Come and relax at this impeccably clean and calming oasis nearby lake Algonquin. House has lake rights but is not easy approachable and not swimming friendly. Public beach is half mile from house, House features: An abundance of light, an indoor electric fire place, outdoor wood-burning fireplace, fully furnished, washer and dryer, and porch and balcony!
This upstate oasis is located right in Adirondack Park, New York's proud forest preserve, located in Wells, NY. Unlike most preserves, over half of the land is privately owned. The inclusion of human communities makes the park one of the great experiments in conservation in the industrialized world. As a result, you have nature's finest at your disposal. For instance, you can participate in activities such as:skiing at Oak Mountain (located 15 miles away), Gore Mountain (located 28.8 miles away), ice fishing, hiking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, swimming at the public beach Algonquin (located at a 5 min. walk), kayaking, fishing, star-gazing, biking, leaf picking, wild life gazing, horseback riding, and car ice racing on Lake Algonquin in winter time.
  • We had a wonderful weekend at Marina’s home. It was clean and had all we needed for our little get away. We spent time in speculator skiing and oxbow for lunch. We had breakfast at over rock. The home had board games we played. We enjoyed a fire out back on our last nights and enjoyed the beautiful weather. We love this area and will for sure be back again!

  • Marina’s home was a perfect quick retreat for the weekend while we skied at Gore Mountain (~35 min). We felt right at home as soon as we stepped in the door and it was obvious Marina has put a lot of love and care into creating a comfortable and clean space for others to also enjoy. We especially appreciated the high chair and crib and the fact that she is pet friendly. We will definitely be back if we are in the area again! Thank you, Marina!

    Elizabeth2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Marina's place was perfect for a winter weekend getaway. Communication with Marina was easy and she was very accommodating and flexible. The place itself is lovely, very comfortable, clean, and with all the necessary amenities.

  • Marinas house was very well kept. Cozy, home feel. Enjoyed our family trip. We look foward to our future reservation.

  • Great location super clean house :)

  • great place to stay!

    Tomasz2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time in the area and we loved staying at Marina's home. Even though it was quite cold outside, the cabin was warm and had everything we needed. Additionally, Marina had some winter decorations up and board games available which my kids really appreciated. Marina had recommended Oak Mountain which was only about 10 minutes away and we also walked on the interpretative trail in Speculator which did not disappoint for a short walk with kids, in the snow - Marina was gracious and a quick responder and check-in and and check-out were simple and easy. Last but not least, the place was immaculate. We'd absolutely come again.

Authentic log cabin on gorgeous Lake Pleasant. 3 acres of privacy. 2 Kayaks and 2 paddleboards, firepit, grill, binoculars and spotting scope supplied. Lots of wildlife has been seen out front! House sits on 3 acres of wooded lakefront, very private and romantic spot, perfect for one or two couples, or up to 4 friends. Lots of hiking, waterfalls and other lakes in the area.
Classic Log Cabin with total privacy on 3 lakefront acres. Huge wrap around porch and lakeside gazebo for relaxing, bbqing and enjoying the view. The second bedroom is ultra private, it's in a seperate "glamping" cottage with queen bed, chandelier and amazing views. Hiking, kayaking, swimming, boating, waterfalls all out front or nearby. Enjoy that first cup of coffee on the wrap around deck while the song birds welcome in the day, then breakfast on the lakeside gazebo while spotting the beavers, eagles, otters and mergansers frequently seen out front. Kayak or paddle board onto beautiful Lake Pleasant and take a dip in the clear waters. Nightime is for star gazing, roasting marshmallows and telling tall tales around the firepit. 2 sets of binoculars, a spotting scope, 2 kayaks and 2 stand up paddle boards with life preservers are provided. Hiking, road trips, museums, tennis, golf, dinners out and lots of other fun stuff are available nearby...but you may choose to never leave the seclusion of this property. One recent guest told us that "we felt like we were dropped into a fairy tale land". You will have access to 2 cabins. The log cabin has a fireplace, full kitchen, bathroom and sleeping loft with one double and two twin beds. The wrap around porch is furnished with adirondack chairs, dining table, grill, cool night lighting and one truly magnificent view. The second cabin is about 100 feet from the log cabin. This sweet cottage has a luxurious queen bed, chandelier designed for the ultimate "glamping" experience! The view from here is picture perfect. This can be used as your master bedroom or as a luxury second bedroom. We supply nice bedding and linens, bath mats, kitchen and hand towels, but we do ask guests to bring their own beach and bath towels. What's to LOVE about this property? Ultimate Privacy (a rare find on the waterfront!), Views, Wildlife, Cuteness, Uniqueness and Plenty of Room to Roam on and around the property and on the lake. We really do all we can to assure that you will have the ultimate ADK experience here. What might you NOT love? Our lakefront is accessible for launching the kayaks and paddleboards, but is not good for swimming. To swim you take the kayaks down a short path (50 feet) to the lake and swim off of them. There is no washer/dryer here. We do not have a/c (rarely needed), but we do provide fans for those warmer days. Also, RECYCLES are not picked up by the town, so guests must agree to take home your bottles and cans...or you can take them to the recycle center yourselves before you leave which is nearby. Sorry in advance for the hassle, but we can't rent this house without guests taking on that responsibility. Exact instructions found in the cabin. No pets or smoking on property. Due to our close proximity to the lake, we have a sensitive septic system and limited well water. Please be gentle with both. As a result, this property cannot to be used for family reunions, parties or entertaining. No more than 4 people to be here at any time. We just bought and renovated this, so we have very few reviews, but see our other properties for guests experience with us! If this sounds good to you, send an email with your requested dates.
Lake Pleasant is in the Southern Adirondack Mountains, the area is surrounding by other lakes, mountains, hiking and waterfalls. The amazing ADK Museum is a 40 minute drive. Southern ADK's are within driving distance for a weekend away from NYC (4.5 hours), Albany (1.5hrs). This area is the much less touristed than the Lake Placid region, and easier to get to. We supply a complete list of things to do in the area.
  • Beautiful little cabin on the lake. Waking up to the view from the bunk house was breathtaking. The bunk house also has the most comfortable bed! Pillows are really soft so of you have a bad neck and need more support I'd suggest to bring your own. If you want to jump right in the lake and swim this cabin may not be for you because you have to kayak out to swim . But if your like me who enjoys kayaking and scenery it is definitely worth it. She left a list of hiking trails and local favorites and it was so helpful we went to many of the recommended! I would go back a million times ! I will definitely be back.

  • If you are looking for a place to relax and rejuvenate, look no further. Maura and David's cabin is a wonderful getaway for city folks who enjoy being surrounded by nature and quietude. We had such a memorable stay and will surely return. Maura and David are awesome hosts!

    Debbie2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the cabin was relaxing! We spent the day on the kayaks and hiking. Then we spent nights by the fire. The rental looks just like the pictures with a beautiful view! We cooked in for every meal but stopped at Common Grounds Cafe for coffee less than 10 minutes away. I would recommend the hike at Panther mountain via Echo Cliffs Trailhead. The bed in the cabin was a little too small on the first night but the second night in the bunk house was much more comfortable! I would recommend this rental to anyone looking to stay in the area!

    Alicia2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful, beautifully isolated, lovely owner communication. We stayed five nights and enjoyed every minute.

    Valerie2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Maura’s Place was the perfect getaway. I recommend staying in the second cottage at least one night for views of the beautiful sunrise! The Maura’s list of fun things to do was extremely helpful. The hikes and water falls are worth it!

    Sloane2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was absolutely fabulous. Maura was quick to respond with any questions or concerns. We enjoyed watching for wildlife. We saw Eagles, Herons, Hummingbirds, and so much more. My husband and I enjoyed having a separate space from our teenager and the view from the bunkhouse was beautiful. We would definately stay here again.

Welcome to Camp Stardust! Relax in ultimate privacy, rekindle romance and enjoy the great outdoors, wildlife and views from this unique waterfront cabin. TEMPORARY COVID note: so sorry to say that we have suspended all new reservations for March, April and May. Will update as the situation evolves. We are taking reservations beyond that, as we do believe this too shall pass. Be safe.
This is a back to nature experience in an exceptionally comfortable home. Sightings have been otter, beaver, loons, owls, eagles, bear, deer, coyote and a moose has been heard (but not seen - yet). Hiking, kayaking, snowmobiling, downhill and x country skiing nearby. Camp Stardust comes with 4 kayaks and a canoe in warm weather. 2 sets snowshoes in winter. We do get fully booked up here (lots of repeat guests!). If you can't find availability that works for you, please see our other listings, we have 6 rental houses in the area, all unique and very nice. Camp Stardust has 500 feet of private waterfront with dock and boathouse. The sight of the morning fog lifting off the lake is worth the early rise. At night we turn off the lights, turn on the fire and enjoy the refllection of the moon off the lake. Wildlife sightings are a common bonus. This camp has 2 bedrooms, one queen bed, one double. One bath (shower only), an outdoor shower (in the warmer months), indoor propane fireplace, outdoor firepit, full kitchen, weber grill, good wifi, 40" flat screen for DVD's and netflix movies (but no cable). NO CELL service so we have a landline. The reading/tv room has gorgeous views of the lake for those lazy, hazy days. WINTER The inside of Camp Stardust is like being inside a snow globe. It's all windows, so snowstorms are an amazing experience here. A unique feature is that the lake doesn't freeze (it's moving water), so there are water views and wildlife year round. Otters are our favorite. We supply a list of local hikes, ski resorts, snowmobile rentals, restaurants and other attractions. PLEASE NOTE: An all wheel or 4 wheel drive vehicle is necessary to navigate the woodsy driveway from Nov - Apr during snow season. SPRING, SUMMER, FALL: Lots of lakes, rivers and mountains to hike to and explore, or take advantage of our incredible location directly on the best kayaking spot. Kayak 10 minutes to the right to Lake Piseco where you can enjoy a swim in the clear water with sandy bottom. If you are an experienced kayaker, 30 minutes to the left is remote Big Bay Lake - this may require a carry over some rocks dependent on level of water at the time (level changes daily), but that is gorgeous as well. The Boathouse provides very easy access to the 4 kayaks and one canoe, so no need to carry them anywhere. Most of our waterfront is too shallow to swim, but is amazing for kayaking and seeing fish and wildlife. Boats available May 10-Oct 30. MORE ABOUT THIS CABIN This is a no parties, no smoking, no pets, allergy sensitive household. Due to our close proximity to the water, we have limited septic and well capacity, so we have a strict 4 person limit on the property at all times. We do our best to keep a pristine and comfortable home for our guests, we are sure even the most discerning will be happy. This is an exceptionally private, secluded property, however it is not remote. It is easy to get to, we are down a private 200ft dirt driveway directly off Rt 8. There is a small bridge nearby that separates the outlet (where we are) from Piseco Lake, and you can hear (but can't see) the cars going over the bridge, which is the only thing we would change if we could. Our minimum stay varies throughout the year...please send exact dates and we will let you know the policy for that time of year. Rates range from $160 night (midweek off season) to $360 night (weekend in summer). Put dates in to see what the rates are. Housekeeper works Mon and Fri only June through Oct - so all arrivals and departures have to be on one of those days during that time. Winter we are a bit more flexible. Minimum age to rent is 25 years of age unless otherwise approved or with a parent.
Hamilton County was officially designated "Frontier Land" by the Federal Government due to it's vast wilderness and sparse population. It is stunningly beautiful in all seasons with great outdoor exploration opportunities. Piseco has limited entertainment venues - just outdoor beauty, lakes, rivers and mountains. Speculator has shops, grocery, restaurants and is 15 minute drive - still limited however.
  • What a magical place. We loved our four nights at the cabin. Even with a blizzard outside we stayed warm and cozy, staring at the beautiful scenery outside. Maura was very helpful, advising us on how to get there in the snow, and the great communication made check in very easy. We had a great time, especially borrowing the snow shoes and going for a walk through the winter wonderland outside.

