Perfectly located, beautifully remodeled 2BR unit in a 1906 building. Great for a solo traveler, but spacious and comfy for several more. Custom built furniture, posturepedic beds for 5, and a fantastic deck overlooking a lovely backyard in an idyllic neighborhood make this a most pleasant Chicago stay. Parking is easily found in front of my building on Racine Ave. It's free and does not require a permit.
The first thing I did when I bought this place was rip out the storm windows and screens, and install beautiful new windows. Light is everything to me. In the morning, the living room is bright and vibrant. All three windows open wide to the sounds of the street. The kitchen, dining room, and outdoor patio are almost like one room. I leave the back door, French doors, and both screen doors open almost all day long, letting in the breeze, the light, and the sounds of the back yard. It makes for a wonderful indoor/outdoor sensation, which you can get away with for much of the year because of the radiant heating in the building. The backyard itself is also lovely, with a flagstone firepit and walks, as well as a few benches to sit and enjoy the shade in.
Lincoln Park is a fantastic neighborhood. Most of the buildings are old, and the mature trees that line every street give this neighborhood a beautiful aesthetic. It can get sort of wild/young/crazy the closer you get to the lake. My neck of the woods is peaceful and fairly residential. That said, this is Chicago, so that means there's a great bar/restaurant on the corner, about 150 feet away from my front door. The Monkey's Paw is a fantastic restaurant a block and a half away, and if you take a look on the map, you'll see there are loads of great bars and restaurants incredibly close by. The park and the lake are about a 10 minute bike ride (or 7 if you really hustle) from my door, and you've also got close access to Wicker Park, Bucktown, and the Lakeview Neighborhoods.
  • This is one of the most beautiful spaces I have ever stayed in. The weather was nice one day and I was able to open the doors and sit at the table and write all day. There's a beautiful bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, a massive kitchen with gas burners, and a lot of space to relax in the living room and dining room with natural light. If you're driving in, the parking is plentiful, even on nights when we got in late. It's also a quick walk to the El if you'd like to take the train. Very clean, easy to check in/out, and the host leaves you a great guide as well. I hope to stay again sometime!

  • Beautiful space in a great, convenient location. The space was clean, spacious, and had a great number of amenities. Only minutes from transit, it was a great place to stay while exploring the City.

  • My husband and I stayed at Peter's place with our two grandchildren, ages 4 and 2. I highly recommend it. The apartment itself is on the second floor, very doable stairs for the four of us. There is a sizeable living room with fireplace, plenty of lighting and comfy seating, and big windows (which we used to play endless rounds of "I Spy"). Our bedroom had a very comfortable bed, with a bedside table and lamp on each side of the bed. The kids' bedroom had room for a pack 'n play bed on the floor and was a cozy space for the two of them. The dining room had a large table and chairs, perfect for inside activities. There was also a cabinet full of games and Lego's, which we really appreciated. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you'd need to prepare meals. Peter generously and thoughtfully provided coffee, milk, eggs, seltzers....a very well-stocked fridge for an Airbnb. There is also a great back porch for warmer weather. We are from Chicago, and one of our favorite bakeries is a short 8 min. walk away - Sweet Mandy B's. We could also walk to The Monkey's Paw, Starbuck's, Bird's Nest (wings!), to name a few other favorites, as well as a playground literally a minute's walk away. I also have to mention that Peter is a wonderful host who went out of his way to accommodate our last minute request to arrive a night early, and worked with us to arrange a late check-out for nap time. His responses were almost instantaneous. You won't regret choosing his place for a visit to Lincoln Park.

    Jill2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place and convenient location. Peter was very responsive to any inquiries I had as well.

    Kunal2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • I’ve stayed here 3 times now and I can’t recommend this place enough. Large clean apartment in a great location in Lakeview. Peter is a great host who is very easy to communicate with. I have only stayed here by myself but this would be a great place to stay with another guest or even kids!

    Adam2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is stylish and in a great neighborhood. Whole Foods is a quick walk away along with trendy restaurants and shops. Took the L into the city which was also a quick 15 min or so ride. Peter was quick to respond and everything in the place is just like he advertised. We had a great trip in Chicago because his place was great to come home to after a long day of being tourists.

    Cami2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • this home is absolutely charming! Very clean, and welcoming I felt at home as soon as I walked in. It’s in a great area, with many things to explore near by. I hope one day to return! 10/10 would recommend again

  • The location could have been better but the place. Loft was amazing. Felt at home.

    Syed2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • I LOVED this apartment. It was so cute and chic. The bed was insanely comfortable. I slept so well. The check-in instructions were long due to it being an apartment but very detailed and easy to follow. The only thing is we didn’t have any toilet paper haha but no big deal because we checked in extremely late and didn’t want to bother the host. I’m sure they would have taken care of it immediately had we contacted them. Over all, the stay, although short, was extremely comfy and cozy and I will absolutely stay here again in the future

    Taylar2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay! Really worth the price and very convenient location. City Cafe is in walking distance and has amazing breakfast food! I felt like I was apart of the community and not a visitor! Also keep in mind pricey lyfts into the city and back!

