Places to stay in Hammond
This 2016 cabin sits on a very secluded 135 acres in Northern NY 3/4 of a mile of the road is a seasonal road that is plowed by the owners. 4x4 vehicles are suggested during March and April. It is fully insulated with cooking facilities and wood burning stove for heat. There is a bedroom on the ground floor and a loft for extra sleeping This is a rustic camp with no electricity but a generator for emergency’s. Composting toilet, cooler, ice, jugs of water, lamps, fire pit. Wood for sale.
This is a perfect spot for year round use as a solitary mediation retreat, winters in particular, or a space to enjoy the outdoors with limited access to people and the hustle and bustle of city life. 3 miles away is the owners farm house with shower/laundry facilities and a warm welcome if you need. We are pet friendly.
We are secluded with a reasonable sized town (Gouverneur) 7 miles away with a grocery store and restaurants. However this cabin is more suited for people who want to immerse themselves into the seclusion of the area. This is a great jumping off point to the 1000 Island region as well as Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake as well as Lake Placid and the High Peaks Region.
  • A wonderful rugged escape! Staying at the cabin is a bit like camping without the tent, but if you’re looking for a peaceful, quiet getaway without electronics and distractions, this is it! What’s more, the host was lovely and welcoming. Be sure to try the farm-raised eggs and meat! As stated in the listing, there’s no electricity. Great for us, but good to know what you’re signing up for! Overall amazing weekend and we will be back.

  • Overall excellent trip! Absolute privacy and beautiful scenery. And off grid experience to return to nature

    Andreas2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We so enjoyed our time in both the cabin and surrounding land! We brought a ton of extra clothes but didn’t need them, despite the freezing February temperature. Many lanterns were provided and the beds were warm and comfortable. Meat and eggs from the farm were delicious! This is a beautiful setting for watching the sunset from the porch or exploring the woods, clearings and nearby river bank by day. Check-in and -out were easy; Chad was quick to respond before we arrived and lovely to meet.

  • Amazingly peaceful getaway!

  • What a perfect 2 nights we had at this little hideaway! Everything was perfect and so much more then we could ask for! Chad was so helpful even before we arrived! The property is just like Chad has explained in the right up! It is rustic and beautiful we will be going back soon!

  • We had the most amazing stay! It was such a beautiful space on such a nice property, you can tell they really care about their cottage. Chad kept in contact and made sure we had no problems throughout our stay. The hospitality we were shown was incredible! I would highly recommend this property, make sure to pick up some eggs or meat too when you are there :)

  • Chad and Jason’s place is an amazing getaway. We visited in January, and were lucky to get almost 10” of fresh snow when we arrived! The wood stove was able to toast the place up nicely and kept us warm all weekend. The kitchen was perfect for what we needed and the basic amenities and rustic nature were exactly what we were looking for. No running water, no electricity and no heat other than the stove was perfect. It really gave us a chance to disconnect from our hectic lives and find some serenity in nature. We hope to be back soon!

  • This place is a completely gorgeous, very secluded little retreat, especially wonderful for folks looking to unplug and reconnect either with themselves or their partners. Me and my wife loved sitting in front of the very cozy wood-burning stove, watching the fire snap and crackle. I wasn't sure at first if the stove would really heat the whole space, especially since it was 30 degrees F outside, but within the first hour or so of arriving we had the place warmed up, and once it got toasty, it stayed cozy for three days as long as we kept a log on the fire. It is unbelievably quiet out on the front porch with a cup of coffee. The generator was easy to use, but we only really flipped it on a couple times after dark for a brief bit of extra light. Host is super-kind and quick to respond. Breakfast sausage: yummy. Farm eggs: off the hook. Just come here you guys.

Cosy 2 bedroom small home in the west end of Brockville. Close to theatre, coffee shop, gas, and grocery store, parks and trails, there’s no need to move the car after you arrive.
This house was built in the late 50’s early 60s and is a common size home for the street. Most people would consider this a war time home. Less then 800 sq feet on the main floor, it is small but is very suitable for short term stays in Brockville. We hope you will enjoy your stay.
This home is located in a quiet neighbourhood close to Hwy 2. The home is approximately 15 min walk to the city center and minutes from St Lawerance Park where there is swimming, playground, picnic and a beach area, The Brock Trail, Rotary Splash Pad and Park. The Brockville Golf and Country Club is just 1km away. Located within a 7 min walk to major grocery store chain, gas and convenience store and coffee shop.

  • We loved our cabin experience. The shower rooms were nearby and very clean. The heated pool was spotless. The people were friendly and the manager did everything to make our stay very enjoyable. We will come back and recommend the place. Thanks that's been a great moments.