  • Idyllic retreat with incredible views and homely touches. Had a fantastic stay.

    Dominic2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Camp Stardust is absolutely perfect! If you are looking to escape society for a few days then this is the place. We expected a nice remote cabin by the lake but what we didn’t expect was how impeccably clean, comfortable and convenient the cabin was! It was stocked with everything from dish soap and utensils to board games and blankets. You do not need to bring anything besides the food you are planning to cook! There is not a store nearby so make sure to bring with you what you plan on eating (we stopped at a Walmart along the way and stocked up on food and drinks) . Our stay was lovely and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a romantic getaway!

    Elma2020-01-16T00:00:00Z

At the center of it all. Across from Camp-of-the-Woods, walk to Town Beach, right off snowmobile trail, near skiing. CLEAN. Full kitchen, full sized washer/dryer, free linens, . . .
Spacious kitchen with Adirondack forest view.
Speculator is the heart of Hamilton County and the gateway to the high peaks. It is just south of the Fulton Chain. Lake Pleasant has the largest sand beach in the Adirondack mountains -- and warm water! Come for the 4th, for the Arts Festival, the Fly-Ins, or the colors. While we are walking distance to everything, we are at the edge of the Hudson Wilderness. North-east from our back door it is 22 miles to the next road. Bring your mountain bike and enjoy the trails. Bring your discs and try out the Oak Mountain disc golf course. Bring your clubs and try the Lake Pleasant Golf Course. Kayak, scooter, and snowmobile rentals are all available in town. For you winter folk, we a mile from Oak Mountain skiing and the neighborhood is on the local Speculator snowmobile trails, with easy refueling in Speculator, and easy access the C4 trail! Also try the cross country ski loop at Watch Hill just north of town. For you business folk, we have good internet. We have cut the cord on "cable TV", but have Sling TV instead.
  • Location was great. Close to everything. Easy check in and out. Great host and look forward to staying again!

  • The Adirondacks are a special place and David’s place is a great way to experience that. Quiet and tucked away yet close to everything....

    Ryan2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • David’s place is set up for guests, even had spare tooth brushes if you forgot yours. Close to Everything, clean with all the amenities needed. David is indeed a super host.

    Ryan2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Airbnb was very large and generously cut. There was really everything you need (towels, fresh linen, kitchen equipment, washing machine, etc.) Everything was very clean and tidy. We felt very comfortable and would book and recommend David's accommodation anytime again. The location in Speculator was perfect for us. In the village you will find all the shops for daily needs in the pedestrian area.

    Miriam2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cozy place conveniently located with gracious hosts! Definitely looking forward to returning!

    Melissa2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • It was very comfortable, like home away from home. The apartment seemed to be newly renovated. The decor was very pleasing to the eye. Communication with David was excellent. All of the appliances were top notch. Loved it!

    Shari2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed a week at David’s place while visiting our daughter who is working at Camp of the Woods. Cabin was much nicer than expected. We enjoyed having a full kitchen and grill to use for making meals. David was kind enough to loan us some chairs so we could enjoy the town beach. Grocery store is close by and convenient. We enjoyed Timberline Cafe for breakfast and lunch. Would recommend this place for those looking to enjoy the beautiful lakes and hiking nearby.

Gorgeous lakefront cabin, has indoor fireplace, outdoor fire pit and a lakeside Sauna. TEMPORARY COVID note: so sorry to say that we have suspended all new reservations for March, April and May. Will update as the situation evolves. We are taking reservations beyond that, as we do believe this too shall pass. Be safe.
Welcome to our Charley Lake cabin in Wells, NY. She's all windows with gorgeous views, sits just feet from the lake. Explore wild and woolly nature outside, enjoy modern comforts inside. Amenities include an indoor wood fireplace, outdoor firepit, lakeside sauna, chefs kitchen, outdoor BBQ, boats and snowshoes. Great hiking, waterfalls, swimming, kayaking, skiing, snowmobiling, and simply chilling found here. Must be over age 25 to rent unless with parent. Sleeps 6, but is the perfect romantic getaway for two. You may experience the sight and sounds of the loons, eagles, mergansers, owls and heron that live on this lake. Coyotes sometimes heard off in the distance. If you are interested in more action, 15 minutes in either direction will take you to the surrounding towns which have ski resorts, live music, restaurants, bigger lakes, more hiking, tennis, basketball, playgrounds, beaches and some stunning waterfalls. SUMMER the beachfront is perfect for a swim, kayak, canoe, or stand up paddle (we provide all 3). The cabin comes with a Weber charcoal grill, full chefs kitchen with Viking gas stove and convection oven, dishwasher and quality pots, pans and dishes. High speed internet and a landline provided (no cell service here). Large flat screen TV for Netflix movies - but no cable. We come here to get away from the news. WINTER is magical up here! Lots of snow, very private as we are the only house open in winter on this lake. Snowmobile directly from the house onto hundreds of miles amazing trails. Ice fishing out front is best in the area. Downhill ski, tube, dine or listen to live music at much loved local Oak Mt ski resort, or for more of a challenge head to Gore, 40 minute drive. World class x country skiing found at Lapland Lake, or simply take one of the many trails through the woods or glide across the lake. The new six person sauna is perfect after a dip in the lake or roll in the snow. Beautiful lake view from inside the sauna. What's to LOVE? The house is full of charm, is all windows, eco friendly and kept in immaculate condition so that even the most discerning will be pleased. You will enjoy nice privacy for a waterfront home (totally private in winter), a peaceful lake view and easy lake access 15 feet from the deck. We supply detailed lists of where to go and what do to in the area, and the house is well stocked with many of those little things you'd have at home, to make your stay easy and breezy - just bring food and we do ask you to bring your own towels. What might you NOT Love? The well water contains naturally occurring iron, which creates a slight yellow color, but is perfectly healthy. As a result, there is no washer/dryer here or all our sheets would turn yellow. There is NO cell service here. We have a landline and wireless internet. Also - this is a very quiet lake. In warmer weather residents are in bed by 9PM or so and leave windows open at night. Sound carries across water, so everyone must be relatively quiet or it disturbs our neighbors. Loud noise, outdoor music, drunken behavior or inappropriate language WILL cause problems and subject guests to eviction and fines. We provide nice quality linens for the beds, bath mats and kitchen towels, but ask guests to please bring own bath, sauna and beach towels. There is a laundromat down the road a bit. RECYCLES: are a true hassle here, we have to take them to the dump, they are not picked up by the town. Our housekeeper simply cannot handle this task if large amounts are left, so our rule here is similar to camping - if you brought it in, plan to take it out. This is a non smoking, no parties, no pets (no exceptions - sorry!), allergy free home. No more than 6 persons, including children. All guests must be 25 years of age unless accompanied by a parent, or unless otherwise approved. All guests must agree to follow house instructions and sign our lease. Not appropriate for groups of 5 or 6 singles (there are 4 beds only - couch is not to be used for sleeping). Again - not a good place for noisy groups or a drinking fest.
This house is relatively remote - very quiet - in winter you would be the only ones on the lake. It is a mountain top lake, very private in winter, mostly summer residents only. We have been coming to this area our entire lives, so we supply complete list of where to hike to see waterfalls, skiing, antiquing, snowmobiling, etc.
  • This is a beautiful home that is clean, comfortable and full of amenities. It sits right on the lake and the view out the windows is delightful. The sauna is awesome. We just had a great time here.

  • Everything was great and exactly as described. Maura gives great suggestions for things to do in the area. It snowed for 3 of the 5 days we spent in the cabin but the roads and driveway were cleared quickly so that it was easy to travel. The fireplace keeps the entire cabin warm even when the temperature outside falls below zero degrees. We loved our time in the cabin and the time we spent exploring the area. Maura is a great host! Can not wait to make it back to this cabin in the future.

    Robert2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing getaway! This is our 2nd year visiting and we can’t wait to come back next year!

    Amanda2019-12-10T00:00:00Z

  • Excellent getaway! We had a fantastic stay and really enjoyed our time here. Super clean and well organized. Great amenities. Really comfortable! We loved the canoe and kayak and paddle board and local hikes. But i can see how this place would be beautiful and fun in the winter as well. We’re very much looking forward to coming again sometime! Beautiful cabin situated in the heart of the Adirondacks. Access to Indian Lake, kayaks available for your use. Breathtaking fall foliage. Multiple hiking trails nearby, close to Adirondack Museum. All of our guests have visited again! Sleeps four adults, or two adults and up to 4 children.
Newly remodeled. Clean. One private bedroom, one open loft with two twin beds and one futon. Hardwood floor throughout. Movie collection to keep you entertained and plenty of firewood for those chilly fall nights.
Quiet association situated on Indian Lake.
  • Wonderful in every respect.

  • Lovely and cozy cabin in an excellent, quiet location in the Adirondacks! Tacey was really quick with communication and even mailed back an item we forgot behind. Great stay.

  • This house was just PERFECT! Perfect for a weekend in family. Big house with activities around. Tacey answered all the questions very fast. Super clean.

  • Amazing place to explore Upstate New York’s nature and Adirondack. Tracey is a great host. A very nice touch is letting us use the kayaks on the lake. Would definitely love to come back again

    Vadim2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Tracey's place was amazing. My two friends and I decided to have a girls weekend in the Adirondacks. I booked this place last minute, two days before arriving. Once we arrived we were in shock of how beautiful the home was. The pictures do not do this place justice! The cabin was gorgeous and sparkling clean. Everything was renovated. We enjoyed the large kitchen for cooking together. We also enjoyed how comfortable the living room was for a movie night. The home comes with a large variety of DVDs. We were only about a minute walk to Indian Lake. We spent one of the days enjoying the provided paddle boards and kayaks on the gorgeous lake. I also forgot an item at the home, and Tracey has been kind enough to mail it to me. I definitely recommend staying here.