  • Dasha and Owen’s place was so clean and the bed was comfortable! The restaurant downstairs accommodated our luggage until the unit was ready for check in since we arrived before 3pm. Dasha and Owen made themselves available for any of our needs and gave us a warm welcoming to Chicago. Would definitely come back to stay here! :)

  • Cute studio apartment. Very clean, and secure. I have a large SUV and parking was a bit tricky but not impossible. I appreciated the garage space. The provided coffee, creamer, and sugar was an added bonus! I grabbed a burrito from the Mexican restaurant downstairs and it was good. You will have to carry your luggage through the alley, around to the front of the building, and up a steep flight of stairs. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and would definitely consider it if I’m in the area again.

    Carol2020-03-03T00:00:00Z

I was able to contact the hosts when I had trouble opening the door (it was mostly me having the issue, but they were super nice). I would totally stay here again.

The combination of metals, velvet and wood in the interior make this a beautiful apartment and a contemporary dream. Please note that this unit is located above a late night bar, which may add to the charm of it for some but may also pose to be a noise nuisance for light sleepers. We encourage you to read the reviews of past guests to make an informed decision.

  • The AirBnB was perfect. It was in an easy to reach location. Had great restaurants near by. The place was clean and easy to access. I would recommend this place again. I would stay here again if I’m in the area.

    Aaron2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Good location, good price, and nice to have an apartment to ourselves. There is a tiny shower in the bathroom. You could potentially cook for yourselves while staying, but the kitchen is not well stocked. Overall, a good choice in this neighborhood, and good proximity to lots of restaurants and activities. Note: the property is above a bar, but the noise was not disruptive, and easily covered with the sound from a TV, or a fan.

    Scott2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great! We used the CTA to move around. Your so close why wouldn't you? They gave me tips for free parking. I didnt move the car the entire stay. They warn about noise but I sleep with the TV on. I didn't even notice the noise. Easy check in amd out. Will be back!

  • The bed was so comfortable. That was probably my favorite part. The room was very cute and had everything I needed. The hosts were easy to reach. I had an amazing time staying here. The bar underneath wasn’t loud at all you could sometimes hear the music but very rarely. Over all I had an amazing time and would definitely come stay here again!

    Aliyah2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • The place is exactly as the description says, the bed is comfortable. Great apartment definitely recommend it for anyone, thanks.

  • Great stay. Beautiful and comfortable apt. Great communication and location. Would highly recommend !!

    Ruben2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Nala & Owen's place was a delight! The apartment was sparkling clean, had all the amenities needed, and it was decorated quite nicely. Check-in/out process was easy and Nala & Owen were easy to stay in contact with. The noise from the bar on the floor below was noticeable but did not bother me at all and didn't disrupt sleeping. I'd definitely look to stay here again on the next visit to Chicago and would highly recommend to anybody looking for an place to stay.

The Creative Suite is a private room with shared bath in a beautiful Victorian on a tree-lined, historic, residential street. We are in best location in Evanston - just 2-3 blocks from shops and dozens of restaurants, movie theater complex, dry cleaners, Whole Foods, Trader Joes. 2.5 blocks to the Metra and CTA trains. One half mile to Lake Michigan and its lovely beaches and parks. Northwestern University main campus is less than a mile away. Please note: NU Law and Med are downtown Chicago
The Creative Suite is named that because it was the room where our editing and graphic suite was located. It's painted a warm, dark gray. We've decorated it with art and photography we've collected from trips to Bali, Mexico and Haiti. Guests describe it as soothing and comforting. The bed is firm and supportive. Guests have described their sleep as deep and restful. The south-facing window lets in the morning light for a natural wake-up. You're up at tree-top level so birds will often be spied just a few feet away. There's a wide desk for you to spread out your research and get to work on your own creative endeavor.
Our neighborhood is a quiet, connected community of home and condo owners. But just around the corner is the beginnings of downtown Evanston, rated 98% for walk-ability. We have three marvelous bakeries for morning croissants, plenty of coffee shops, quirky shops to poke around in, a multi-plex movie theater. In addition, Evanston is known for being the culinary capital of the North Shore with 50+ restaurants. Northwestern University has a large Chinese community so the Chinese restaurants are particularly good here. Guests who have stayed here have walked to lessons and seminars at Kratos Strength Systems, Studio Mangiameli Flamenco Dance, the Open Studio Project, Coaching the Body Institute and Northwestern University.
  • Another excellent stay. This was the 2nd time I’ve done so and it all worked out just as great as the first time.

  • Gaylon and her husband Roger are great hosts. I had a good time at their house. The room was cozy, with a desk and WiFi, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The hosts are willing to help and gave me some good tips. I enjoyed our conversations as well as the breakfast and coffee that Gaylon setup in the morning. Thank you for that! If you’re visiting Northwestern it’s within a walking distance and perfect place to stay. There are also plenty of nice restaurants in the area. Highly recommended!

  • This lovely Evanston home was exactly what my mother and myself needed for our mother daughter time. The space felt spacious, cute, and cozy. My mother and I run a little cold so it was a little nippy at times for us and the home is older so the radiators do make some noise when on, but the character of the home and the design choices made throwing on a shawl when watching a movie worth it. We really enjoyed our stay and most definitely would consider it for a second stay.