  • Nice place for a short stay

    Thierry2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin and campsite were pretty well exactly to my expectations - and would certainly recommend in terms of value for money. Check in was a breeze and the cabin is newer and cleaner than the photos let on. Adults only pool times in the morning and afternoon were a bit of a surprise but otherwise a very pleasant stay!

  • I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Mary Jayne’s home. She makes you feel so welcome in making her home feel like your home away from home

    Pat2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Jayne had excellent reviews and her place didn't disappoint. Mary Jayne is a cheerful, welcoming, and warm host. She is attentive and makes sure that you are able to find her home and get in effortlessly. Her place is beautiful and spotlessly clean. It is a gorgeous setting -- in nature and about a 5 minute drive to downtown Brockville (one does need a car). She provides great tips for local tourist places to visit. Mary Jayne also graciously offers her guests a continental breakfast. I can see why she has received high ratings. I recommend her place and would definitely stay again.

    Gwen2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely home that feels like a bed-and-breakfast, quiet, calm, beautiful views (just like the photos!). I was there for a brief one-night stay (I got in VERY late because of work, Mary Jayne was very understanding and gave me instructions for self check-in, etc) but hope to return again sometime and enjoy the ambiance. Recommend for a lovely relaxing stay! An easy drive into town as well.

    Erin2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Probably the best place to stay in Brockville.

  • Spent a beautiful weekend at this cabin! Just as described and the land was gorgeous

    Lauren2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Chad was accommodating and provided us with everything we needed for our stay. We had a great time at the river and would definitely recommend this spot for off-grid unwinding and relaxation. We had a couple of steaks as well as sausage and eggs from the farm which were delicious.

    Mac2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is our 2nd time staying on the property—we enjoyed our stay at the wooded cabin so much we wanted to check out the river cabin. We truly can’t say enough about how wonderful our experiences have been. The river cabin is delightful and the property stunning. Fresh farm eggs and meats are delicious. Yes, it’s “rustic”, but with a fully operational stove/oven (uses propane), rain water faucet for dishes, and rain water outdoor shower, we had all we needed. Hosts are responsive, thoughtful, and just all around good people. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer.

    Sarah2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I even begin? This cabin was everything my husband and I expected and so much more. Chad made sure to provide us with a comfortable experience and was as hospitable as could be. He provided us with everything we needed for lighting (an oil lamp, candles, flashlight, battery powered lamp) and everything we could need in general really. The cabin was spotless and cozy. We got to stay on private land all to ourselves and right by a river we went for a refreshing swim in after which which we used the fire pit/grill for a campfire and bbq. Roughing it out with a rain-water collecter outdoor shower but also having the comfort of a warm shower and washer/dryer on Chad’s farm when we needed was great!! I can’t recommend this place enough. (If you can bring a hammock to enhance the experience like we did then that’s all the better!)

  • This location has to be one of the best in the entire area. Incredible views from the kitchen and living space with a massive deck and a ton of outdoor space. The place was clean and check-in was incredibly straightforward. Cannot wait to be back again soon!

  • A beautiful view of the river and gardens and a very calm and zen space makes this pad a perfect retreat. The host greeted us warmly and was very thoughtful. Highly recommended!

  • That morning view of the river through the large back door/ windows is beautiful! The main area is all open concept so you see the view all of the time. The place over all has a modern look but is also very cozy. Dakota is an amazing host! We booked last minute and he made arrangements to have the place ready for us. He checked in to make sure it was in perfect condition when we got there too. Everything was very clear upon booking and was immediately available for questions when we arrived, via the app. Anything we needed (ie in the kitchen to make our) was there, including a Tassimo for morning coffee with pods available to use. Over all very happy with our stay!

    Jessica2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • An idyllic and quiet place with a stunning view. Located not so far away from Rockport, Dakota’s place is ideal if you want to discover the Thousand Islands.

  • This was a great 2 day vacation with our dogs. It’s a great location close to Brockville and right on the water. Nice dock and view! The dogs loved it and it was very relaxing. The water was pristine and warm. They let us use their kayaks which was fantastic! We would stay again!!!

  • We stayed at Ping and Johns place for just one night while on our way to Quebec. We really just needed a place to sleep and shower and you could not beat the value of this spot. Ping communicated very quickly with us and accommodated our late check in. The apartment was very clean and actually much more spacious than it appeared in the photos. As the listing says, the apartment is very close to a rather active railway. You will hear rumbling and train whistles throughout the night. It didn’t bother us too much though. If you are a light sleeper or are traveling with young children you may want to take this into consideration, but my kids were rather fascinated with the trains. We had a fabulous breakfast right down the street in the morning at Johns Diner. If you have time I highly recommend it.