    Justina2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautifully designed, upscale Adirondack-style home with many charming, thoughtful details. The two of us loved the twig-style log staircase as well as the handsome modern kitchen (fun to cook in!). Seating areas inside are comfortable and full of woodsy touches that were fun to study. The long dining room table is great for eating or even reading at. The porch chairs were our favorites for reading outside at any time of day. The wood paneling in the bedroom and all over the house really suits the area. On the practical side, It was great to have the powder room and convenient laundry facilities downstairs. It’s a very short walk to the lake and the kayaks (great to have these), too. Tacey is a wonderful, responsive host before and during a stay. Blue Mountain Lake and the terrific Adirondack Experience Museum are nearby, along with many hiking opportunities. We shopped for food at the Tops in North Creek on our way to Tacey’s, but if you forget any other supplies, Pines General Store in Indian Lake will likely have them. All in all, this is a lovely base for the area.

  • Tacey's house is a lovely, upscale renovation with a great kitchen, gathering spaces and amazing front porch & fire pit, each with 4 Adirondack chairs. We cooked numerous nights on the front porch grill and had a fire in the fire pit nightly. There is just one bedroom plus a sleeping loft with several single beds and a futon. The location within a small lake community is convenient and has easy access to Indian Lake from the dock. We swam & kayaked from the dock and it couldn't have been more pleasant. The little town has basic conveniences and the access to countless hiking trails is perfect. The road noise from Route 30 is a little distracting at times but overall not a big deal. We highly recommend Tacey's house. Tacey was super responsive and a pleasure to work with.

  • They are, actually, SUPER HOSTS in every sense of the words. The space is so cozy, and John and Caroline have thought of every detail to make the stay warm and inviting. They both took time to show us their studio(s) and artwork, which made the experience of staying on their property feel more personal. We will definitely go back again.

  • Amazing hospitality. The place was gorgeous and the property wonderful. Very talented people.

    Ashleigh2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at John and Caroline’s Studio C for 2 nights for our weekend skiing trip to Gore Mountain. It was hands down our best Airbnb experience! John and Caroline were very thoughtful and helpful for our stay, providing many useful local tips. The Studio is very spacious, comfortable and clean, and not to mention artistically decorated. John and Caroline also made a point to meet and greet us in person, and to make sure we had everything we needed. We even got to tour their working studios - truly fascinating. We look forward to visiting them again if we are in the area.

    Yingxi2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time staying at John and Caroline's artist retreat, and we still love it. It is just as cozy as last year and good place to relax and enjoy nature. We appreciate all the local advice and tips that were given us, which makes it even better.

    Matt2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Obsessed with studio C.. the place is beautiful and very relaxing. No complaints ☺️ I will definitely be returning.

    Janelle2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place will not disappoint. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights to destress and we did exactly that. We enjoyed the trip, and staying in this art studio was like living in luxury.

    Patrick2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • John and Caroline are gracious hosts with a beautiful property. Caroline gave us a warm and interesting tour of their studios. The apartment was spacious and clean.

    Thomas2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • We spent Thanksgiving at John and Caroline's place and I assure you we will be returning! What a lovely, restful, peaceful, tastefully designed space. Studio C rejuvenated us both and even though we were only there for a long weekend, we felt as if we had a full week's break from the rat race. The place is spacious and comfortable. The bed is perfect. The studio is so quiet. The lighting is soft and relaxing. The artwork creates a lovely atmosphere inside. The stunning sculptures outside are mesmerizing. It is the perfect getaway. Caroline and John put a lot of effort into making this space special. It is fully appointed with so many thoughtful touches like a French press (in addition to a coffee maker), and comfortable slippers! There are a lot of hiking trails nearby which are identified in a guide book that is kept in the studio. We managed to hike to Auger Falls, despite the icy conditions (we visited at the end of November), and enjoyed a walk around the lake as well. We definitely want to return in the summer as there is so much to do in the area including swimming in the river that runs by the property. We were fortunate that Caroline and John had time to let us tour their studios and to explain the inspiration behind the sculptures throughout the property. They are both exceptional artists, internationally renowned, with work featured in large public spaces in several countries as well as throughout the United States and in private homes. (But they're humble and we didn't realize just how masterful they are until we toured their studios and looked at their published accomplishments.) It was a privilege to get to know them and it's always heart-warming to meet interesting and inspirational people. Needless to say they are wonderful hosts who made us feel immediately at home. All communication before we arrived was excellent. John sent all the details we needed to easily find their place and to plan where to eat and what to do. If you are creative yourselves, bring along a taste of your work to leave in the basket in the studio. It was so much fun, and interesting, to look through the books and music that other guests have produced and shared. We highly recommend this place without any hesitation. Thank you, Caroline and John, for adding to the lovely bit of peace we've tucked away in our hearts.

Dizzying views of the Hudson River! Sweet cabin modest in scale, simple and pure to not detract from the richness of the views, offering a fresh, invigorating sense of “just what is needed, nothing more.” The cabin was designed and hand crafted by its owner in 2017. The rugged primitive siding was harvested from on-site cedar trees; the knotty pine interior was locally sourced. Friends gifted a claw foot tub and historic farm house sink. Enjoy a hot tub experience in our new Japanese spa!
The living room offers incredible views of the Hudson River and the meadow below. There are leaded glass windows in the bay window, a large comfortable vintage sofa and simple decorations. The bedroom offers a queen bed with duvet covers and beautiful east facing views of the Hudson River. There is an antique vanity with vessel sink, antique oriental rugs and Asian artwork. The bathroom has a claw foot tub with shower hoop and glass vessel sink. There is plenty of hot water, towels and soap. The kitchen is fully stocked with stove, fridge, microwave and sink. There are beautiful copper pans to cook with, plates, glasses and silverware. This beautiful cabin is located hundreds of feet above the Hudson River and offers dizzying views and great privacy. The cabin is not set a top the highest point of the land, where it would be fully exposed, but partway down, allowing the woods behind to form privacy and to shelter the house. Gaze out at the wildness of the site from a sheltered spot. Enjoy spectacular views of the Hudson River, a cedar forest and wildflower meadow. There is a fire pit with Adirondack chairs. We provide dry firewood and kindling for our guests. Stargazing at night is amazing as there is no light pollution. Enjoy a hot tub experience! Built within a beautiful Japanese temple-like structure on one of the most beautiful spots of our land, our all natural no-chemical hot tub is a delightful way to start your morning, relax after hiking or winding down after dinner. Available for a private experience for $25 for an hour of wonderful relaxation. Let us know if you would like to book. Join us for wood-fired pizza! On the upper portion of our land off Cemetery Road, we have a wood fired pizza oven. Here’s how it works. We make and provide the dough, and guests bring their own toppings. We fire up the wood-fired pizza in the late afternoon. By six, the wood fire has died down and the oven is about 800 degrees. From six to seven-thirty, guests come to the pizza pavilion with their toppings and we help them cook their pizzas. Because the oven is so hot, the pizzas cook in about three minutes. Lots of fun! Requested of donation of $8 ($5 for children) for firewood, dough and maintenance, please. Let us know if you plan to join us. Summers are wonderful with cool mountain breezes, nearby lakes and the Hudson River to swim, bathe or fish in. Fall is glorious with all the trees turning color. As for things to do in the area, there is white water rafting in the beautiful clean Hudson River right at the bottom of our hill offered by various kayaking companies, hiking spots galore, a nearby gorgeous completely undeveloped lake called 13th Lake, dining in North Creek or nearby Garnet Hill Lodge and great daytrips to nearby Lake George, Blue Mountain Lake, Lake Placid and such. A great deal of thought and energy went into planning this cabin. Like a tree grabbing a roothold in the slope, reaching down for water and minerals and arching up toward the available sunlight, a house must begin and grow from its site. When the design of a house has grown out of the uniqueness of the site, it will seem as natural and as integral a part of the whole as trees are a part of the forest. When the house becomes a part of the land, the site can be fully inhabited. This property is located at the end of a quiet country road and abuts forty acres of land owned by your host where we offer glamping tents and two other cabins. Please take a look at these listings and reviews to get a better sense of what we offer. The property is an easy scenic drive up 87 from NYC. If you arrive late, the house will be unlocked and lights on for you. MORE HISTORY: Since 1910, my family has owned 8 acres of land on the upper part of the land. When my great-grandparents built the original camp (Bird Camp), there were gorgeous views looking all the way down to the Hudson River. Then when people stopped owning grazing animals, and as it then became expensive to keep the meadows mowed, the trees grew up and the views were all lost. When 32 acres of land below us became available several years ago, with financial help from my brother, I purchased the land and over several winters, I had the property strategically logged to open up again the beautiful south and east facing views of Gore Mountain, Moxon Mountain and the Hudson River below. Originally I intended to return to my former business life I'd led downstate and to build vacation homes for sale. As things have worked out, my plan now is to build simple beautiful rental cabins and retain the property for retirement income, and so that I might leave an income producing estate to my daughters. I had an amazing winter of 2016 and 2017 building this camp. By December, the framers had completed the structure, the windows were in and I was able to keep warm with temporary heat all winter as I spent months happily finishing the inside of the "camp."
Camp HudsonView is located at end of a road which comes through a quiet existing neighborhood. Please drive slowly.
  • The cabin is spacious for two people, with everything you could possibly need for a great weekend. The view from behind the cabin where the firepit is even more beautiful than the pictures. Leslie was great at communicating with us, and brought us more campfire supplies when we needed it. We loved our stay!

    Rebecca2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this place is amazing. The beauty outside is matched by the shabby chic/cabin and decor. Was surprised how close the neighboring cabin was, but it was so quiet it didn't matter. And, what a perfect place to step away from the chaos of every day life. Perfect getaway for adults, and dog approved too! Hosts made everything easy. Peaceful, soul cleansing...just perfect.

    Carey2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful views and cozy beds. Perfect to visit during fall.

    Myra2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Leslie was a wonderful host. We had car trouble the first morning we were there and Leslie came right down to help us out. Yummy pizza and adorable dog! The cabin had a stunning view and the hot tub was very relaxing. Only wish we could have stayed longer than two nights.

  • Magical and beautiful. So happy I got to stay here in the perfect fall weather right when the leaves change. I would LOVE to stay here again and recommend this place to all friends.

  • Perfect all around for a peaceful, woodsy-vibe getaway. Hudson Rviver, Hiking, great amenities... Leslie is a wonderful host!

    Allie2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for somewhere to take in the Adirondacks look no further! Our cabin was perfectly situated with a stunning view of the Hudson River out our windows. The cabin was perfectly outfitted with everything we needed, including our own bonfire pit and overlooking the ‘Dacks with plenty of wood. While food in the area is less than expected, turns out you don’t need to go ANYWHERE for dinner at all. Leslie makes the most delicious pizzas in her homemade wood fired oven. Just remember to pick up a few choice ingredients to throw on when you are heading in and you’ll be all set! (We brought cherry tomatoes, broccoli rapini, fresh dill, and peppers 🤙🏻) Last but not least it’s a must to reserve the Cedar Spa after a day of hiking. Nothing feels better than slipping into the warm water and letting it all melt away! Such a lovely place to stay in a beautiful setting with a fantastic host. Wouldn’t pass it up!