  • We are parents of a sophomore at Northwestern University. We came here to celebrate Chinese New Year with our son. And some time, we will invite him and his classmates comes to have dinner. We have been here for two weeks, it’s quite long. We are super satisfied with our stay at Susan’s house. Before we leave, I sent a message to Susan. “Hi Susan, we will leave tomorrow morning at 9:00am. It's a great experience to stay with you! Thank you so much for sharing more chairs with us, and others you did for us. It make us possible to make a home away from home for our son and his friends. Expect to stay with you next time. Wish you all the best.” Here is our feelings: 1. Extremely clean; 2, the whole decoration is very emotional; 3, the kitchen utensils are very complete; 4. We once invited 10 guests to come for dinner, we still have enough tableware, wine glasses and cups; 4. As the host, Susan was very warm-hearted, cared us a lot; 5. Convenient street parking; 6. The room is warm and the heating system works well; 7. The washer and dryer in the basement works greatly. Definitely we will recommend this house!

  • Our family spent a wonderful couple of weeks in Susan‘s apartment. She made us feel very welcome from the outset and communication was excellent throughout. The apartment was the perfect place for us to stay while we were preparing to move into our new home. Great location, great host, cozy, just what we needed for our stay!

  • Carrie’s place was a very stylish, decorated and wonderful place in Evanston, right near bus stops and it is extremely convenient for Northwestern folks or visitors to Evanston. I enjoyed the entire floor with a private bedroom and the keurig coffee machine and snacks! There is plenty of available free street parking and the neighborhood is beautiful with shady trees lining the roads. Carrie was super helpful with local recommendations about food, travel etc; the place is perfect for anyone visiting Evanston—I would love to be back in the future!

  • Carrie does an excellent job at making her place very cozy. I felt very at home during my stay. Many snacks and keurig cups to get a nice start to the morning. Carrie was also very friendly in her messages and responded in a timely manner which I appreciated.

  • Always a great stay. Always my first choice when looking for a place in the area.

    Anthony2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Airbnb is located downstairs from the main home. Besides the bed room and bathroom, a living room is also part of the Airbnb. The owner communicated all the information that would be needed to enter and exit. Also some snacks and coffee were also available. I did wish the shower water got a little hotter as someone who prefers real hot showers. Overall a good experience though.

  • A very nice place! We loved staying here. It was very close to a bus stop which brought us to downtown Evanston, and it was a really great location for us to stay during our trip to Northwestern. Thanks so much!

Not a luxurious hotel, but clean & comfy basement unit :-) Clean, spacious entire basement floor with private entrance, private bathroom with standing shower & towels, Hair dryer upon request, bedroom with full size bed, living room with comfy leather sofa, free cable, free WiFi & free private parking space. Microwave oven, mini fridge, coffee machine, and free coffee and creamer. Plates and silverware are provided. The full kitchen for cooking is on the main floor.
We live on the main floor and upstairs and we have reserved our finished basement for our guests. It has a full shower and a bedroom, a living room with TV and Wi-Fi and a private entrance. The kitchen cannot be shared with the rest of the house, but we have installed a microwave, some plates and cups, and free coffee for your comfort.
The neighborhood is very safe, neighbors are nice and friendly, public transportation is literally steps away, there are 2 shopping malls within 2 to 4 miles with lots of restaurants. There is a Starbucks, Mcdonalds, Burger King, Italian restaurant, grocery store, nail salon, Subway, gas station and many more within 5 minute walk. Northwestern University is a 10 min drive East.
  • Nice place. Clean and pretty much what we expected. Comfortable and worked well for us. Thank you Isis!

  • We need a no-frills place to stay for one night in Evanston. It worked out well for us and was much cheaper than any of the hotels in the area. The check-in process was easy and we were able to easily find street parking. The double bed is slightly small for two people. but again fine for one night. There is plenty of space for your things in the "living room" area. I think it accurately matched the description and pictures.

Beautifully appointed bedroom in grand old home near the Northwestern campus. Very comfortable queen bed, private balcony, and pull-out work space. Private full bath. Free parking all around the neighborhood. The "L" train is a block and a half away, with 2 Metra stops, each about 4 blocks away. Just a snippet about Evanston: https://www.apartmenttherapy.com/evanston-illinois-guide-32252469
This beautiful home was built in 1897 but enjoys all the modern comforts. Everything you could possibly want or need is within a matter of no more than four short blocks by foot. A lakefront bike and walking path running north and south from Dempster, where it dead-ends at Lake Michigan, is a lovely way to start the day.
The house is in a happening urban area just off one of Evanston's main drags, Dempster Street. Dempster is a major east-west street. Head north up Maple, Sherman Avenue, Sherman Place or Chicago to Grove, Davis and Church and find yourself in the heart of Evanston's thriving downtown area - in the middle of Northwestern country - with literally hundreds if not thousands of restaurants, shops, coffee houses, bakeries, boutiques, gift shops, and the like. You are in the middle of everything here! Head south to Main Street and enjoy an eclectic assortment of establishments, including Dave's Rock Shop, the Squeeze Box book and record store, restaurants, coffee shops, a spectacular fabric store, consignment clothing stores (on the west side of Chicago, just north of Main). Check out any number of area establishments, including Hewn Bakery (a tenth of a mile away, open every day except Monday, just to the east of the corner of Elmwood and Chicago), SPACE music venue (two tenths of a mile away, on Chicago and Dempster), Tapas Barcelona on Chicago, Found on Chicago, That Little Mexican Cafe on Church, Bat 17 for killer burgers, Blind Faith Cafe (well-known vegetarian restaurant on Dempster, east of Chicago), Lucky Platter (Main Street) . . . the possibilities are endless, and all walkable. I’m getting hungry just thinking about the options!