  • One of the best hosts I have encountered! I booked their place on the same day late afternoon (after another host cancelled my booking an hour before I arrived!) We are a small hobby farm where we raise a herd of Scottish Highland cattle as well as pigs, duck and chicken. If you are interested in having a farm experience or just looking for a place to relax for awhile then this is perfect. Not suitable for people who want to bring pets as we already have 2 dogs and cats. These are primarily working animals who are very friendly. The house would be shared with two very friendly humans as well.
This is a room in a farm house and there is 125 acres to explore. Whether you wanted to just relax and read
This is a very rural part of NY. Very peaceful and quiet. That said there are places not too far to visit as day trips. There is a small town nearby, Gouverneur, that has a Price Chopper, CVS and restaurants.
  • A real night in a farm. Everything like the description. Chad let us use the kitchen and do our lives while he was doing his. We received a warm welcome and enjoyed that night.

  • Chad was a great host. The place is accurate to the description and the hospitality was outstanding. We had a good time.

  • We absolutely loved staying on Chad and Jay's beautiful farm. We were very warmly welcomed and even Rocky the dog tolerated our presence after a while ;) Even though they already had a full house for Thanksgiving, we felt very welcome. We had a great time talking with Chad and got to enjoy a bit of Jay's delicious cooking in the morning. We very much recommend staying here and if we're ever in the area again, we will definitely be back (and maybe try the cabin)!

  • Had the pleasure of staying at Scott’s place just one night, The place was sparkling clean, and the bed was very comfortable. It was a Great stay!

    Caroll & Jeison2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • The schoolhouse is so quaint with beautiful farmland and wildlife surrounding it. The furnishings were stylish. We loved the chalkboard refrigerator for guest to leave messages. The location to the Sate Park is within walking distance where you can enjoy the St.Lawerence Seaway! We visited our host late the first evening of our visit. He showed us his stain-glass studio and his hand-raised goat! I couldn’t stop throwing the ball for his amazing trick dog! Lol As we were leaving we watched the amazingly red & orange sunset over the St. Lawerence. My husband and I are already talking about a return trip to Scott’s schoolhouse. You will enjoy the quaint house and stunning views!! If I could post a photo of our refrigerator message, I would. It says everything about the wonders that surrounded us there!

  • Wonderful place to stay. great view, super porch for hanging out. Didn't get a chance to use the fire pit but it was a nice touch. Roomy inside and beautifully maintained.

    Ken2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable beds and couches in living room. Large selection of DVD movies. Dock was very convenient for our rented boat. Checkin was simple. Plenty of pots and pans. Sunset on the deck was great.

    Nolan2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • When we got to the cabin it had not been cleaned yet due to a miscommunication with cleaning lady. Emily took care of the problem and compensated us. After that it was a great place to stay and our group would rent again. Thanks Emily for being on top of everything.

    Sean2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, cozy cabin, full of amenities on Black Lake. Watching the sunset from the cabin is a must. Excellent host. Would recommend for any family.

    Alicia2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • We chose this cute little cabin as the location for our fishing trip, the cabin and the fishing was exactly as we expected and hoped for. The cabin sits right on the edge of the lake with a private dock. For fishing this was one of the best perks with a lift that came right out of the water. Having a full kitchen with everything already there was so convenient. The actual kitchen is not very organized but no matter everything was there. The bedrooms were not as clean as I would want but that’s easily fixed. There was a washer and dryer which came in hand with laundry detergent already there. The cabin itself is very quaint and you have a lot of privacy even with having neighbors. The back yard had a great fire pit with comfy Adirondack chairs over looking the water. The grass was quite high, and unkept but not really a big deal. The grill in the deck could use some TLC but we came prepared Incase that was the case. I recommend bringing disposable aluminum cooking pans for grill use or heavy duty aluminum foil. The cabin served its purpose and I genuinely didn’t want to leave! I highly recommend this cabin for your stay on black lake, when compared to other areas as told to us by the locals this cabin was a little bit more expensive but highly comparable and I think you get way more for your money with this cabin vs a rental park or other cabin rental. Most likely I will come back here again some day.

    Emily2019-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • The views were amazing and the camp was very cozy and welcoming. We felt very at home there and hated to leave. We especially loved the adirondak chairs surrounding the fire pit overlooking the lake!