Lovingly restored historic Adirondack Bird Camp is surrounded by wildflower meadows with beautiful mountain views. Located on family compound of glamping tents and unique cabins. Wildflower meadows to wander, a private firepit for star gazing and just down the road from beautiful 13th Lake. Enjoy a hot tub experience (summers only) in our new Japanese temple-like spa! Most nights in summer we offer wood-fired pizza. Close to rail biking, whitewater rafting and the town of North Creek.
Lovingly restored by the great-granddaughter of the original owners, this unique historic cabin still retains many original details and decorations. Many visitors say they feel like they’re stepping back in time. There are lovely leaded glass windows, a handsome rustic stone fireplace, richly stained wood walls, beautifully faded oriental rugs and original china. There is a tidy new country kitchen with reclaimed porcelain sink, new gas stove, fridge, microwave, dishes and utensils. Upstairs are two bedrooms each with a double bed, wide pine floors, and country décor. And at last --- after 100 years of our relatives using an outside “privy” back when this was just a summer “camp”, we have a bathroom -- clawfoot tub with shower hoop and beautiful vessel sink on original ladies wash vanity. Towels and soaps provided. The bathroom window offers the best view of the mountains. There are treasured family hand-me-downs as well as odds and ends which nobody felt comfortable throwing away. Like all family camps, there are bits and pieces of everyone who came before; wooden floors record the scuffs and scratches of generations. There are many photographs showing life at “camp” since the turn of the century. All this gives this Adirondack cottage its own special personality, a unique sense of space --- a treasury of feelings, sensations and memories of family and friends. The house sleeps four to six comfortably: there are two bedrooms each with double beds. On the glassed in porch is a single bed and there is a sofa in the living room. The land is truly spectacular. In summer, wildflower meadows spill down the hill, flanked by beautiful forests. We welcome your well-behaved dog as long as he or she stays OFF the furniture, isn't left alone in the house and stays on leash to protect our chickens and ducks. The Hudson River is at the bottom of our little mountain. In the spring, summer and fall, there is white water rafting for reasonable rates. You can also rent a tube and float down river (the nearby rafting company can rent you the tubes, then pick you up and then bring you back). Of course, the river offers fishing, bathing or just a great place to sit by and think. We have a happy lab dog Sammy who enjoys spending time with our guests. We have free ranging chickens (get some eggs from the henhouse) and sweet waddling ducks. Most nights in the summer, we offer wood fired pizza. Here’s how it works. Requested of donation of $8 ($5 for children) for firewood, dough and maintenance, please. So make time to get away! It’s an easy scenic drive from NYC --- just go north right up Route 87, get off just past Lake George and then a beautiful 30 miles through the mountains to our place. If this cabin is booked, take a look at our cabins and glamping tents.
We have about 40 acres of land, much of cleared with amazing views, also pristine woods, a spring fed pond. There are several cottages on our property for rent and we can accommodate larger groups. We call ourselves the North River Hobby Farm. The area is very safe ... no bears, no weird neighbors and no ghosts in the historic cemetery next door.
  • A wonderful experience. Quiet, relaxing, and peaceful. Loved the claw foot tub, the bed was comfy and the fireplace is charming and was fully stocked with wood. It was raining so I didn’t spend time outside, but the grill and outdoor fire looked like it would have been great. And I LOVED the Japanese hot tub. Definitely book it each night you stay. Fabulous!

  • Charming cabin in a beautiful, quiet setting. Leslie is a fantastic and interesting host and she makes a great pizza. Lots to do nearby, you are not far from hiking or kayaking. Cabin is clean, and genuinely rustic. Lots of old family photos, books, board games and VHS tapes to keep you occupied if you don’t want to be outside. And probably more importantly, no cellular (Verizon) service so you can actually unplug and relax for once. My wife and I had a great time and will definitely return.

    Jason2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was very much off the beaten path, and that was the best part. At night you could see every star in the sky. The personal touches with the original pictures being in the house were really interesting. The property is beautiful, and I really hope to stay again someday.

    Courtney2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Magical location. Great mix of private space with easy access to some really special shared amenities. The Japanese hot tub and pizza oven were both especially memorable. My young daughter loved feeding our food scraps to the friendly roaming chickens. Located within close diving distance to lots of outdoor adventures. A real retreat and escape from City living. A summer highlight!

  • What a fun experience somewhere between camping and staying in an inn/hotel. Leslie's Hobby Farm is a real delightful place. We stayed in Bird Cabin one night, then Glamp Bernice the next. Both were unique and enjoyable, but I think we preferred the tent! We enjoyed (more than we expected) meeting the other guests, sharing pizza toppings and wine, sitting by the fire making s'mores, sleeping in the tents (or cabins) on a cool evening, and the beautiful setting of the farm. A highlight was waking up at 1 am and sitting out under the brilliant night sky, seeing the milky way and shooting stars. Kayaking at 13th Lake was also a highlight. Leslie and Emmeline think of everything and make the stay an enjoyable experience for everyone. We were even sent home with lavender bags and fresh peaches! We'll definitely be back. August 2019

  • A quiet spot with a beautiful pollinator field filled brimming with activity.

    Michael2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Leslie's farm and the Camp Bird house we rented provided our family of 4 a home away from home. Our girls loved Sammie and the chickens. Pizza was delicious. Hot tub superb. Leslie is an easygoing and highly responsive host. Camp Bird provided us with just enough privacy and utter Adirondacks quiet that my wife and I needed. Day trips to Revolution Rail, 13th Lake for canoeing and swimming, Garnet Hill Lodge for dinner, North Creek for town items, Schroon Lake for beach time, and Adirondacks Extreme for tree climbing obstacle courses were easy.

Welcome to our Lakefront Cottage on Lake Algonquin in Wells, NY. Enjoy stunning views of the lake and mountains from this sweet cottage. Favorite activities include fishing off the dock, kayaking and swimming from the private lakefront. GREAT hikes and waterfalls nearby. Sleep up to 6 but this is the perfect romantic getaway for two. Grill your meals, sit by the firepit and watch for shooting stars at night. Watching the fog lift off the lake in the AM is worth the early rise.
Great for families or small groups looking for a QUIET retreat...sound travels easily across lakes, so if you are a noisy group this is not for you...we have promised our neighbors they will not be disturbed by music or loud yelling from our guests. This is a family camp that is kept clean and in great shape, but is not brand new, so the rates are reasonable despite the killer location. The views are some of the best in the area, this is direct waterfront with dock, boats and fire pit. We have many who come back every year...hope you will too! A favorite room is the screened in porch for enjoying meals or playing cards late into the evening. Very large lawn for hanging out, dock and boats provided for swimming and exploring the lake. We supply detailed descriptions of hikes and waterfalls for our guests - many took us years to find - so you will have access to all those special spots that we love so much. The Cottage has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed, the other has a double bed and custom made bunk beds the kids will love. Sleeps 6 people max here in a total of 4 beds. Living room has a wood fireplace, there is an outside fire pit (wood provided), fully equipped kitchen (which was just renovated, do not have new pictures up yet), gas grill, washer/dryer, dock, row boat, FIVE kayaks, Wifi, Netflix and a 55 inch flat screen (but no cable). The large lawn is a great spot to hang out, has large picnic table, adirondack chairs, a dining table, weber gas grill and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and enjoying the star lit sky at night. There are numerous hikes for both beginners and the more athletically talented in this area, some beautiful local waterfalls, fishing right off our dock or on nearby rivers, free tennis, basketball courts and public beach in town. We provide quality linens (but not towels) and many other necessities to make your stay easy. Things like coffee filters, paper towels, spices...they are all here. Just bring your swim suits, bath and beach towels and hiking shoes. This has been our family home for 60 years, there are updates (like new bathroom and kitchen), but for the most part this remains a camp, albeit a very clean and well maintained one, with all the rustic charm that you might expect in an older home. Best things about the house? The waterfront location, the amazing view, comfy beds. The sight of the fog lifting off the lake while enjoying that first cup of coffee in the morning still takes our breath away. Things we would change if we could? There is a boat launch next door - doesn't get much action (this is a very sleepy lake), but on a busy summer weekend you might be watching a few boats coming and going. Also RECYCLES are a real hassle here. Guests must agree to take their recycles home if they bring a lot - a few can be left (less than 1 bag of them) but you must agree to follow the towns strict recycle rules - they must be kept clean and separate from garbage. We (i.e. the housekeeper) then have to take them to the dump and separate them into bins by hand. We simply cannot handle this task if large amounts are left. So - our general rule here is like camping, if you bring a lot in, you must agree to take them out! This is 4 hrs from NYC, 1.5 hrs from Albany, 1 hr from Saratoga and Lake George. No smoking, no pets (no exceptions, sorry!), no parties here, no loud music or late night outdoor partying. This is a great spot to find some peace and quiet, and our neighbors feel the same way. So, if this works for you, we'd love to have you! Rates quoted are for two persons, $10 fee per additional person per day, this includes children. Six persons max, no exceptions to that either, sorry! All adult guests must agree to read and sign our lease, and to follow the house instructions. Guests must be aged 25 or older if not with parent.
No Tourists, Quiet, Peaceful. Can do a daily walk around the lake, it's 3.5 miles. There is a town beach, playground, basketball and free tennis courts. The Southern Adirondacks are a rugged, very scenic area of the Adirondack Park, just 4 hours from NYC. This area is close enough for a weekend away, but seems like it's a thousand miles away. We are surrounded by lakes, mountains, waterfalls and beautiful drives. Most surrounding towns are relatively small, each has their charm and personality. Within an hours drive you can find more action and culture - try Saratoga Springs, Lake George or Lake Placid (2 hours). What to do here? Relax. Enjoy nature and wildlife. Drink in the views. Swim in the Lake. Breathe in the clean air. Go on hikes. Sit by a waterfall. Read 10 books. Kayak. Birdwatch. Antique. BBQ. Play tennis with a lake view. Look for bald eagles. Picnic. Sleep. Laugh. Play cards. Enjoy.
  • Lovely stay at a quiet cottage in a scenic location next to a beautiful lake and mountain. The perfect getaway and just what the doctor ordered!

  • A charming, well appointed and cozy cabin on a beautiful lake with abundant activities both at home and out and about. Maura is a great host with clear, prompt and precise communication. Highly recommended.

    Finn2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was perfect for us! The location was great with wonderful "ideas of things to do list" and availability for kayaks & firewood for fires in the evening. We really loved our time together in this cabin!

  • The Cottage on Lake Algonquin is definitely a jewel of a place for a fall leaf-peeping trip! We found it to be a great home base to day trip to Lake George, Cooperstown-National Baseball Hall of Fame-, and all the charming rural towns in every direction. On a couple of rainy days we enjoyed binge watching Netflix and staying cozy by the wood stove. We took advantage of the john boat and rowed across the lake on a picture perfect day! Appreciated the hiking trail directions and especially enjoyed the Pine Orchard Hike. Maura and David are great hosts, quick to respond to any questions while respecting your privacy :) The wifi service is great and the house is well equipped to make you feel at home! I imagine the area is quite busy in the summer months but very laid back in the fall season. Thank you for sharing your cottage and allowing us to experience a long awaited fall foliage trip! ~ Michele

  • Thoroughly enjoyed our three-day stay at this place on the lake. The house felt like home and we loved the screened-in porch. We hiked some of the local trails and spent a a good amount of time kayaking on the lake.