The New Orleans Room is in a lovely Victorian on a tree-lined, historic, residential street. We have the best location in Evanston - in two to three blocks you will encounter unique shops and dozens of restaurants, a movie theater complex, dry cleaners, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's. 2.5 blocks to the Metra and CTA trains. One half mile to Lake Michigan with its lovely beaches and parks. Northwestern University main campus is less than a mile away. Please note: NU Law and Med are in Chicago
My husband Roger is from New Orleans and we would live there if we could. We love the city's easy-going, yet elegant lifestyle. We've filled our guest room with furniture, photos and art from the Crescent City. Even the view out the window of our neighbor's Victorian wrap-around porch is reminiscent of NOLA architecture. The pastels and painting in the room is by New Orleans artist, Doris Brown who happens to be Roger's mother. Room is off the kitchen/dining room so you will smell coffee and hear the tinkling of cups and glasses in the morning.

Evanston is a gorgeous city, very safe and family friendly with great school system. Beaches are absolutely beautiful here and get packed in summer. My house is close to many good restaurants and several grocery stores. Bus station is 2 blocks away and metro station is in a few min drive. Your room has a queen bed, a futon, a dresser, garment hanger, and a TV that you can enjoy watching Netflix and Amazon Prime on. It also comes with a PRIVATE Bathroom 😉
  • Kaveh's place is great. It's very clean, safe, convenient, quiet, spacious, and comfortable; parking is easy and free; it offers privacy, generally, and a private bath. It's located in a quiet, safe residential neighborhood and is a 5 - 10 - minute drive to Northwestern University; to Evanston's wonderful beaches, restaurants, shops, and arts scene; and to public transportation to downtown Chicago (south) and to points north as well. It's a fantastic base for the Chicago-area business traveler or for visitors to Northwestern University or other area organizations. And Kaveh is personable, accommodating, gracious, and interesting and accomplished. I highly recommend his place!

    Lisa2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Kaveh's place was awesome. Would absolutely stay here again. Cozy basement suite, a short drive to Downtown Evanston. Kevah is very friendly and an excellent host. Can't recommend this place highly enough!

  • If you need a private room, north of the city, this is your spot. I actually hate writing such great reviews because I know I'll never be able to book this place again. Firstly the hosts are very special people. They welcomed me and made me feel like it was my home too. When you enter the home, you'll go through a common living room which made me feel at first a bit awkward as I felt like I was walking in on this couple. However, once you go downstairs, you're completely private with a large bedroom and normal sized bathroom. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom is private and have all that you need. Evanston is a great northern city of Chicago and you'll find everything you'll need here. This place is a total winner and I really enjoyed getting to know the hosts... now friends. Good luck on getting this place.

  • Kaveh's home was perfect. I recently moved to Chicago and needed a place to stay for a couple nights until my moving truck arrived. The bedroom I stayed in was very large and spacious and is a garden level room which provided extra privacy. I appreciated the private bathroom being on the same level and directly across from the bedroom. The bed was soooo comfortable. I slept very well. This space was clean, comfortable, and spacious. I would definitely stay again and will be sure to recommend this place when family members visit me.

    Renee2019-10-30T00:00:00Z

This is a bright, cozy, stylish, and family-friendly condo, walking distance to L and Metra, restaurants, beaches, and Northwestern. Our place will be especially appealing to families with young children. We have tons of toys, kids' books, and games. This is our home when we are in Evanston (we divide our time between Evanston and Los Angeles), and we want people who will treat our home with the same care and respect they would treat their own.
In the main bedroom, there is a king bed. The second bedroom has a toddler bed. In the living room, there is a Room and Board couch that pulls out to a queen size bed, for which we have a comfortable mattress topper.
SE Evanston is a gorgeous neighborhood of parks, playgrounds, and multiple beaches. We are a 25 minute drive to downtown Chicago, which is also accessible by nearby transit lines. To Northwestern's Evanston campus it is a 5 minute drive, a 10 minute bike ride, or a 25 minute walk through leafy streets or along the lake.
  • This place is as beautiful as the photos! The location is perfect and very close to downtown Evanston.

  • Street parking is at a premium in this neighborhood. Apt was just as described, and close to the lake and to shops and restaurants. If the weather had been better, we would have walked or biked.

  • This is a beautiful spacious condo in a great location close to the lake and walkable to so much that Evanston has to offer. The bed and bedding are super comfortable ! Directions are clear and host responds immediately to any need. Top notch, I highly recommend.

Private entrance, private 1 bedroom garden apartment. Full private kitchen and private bathroom.
This is a ground level apartment in the private single family house. The apartment has it’s on separate entrance in the back of the house. Completely private, with full kitchen and full bathroom. I opened my home to people who truly need a decent and clean place to stay but can’t afford hotels prices and fees. Because I also like to travel and can only afford it on low budget. I take pride of my place, and make it as comfortable as if I would stay in the space myself. I’ve stayed in the very bedroom you’re renting to experience and feel the space :).
Short walk to park, 1 mile away from Northwestern, or lakefront. Public transportation access.

  • Cosnotti is super nice and helpful, and the arrangements are awesome. Nice and large basement with almost everything you need. The room is neat, definitely a nice place to stay for holidays.

    Tommy2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Pretty nice basement with everything you need. Space is large enough to host a party of 6-8. Great place to stay!

    Tommy2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Cosnotti is incredibly kind and listens to any questions or concerns you might have. She's very responsive and personable. Her space is clean and quiet in the basement of her house with total privacy. There is not much natural light (since it's in the basement) so if that's something you need this might not be the place for you. Otherwise, it's a great place to stay!

