, and the view from the upstairs sitting room is breathtaking! The house is clean and well-organized, the kitchen is in great working order, the bathrooms are stocked with soap and shampoos, and the furniture is very comfortable. We had a wonderful stay, and are very grateful to Ilona for all of her help when we first arrived, she is a fantastic host!