    Arleen2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • We especially enjoyed the screen porch overlooking the lake and the wood stove in the living room. The cabin was cozy and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. We'd love to stay again.😊

This is the place for a wonderful, relaxing retreat. You’ll be pleasantly surprised when you open the door to your stay. It’s beautiful Adirondack decor is very welcoming and you will be very impressed with the sparkling cleanliness of this stay. Relax and enjoy all the comforts of home with WIFI, ATT and Verizon cell service, Great Room, Office area, Loft/Balcony/Meditation area, a deck area with a grill, and a separate area with a fire pit all with the river and mountain view’s.
We are very close(3 miles)to the trailhead of the south end of the Northville Placid Trail. We are six miles from Lapland Cross Country Ski Resort, a very enjoyable center offering snowshoeing and cross country skiing. We, also, have many hiking trails available within 10 minutes to an hour away. We are also a short trip away from the Revolution Rail in North Creek, google that it’s an awesome day trip.
This property is on a 7 mile dead end road. It offers great walks, runs, bike rides and drives down the road. It has a small waterfall which is a highlight of any journey down it.
  • Betty's place is warm and welcoming (as she is) with an Adirondack design focus. We stayed at her house because it was close to a cross country ski resort that we love to go to. And we were greeted with some perfect snowy skiing conditions...the best of the season! The house was so accommodating for us to get a break from our busy lives, relax and renew our bones and souls. The kitchen is awesome for cooking having great appliances, cooking tools and supplies. The house was immaculate and the creative Adirondack woodwork and furniture throughout was totally delightful. We would definitely love to return.

    Kathleen2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Betty’s place is good-sized and clean, with a large, well equipped kitchen, a good heating system, and solid WiFi. We stayed there while skiing at Lapland Lake, and it was a great choice. Betty is a lovely hostess- fast to respond and she even left my husband and I each a muffin!

    Becky2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Betty's cabin is ideally situated for a ski vacation, and when it was too warm for skiing we enjoyed a nice walk along the beautiful river. It is spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully decorated, and had every amenity we needed. Our kids loved exploring the upstairs sleeping area and sitting out on the stair landing, and were also delighted to discover the couch recliners and discover interesting bits of decor. The kitchen was well provisioned with all we needed to cook our meals, and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed our stay, and would recommend the space for anyone vacationing in that region!

    Shira2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • The view was amazing and very relaxing. The whole house was super clean and the decorations were great. They quickly helped my wife and I when we got stuck in the snow. The house was very roomy and cozy. Betty left dinner and local activity options for us upon arrival. We were given our privacy the entire stay. We definitely hope to go back soon. Highly recommend this place to anyone. You will not regret it.

  • Betty’s cabin is a great spot for a cozy getaway. It was clean, comfortable, and good value. There were some really nice waterfall and fire tower hikes nearby. Betty was an incredibly kind host, was flexible on checkout and extremely helpful when we had some car troubles. Overall, would highly recommend Betty’s cabin!

    Seth2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Bettys place was amazing, had the perfect feel we were looking for being in the mountains. Cozy, close to a bunch of great hiking trails/scenic views. Town has good food. She was very responsive and informative. We will definitely be coming back.

At the edge of a wildflower meadow with mountain views, this beautifully furnished glamping tent has a king-size water bed, sofa and private deck. Each tent has a kitchenette in the Lodge. There is a sweet new Bath House. Enjoy wood-fired pizza and our new all natural wood hot tub. Get fresh eggs from our henhouse. 40 acres of meadows, woods, pond, streams and trails. Nightly bonfires, star gazing, a nearby lake and rafting in the Hudson River below. Golf cart service to your tent.
We have four glamping tents, Glamp Richard, Glamp Suzanne, Glamp Bernice and Glamp Thomas which are spaciously set apart for privacy yet an easy walk to the Bath House and the Lodge where each glamping tent has its own kitchenette. The tents have a “fly” over them so they stay remarkably cool during the day and completely waterproof. At night, zip up the canvas windows and doors, and stay cozy under handmade feather quilts. The new Bath House has a women’s side with two toilets, a shower and double vanity with glass vessel sinks; ditto for the men’s side. In the nearby Lodge, there is also a lovely new bathroom with an old-fashion claw foot tub where you can enjoy a deep bath with lavender salts. We provide nice towels and soap. In the Lodge, there are individual kitchenettes for each of our four glamping tents. It has a sink, one burner cooktop, coffee maker, compact refrigerator, dishes, cutting board, glasses, utensils, napkins and basics of salt, pepper, sugar. Bring your own coffee and cream. There are open shelves for you to store your groceries. Outside are several charcoal grills and a gas grill. We provide charcoal and lighter fluid. We spent the fall and winter of 2019 building an amazing all natural cedar hot tub. Located on one of the most beautiful spots of our land, our new Japanese wood hot tub is a delightful treat for our guests. Built within a small post and beam temple-like structure with gorgeous views of the mountains beyond and wildflowers below, our spa tub is a wonderful way to relax during your stay. $25 for an hour’s retreat of happiness. Most nights in the summer, we offer wood fired pizza. Here’s how it works. We make and provide the dough, and guests bring their own toppings. We fire up the wood-fired pizza in the late afternoon. By six, the wood fire has died down and the oven is about 800 degrees. Starting around six o’clock and ending about eight, guests come to the pizza pavilion with their toppings and we help them cook their pizzas. Because the oven is so hot, the pizzas cook in about three minutes. Lots of fun! Oh, most toppings should be sautéed in advance since the cooking time in the oven is so short. (Requested donation of $8 / $5 for children to cover costs of firewood, dough, etc). At dusk, we get the bonfire going so guests can relax in hand-built Adirondack chairs to watch the fire and the stars. There is no “light pollution” so it is an amazing experience to see thousands of stars, night clouds, moonscapes. Enjoy getting your breakfast eggs from the henhouse. Our flock of chickens and ducks are fun to watch as they free range all over the property. The ducklings enjoy it when there is fresh water run into their little swimming pool --- they are so joyous when they’re in water. The ducks are sweet but shy away from people (oh no! humans!). Unlike the chickens that wander all day and come back together to the coop only to sleep, the ducks are co-dependent and stick together all the time; if one duck is separated, they all quack until they get back together. So yes, country life can be noisy with the chickens cackling and the ducks quacking! And of course there is Sammy Dog, a lab/shepherd mix, who bounds around the property, visiting all our guests, laying down on the porch and steps waiting for people to come home. Be careful coming down the driveway because he sometimes leaps unexpectedly in front of cars all goofy and happy. He can come in and even sleep over if you want (just send us a text message so we know where he is). Our cabins are set up for visiting dogs, but unfortunately we cannot host dogs in the tents. The lake is three miles down the winding road …13th Lake it is called and it is just beautiful. Totally natural and quiet with no sign of civilization on its shores. The Hudson River is at the bottom of our mountain; clear beautiful water; you go tubing or rafting with the various rafting companies located right nearby. The town of North Creek is five miles away off the main Route 28 road but it’s easy to miss so look for the 3 or 4 signs that mark the entrance to “town”. North Creek is a scenic little town with some great restaurants, a grocery store, liquor store, some shopping places and a scenic train called the Saratoga/North Creek Railroad which takes folks in antique train cars along the Hudson River. Another great experience is nearby Garnet Hill Lodge, an historic lodge offering lunches and dinners … beautiful property, amazing views, great food. It’s located right up the road in North River. They rent mountain bikes and have all kinds of walking trails. Lots and lots more to do … check our online Guide Book for more suggestions! So .... Enjoy amazing mountain day views and glorious stargazing by night ... this might be the most special vacation you’ve ever had! Quiet and tranquil … safely and privately located at the edge of our Hobby Farm where you can enjoy a beautiful tent, ducks and chickens, and sweet lab dog. If you're looking for additional space, we have other cottages on the property as well ... Authentic Adirondack Bird Camp which has two bedrooms, Farmstand Guest House. Camp Hudsonview and our newest Camp TwoSome (each with one bedroom), all of which are listed on this site.
We own 40 acres of land so it’s very private and quiet, and safe! We have open meadows to walk, woods to explore and even the road we’re on is wonderful for walking; you’ll pass by some wonderful old cemeteries and farmhouses.
  • This was a pleasant and peaceful getaway for my wife and I.

    Nolan2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful acres of land, beautiful well thought out, glamping tents. The lodge is a great place to cook, play games and enjoy with friends! We enjoyed the chickens and Sammy’s company and amazing wood-fried pizza from Leslie, plus the eggs for breakfast!!

    Madison2019-10-13T00:00:00Z

  • Place is very beautiful full of nature beauty all around. Had a lovely time with my hubby. Hot tub experience was great and highly recommended if u visit this place.

  • I expected a lot from this AirBnB after viewing the posting... and it totally exceeded expectations! Our brief stay was packed with pizza, a campfire, chickens, and the beautiful Sento Spa. Leslie and Emeline were such warm and gracious hosts and made the experience truly memorable. This trip was too short, and I am now dying to get back! If you have the chance, definitely try some dessert pizza and take a much needed mini-vacation in the hot tub!

    Michael2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Leslie’s camp was the best! Beautiful location and real fun experience “glamping”. The property has lovely touches — from the gorgeous flowers everywhere to the spa and wood oven pizza, everything was charming. And Leslie was a great accommodating host. She went out of her way to make my 18 month old son feel at home.

    Alyssa2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place was such a relaxing experience. I came here for a solo trip to get away from my hectic life and it went beyond all expectations! The property is GORGEOUS with rolling meadows and cute animals. The tent i stayed in had the comfiest bed and a porch overlooking the forest. The kitchen area had everything I needed to cook a meal and also the wood fired pizza at night was delicious, which was cooked in a big brick oven and you could bring your own toppings. I enjoyed how quiet it was and the Japanese bath house style private hot tub was well worth the money. This place was a gem and I would totally return again.

    Emma2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We booked one of Leslie's glamping tents because we needed a place to stay for a wedding we were attending, and our only regret was that we couldn't spend more time on the property or in the North River area! This is the first AirBnB that made us both say "we would come back JUST to stay at this place again", so hopefully some day in the future we'll be back and have time to eat pizza or take advantage of the cedar spa! This is such a fun and unique experience, and everything was perfect. Even though it poured one night, the sound of the rain on the roof of the tent and the rumbling thunder was so soothing. We loved spending time with the various animals wandering around - the chickens are SO sweet and funny, and Sammy is such a friendly pup (but do heed the warning that she runs towards cars, even late at night!) The glamping tents themselves are super cool, not to mention spacious - the waterbed and its sea of pillows and blankets was a dream and it was so cool that our tent had a little front and back porch to relax on. You'll probably wonder what the shared bathrooms/showers are going to be like, but they are very clean and charming and even have space to keep your toiletries. Being in the area for a wedding I was also pleasantly surprised to find a makeup mirror in the bathroom as well! A lifesaver. We will definitely be back, for the unique and fun experience of the Hobby Farm itself, and for the little details that took it from "a great AirBnB experience" to "an AirBnB to come back to".