    Molly2019-12-31T00:00:00Z

IF... you want to race into the city to see a play, go for a jog along the lake, have a quick coffee with a friend or enjoy a fine restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, it's all here in the lovely lakeside town of EVANSTON, IL. You can enjoy it all while living in my studio apartment w/private kitchen, private bath, private entry, shared laundry area and......., if you need it, garage parking, too! Enjoy my garden on warm summer days; in winter, you will love the heated floor!
The studio offers a private kitchen with all amenities: cook top; toaster oven; refrigerator/freezer; drinks refrig; micro-wave; elec. kettle; Nespresso machine; chinaware for 4; cutlery, cooking utensils; and the eating area has a table and chairs. The private bath has a soaking tub and shower and linen closet; the studio includes a full size bed; sofa bed; study desk; seating area and plenty of storage and closet space. Wifi is included along with heating, electric. The special feature for winter is: In-Floor Heating, when you put your foot on the floor it's WARM!
The neighborhood is residential, quiet and the type of neighborhood where residents stay in touch via an ' email list serve account ' offering information about what is going on in the neighborhood and what they may want information on or want to sell or buy. You see residents walking their babies and dogs and children playing, but within minutes you can be anywhere because of its location in the center of Evanston, but it's ' off the beaten path'. The neighborhood was established at the end of 1800 and the homes are small farm and cottage type homes that have been maintained through the years, it recently has gone through a period of revival because of its location and the charming homes and quiet life style it offers. It is has been called ' Greenleaf Village ' by some because of the diversity of artists, actors, writers and entrepreneurs who have chosen to live here. Diversity is what Evanston, Illinois is all about and this neighborhood is just that. Evanston is known as the City of Churches, all denominations are represented; a vast variety of ethnic groups live here: 1 out of 4 residents come from abroad. Northwestern University is a great draw to the area and fosters this diversity. There are a number of concert halls and performance venues in the city including: movie theaters, children's theater, open air concerts at the lake, art fairs, business district street fairs. You will a find a wide selection of sports activities, which includes an ice skating center, The Robert Crown Center, adjacent to our neighborhood, presently developing a new expansion to provide multiple services: a library, tennis courts, playing fields and much, more.......

  • If you stay in contact with Ania, then she will provide you with the stay your expect. The room and bathroom were very clean when I arrived. I was also given a parking space not on the main road, so I didn't have to worry about possible damage from so many other cars. Ania is very nice and so are her cats, which didn't cause any type of smells to my clothes. . I really enjoyed staying here and I'd gladly stay again.

    Kelvin2019-11-01T00:00:00Z

Located in a modern high rise on the north side, this apartment has just about everything a traveler could want for their visit to Chicago, including lakefront and skyline views. Fully furnished in modern fashion, you will have the comforts of home even as you travel.
You will have access to the full one-bedroom apartment, with a spacious living room and kitchen, plus in-unit laundry and a balcony with skyline views! The living room is quite large, with beautiful floor to ceiling windows and an attached balcony. It has a TV with access to many streaming services and broadcast channels that you are welcome to use. Additionally, the couch pulls out into a full-size bed if needed to accommodate extra guests. The kitchen has a few amenities I like to keep handy for you. I have a Keurig coffee maker with a variety of pods. I also keep a stock of tea and light snacks on the counter. The bedroom has a very comfortable memory foam bed, a small sitting area, and a TV with access to several broadcast channels. Overall, this is a very safe, welcoming, and quiet building. The building is secured by RFID keys, and there is staff on-site 24/7. The neighbors are always very respectful and quiet--in the whole time I have lived here I've never been disturbed by noise. In return, I just ask that you are similarly considerate, keeping volume to a reasonable level.
This apartment is located right on the border of Chicago and Evanston in the Roger's Park neighborhood. The area is among the most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods on the North Side of Chicago, with an amazing variety of great food options from just about any area of the world. Additionally, there is a large grocery store directly across the street, which always seems to come in handy for snacks and other travel essentials. Chicago's North Side is well known it's beautiful lakefront and network beaches, which are located just a few blocks to the east. In the warmer months, this is one of my favorite places to spend time. Just north of us is beautiful downtown Evanston, which is filled with great shopping--both recognizable brands and local boutiques--and restaurants to fit any budget or preference. Evanston is also home to Northwestern University, making this a great spot for visiting students or family.

  • Corina’s place is spacious and inviting. The bed was very comfortable. There is a large fully equipped kitchen with a coffee maker and breakfast bar with adjustable stools. Check-in was very easy, and Corina communicated the check-in procedure in plenty of time for our arrival. Parking is available on the street, and we were always able to find a parking space near Corina’s place. My space is very spacious. But this listed room is good for solo adventurers and business travelers. It's a VERY small room for a short stay. Close to the beach, transportation, and connections to everywhere. You will be staying at the melting pot of Rogers Park which is very diverse...per NPR (National Public Radio) people of many countries reside in Rogers Park...culture galore. ***Please read neighborhood description for more info. Also, note you will be asked to send me a copy of your ID.
    Very chill home.
***In regards to the neighborhood as noted in the condo profile, it is very diverse but it’s primarily minorities in this area. I have not had any issues, no one is going to bother you. If you have any issues and feel that you cannot stay due to the neighborhood, please let me know as I do not want anyone staying here feeling uncomfortable. Also did you know that Rogers Park is known as one of the most diverse area to live at? It is :) I hope you enjoy your stay and explore all of the beautiful site, cultures and adventures that Chicago has to offer. If there is anything I can do to help you, let me know.
  • I had a wonderful stay there, very nice and helpful people and super clean place. Barbara is a very nice person, I highly recommend this place for both long and short stays.