Rent 1 room or all 3. Located near the river in the 1000 Islands region- 5 minute drive from downtown Brockville, 1 hour to Ottawa; 45 minutes to Kingston. Near restaurants, beach, city parks, family-friendly activities, and nightlife. You'll love my place for its coziness, and country setting, high ceilings, views, and welcoming hospitality. Great for couples, singles, business travelers, and families. Smoking outside only and two friendly cats are on premises. Continental breakfast included.
It's unique in the way that you are in a country settings yet minutes from downtown. You could see deer, wild turkeys , etc. while sitting on the back deck. Is also nice to see the two horses next door.
  • The decor at Mary Jaynes is astonishing, just much love and work went into it all.

  • Mary Jayne is a very warm and friendly host. It was by far the best host I met on this trip. Even though I arrived late at night, I waited and welcomed me warmly, explaining meticulously and kindly the rooms and facilities. The room was much more antique and nice than the photo, and the bathroom was shared but clean and nice. He also thought about eating breakfast comfortably. The whole interior of the house was very nice, just like the house is in the movie. The pictures we took with the guests who stayed were wonderful. If you stay here, you will never regret it and you will create wonderful memories you can't experience anywhere else. If you have a chance, I want to stay again. Thank Mary Jayne Be happy. :)

  • The pictures do not do the view justice. Great place with incredible views. We had a family of 8 in this cabin with plenty of room. Also if you want to rent a boat it’s only a half mile away. Will definitely use this cabin in the future.

    Daniel2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, rustic cabin right on the river. The location was fabulous as it was on a private drive, tucked in the woods so it was quiet and away in the bay so you did not have the boat traffic of the main river. Perfect for kayaking and just enjoying the lake. It is only a 15 min drive to Alexandria Bay where you can find places to eat, shop or play (nightlife and Uncle Sams boat tour). The cabin itself is rustic (in the best ways) but well equipped with everything you need (towels, bedding, dishes, cookware, basics to get you started - toilet paper, papertowels, dish soap, etc). House has cornhole, frisbee, croquet, games, movies, canoe and even a row boat they let us use. It is one of the few pet friendly homes we found and they even provided bowls for your pup. Home was very clean overall. Owners were quick to respond and wonderful to talk to when we contacted them with questions. Favorite part was sleeping with the windows open listening to the lake sounds. Views from every room. Couple things to know - mattresses are on the firm side, if you like it soft, bring some padding. Two of the bedrooms have futons which is fabulous, but bring your own sheets for those. If you plan to rent a boat, Riverbay Rentals is great to deal with BUT be sure to reserve your pontoon or fishing boat weeks in advance.

Our private island hosts 2 sleeping cottages w/screen porches & full baths. They are separate listings. The other is "Private 1BD Cottage w/Seaway View." Therefore, if there are 4 in your party, we can accommodate you! Just off the main channel of the St. Lawrence, we have nightly sunsets, often with a freighter in view. The bay is calm and delightful, perfect for relaxing, kayaking, and fishing!
Travel away from the busy hub-bub of Alexandria Bay and 20 minutes down Route 12 you reach a quiet, serene island. The boat ride to the island is less than 5 minutes, but you feel like you are in your own little paradise! Fishermen's Cottage has its own full bath, screen porch, and heating system. Although there is no kitchen, there is a small fridge for storing lunch items or nibblies, if you are spending the day on the island. It has two comfortable twin beds with beautiful views of the river. Fans and the many evergreen trees keep the cottage cool in the summer. The beautiful colors of sunrise can be seen out the windows each morning. A gourmet breakfast is served each morning with fresh fruit, homemade muffins, scones, and egg entrees. Yum!
It is wonderful having the marina so close, but not in direct view. Unfortunately it is for sale, but the boat ramp is still accessible There are all kinds of things to see and places to visit in the Thousand Islands! The river holds tons of history, including two castles that you can visit by boat. There are many Amish living in the area, so you may catch site of a horse and buggy! Be sure to bring you passport as Kingston, Ontario houses old buildings, a fort, and many wonderful shops. If you stay for a few days, you could even make the 90 minute trip to Ottawa, the Canadian Capitol.
  • If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway, look no further! Linda’s Island is a piece of paradise filled with tranquility and scenic views! We stayed four nights filled with fishing, kayaking, paddle boating, reading on the dock, and venturing out to A Bay. Hanging out by the river was just what the doctor ordered. Linda and Jeff are amazing hosts, they treated us like family, and gave us some great information on the area. Each morning during our stay Linda cooked the best breakfasts I’ve ever had, I’m still dreaming about the scones and puff pancakes! This island is truly a special place, we had the best time and can’t wait to go back!