Our rustic but very comfy lakefront cottage with private beach in the front and miles of wilderness in the back makes this a true Adirondack vacation. Multiple trails, cliffs, creeks, small lakes and meadows literally out the back door of our cabin
The cabin is the perfect get away to get in touch with nature. The lake is 50 feet out of the front door with a private beach and the perfect swimming spot with cool clear water and sandy bottom. Children love this lake because they can walk out for 200 feet and still only be in a few feet of water. Listen to the loons as you sit on the bank overlooking the lake and the mountains. All of the water to the cabin is drawn from the lake so please DON'T DRINK THE TAP WATER. You must bring drinking water. Washing, showering and doing dishes are perfectly fine with the tap water. Nights can be chilly, even during the summer months, so bring blankets/sleeping bags to your liking. No linens or towels are provided. There is a small paddle boat on the beach for use but please use at your own risk and wear the provided life jackets. Bring a fishing pole and try to catch one of the many fish in the lake, sunfish, trout, or bass. It is a great place to reconnect with nature and explore the beautiful Adirondack mountains.
  • Peace, quiet, beauty. This place has everything you could need. And it's so peaceful and cozy

  • Scott's cabin was a great place to relax and enjoy the Southern Adirondacks. Our family enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it to anyone looking to have a restful time "away from it all."

  • Cabin was just as promised. Fishing was great and neighbors were all friendly. Had a great time.

  • Great little cabin in the woods, very comfy beds, everything you could need, cabin gets very hot during the day but doesn’t matter because there is a great screened in porch. The lake is very shallow which is perfect if you bring kids. Scott was super responsive and gave us great instructions and the place was very clean! We loved it!

    Kristen2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Just book this! It’s amazing! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary and enjoyed a peaceful weekend enjoying the lake and local hiking trails. I’d be content to spend the whole summer in the swing on the porch. It’s the best coffee and reading spot ever! We kept thinking that we should have brought our kids- they would have loved it too. It was great for the two of us, but would have been great for a family trip too. The cabin was perfect- the kitchen well equipped, and the bed comfy. It was great to see the lake from the bedroom. We loved the option of the fire pit by the lake or the house. Thank you so much for your amazing hospitality!!!

  • Great place, super peaceful. Well worth the money if you're looking for a beautiful and quiet getaway.

    Teri2018-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time. The cabin was secluded, comfortable and relaxing. The view of the lake from the bedroom was beautiful every morning. The stars at night were incredible and listening to the loons was awesome . We hardly left the cabin and lake area. The netted porch was the best for reading. The lake was refreshing and the paddle boat was fun. We did the Nine Corners Lake hike which had a clean, blue lake at the end that was wonderful to swim in. Everything was great, really nothing to complain about.

    Lital2018-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our vacation stay at Scott's cabin on Stoner Lake. It was quiet and peaceful. The cabin was clean with accommodations for at least 6 people. It was very quaint, out of the way with a spectacular view of the lake. We would highly recommend the cabin for the perfect getaway in the Adirondacks.

Beautiful drives near here, we are directly off of the designated scenic drive Rt 30 that winds through the southern adirondacks. WINTER: is magical up here! Snowshoe and hike trails and waterfalls are within easy reach. Downhill skiers try Gore! It's a beautiful country ride through the woods along a river, put on Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and just as it ends you are in their parking lot. Beginner skiers may want to visit fun and family friendly Oak Mt just 15 minutes away. Great food, views, and its really cheap to ski. Cross Country Skiers MUST go to Lapland Lake nordic ski center, it's the best in the east! Or slap on skiis or snowshoes and go out across the lake. We will supply a full list of what to do. SUMMER: swimming, kayaking, hiking, biking bbqing and visiting the MANY lakes in the area are what we do. Swimming holes at the bottom of the waterfalls are other favorites, and you will likely be the only ones there. SPRING and FALL: just beautiful up here. Lots of antiquing, road rides and of course hikes.

  • The house is much nicer than what you see in the pictures. The view to the river and the coziness of the home is excellent for winter getaways. The house was very clean and beautifully decorated. My family enjoyed it and want to return during a warmer season.

  • This was an absolutely lovely cabin and our stay is exactly what we desired. The pictures here give a good idea of what to expect, but I don't think any amount of pictures could do it justice - the cabin was phenomenal. The views from the cabin were as lovely as the cabin itself. We stayed in the winter time, and although there are many more activities nearby in the summer, we had no shortage of fun things to do for our long weekend - with the snowshoes that Bjorn and Sharon have at the cabin, we even went snowshoeing! It was an amazing place to relax in the winter, and it surely is a fantastic place to stay year round. It was clean, quiet, and had a fully loaded kitchen and a washer & dryer. I highly recommend a stay here!

  • This is our second time staying at this great house. We are two families - 4 adults and 3 seven-year-old girls. Lapland Lake Cross Country Ski Resort is one of our favorite places to spend a long weekend in the winter. Bjorn's house is about 10 minutes away from Lapland Lake and has been a great fit for our families. The house is beautifully decorated and comfortable. We love the fireplace and comfy couches after a long day of skiing. The girls especially love the jacuzzi tub in the bathroom and trying to count all the bears in the house. We look forward to another visit in the future!

  • Beautiful house and amazing view of the lake. House fully stocked with cooking supplies. Amazing weekend, thank you

    Feras2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Bjorn and Sharon’s cabin was a wonderful getaway for the weekend. The views are spectacular with so many windows in the front of the cabin to enjoy it even when you’re inside. The location was great, just a short car ride to local shops and restaurants. Also not far from Oak Mountain, where we took their snow shoes they have and hiked. The place was very clean with all the essentials you need. The decor made you feel even more like you were in the mountains. I would highly recommend staying here.

  • Everything was perfect. Could not have asked for a better vacation

    Theodore2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This house is absolutely beautiful! Very clean and well-maintained! We had the most memorable, cozy week for Christmas with our family! Loved visiting during the winter, and would definitely enjoy in the summer, as well!

  • The house is set up so nice. What an amazing and peaceful spot with the sound of the river. We enjoyed our stay there. Bjorn was quick to respond to us. We definitely recommend the place.

Take a short walk to Torts Ice Cream Shop or the Community Hall for tennis, basketball or the playground. Enjoy dinner at the Alpine Restaurant and don't miss the experience (and great food) of stepping back forty years into an authentic, friendly Adirondack family owned diner at the Hope Diner just five miles south of town. We provide an ideal cabin for the family that wants to experience an Adirondack vacation in the woods with the convenience of nearby lake access, hiking, boating or just exploring. An experience that will keep you coming back year after year.
  • Great getaway spot. The cabin is very clean, and feels brand new, all appliances are new. You have everything that you need. Very peaceful location, tucked in the woods but close enough to the lake and the town. I spent winter breaks and summers coming to the town of Wells as a kid, but haven’t been back in about 15 years... it was so great to be able to visit! We will definitely be planning more trips back soon!

    Eleni2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic spot for a winter getaway to the adirondacks. The cabin was clean and exactly like the photos. The location was breathtaking, with a view of the lake and the mountains. And it’s a short trip to hiking and all kinds of other forms of entertainment. Perfect place to spend a New Years away from it all. Thank you!

    Alexandra2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was an absolute delight for a winter weekend getaway. The snow and deer galloping around the woods helped to make the cabin even more magical. As soon as you drive up to the cabin, you are taken away to a different land of peace and serenity. Gerry and Susan have done a stunning job designing the cabin with Adirondack touches both inside and out. They were fantastic hosts. Everything was a short drive away from yummy restaurants including the Alpine, hiking, and a ski resort. We can’t wait to come back again in the summer to enjoy the fire pit and the lake.

    Angela2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Gerry and Susan’s cabin was great and extremely cozy. It was in a great location and we had a lot of fun hiking and exploring the trails nearby. The cabin had everything we needed and we are extremely happy with our choice to stay here. Thanks for having us!!

    Nick2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Gerry and Susan's is one of the most fantastic places I've stayed at. Set in the middle of the woods and with a beautiful view of the lake is a perfect place for a romantic getaway or to explore all the activities in the area. The place is well equipped and sparkling clean so we felt right at home. Gerry is a wonderful host and did absolutely everything to make sure we enjoyed our stay. I would give 10 stars if I could!

    Andres2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin looks exactly as pictured and the hosts do a tremendous job making it a home away from home. Gerry and Susan offer a fantastic place to escape. They are there to answer every question. Highly recommend

This is a two story house/cottage that is in Lake Pleasant New York in the heart of the Adirondacks.
There the Oxbow Inn, a local restaurant, is walking distance from the house. Speculator is a few miles away where you will find a number of restaurants, general stores, boutiques, a grocery store, hardware store, laundry mat, library, churches etc. There is also a golf course, other camping sites and many lakes and waterfalls along with plenty of hiking trails.
  • Kayaks were great fun!

    Thomas2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. We enjoyed using the Kayaks that come with the place. The oxbow inn is right down the road and within walking distance. A cool place to get some food and drinks.

    Craig2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Lisa and Dons The cottage was very roomy for our party of 8, loads of storage and thoughtful touches and the beds were very comfortable. The boathouse was well equipped. We loved how private the property was. Oxbow lake is very peaceful with excellent bass fishing. For 60$ you can rent a small fishing boat with motor at the motel right down the road. We even saw a bald eagle at the north end of the lake. The climb from the lake access was very difficult but didn’t impact our time in the lake. We had a wonderful time.

    Samuel2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great week. House had everything we needed, very clean ! Perfect for our needs.

    Kate2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • We just had a fabulous stay on Oxbow Lake! The house is just as described, but I think a bit better than the description! They have everything you could need for your stay, from kitchen supplies to cook with, outdoor needs like citronella candles and picnic covers for the table, to plates and pans and all the goods. The rooms are as described, 1 room downstairs, 2 couches which were comfy in the living room and an upstairs which had 3 beds and lots of space if sharing. The bathroom upstairs was so cute and easy for everyone to share! It does get quite hot so the fans were appreciated. The shed on the lake housed everything you need for some fun on Oxbow lake and we had a good time in the kayaks and even caught fish when we went out one morning! No swimming in the immediate area, although we did find a rope swing across the lake which kids were jumping off of. Food at Oxbow just down the street is great and Speculator is very close to drive to for any needs. We loved the area, hiked Panther mountain and overall had a blast! Thank you again Lisa and Don! Don’t hesitate, rent this place, it’s perfect!

    Bethany2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • This house was a dream come true. My friends and I rented it for 3 days and had the time of our lives. So many great memories were made here grilling, swimming at Piseco lake, hiking, kayaking off the property, making a fire, and watching fun summer movies on Netflix. Thank you for allowing us to use your amazing place! I hope to come back someday.