  • Barbara is a warm and experienced host, and really knows her neighborhood, which helped me find my way around Roger's Park! The room is quite small as mentioned, but there is plenty of storage to keep you organized during your stay. I appreciated the kitchen and the close location to both lake and L-station.

  • Had a wonderful stay

    Myles2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • I have been at Barbara's place for two weeks. The room is very small (but actually a bit bigger than how it looks on picture), the bed is very comfortable though, the wardrobe is big enough and the place is quite. The kitchen is well equipped with all you need. Bathroom is good too, with a large shower with plenty of hot water. Supermarket and Metro are few minutes walking from the place. With the purple line one can get to Northwestern University in 15 minutes. The red line takes 40 minutes to downtown Chicago. Barbara is a great host, and she makes people feeling at home. I would recommend this place to friends - especially if they are on a budget: the value for money is unbeatable!

    Manuel2019-10-26T00:00:00Z

  • Brian’s place is just lovely! Spotlessly clean and perfectly organized. This is a peaceful and tranquil retreat yet so close to Lake Front, the elevated train, Loyola University and all things I needed. Brian is awesome and seems to think of everything before you need it. The kitchen is wonderful with coffee and milk as well as other breakfast stuff perfectly placed. Everything is just so easy and flows. I feel Blessed to have been given the gift of discovering Greenleaf house!

  • I've enjoyed my stay there. Sparkling clean, spacious common area and provided all the essentials.

  • This location/neighborhood is great; 2 blocks from RED CTA line (30-40mins downtown), dog friendly bars, food options, coffee, and Sunday farmers market! Also one block from Loyola park beach which was great for swimming and dog walks. The fenced backyard, dog policy, and walkable neighborhood was a major pro for us. The common area was clean and decorated nicely. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. Comfy tv room with netflicks etc. access to laundry downstairs. Easy/seemless check in! Highly recommend, you can see the host takes time to make the experience easy, safe, and enjoyable!

    Kelsey2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Good stay for me since I was looking for a warm shower and place to put my head down for a night while passing through town. Communication with staff was quick and thorough, check-in was a breeze, and the room and shared bathrooms were clean and comfortable. I didn't check out the kitchen or laundry facilities but it's nice that those were available. Parking was a crunch though - I arrived at night and ended up parking on the street half mile away. I recommend contacting staff asap if you're struggling with finding parking as they may be able to help.

  • As a lone, female traveler I have stayed in Chicago before and haven’t felt safe- except for this time. The location and check-in was spot on. Elizabeth, though I did not get to meet her was very communicative, following up and checking in with me. Don’t be deceived by the photos this Airbnb is spacious than one might think. I would only say that those with difficulties with steep stairs be aware- the unit is 3 flights up from the ground. Overall, I would come again- it was an adorable flat. Thank you!

Enjoy a rare 3BR apartment w/ 3 queen sized beds. Minutes from downtown Evanston, Northwestern University and the lakefront, enjoy free parking, wifi, 3 TV's, NETFLIX x2. Enjoy the temporarily low price of this comfy, no-frills listing now. Rest assured, as of Dec 2017, we are 1 of only 5 properties inspected for life and safety conditions that are licensed by the city of Evanston as a vacation rental. No need to pretend to by a friend of the owner (not a renter), as many other rentals require.
This is a quaint apartment in an older modest building. It is not luxurious or even very modern. Rather, it is a comfortable, affordable, 2nd floor apartment on a quiet tree-lined street. That being said, we love our home and hope to host others who looking for a no-frills place centrally located amongst Chicago's north side and suburbs. Our family lives 5 minutes away to assist in making your stay enjoyable if needed. This unit has an almost identical layout and grade to our other popular 4.5 star listing titled "Cozy 2BR Apt by NU," except that this listing has 3 bedrooms. Bathroom, bedrooms, and kitchen are very similar. -3 bedrooms each with a comfortable Queen bed, box spring, & TV. -Living room with TV (+Netflix). -for parties of 7+ we also have a fold out single bed for the living room sleeping. PLEASE LET US KNOW PRIOR TO CHECK IN IF EXTRA BED IS NEEDED SO CLEANERS CAN PREPARE FOR YOU. -Air-conditioning window units in summer season. -central heat with thermostat. -Free Internet (strong signal) -Kitchen is fully stocked with microwave, toaster oven, pots, pans, plates, silverware, and glassware. -There is also a hairdryer, body wash and shampoo and conditioner provided. -Gas stove with burners work, but the oven underneath does not light. There is a toaster oven though that works well. -1000sqft. Since everyone's preference for space is different, use your own discretion as to how it applies to your group. While some would feel 1000sqft is too tight for 6-8 people, we have had many groups of 8 that found it just right for them. Please be sure that your reservation reflects your highest guest count during any part of your stay.
It is conveniently located minutes from Northwestern University campus and downtown Evanston. It is 3.7 miles to Westfield Old Orchard Mall (Macy's, Nordstrom, Apple, etc). A 6 minute walk to the 208 bus takes you right there. Also less than 5 miles from Walmart, Marianos Fresh Market and Lincolnwood Town Center Mall, it is another easy bus ride to almost anything one needs. We posted a crime heat map of Evanston and the surrounding areas from City-Data. Much like Chicago's north and west suburbs, Evanston is considered low crime, especially when viewed against most any Chicago area. There are many grocery options nearby. The closest is 7-11 for quick essentials. It is just a 3 minute drive East on Emerson. The cheapest is Food4Less on Main St just a 7 minute drive away. We prefer the new Mariano's on Touhy in Skokie which is 10 minutes away. There is also Whole Foods on Sherman just 6 minutes away in Downtown Evanston. You can pretty easily look up all of these grocers to find one that best fits your preferences.
  • Location is awesome a fair distance from the city with great food near by so you feel at home away from home. Tons of games for friends and family and John consistently checked in to make sure everything was going well and making sure our needs were met. Definitely recommend.