  • If you like peace and quiet....great hospitality... beautiful amenities...gorgeous sunsets...well this is the best little island you could ever visit. We always stayed in the middle of Abay. My husband and I both agree we will return to our favorite island instead.

    Karen2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful, calm, relaxing place to stay, with even better hosts. Everything was as expected or better, with the only exception that Linda’s breakfasts greatly exceeded any expectations. Fishing tips were accurate too!

    Jared2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint little gem that has lots to offer to enjoy nature as well as the amenities of the mainland!

    Tim2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • What gracious hosts! Everything was just perfect on Emby Island! The island itself is magical; there is something deeply soothing about being sung to sleep by crickets and frogs and the soft lap of ripples on the shore right outside your window. Our adorable little cottage with its bright cheery fishing decor was a delight as were mastering the paddle boat, the outdoor shower, the cozy deck furniture And the delicious gourmet breakfasts but it was the generosity and ease with which our hosts received us and cared for us throughout our weekend that makes Emby island a place we will return to again and again. Thank you so much Linda And Jeff!

    Dorothy2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Linda’s place is really special. It’s in a great location and her breakfasts and hospitality are awesome!

    Lawrence2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was a wonderful hostess and made us feel right at home for the two nights we were here! This place is perfect for unwinding. We enjoyed great breakfasts, and time just relaxing and reading outside in the shade among the birds. The island is also a short drive from wineries and boat tours. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer!

    Liz2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • This island is the best place you could choose to stay for your getaway. Breathtaking sites, lovely atmosphere, delicious breakfast, the BEST hosts you could imagine, honestly everything we did here was just off the scale amazing. We are going to come back for sure! • We stayed for just one night on our way to Montreal. We have a toddler and an infant so we wanted a homey and comfortable place to stay and have breakfast before going to the aquarium which is just a block away. This place was just what we needed. It felt like being home. It was very nice and the downstairs fireplace was on. The parking is right next to the house and that was great as it was one of the coldest night -22c/-5f. One of the rooms upstairs has a fireplace as well which is nice in the winter. It felt cold at night but we had warm pajamas and the fire, to our surprise we should that one of the windows was slightly opened. We were never too cold but we laughed about it. We enjoyed tea and coffee in the morning which is provided. We couldn't find a frying pan so we boiled our eggs instead. Overall our stay was great and we would come back in the future.

  • Christine’s place was exactly what we were looking for! Excellent value for money in downtown Brockville. Everything we wanted was a five to ten minute walk. The place itself was spacious with several recent upgrades. We fit four guys in here on a golf trip and had tons of room. It’s clearly an older home (as things are in Brockville). Christine was a great host, responded quickly whenever we had a question and checked in by text during our stay. Would stay here again.

    Sean2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Christine was an excellent host, her responses were very quick and check-in was extremely easy. The place itself was in a great location, it was walking distance to downtown and really easy to find driving down from the 401. I would definitely recommend to and friends or family!

  • Our Stay in Christines home was perfect for our weekend in Brockville. We were there for a dance competition and this space couldn’t have been better! It’s huge! The beds were so comfortable and we all had great sleep. The space is very clean and well taken care of. Location is perfect for getting downtown and a block away from shoppers which was handy. We had no issues but knew we could contact Christine if we needed anything. Very friendly. We didn’t need a late check out but Christine was open to it if we needed it. We couldn’t have asked for a better spot. Highly recommend for a small group or family.

He is very warm and kind, loves his animals and your animals alike and is very fun to talk to. I caught a glimpse of the farm and it was so fun! Gorgeous peacocks, pups, the property is stunning and obviously kept with tender love and care. Best Airbnb experience to date! I will be returning as soon as life allows!!

Eventually in 1950 the Cossitt family sold the terrace to Wilfred and Reba Argue, who then sold off each part. Near restaurants, beach, city parks, family-friendly activities, and nightlife. You'll love my place for its coziness and country setting, high ceilings, views and welcoming hospitality. Great for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families. Smoking outside only, and two friendly cats on premises. Continental breakfast included.
You have access to a private T.V. room. Lots of parking and very large deck with eating area and lounge area .
It's a beautiful country setting yet minutes from town. If you're lucky you could see deer, wild turkeys, and more. Nice to watch the 2 horses next door.
  • Great value for money, a very nice host and a adorable cat. Only minor downsides are (1) having just 1 bathroom including toilet for 2 rooms (4 guests) and (2) no eggs at breakfast.

  • Janet’s place is very nice and served our needs for our weekend get away. It was wonderful waking up right on the lake and there is just about everything you would need there. A few places nearby for some nice food.