  • We traveled to Speculator, NY, specifically because of how enamored we are of the Guest House as seen through Amy’s thoughtfully curated Instagram @speculatorguesthouse. Her instincts — to create a retreat that celebrates the wild Adirondacks without sacrificing modern comfort and style — are enviable. When we weren’t cozied up at the Guest House, taking notes on design, we were following Amy’s spot-on recommendations for winter hikes. Having experienced Speculator in March, we hope to find the opportunity to return for a summer season!

    Cristiana2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space very comfortable and clean.

    Danny2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amy & Ryan’s property is a modern oasis in the midst of the beautiful Adirondacks. It’s simple but by no means plain. Beautifully designed with well curated fixtures, furniture and kitchenware. And the shower—gorgeous!! Just enough of what you need to hibernate (we didn’t leave the house once!). And if you forgot anything, not to worry—a grocery store is within walking distance. Amy & Ryan are quick to communicate and ready to help with anything needed. We noticed some lightbulbs went out and Ryan came right over and replaced them. They did an amazing job refurbishing this house and were kind enough to share some before photos and it’s truly amazing. You will feel the labor of love they put into this property. A great place to relax and refresh!

  • The guest house Such a lovely place. Our stay was short but we wanted to stay longer. we enjoy the area and the ski center it’s just 5 min away by car. Every morning the Bambies (deer) visited us in the backyard. Was a nice experience. The house it’s so well designed and comfortable. We definitely want to go back always. I recommend this place 100%

  • This was our second stay at the Guest House; first one in winter. We liked the house just as much in winter as we did in the late Summer. It's such a short trip over to Oak Mountain, which was a perfect ski and tubing hill for our kids. Highly recommend the house and the area.

  • The Henrietta house is a gorgeous place to stay while visiting Speculator and its neighboring towns. My girlfriend, Anna, and I spent a lovely weekend-long winter getaway at the house and found it to be a very comfortable, cozy, and functional place to stay. Everything was as described and depicted on the listing and Kimberly was wonderful at responding to our questions and providing us with info on the house as needed. Anna and I definitely recommend staying here and will be considering doing so again during the summer months.

    Christine2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Carol and Jeff’s camp. We were in a canoe, paddling the beautiful lake, within minutes of our arrival. Inlet is such an quant town, with great food, shops and places to grab a coffee. The cottage is clean and comfortable. It is much more spacious than it appears in the pictures. We hope to get back in the future.

    Meghan2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Carol and Jeff are fantastic hosts. The location of this place is amazing, great view, great amenities and overall a nice stay. The home is small, as you can tell from the photos, and we wished the furniture inside was a little more comfortable, but that didn’t detract from our overall enjoyment of the week. We would stay here again. Thanks for a great week!

    Joel2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • I almost don't want to write a review because this place is so sweet that I don't want others to book it up! Carol and Jeff clearly put a lot of heart and good-energy into this cottage. It's sparkling clean and has all of the little touches that made it easy to feel like home the minute we walked in. The main floor has a kitchen, living room area, and a deck. It's great for relaxing! The upper area is the bedroom and has a double bed and then two bunks, plus the bathroom and shower. The towels are fluffy and the water is hot and it feels as though you're living in a comfy tree-house. We enjoyed our stay very much!

    Eve2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • This sweet cozy cabin has a breath taking view of 6th lake that we couldn't get enough of. The hosts were available to us but not at all overbearing...they took cues from us regarding our needs. We were fortunate enough to meet much of the extended family too, and my son, who gets very shy, remarked about how kind everyone was. We loved our stay and wish we didn't have to leave. We will likely book again if the dates line up in the future!

    Peggy2019-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Carol and Jeff are excellent hosts. They are welcoming, friendly and helpful without intruding on your privacy. The cabin is clean and cozy, and is located in a quiet area on a peaceful lake. The porch is a lovely extra space.

  • We had a great stay and wish we’d booked another night. We enjoyed the dock and kayaking on the lake. The location is beautiful and quiet, but close to shops and restaurants. The cabin was cute and clean with thoughtful touches like fresh baked cookies and natural sachets to take with you. If you’re looking for the outdoors and feeling of camping, but with the comfort of being in a clean, comfortable bed at night, this place is perfect!

  • The place is absolutely perfect for a couple, single person or close friends. Perfect location for heading into high peaks from Tahawus or a ski at Gore. Kimberly was very quick to respond and I was looking last minute which made it easy for me. She also brought me over a fantastic bowl of stew and buttered bread! Perfect for a snowy February night.

    Dan2020-02-28T00:00:00Z

Guest cottage at lakefront 1930's Adirondack camp. Updated with Adk charm. Beautiful lake and mountain views. The perfect cozy get away. Swim, paddle, fish, right from our shoreline. Enjoy night time camp fires on the beach. Canoe, kayak, tubes and floats available. Bringing your boat? No charge for dock space. Close to several golf courses and hiking trails.
  • The cottage is well located, one mile from the village, right on the lake. Very well equipped for a holiday, with everything one needs, high quality linens, kitchen equipment, power shower, and comfortably furnished. No hesitation in recommending Jacqueline as a host.

    Catherine2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay Very nice and clean. Great property right on the lake. Beautiful views. Host is very nice and has a very sweet dog. We have always loved visiting Long Lake.

  • A wonderful Adirondack retreat!

    Colin2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • The lodging is a guest house in the main property. It is a comfortable one bedroom and perfect for a short visit. Jacqueline was very responsive on email on any questions. 5 min drive to the little town. Clean and comfortable stay on the lake.

    Kanika2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • It is a beautiful spot on a beautiful lake. The cottage was spotless with some great pieces of early 1900 century ADK but with all the modern features you need in a lake cottage. The space is perfect for two people. The front porch afforded a great spot for a small dinner and we thoroughly enjoyed both the inside and outside anementies. The dock(s) were fantastic and exactly what we hoped for. You can dock the boat, take a swim or just relax in a lawn chair. What added to this great 4th of July trip was the great weather and fabulous 4th of July fireworks in Long Lake which we got to watch from the boat! Highly recommend!! Great spot in Long Lake.

    Jill2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for a couple, great location, clean and comfortable.

    Biagio2018-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqueline was a fantastic host. She's super attentive and even went out of her way to provide all the fixings for a fire down by the water. Access to a canoe, kayaks and paddle boat made our trip even more enjoyable. The space is perfect for 2 people and was incredibly clean and in a perfect location to local attractions and surrounding lakes. I can't wait to go back!

    Paul2018-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Jacqueline was wonderful. She greeted us on our arrival and made sure we had everything we needed. She gave us a lot of great advice. The place was perfect for my husband and I. It was immaculate and had more then we needed. There were canoes and a kayak to use. A large deck with seating on the water. We would love to go back one day.

The last of winter and the best of spring skiing happen now. Longer days and warmer temperatures are a treat. The cabin is only 7 miles from big "downhill" at Gore Mountain, and even closer to Garnet Hill's amazing miles of X country groomed trails . Whether you are a skier, a snowshoe enthusiast, a stargazer, or just like reading by the fireplace, we are here to help you enjoy your stay in this winter wonderland we call home. We hope to see you soon!
  • Lin is an amazing hostess!! She is sweet and lovely and her place is welcoming, adorable and clean. She goes out of her way to make each stay special. We are already looking forward to coming back!

    Jennifer2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second stay with Lin and I'm positive not the last. Lin is one of the most friendly and intelligent home owners I've ever met. You feel like being home immediately when you enter.

    Alexander2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Look forward to a warm welcome and a cozy experience sitting by the fire chatting, sharing experiences and stories while savoring a beer or a glass of wine.

    Paul2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • As always, Lin is such a great host. Thanks again for hosting me. I look forward to my next stay at Lin's place.

    Jim2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed at Lin’s place again. As always, Lin is a very hospitable host, house and room are sparkling clean, and breakfast is delicious. Thanks so much and can’t wait to visit again!

    Jim2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for hosting me again, Lin! Lin's place is extremely comfortable and clean. Highly recommended!

    Jim2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lin hosts the PERFECT rustic and cozy pine-cabin experience with heaps of hospitality!

    Paige2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • It is easy to see why Lin has been rated a 'super host'. You could not fault her airbnb and the care she takes to look after her guests. She has a great deal of local knowledge and a passionate commitment to the beautiful Adirondacks, the spirit of which she captures within her 'camp'. The building was one familiar to be having spent summers 60 ago just a short walk away. The neighbourhood kids all hung out together, including the original owners of Lin's place. So it was a marvellous walk down memory lane. So Lin, thanks for the hospitality extended to my nephew. I wholeheartedly recommend Lin's airbnb as comfy accomodation in North River to anyone seeking a real Adirondack experience.

This delightful newly-built cabin with gorgeous beautiful mountain views offers privacy and sounds of the brook below. Camp TwoSome was built for just two (or maybe three) ... cozy, sweet and lovely. Located on a quiet road surrounded by woods. Elsewhere on our family compound, we offer a Japanese hot tub, on-site walking trails through beautiful wildflower meadows and most nights, wood-fired pizza. Close to rail biking, white water rafting and 13th Lake for swimming and kayaking.
Enjoy gorgeous views of the Gore Mountain range in this brookside newly built cabin. Camp TwoSome is a sweet “new old” cabin is modest in scale, simply furnished so to not detract from the richness of the views --- it offers a fresh, invigorating sense of “just what is needed, nothing more.” The cabin is located on a 40 acre family compound where we have four glamping tents and four cabins with plenty of privacy between each. There is a queen bed with duvet covers and beautiful east facing views of the mountains. Vintage oriental rugs, beautiful drapes and antique lamps. There is a cozy bay window where one could read, or sleep. The bay window overlooks a brook far below with a beautiful canopy of trees above. The bathroom has a nice shower and vanity. There is plenty of hot water, towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner for your use. The kitchen is fully stocked with a stove, an undercounter fridge, toaster, coffee making things and of course a sink. There are good pans to cook with, plates, glasses and silverware. There is a fire pit with Adirondack chairs. We provide dry firewood and kindling for our guests. Stargazing at night is amazing as there is no light pollution. Summers are wonderful with cool mountain breezes, nearby lakes and the Hudson River to swim, bathe or fish in. Fall is glorious with all the trees turning color. Let us know if you would like to book! Requested of donation of $8 each to cover the costs of firewood, dough and maintenance. Let us know if you plan to join us. The property is an easy scenic drive up 87 from NYC. If you arrive late, the house will be unlocked and lights on for you. ARCHITECTURAL NOTES: The cabin was designed and hand crafted by its owner Leslie and her small team of tradesmen during the winter of 2018. The rugged primitive siding was harvested from on-site cedar trees, and the knotty pine interior trim was locally sourced. The cabin is not set a top the highest point of the land, where it would be fully exposed, but partway down, allowing the woods behind to form privacy and to shelter the house. Gaze out at the wildness of the site from a sheltered spot. MORE ABOUT THE PROPERTY: Since 1910, my family has owned 8 acres of land on the upper part of the land. When my great-grandparents built the original camp (Bird Camp), there were gorgeous views looking all the way down to the Hudson River. Then when people stopped owning grazing animals, and as it then became expensive to keep the meadows mowed, the trees grew up and the views were all lost. When 32 acres of land below us became available several years ago, with financial help from my brother, I purchased the land and over several winters, I had the property strategically logged to open up again the beautiful south and east facing views of Gore Mountain, Moxham Mountain and the Hudson River below. Originally I intended to return to my former business life I'd led downstate and to build vacation homes for sale. As things have worked out, my plan now is to build simple beautiful rental cabins and retain the property for retirement income, and so that I might leave an income producing estate to my daughters. I had a wonderful winter of 2018 working with my small crew to build this camp. By December, the framers had completed the structure, the windows were in and I was able to keep warm with temporary heat all winter as we spent months happily finishing the inside of the "camp."
North River is such a beautiful, wonderful place! Picturesque, romantic, Adirondacks at its best ... People are always amazed at how beautiful our family property is ... I am very blessed to own this place, and enjoy sharing it with others.
  • Our stay was lovely! Wish we could have stayed longer and definitely will be coming back! I already miss Sammy!!