  • This place was amazing and John was a great host.❤️

    Jenine2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Good location and great value! Within walking distance of Downtown Evanston and NU Campus.

    Greg2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and cozy. I felt like i was at home.

    Aisha2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at John’s was great! It’s very clean and you have everything you need at hand. The price is very reasonable for what you get, it is not a fancy stay if that’s what you are looking for, but it is very comfortable and you will have a lot of space! We really liked the fact that is self-check in and check out, and because of that you don’t need to worry about not loosing your key because you just enter your assigned code and that’s it! Very easy and convenient! If you don’t have a car you will have to bear in mind that John’s place is 10 min away from the closest subway station (Foster-red line), and it will take you about 1 hour to get to downtown Chicago unless you catch the express train at rush hours (which will take you in 30 min to downtown). Apart from that, it is a pretty and quiet neighbourhood, John was always available when we needed him and he always provided detailed and helpful information about our stay. Regarding the bits to improve, if you are going with a large group, it may be a bit tricky to cook because there is no table in the kitchen that you can use for that, so you’ll have to be creative and clean as you go! A big thank you to John!

  • John's a great host.

    Marcus2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great! It was like a 5 minute walk from downtown Evanston which turned out much sweeter than expected. The location was just great in general! There was no shortage of communication the host always kept in contact to make sure everything was going well. 10/10 would recommend this place to anyone in the future!

    Will2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is well equipped and there was plenty of space for the 5 of us. Beds were comfortable so was the living room and dining room. There are toys and games for kids at different ages. There is room to unpack your things. It was easy to park the car in the backyard. The apartment is a little rustic so if you are looking for something new and shiny this may not be the right place. A few minor points from improvement: A couple of additional electric sockets in the kitchen and in the other rooms would be have been great. Also a blackout curtain in the bedrooms would be good. John gave all the instructions you'd need. We have not met John but he was communicating all along our stay providing useful information.

This is a visitor dream! You will have an abundant amount of transportation to get you where you want to go at whatever hours of the day. Close to the beach and Culture galore. Restaurant, Beach, Shopping,...a train ride to downtown. Chicago living! **The condo to Northwestern University is about 10min drive, 30 public transportation, 12min biking and 45min walking **The condo to Loyola University is about 6min drive, 22 public transportation, 11min biking and 33min walking
I live very simple with a touch of vintage. I want my guest to always feel at home.
The area is very multi-cultural but the neighborhood is primarily minorities. It's an up and coming area. There have been some bad histories in the area but as with any major cities. I've live in the neighborhood for almost 4 years and have not had any issues. If you are not comfortable with diversity it may not be a good fit for you. There are so much to do in the area. So many restaurants. The train to everywhere is in the same street as the condo. It's a high rate of individuals that struggles with a mix of professionals.
  • This place was great. Barbara was very informative and clearly communicated what was expected of me as a guest in her home. I had a great time during my stay and found the location to be very convenient. I was able to zip around being so close to the red line and major streets such as Sheridan and Howard. Thanks again Barbara! I hope to stay with you again when on business in Chicago.

    Adam2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara's house is great, very clean and organized. She is awesome, easy to communicate, and helpful. I would love to stay for another time.

  • Barbara is a great host! Super welcoming and hospitable. I stayed for 3 months and I really appreciated how comfortable she made me feel. Room has a lot of space and shelving for storage so great for longer term stays.

  • Barbara was a great host! I only stayed for a few days but I had a great experience and would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

    Nic2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara is a wonderful host with a amazing spot. Very thoughtful and kind. Loved the neighborhood and how easy it was to access the train. Its literally at the end of the street!

    Isacc2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • First of all, Barbara is an amazing host who is quite accommodating for her guests. I am not a very picky person and did not make many requests but even then, she still checked in with me to see if everything was alright. She gave me some tips on how to find things to do around Chicago which led me to join ultimate frisbee pickup games. As someone who is pretty introverted, I enjoyed my conversations with her as well. A few things to note: 1. The room can get hot during the summer but this room has a ceiling fan for guests to use and you could open the windows at anytime. I had my own tower fan so I do not know how effective it is. Personally, the heat did not bother me too much and I was still able to sleep comfortably so it depends on how you handle high temperature weather. 2. The doors do not have locks. I have not found this to be a problem for me. I have had several people stay in the other room next door and none of them went into my room to snoop around. 3. A lot of people hang out in the streets during the day but as long as you mind your own business, you should be O.K. Other guests and myself have returned past midnight before with no problems. 4. The only minor issue I have with the condo is that the Wi-Fi can be unstable at times so I had to use more of my cellular data than usual. Perhaps it is better in the common area of the condo but I have not tested it. As of this review, Barbara is looking into how to fix this issue. 4. I met and conversed with a decent amount of people from other countries (Germany, Japan, New Zealand, etc.) who also decided to stay at Barbara's. It was an awesome opportunity to learn about life in other places around the world. 5. The Howard train station is a 3-5 minute walk from the condo so that's very convenient. Traveling to the Loop takes around 35-50 minutes and traveling to Northwestern takes about 20-30 minutes (including the walk from the Foster or Davis station to the university). Overall, I enjoyed my stay in the small room and even though it was my first time in Chicago, Barbara gave me a comforting welcome to the city. 10/10 would stay again.