    David2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place was beautiful (!), especially since we were there at the absolute peak of foliage behind the cabin and all over the area!! :-O Very cozy and loved seeing the deer behind the house, basking in the sun. Used the window seat a LOT, and so glad you included it when building the cabin!

    Joanne2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Leslie is a wonderful host! She responded immediately to our last minute request to book with her. The cottage was adorable, warm and cozy with many lovely touches. The natural hot tub was definitely a treat after our wedding weekend. I highly recommend this beautiful place!!

We were able to cook, walk to town, go hiking, play board games, and relax in the hot tub - really the perfect fall break. The house was amazing. Thank you, Christopher!!

  • Highly Recommended for snowmobilers. Awesome mountain house, very comfortable we felt right at home. loved the wood stove, pellet stove, and hot tub, made coming home from riding all day in subzero temps great. Host provided us with a ton of local knowledge as our group had not ridden this area before. We were able to ride out to the trail system from the house without issue. We will definitely be back next season!

  • A stay at Dan’s is always wonderful. The cabin is welcoming, comfortable and clean and has everything you need for a pleasant stay. The design of the spaces is such that you can really appreciate the beauty of the woods. This is my first visit in the winter and it was great to arrive to a plowed driveway and a warm cabin!

    Janet2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Just returned from a weekend at Dan’s cabin, very cosy and comfortable, great for a family and not too far from Gore Mountain, we would definitely return.

    Rob2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and comfy! Dan was super responsive and shared lots of great tips. Well stocked kitchen and perfect for a family.

    Jessica2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Really great space, lots of beds and the sauna is great and it is super easy to get to gore mountain from here. Dan was super helpful with providing directions to the cabin as when you get close there is no service and also provided a lot of great information about the area! Also the sauna was a great perk to have post snowboarding all day!

    Joseph2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed Dan's cabin in the woods. It was convenient to Gore Mountain skiing and Garnet Hill cross country ski facility. We enjoyed the sauna and the toasty wood stove.

    Melanie2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely, rustic home that is extremely clean and definitely feels lived in - lots of family photos :) Our family of five stayed here to ski for several days at Gore. The town road to the house has some potholes, so be cautious. Google mapped it exactly right, so it's pretty easy to find! There are four single beds and one queen; the queen is in the same room as two of the singles, and the upstairs has two more singles. You can push the single beds together, but they're not quite the same height so it's not exactly like sleeping in a queen. There are four thermostats, so you will stay toasty if you wish. There is a dishwasher and a washer/dryer, both of which we used while there. There is also a lovely sauna, which is a great perk. There is no television - well, there is, but it's one of the VERY old school ones from the 80s. :D The WiFi works well, so just bring a laptop and stream if you want to watch tv. The home has plenty of pots, pans, dishes, towels, etc. It has a lovely Adirondack feel, and we're very happy we stayed here. Thank you!

    Petra2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • That’s such a lovely private place: private, spacious. There is a pool table! And the wood burning stoves... the place is set to cook. And close to the lodge if you’d rather eat out. We really enjoyed this cabin.

    Marina2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Tucked away in nature. Perfect balance between cozy and plenty of space. Using the sauna was an excellent perk!

    Greg2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin with amazing hospitality and a great location. The cabin was incredibly clean and was close to all the needed amenities (grocery store, gas, pub), but also very remote and a perfect place to relax. There are plenty of outdoor activities and hiking trails close by. Glenn was extremely accommodating, friendly and very easy to communicate with. We hope to be back again!

  • This cabin in the Adirondacks is absolutely perfect. It sits on a gorgeous lake, and is not far from town. The seating in the main room is a little on the small side, but I traveled with 3 larger adults (over 6 feet tall). Despite that, it was comfortable and cozy. We absolutely plan to stay there again!

Our Cabin is a refurbished barn that has been in our family since early 1900's. My husband Keith turned it into what is now a lovely Adirondack Cabin overlooking beautiful Lake Algonquin. Gas fireplace, full kitchen, kayaks, 4 beds and great views!
This is a lovely, newly refurbished barn in a Adirondack setting. Exterior has just been stained and landscaping in progress. A new deck was built to enjoy the lake and mountains. Gorgeous lake views out front, swim, kayak, hike and stargaze or simply relax here. 2 kayaks, indoor gas stove and outdoor fire pit provided. The 3.5 miles around the lake is the perfect daily walk or run. Cabin has 2 bedrooms, each with one double bed. The upstairs open loft has 2 single beds (total of 4 beds) the loft is narrow, preferably for shorter people and perfect for children. Also, not a lot of headroom at the top of stairwell, so we always tell guests to watch yourselves..
Our neighborhood has a couple other rentals with a few year round homes. The beauty of this area is the lake and mountains directly out the front door of the cabin. We finally have a lovely new cafe in town called the Overrock café. The owners are friendly and the food is wonderful. We will leave you all the information you will need to find the places in town and nearby towns.
  • The Good Life cabin was everything we expected and more! The cabin is so cozy and clean. Debbie has binders with local restaurants/food joints (including menus) and ideas for activities to do during your stay. She also had books, dvds, and games to play! The cabin is decorated so nicely and it felt so homey staying there. We experienced the cabin during the winter for the Lake George winter festival but look forward to experiencing it in the spring or summer in the future!

    Jennie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great couples weekend getaway at The Good Life! The cabin has everything you need for a cozy weekend, complete with a fire place and a great selection of games. We will definitely be back someday!

    Kelly2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, is the best word to describe The Good Life Cabin. Debbie was a wonderful host and met us at the door which made my daughter and I feel very welcomed and comfortable. The pictures on the site do not do this place justice I have stayed at many Airbnb’s and this by far was the best. The location right off of the lake which we canoed on first thing in the morning thanks to Debbie providing kayaks and conoes btw was absolutely breathtaking. The area was beautiful, the fall colors, cool October breeze and the amazing sky at night full of stars combined for an amazing stay. I will absolutely be looking forward to making this my go to cabin anytime I visit the Adirondacks. Thank you Debbie!

    James2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Good Life Cabin is a fantastic all seasons destination. We have been there in Fall and Winter and the atmosphere for the cabin is so cozy and homey, you can choose to use the cabin as home base and explore the area, or stay in curled up with some hot cocoa and enjoy some much needed down time.

    Tamara2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint cabin, fully equipped with anything you could want. A very easy place for a relaxing getaway. Top notch experience for all.

    Gina2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing clean, cute, well decorated, filled with thoughtful touches, warm, cozy place. Just as you see in the photos. Debbie is amazing, kind, generous with thinking of amenities for her guests and hospitable. Hreat place, area that we will highly recommend to everyone. The walk around the serene lake is a great way to start the morning, augur falls is a close drive to the trailhead, b'fast place is on the way back from the lakeside walk as is the public beach! And if you are craving a big town fun day, Lake George is less than an hour away!

    Lily2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • A great cottage for a getaway in this beautiful region. We are a family of 4 and Debbie’s place provided a great base for us to explore all that was on offer in the area. We enjoyed whitewater rafting and stand-up paddle boarding along with some nice walks and hikes to see waterfalls. We loved the little town beach in Wells. The cottage was cozy and comfortable, and we made use of the games (outdoor and indoor), Netflix, camp fire pit, and kayaks for the lake. A really great place to relax. Debbie was super easy to communicate with and proactive in making us feel welcome and comfortable. Thank you! p.s. Debbie has provided a wonderful amount of info about the local area and the tourism office in local Speculator is also helpful.

  • Debbie is awesome! Very attentive and helpful. Also provides privacy. We used a lot of firewood, and they were helpful in delivering as needed. Great touches in the house, was very welcoming. Kayaks and canoe were nice, lots to do there. Also biking around the small lake. Great space, great hosts!

  • Beautiful place, nestled in the woods and snow, nicely secluded. Presidents Day weekend started of really cold, but the wood burning stove kept us cozy and warm. The house has stunning views and the road up there it self is so pretty too. 13th Lake is great to visit and walk around. We spend our days skiing at Gore Mountain which is a 18 minute drive from the house. Rebecca is quick to respond and left little notes throughout the house to explain how everything worked or where to find it. The listing is accurate and the view from the loft is just as beautiful as in the pictures. 1 thing to note for families with younger children, the masterbedroom is upstairs, the other 2 bedrooms are in the lower level, with the familyroom, leaving the living and kitchen in between. If you would like to sleep close to your kids, you´re better of all sleeping downstairs.

  • Had a weekend ski trip with 3 couples and one single and Rebecca’s place was perfect. Beautifully nestled in the woods and super cozy feeling. It snowed one night while we were there and we were a bit concerned about getting out of the driveway, but it was plowed before everyone was even awake! Would happily stay there again.

  • Tucked in the woods, it's a short walk to trails for hiking or cross country skiing and there are plenty of maps in the house. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the wood burning stove keeps it cozy. Thank you Rebecca!

  • Wonderful house with stunning views of woods and sky throughout. There is a trail leading one of the most beautiful lakes we’ve ever seen. We happily lit fires in the wood stove at night, baked pies in a kitchen that had everything we could possibly need, and grilled lunches at the grill in the covered grill porch. Just sitting outside soaking up the surrounding nature was memorable. Great vacation.

  • We took our family of five for a week of Adirondack living. Our stay was amazing. By the first day we were making our plans to come back. This was the perfect place for us to see and do the things we'd been dreaming of for the last ten years. Within a walk or short drive we were able to swim and canoe in a pristine mountain lake, hike to the peak of a mountain for sunrise, and eat dinner at a lodge near a burning fire-pit while a classic rock band played cover songs and a silver-haired group of slightly tipsy birding enthusiasts danced together. On the one rainy day we lit a fire in the wood stove and experimented with a lentil stew in the open kitchen while the kids worked on one of the puzzles we found in the house. I have only good things to say about the house and the surrounding area.