  • Barbara is a very welcoming and attentive host with a beautiful home. Rogers park is a nice neighbourhood and the L train is in quick walking distance. It takes some time to get to downtown, to the airport and around though, but would definitely recommend this gem if you're not in a rush to get to everything. Did not check out nearby shopping opportunities, but there are plenty in the close proximity, if you need to buy groceries or general goods. Also, check the “Sol Cafe“ when you're there :)

    Jonas2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • I was hesitant after reading a previous review about the neighbourhood being sketchy. I think it's important to acknowledge that the area is diverse and you'll find all manner of people there. If you're uncomfortable with that then it may be better to find a spot elsewhere. With that being said though, the location. Is AWESOME! You're super close to the L train, northwestern uni and you can get pretty much anywhere within around an hour. Barbara is also the nicest host and will go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect during your stay! Definitely recommend

Experience my century-old home where vintage charm meets the modern open space. Distinctive characteristics include a unique natural light design, an earth-tone color palette, a newly renovated bathroom with a walk-in shower, and WiFi. Though the internal structure sports a unique floor plan with ample space for individual privacy, the main bath is shared. Close to downtown Evanston, Northwestern University, and to public transportation. Walking distance to Presence St. Francis Hospital.
Experience my century-old home which offers distinctive characteristics such as an open concept plan, earth-tone color palette, unique natural light design, a newly remodeled bathroom; and free parking on site. The unique floor plan provides ample space for privacy; however, the main bathroom is shared.
Located in the Oakton Historic District, the neighborhood boasts of older homes, multi-dwelling housing, two parks, and an elementary school. The neighbors are friendly, and take great pride with maintaining their homes and yards. Enjoy a walk around the neighborhood, you will meet friendly neighbors, and you'll discover some hidden beauty in architecture, some sustainable initiatives such as perennial gardens with lots of pollinator plants, composting, and a bee-keeper. There are two parks in close proximity to my front door. Walk north about a block and you will discover a basketball court, baseball diamond, and an open field for soccer. For families with young children, just one block east is an open space with a playscape.
  • This is the second time I have stayed at Patricia’s place. I could not be happier. She communicates quickly, has a beautiful home, and is friendly and accommodating. The room is perfect for a long working weekend. It is a 15 minute walk from the purple line and close to a couple of decent restaurants. The neighborhood is pleasant to walk around.

    Jennifer2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Patricia’s beautiful space was warm and inviting. I had long days of study while I was there and it was so comfortable and inviting to come back to. A lovely, comfortable bed, a beautiful bathroom, which, although it was a shared space, did not prove to be problematic at all as Patricia laid out specific guidelines around usage of the room to avoid any issues.

    Jennifer2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Access to the entire house, not just my room. Quiet place. Hostess was very nice and helpful. Highly recommended. Terrific value.

    Richard2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home! Lots of nice touches, clean, comfortable, ample room to store things, desk in room, wonderful host! Shared bathroom didn’t present any problems. Everything was clean and in excellent condition.

    Nancy2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, clean and cozy room. I enjoy talking with the host who is a teacher and knows Friedman. The host has passion for life, decorating her room with many paintings, lamps and stylish furniture. I find many interests in staying her home.

    Shi2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Pat is a wonderful host. She is kind and very accommodating to your needs. The room is very clean and comfortable for the single traveler, for a stay of a few or for many days. Check in is super easy and if you have a car, there is space in the driveway. If, like me, you don't rent a car, her home is just a short walk (~15 minutes) to a CTA purple line station. Very convenient. Wifi is good and the room is much quieter than other reviews have you believe - I mean, the house is in a city, not out in the country. Overall, I highly recommend Pat and her home.

    Samuel2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • There are so many incredible and wonderful things I can say about Pat and her home that I know I won't be able to encapsulate them all here. I will try to cover a few of the highlights though. What stood out the most to me is how kind, considerate, and thoughtful Pat is as a host. She was excellent at communicating and even took the time to call me prior to my arrival. In terms of her hospitality as a host, I would rate her at the very top. She's also a great conversationalist if you have some time to spend chatting with her. The room she hosted me in was perfect: the bed was comfortable and there was desk space for me to work at. Getting into her home was easy too; it had an electronic lock that utilized a keypad. It was my first time to use a lock/keypad code like this before, but Pat gave excellent step-by-step instructions on how to use it. It worked like a charm and allowed me to spend more time with person I had come to visit. I will absolutely be reaching out to Pat if I am in Evanston again.

    Eric2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first time staying in an Airbnb that was not the full place to myself and I had a great experience. Pat was very easy to communicate with, an incredibly sweet and attentive host (without being invasive), and the space was as advertised. I would 100% stay here again and recommend to anyone I know traveling to the area.
